Entwhistle, The Ox, was a beast on the bass, yet he was basically a statue on stage. Arguably one of the best bassist ever
Yet his fingers were so fluid.
@@markswisher3709 him and JPJ from Zeppelin
Definitely one of the best bassists ever. Arguably THE best bassist ever. Personally I think that anyone who argues is wrong argument over
I always thought they looked like 3 guys on stage trying to outperform each other, and the 4th guy didn’t give A.F. about it.
@@walterfleury3840 ...and add Jack Bruce to this!
“Promo video” was what they were called before the streaming age, when they suddenly became “official music videos.”
The drummer was Keith Moon, RIP. He inspired the Muppet Show for their character 'the animal' who happened to be a drummer as well.
I can see the resemblance! Robot Chicken did a whole segment in the style of "Behind the Music" where they show the members of the "band" after they broke up after the muppet show was cancelled. There was a poignant moment where, after their appearance on "Star Search" Ed McMahon likened Animal to an "epileptic rag doll" and Animal attacked him and later was put down. It's worth a watch. I'm sure it's on YT somewhere.
I can see that... even Keith "The Animal" Moon has a nice ring to it. But "Moon the Loon" (as someone else cited in another comment) is probably better.
Yup Jim Hensen the creator of the muppets was a huge fan of The Who
He was one of the inspirations for animal but not the only one
It's rumoured it was either Keith or Mic Fleetwood
He's one of the greatest bass players ever too.
There's an isolated bass video of him on here somewhere.
@@DazzleMonroe It's just how calm, focused and effortless he makes it look.
@@leftcoaster67 His style is unique. It's quite impossible to play exactly what he is playing, especially in live performances.
Thunder fingers. The Ox.
Not one of, The greatest!
My favorite rock band and the best live band ever!
And just like that, four months later drummer Keith was dead. RIP Moon the Loon
Alcohol the gateway drug . avoid it

John Entwistle impersonation- on point. More please!
Drummer Keith Moon (RIP) was the inspiration for 'Animal' of The Muppets.
Legendary song and Band!!!
Pete Townsend, the writer and guitarist and piano player, also explored with cutting edge technology including mogs and other synth equipment for those sounds. You can hear it back in their Quadrophenia and Who’s Next albums.
Keith Moon is both a crazy person and a brilliant drummer. One of the best ever.
I've always felt the real standout on that particular song was the drumming.
Entwistle just makes the bass look easy. He’s one of the best ever. Moon, the drummer, is literally regarded as the best of all time
2 things John Entwistle once said he's a babysitter for 3 unruly toddlers. There's a reason Keith Moon nick name was "The Loon".
"Love reign o'er me" & "Happy Jack " are bangers too
Your impression of John Entwistle (the bassist) was hilarious! I had not seen this specific clip of the Who in the studio before, but it was perfect for you, Biss. Thanks again for putting a smile on my face! 🥰
ICONIC Classic Rock. Every note burned into my brain over 50+ years
To call the Who one of the greatest rock bands of all time is a giant understatement. I’m confident that people will still be talking about them 100 years from now
The Who, specifically the Guitarist Songwriter, Pete Townshend, were among the first Rock Bands to utilize synthesizer sequencing, which starts some of their songs and runs through the entire song. The Who was also among the first to utilize Laser Lighting for their shows too.
Very innovative Band from the beginning.
Hi Biscute, it's always rewarding to see you come back to react to The Who, one of my favorite bands for quite a while. "Who Are You" by The Who is one of their most iconic songs, released in 1978. I understand that Pete Townshend, The Who's main songwriter, wrote the lyrics after a difficult night in which he reflected on his life and career in the music industry. Although at first glance it may seem simple and repetitive, the lyrics are full of that search for meaning, and in context, they also reflect the challenge of maintaining an authentic identity while living under the spotlight. This is reinforced musically; the instrumentation is a classic rock combination with a complex melodic structure, showcasing Townshend's guitar, John Entwistle's bass, Keith Moon's drums, and Roger Daltrey's distinctive voice.
If you listen closely, you’ll notice that the song features interesting rhythmic changes and sound effects that enhance the tone of confusion and energy reflected in the lyrics. As you pointed out, Biscute, the guitar has a distortion effect that adds a gritty and raw touch to the sound, while Entwistle’s bass maintains the rhythm and cohesion of the piece.
The members' attitude stands out, with their sense of humor and a certain lack of seriousness that adds a freshness to the performance. Although it’s an introspective song, The Who members perform it in a very fun way. Another striking aspect is Keith Moon's drumming, whose energy and unique style drive the song and give it a sense of controlled chaos, a distinctive mark in The Who's sound. Excellent choice. Greetings and a hug from Mexico City.
Moon the Loon was one of the top 5 drummers if all time, and he bled passion in every part of his life. Fans think he died young, but his friends were shocked that he lived so long!
I loved seeing them perform so much in this video. They are all such characters, and yet each totally different from the other. Of course, just seeing the mad jester, Keith Moon, would make any video wildly entertaining. And John Entwistle was such an amazing bassist that it was heartbreaking that he died at only 57, but somehow totally predictable that he passed in a Vegas hotel room with a mountain of cocaine and a stripper.
Happy to see kids these days enjoying this. 🤗
Each member of the Who are incredible in their own right Kieth Moon one of the greatest drummers they had to tape his headphones to his head because they kept falling off I am blessed to have seen them a few times over the years
Pete is a monster guitarist🤘❤️
Believe it or not that is not a keyboard synthesizer. It is a guitar. The guitar has a special pickup (microphone) on it that runs into a synthesizer called an ARP Avatar. It is one of the first guitar synthesizers ever used. Genesis used it too.
BISSCUTE thanks so much WHO ARE YOU so much fun wow
the drummer is rated at the very top of the list in drummers he is one of the names mentioned when talking about the greatest drummers
Moon the loon
john bonham the only drummer to compare with keith moon in the rock great annals
John Entwistle The Ox was one of rocks greatest bass players. He died like a true rock star, in a Las Vegas hotel room with a stripper and a pile of cocaine. God bless you Ox. Long Live Rock!
The "F-BOMB" 😱 in the lyrics! We, the young and rebellious fans of the time, LOVED it. We saw it as a huge "Up yours!" to authority and the music establishment. Every time Roger sang that line in concert, the crowd went wild. Any time anyone dropped an F-BOMB on stage, we went wild.
Radio stations muted it, or course, but the damage had been done. Our ears were forever tainted....LOL
Some stations played it uncut, of course that changed in the 80s onward
@@blindriv3r ... All it took was a few complaints to make the bad words disappear.
F-BOMBS................................................FTW !!!!!!!!
Love these guys. Got to see them live once, and they were pure electricity. What a thrill.
Drummer: Keith Moon! "Moon the LOON" as everyone in London called him:)
Biss, this is what Bob Seger meant by "Old Time Rock and Roll", no CGI, monsters or super heroes fighting in a wonderland somewhere, just the band and their music.
This is not what he meant, at all. Are you dumb?
The Who had been putting out jams for many years before this. Hits like My Generation, I can see for Miles, Behind Blue Eyes, Pinball Wizard are all awesome. They were one of the wild bands of Rock N Roll, often smashing their guitars on stage 👍
The song tells a true story about a night in which Pete Townshend overindulged and then struggled to remember what happened. Years later, it became the theme for the TV show, CSI.
Baba O'Riley and Won't get Fooled Again were used in the two spin-offs.
This was footage from the studio in 1978 of The Who recording the album 'Who are you'... The band had taken some time off and were energized to reclaim their spot as one of the world's top rock bands. But recording was reportedly problematic... However, the album was a hit and The Who were determined to tour again.
Tragically, the band was hit by bad news in September 1978 - Keith Moon (drums) died from excessive consumption of pills that he was using to curb his alcoholism; the troubled and talented drummer was only 32 yrs of age.
Soon after, The Who announced that the band would continue w/ plans to tour in 1979 w/ a session drummer, to honor Keith Moon... but they added that it would not be the same as the original band.
Bassist John Entwistle wasn't a very wild character onstage but he was an exceptional bassist and his parts were tricky to say the least.
Guitarist/ songwriter Pete Townshend added synthesizers and piano to the track.
Another fun fact about The Who the character of Animal in the Muppets is based off drummer Keith Moon
Hi Biss, commuting by bus to college in the Philippines, at illegal speed, with all the windows down, dust and bugs in your face! The Who blasting away on stereo at full volume! Every teenager singing along, “Who are you? Who? Who? Who? Who?” Heads bobbing, fists in the air. In 1989 I got see The Who live in BC Stadium. It was the best concert for me ever! It was like being a teenager again. Then I get to hear several of their songs every week, as the theme song for all the C.S.I. TV series! I had a chance to see them again in 2016. With a younger generation in the audience. They started screaming out the C.S.I. TV shows when a certain song was played. Their point of reference. When they played Who are you, a scream went out, “LAS VEGAS!” With Baba O’Riley they screamed, “NEW YORK!”. Instead of being disappointed, I joined in. When The Who played Won’t Get Fooled Again. I yelled with them, “MIAMI!!” After all, the CSI series introduced a younger generation to The Who! Even with the passage of years The Who still gets the blood pumping!
You got it immediately these guys ARE TOO COOL
Fun fact, This is one of the first songs that dropped an F-bomb in the lyrics.
@@DrStrangelove3891 Hence why I said one of the first. Not the first.
The Doors ‘The End’ (1967).
@@leftcoaster67 You'll have to forgive him for his lack of comprehension, the ability to associate, and basic understanding of grammar.
When the synthesizer first came available, Pete Townsend choose to use it differently. He would program it and just let it run for the song. Pete is the guitarist. Entwhistle is famous for playing, maybe, the first bass solo in rock.
Once when asked why he was so reserved on stage while the other 3 were so crazy, bassist John Entwistle replied "Someone has to keep the beat!" The synth at the beginning is the work of guitarist Pete Townsend, a pioneer of new synthesizer soundscapes... mind-blowing tech for its day. Another great reaction, Biss, as always! Keep 'em coming. 😊
The intro/background synthesizer sounds were programmed and recorded by Pete Towensend before there were synthesizers.
Some distortion was a popular setting during those times. Nice performance of Roger Daltrey (lead singer). Love your reaction! You’re beautiful!
Thanks again for another fun reaction. I grew up listening to The Who but gained a whole new appreciation for the band and music after seeing the movie Quadrophenia. It is based on a composite of the 4 members youth in england(cerca1964 ) i highly recommend it.
Thank you, glad you loved the reaction
I saw the Who at the Montreal Forum in 1980 and wow what a show, one of my favorites and yet I've seen a lot!
I love the headset taped to the drummers head
As someone once said ' Keith did not play the drums , he attacked them " !!
The Who were one of a multitude of great rock bands to emerge from the UK in the 60's.
The drummer's name was Keith Moon. He was one of the original mad men of rock but he is still recognised as one of the all time greats of drumming. He died in 1978 at the age of 32.
Keith Moon is most definitely a drummer that hit hard, and was known for beating the hell out of it, and was one of the early drummers that inspired future generations. Also known to be a pretty wild, hard partying guy that really lived the life of sex, drugs, and rock n roll, which lead him to an early grave, which left another kind of lesson for future generations. The thing with him duct taping the headphones to his head is funny, and I'm not an expert on this, but that was just before in ear monitors existed, so when you played live, it was a real mess with what you could actually hear on stage, and what you could play along with. It was just part of the skill of live performance before the technology made things easier. So, that was actually kind of inventive of him to think to do that to help his performance. He was just like, "Fuck it, I'm just going to duct tape this shit on!"
You have to do "Reign O'er Me" next!
ua-cam.com/video/DhLsC2FpDZk/v-deo.htmlsi=ecsvOszXFArGhUDZ
Keith Moon (The drummer) is absolutely ICONIC as the "legendary rocker who does crazy things". The stories they are STILL telling about him from back in the day are a riot of absolute unconcern for himself, property and conduct. And they RARELY involve anything about relationships with fans (groupies/girls) and are more often than not stories about what HE DID WHEN BY HIMSELF. Throwing TV's into pools, driving cars into hotel lobby doors, tossing things off of hotel balconies (into a pool or not).... the list goes on and on.
And you can see how this had an impact on society by the way that "Animal" from the Muppets acts OFF the drums, but when ON the drums it is all business.
The band was feeling the end of the road for them... This was one last, big, banger before the drummer died.
I saw them live when I was young, unfortunately I'm not old enough to have seen Keith Moon the drummer when he was alive, but it was impressive seeing them old and still tearing shit up. Roger Daltrey was still able to scream his ass off, and the son of Ringo from the Beatles was playing drums really well with a comparable amount of wildness.
All of the CSI shows use songs by The Who as their theme music:
CSI (AKA CSI: Las Vegas) - Who Are You?
CSI: Miami - Won't Get Fooled Again
CSI: NY - Baba O'Reilly
CSI: Cyber - I Can See for Miles
This song is an autobiography of Pete Townsend life. He went on a bender woke up outside a flat in Soho he was told by the police to go home and sleep it off. He went back to his house the police came to the house with an arrest warrant he got into a bar fight that night he didn't remember it. When he was in prison Pete was heard saying "who the fuck are you some fucking drunk he gets arrested for getting into bar fights" a few months later he would go into rehab. The Who's Behind Blue Eyes is about Pete's battle with getting sober.
Rock and Roll should be fun, and these guys epitomize fun. I know this well but had never see the video before, so awesome. I hope you do more of their music, I don't think you'll be disappointed!
Moon the Lune (Lunatic) was well known for his wild antics he was banned from hotel chains in the US famously blew up his drum kit with gunpowder live on American TV and also had a penchant for blowing up hotel toilets and trashing hotel rooms but was one of the greatest drummers of the era.
Can't believe you have never heard this before...a classis song by a classic band. Great reaction 😉
Thank you, glad you loved the reaction
One of my fave The Who songs! ♥ LoL @ yer imitation of rocker! 😃
The Bassist John Entwhistle is very chill guy and considered one of the best of rock and in fact he was the soloist of the group with complex baselines that keep the music on. You can see how he was wonderful in Quadrophenia Album, he basically is soloing in bass all the whole album.
One suggestion for more reactions of the Who is "Love Reign o'r Me" (love reign over me) which is a classic (they use "rain" and "reign" in lyrics because of similariry of the words sound). I think you'll enjoy a lot "Love Reign o'r me" and will be somethig unexpected for you because what you know until now about Who songs. Try this, you will enjoy and the reaction would be very funny like usual with your pretty and cute surprise reactions.
Thank you for the suggestions
Classic rock big band and tune, one of the greatest! Biss, you know how to pick em 👍
You will love "A quick one while he's away" by the Who, live at the magic circus. (1968)
Keith is perhaps my favorite drummer. I don't know about technical stuff when it comes to music. I just like his persona and enthusiasm. And something about the way he plays feels a little spicy.
They actually recorded this song for the album the day before. It was done. They went back the next day to film this.
This song is also the theme song for one of the biggest shows on FOX called The Masked Singer
The bass player is known as Thunder Fingers. He is chill, but he is crazy on bass.
Here you have one of the greatest songwriters (Townshend) on stage with one of the greatest drummers (Moon) and greatest bassists (Entwistle) in the history of rock and roll, and the cherry on top are the powerful and iconic vocals of the lead singer (Daltrey). EDIT: No really, these are some of the greatest... look up isolated bass tracks by Entwistle, and/or listen to the album Tommy or Live at Leeds... seem a bit silly/effortless here but these guys are truly heavy hitters.
The Who is one of the great Rock Bands, it has one of the best lead vocalists of the era, one of the greatest songwriters, one of the ALL TIME greatest Bassists and one of the ALL TIME greatest Drummers.
You should look up Bass Isolated videos of John Entwistle, he always stood there like a statue, looking (and probably was) stoned, but his fingers are absolutely FLYING all over the instrument.
I am not 100% sure, but think this is one of the last things that Keith Moon (the drummer) did with the band before his untimely death. You should look up some interviews about the things that Keith Moon did, he was. . .one of the genuinely wild people in rock at the time.
Apparently, the lyrics came from the story of one of the members, Pete, I believe, being awoke by a cop during a drunken black out.
I was fortunate enough to see these guys do it live twice.
Love your reactions. You are a real star.
Thank you, glad you loved the reaction
Hi Biss thanks for always giving us excellent content while always giving us your honest reactions❤
Biss this song will make you hoo hoo more than you have ever hoo hoo-ed before! Thanks for sharing Biss!❤️💛
"Behind Blue Eyes" is one of their serious songs, if you want to hear a song about a sad insane crazed person. 👹
Thanks, I will add it to the list
Highly suggest the next "The Who" song should be "Behind Blue Eyes" JUST to hear how massively different the same band can make a song sound. Not just through vocals, but musically AND the writing.
To say that "The Who" are legends is a complete UNDERSTATEMENT and shows that sometimes the word "legend" is NOT ENOUGH to describe how much a band can make an impact on a generation, genre or industry.
Great reaction, Bisscute! Love the Who. Great music over multiple decades
Thank you, glad you loved the reaction
Hi Biss yes the song at least I'm sure somebody has her pieces of it it's been played in movies. First time I've seen the video great reaction hope you're having a great Wednesday❤😊

since we all started streaming during covid, one of the old shows I worked my way through was CSI... and (of course) this was the theme song in the opening credits.
Yes that is "Duct Tape"on Keith Moons head set ,, they have to tape them to his head or they'll fall off in 30 seconds just watch him lol..
Biss must own a mad set of editing skills to put out so much content on three different channels and then other platforms. Kinda amazing actually.
These ones are pretty easy for her because she does them live on Twitch and ignores chat while doing them. I don't think she actually has to edit at all for these. Just hit record and then end. And I think she has an editor, can't remember.
@@cp368productions2 First of all ! I do not ignore chat :) BUT I cant react to the song and read your comments :) AND I do edit for 2 of my channels and make all my thumbnails and stream 4 times a week ;) so yes Its def very easy for me
Sadly Keith Moon the drummer died not too long after this was made. One of the greatest to ever do it. Animal from the Muppets was modeled from Keith's persona.
This song is very iconic.

Hey Biss, good to see you! The drummer is the legendary Keith Moon. Great reaction, thanks :)

We used to call bassist Entwhistle "Old Thunderfingers"
Pete Townsend experimented with synths quite a bit to add texture and steady rhythm (drummer Keith Moon "played the vocals" - spectacularly). In those days the hardware wasn't road-ready so they ended up using tape, which has its own problems.
Bisscute, The Who is a very famous band back in the 60’s & 70s. They had a lot of hit songs. When they played live in concert, their thing was at the very end the last song they would all destroy their instruments, except for one person the bass player: John Entwistle, he would just stand there and protect his equipment…so funny!
The Vibe of John Entwhistle "The Ox". Best rock bassist in the world.
He probably looks so relax because of all the pharmaceuticals running through his veins. Great classic rock tune. Right, it's more of a head banger and not a lyrical masterpiece.
Their last truly great song, and one of their best 👍😎
