I'm an infamous motorized bike guy in my neighborhood, a fellow gave me this saw to try to get started for him. I found the kill switch bad, and disconnecting the wire from coil gave me spark. This saw is hard to pull and you sir are a beast and make it look easy.
If I was using a saw to really do heavy duty firewood or timber cutting, I wouldn't do what I did upgrading the CS-590. I would buy a CS 620 or maybe a larger saw, a pro saw instead of something to upgrade. You can't make a CS 590 in to a CS620 for anything near the price of a CS 620......or maybe a Husqy. I'm retired from working 37 years as an electrical engineer and I have a lot of discretionary time and a little discretionary money and sometimes I just need something interesting, challenging, gratifying to do.....I enjoy watching Tinman for the same reasons all of you do and sometimes I just HAVE to do something like what he's doing. I can't do heavy work like I used to but I still have a lot left in me to do things in more moderation. I've had a lifetime of doing electronics and projects so for me chainsaws are a good blend of the mental and the physical yielding a gratifying result/experience. I can use my Stihls and Husqys and give the ones I build to my sons and daughters for use on their properties....and sometimes a friend will need a saw and I can give him a saw or a good deal on one......retiring is not the thing many folks think it is. I just have to have something useful and creative to do....doing nothing is misery for sure....
Why in the heck would someone give this video a thumbs down??? Tinnman you are a kind soul and really care about your customers. I love your passion for power saws. Please keep up the great work and content.
You, sir, are an outstanding teacher. I know you're likely far away from retirement, but I would hope that when that time comes, you would consider perhaps teaching in a trade or technical school to share your knowledge with younger people going in this direction. You would be an outstanding mentor! 👍👏
I dropped the base gasket, raised the exhaust to 105*, opened the transfers as much as is realistic, put the 620 carburetor on, added the new 620 ignitor, opened the muffler completely (and the the deflector) and added a coarser screen for a little backpressure and some spark protection. I did all this right out of the box (never ran it stock) and after I got it started and retuned, she runs great and sounds good and is smooth running, excellent instantaneous acceleration.......now, break it in and see how she cuts wood....$375 for the saw no shipping out of Antioch, TN.....$79 for the ignitor, $89 for the coil....paid tax on it all but no shipping....appreciate you and your insightful explanations and sharing your "ancient Chinese secrets",,,,you are a talented instructor and easy to understand....as they taught us in the Army: "....tell them what you're about to tell them; then tell them what you need for them to know; then tell them what you just told them...." You're a good man, Charlie Brown.....
Just bought this saw new yesterday. It's a monster. WHY in the F would someone think they need more? I think it's just to say you f'd with it and save 1-second making one cut maybe twice a year when a tree fell.
Great job again Tinman! So nice to see a common saw that is readily available to a land owner being built to perform like a pro saw. My nephew owns one, and I might just copy your build and surprise him. 💪
Thanks for the videos I just picked up the exact same saw, was used about 10 minutes and they burned the Piston up they didn't have any oil in the fuel. Hopefully I got enough sense to fix it lol
Has that ported cs590 sound for sure I'm running a lightend up pop up in my 590 build it has less compression then it it did stock or what my s620s have but seems strong in the cut can't wait to see this one in the wood keep having fun it's what it's all about
I wash saws in the sink too. The wifey is fine with it. Hot soapy water and a toothbrush. Motoseal is awesome. I think the sealers are all the same too.
Thanks again for sharing with us! That echo does sound meaner. I got a CS-590 last week, funny how the limiter caps fell out and the muffler and it's deflector suffered some weight loss within the first tankfull🤔 Checked squish in 4 spots .0410 to .0415 probably losing the base gasket this weekend. Looking forward to how it responds in the wood!
Amen brother about learning the hard way! Truth is when you think you've learned it all you''ll get schooled quick by the old fellows! I personally use the trial and error method but i also like to learn other people perspectives on it! Sometimes there is no right or wrong way of doing things, just harder or easier methods ( except porting/timing that's an art in some cases)
That settles it I’m going to have my saw sent to you when I get the money and if you’d be interested in porting another CS-590 😂. I currently pull a 24in bar on mine stock and would love to improve the power. Love your content😎👍
I have a poulan top handle climbing saw. Its a 25a automatic. Was wondering if you would like to work your magic so i can ise it in the tree. You can have it on a video perhaps. And yes ill pay u. Lol. Bsafe big'fella
That’s going to be sick! Love the kackle!!! She’s a bad little bitch now!!!! 24” bar!!! O’ yeah!!! She’s no longer a 590! Needs a duct tape sticker with 652 on it!!! LMFFAO!!! Sweet build!!!
Hi Tinman !!😀😀 Can't wait to see how much gain you got out of it when you get it in the wood!! She really has some bark to her!! Take care my friend!!😀😀👍👍 Logger Al
All the ones that end with bond are actually three bond by 3M we get it in five gallon buckets where I work. I've got old saws that you can't get grommets for the fuel tank. I just seal them up with three bond. My 245 poulan has the fuel tank top half sealed with it. It's been like that for fifteen years, don't leak anything. The stuff is a miracle.
Ol red permstex high tem gasket maker..no problems yet. Yeah ring compressors are overrated too lol never had any and no problems there either, DOWN AN DIRTY BABY!
I have a 372 xp I live in Sudbury Ontario I’d really like to get it ported I love your work you really know how to make power would you be interested in doing it for me ?
To bad you don't have a stock cylinder to put back on and see if it has the same problem. Might try moving the coil away from the flywheel a few thousands
i've got a couple questions for ya! im into 2 stroke but new to saws, what's the second hole for in the dome? also have to ever had issue with using to much gasket maker and having it big a rig/lip in the port? on the 500cc 2 strokes i build, ive noticed it everytime, some of it even works its way through and out the exhaust, have you ever had issue with it getting caught in a ring and burning up?
oh you answered the first question right after i un paused it! decomp! now I'm assuming it only gets triggered upon initial start? I'm sure you'll answer this literally after I un pause it again lol
How long do you think the Echo CS 590 will last in years as compared with a Stihl saw? Just wondering. I have neither brand of chainsaw, but i like what I see of the CS 590, which seems like a quality saw. Also, are parts easy to find for the CS 590?
He clearly said piston was already installed, he was just demonstrating the thrust washers. You must have took parts of video and not the whole video???
I'm an infamous motorized bike guy in my neighborhood, a fellow gave me this saw to try to get started for him.

You are a positive and uplifting man. I appreciate you patient explanation of how saws work. Keep the videos coming! God Bless!

Hey man,
How are you doing in retirement now? Wishing you all the best
That saw has a beautiful sound to it!! You swear it’s a 70cc saw!!
Great job man can’t wait to see back up against the 562!!
Why in the heck would someone give this video a thumbs down??? Tinnman you are a kind soul and really care about your customers. I love your passion for power saws. Please keep up the great work and content.

Morning buddy, thanks for thd kind words!!
Well said. I agree. The Tinman is a great teacher.
Yea and when he can't teach' or they don't listen, his ogre azz can bonk them on the head. J/J tinman no offense. Lol
That jewel sounds great! Have a great weekend buddy! 👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🙏🙏🙏
My #1 man 48-year-old retired navy ---- agreed to be on my UA-cam operating my 70cc still chop saw. He talks like you. It is refreshing.

thank you for this! I had to replace my handle/gas tank and could not figure out how to get it off. That screw was the key!!
Man that thing sure has a unique sound to it. Super cool. Great work friend. Thank you Tinman for sharing this assembly. Love it 🌲❤🌲✊🪓
Can't wait to see it in the wood. I look forward to Friday night all week.
Nice work, Tinman! That saw sounds knarly! Now, to get it in the wood....
Thats one of many things I love about this channel. You get to see every saw in the wood! You get the bench talk and the chips to back it up!
great job! I love the cs-590
Just bought this saw new yesterday. It's a monster. WHY in the F would someone think they need more? I think it's just to say you f'd with it and save 1-second making one cut maybe twice a year when a tree fell.
I really enjoy your videos !! your a great teacher !
Great video Tinman, keep it rolling buddy. I will be watching.
I really enjoy your videos and the way you do your videos.

Thanks for the videos I just picked up the exact same saw, was used about 10 minutes and they burned the Piston up they didn't have any oil in the fuel.
Hopefully I got enough sense to fix it lol
Have a feeling that saw will be in a whole new league compared to stock

Motoseal is awesome. I think the sealers are all the same too.
Wow, I love this saw, no words for this, it sounds awesome and the powerful.
That saw rips, cannot wait to see it in the wood!!!
Thanks again for sharing with us! That echo does sound meaner. I got a CS-590 last week, funny how the limiter caps fell out and the muffler and it's deflector suffered some weight loss within the first tankfull🤔

Be sure to run higher octane I bet it opens it up some

Great work as always Tinman 👍🏻
its sounding good, little bit tuning on that carb and its good
Man that baby sounds reeeealy grumpy!! Nice work! And I love your safety flip-flops :-) Greetings from Germany!
Sounds mean now. Can’t wait to see it in the wood.
I really enjoy your videos.awesome brother
Damn that saw sounds terrific!
I have a 590 and would not mind having that done.
Nice job 👍
Sounds great! I have the same saw, would love to tweak it, but hate to screw something up lol
She rips alright, can’t wait to see it in the wood 🪵
✌️
Looking forward to seeing it cut. Sounds great

Awesome job dude. I may not always comment but i always watch your videos. Bsafe dude.

Clean saw sounds good
Hi tinman a like that you do all kinds of chainsaws. Keep up the good work buddy... Form 🏴...
Toyota has a sealant called FIPG form in place gasket that is amazing
On cylinders I use lions head, or Indian head gasket shellac.
Nice job tinman. Peace. Going to do some wood carving and let a saw tick over love the smell of 2 stroke
It would be funny and cool if you would port that little homelite xl2!
Why did u pull the cord before shutting it off?
Great work as usual. Stay safe buddy.
Thanks for the tips bro!
Looking forward to seeing it cut!
Super lucrare👍. Salut🤝
I have the timberwolf and love it
Hi Tinman !!😀😀
Can't wait to see how much gain you got out of it when you get it in the wood!!
She really has some bark to her!!
Take care my friend!!😀😀👍👍
Logger Al
Awesome!! Can't wait to see it cut
Sounds great
I don’t think I missed this in the video but how long do you let the motoseal set up before starting the saw?
Good build
I’d love to send you my 385xp and let you go to town with it. She needs the tinmans touch!

EXACT torx bit set I've got.
Nice crackle to it.
Tinman was that the wrist pin retainer I saw sitting on the paper towel with your assembly parts after you installed the cylinder?
Sounds good 👍
ok, ignorant question...why do you pull the recoil starter out a bit when killing the engine?
It lessons wear on hard to get starter parts.
@@tinmanssaws
Should I do that to my brand new CS590 I just bought everytime I shut it off, I haven't even used it yet but is that a good idea
Great job tinman. How about working on mine😁
Thank you!!
That thing does sound like it will rip!
Quick question Tinman, will it hurt the liquid gasket if the saw runs before it’s dry?
Great job! Top notch build! Did you measure how much you raised the exhaust port? And would you share measurements??
Does a good porting job like this one decrease the saws lifespan? If so, how much?
I have a 372 xp I live in Sudbury Ontario I’d really like to get it ported I love your work you really know how to make power would you be interested in doing it for me ?
Sounds like it’s four stroking a bit. Is that what you mean when you say it’s running rich! Do those saws have carb adjustment screws?
Good work buddy but I gtta stick with my huskies. 😉
I’ve got both, echo are great saws also.
Why do heat cycles? Did you put new ring on piston?
Hey I was working on a husqvarna 50 and I didn't see a spot on the carburetor or the tank so I'm really confused got anything
fires fast
To bad you don't have a stock cylinder to put back on and see if it has the same problem. Might try moving the coil away from the flywheel a few thousands
Ser clip laying on table hope that's an old one not one that was supposed go into the saw
i've got a couple questions for ya! im into 2 stroke but new to saws, what's the second hole for in the dome?

I would think with a quality oil and decent fuel the same amount of time.
Nice!
Was this the last cs590 build video upload?
Did final assembly of my fully rebuilt 266 today. Only watched your video 5 times lol. Where do you get your 266 fuel lines from?
Any crankcase oil?
I'm in nyc is there anywhere i can take my saw to get ported?
What kinda Beard oil you use.
How much for a ported muffler for my 450
Are you the guy bucking Bill always talked about
Yeah thats me
Do you have crickets in the shop?
Really, with as many saws as you build you don't have a piston stop?
Sure he does,, but the rope covers more surface area on piston ,for torquing against.
What are the simplest saws out there? Husky, echo, jonsered, stihl, homelite, pioneer, etc?
Husky are easiest to work on in my oppinion.
I'll second Tinmam, on this one!
NEVER SEEN YOU INSTALL CIRCLIP ON CLUTCH SIDE ,,SEEN IT LAYING ON YOUR PAPER TOWEL
He clearly said piston was already installed, he was just demonstrating the thrust washers. You must have took parts of video and not the whole video???
I see a circlip on your bench ??
Why do you pull the rope before shutting down the saw? I'm sure someone knows and you've already said lol
Thing snarls as it idles
