SO many people going on about what they would supposedly do in such a situation, but you can't understand until you are in that position.
A close friend of mine was a similar situation years ago and he came to me looking for advice. He wanted to kill the man that had hurt his daughter, and he had the means and every moral justification in the world to do so. But I pointed out one simple fact to him,... you cannot protect your family from within a prison cell.
The perv died in prison, but my friend and his daughter are still alive and free.
We have to give the law a chance to work...but if it doesn't work then we have to decide what we should do.

I was just a little girl when I saw my friend in the park with a creepy old man with his hands all over her, I had wandered away from my older brothers. They came in and swooped me away. My parents questioned me about it. I never saw that man or his car again. I don't know if he went to jail or if the men in my family ran him outta town.

So let me see if I've got this right. All I have to do is identify as a girl and I can walk into the ladies room and corner some vulnerable young woman, and then hide behind my amorphous gender. The sad thing is there's people out there that think this absolutely cannot happen.
I remember when my girlfriend came home from her job at Target, around the time they first started introducing the gender-neutral bathrooms. She of course was beaming with excitement about how caring and thoughtful it was. I immediately said "do you not see how opportunistic liars will immediately take advantage of this?" I was given the oh hush treatment. Within a week it started happening. No apology no nothing. Some people are just too stupid to admit they're wrong.
This whole thing is a cynical manufactured crisis. Transwomen have always used women's restrooms. I don’t know about trans men as I never met one, that I know of.
Face it, it’s cis men who are the problem. They’re violent. Not all or even most, but enough to make life dangerous for women, transwomen, transmen and children. That’s why transwomen have to use the women’s restroom. That’s why we have separate facilities for men and women. That’s why mothers take their little boys into the ladies room.
But some of these statements I’ve been reading, including this question are disingenuous. Trans men who look like men should use the men’s room. Trans women who look like women should use the women’s. These laws have to be opposed and overturned, but in the meantime let's use some common sense.
