You are right. Luke S clearly prepped well for the show and a worthy winner. However, I'm a big Luke R fan and really feel like this was his year, so I was gutted. Also, whilst it's none of my business, seeing Luke S take the title right now does leave a bitter taste in the mouth given recent events.
Great summary Toby, your in depth knowledge of the guys shining through. Love how well paddy, Ben and Andy performed, such an exciting battle for that 3rd spot. Most of all so happy for Shane 🥹
The livestream experience was not great. However, great show. I had Luke R, Luke S , Shane. So 2 out of 3 not bad. Andrew Flyn was a surprise . Paddy done great 1 rep on the log and he would be going WSM. Hope the guys are OK. Luke S was looking lean and fit. Also very focused.
Fantastic round-up of it. Im biased as im a Luke Stoltman fan but it was great to see him back after all the negative publicity. It certainty doesnt look like its had a negative effect on him as he looks in better shape than ever 👌
I went to the show and it felt like the steeplechase wrote a lot of the athletes off. Luke Richardson is my fave strongman (along with Mateusz and Trey) so was gutted to see him pull out. Very relieved to hear it’s not an injury! It wrote off Andy Black as well and likely contributed to Gav and Bishop having scares. Was genuinely concerned when Gav went down after the deadlift! The positives were great performances from Andy Flynn, Paddy and Glasscock. Also, Flowers bicep holding up with the 6 pickups on the loading plus the stones. Delighted for Shane and Andy Flynn getting invites to WSM. Hoping Luke Richardson and Mateusz are both ok for Europes as I have tickets to that.
Tbh i think picking Andy Black ahead Rauri oHagan was baffling tbh i was kinda not surprised not that Ben Glasscock was picked ahead of Paul Smith since he podiumed OSG Europe's and almost podiumed England's Paul hasn't had best of performances for while specially his last Brits where he wasn't great
Luke Richardson has already secured a WSM invite (as has Tom), so with the podium all getting invites. I think BIsh gets an invite (he very well could podium at Europre's and get an invite that way) and Paddy pips Gav as the first Brit to get an alternate spot at WSM. With only 25 athletes in the WSM, there can only be so many Brits and Americans.
Yeah I think that sounds about right to be honest, I think Bish will get an invite still based on how well he was doing last year before the Achilles. Hopefully he has another chance to prove himself before worlds too. I think Paddy will be first reserve
@@TobyLifely I wouldn't want Paddy in my group. The heats are normally a bit lighter and more rep-y than the final. He moves well, has an awesome grip, will smash a deadlift for reps, and is a threat in a stone off.
Honestly yeah paddy in a heats group could mess things up massively depending on the events. If he makes a stone off he has a very very good chance having done a 250kg stone before
Can I just say. People should be very careful judging Luke S. There are 2 sides to every story and I'm going to upset people here but I don't think you should do your dirty laundry in public. I think it's as low as you can get. I'm not on Social Media outside of UA-cam, so I don't know what Luke's been posting, but I know on here he's taken a back seat. Someone said recently he'd be booed into therapy at Brits. Whoever that was is eating their words now. This is strongman, not loose women. Grow up, be respectful and appreciate Luke for the man he is.
People can respect Luke's performance as an athletes without bringing his personal choices into it for sure, he put on a great performance last night and as a strongman fan that's what I care about
This would be more accurate if he didn’t tout his family around and personal life around as a whole fake show of being a moral compass and family man. He did this to himself
Bish posted on Instagram that his mental wasn't there yesterday, so hopefully he can come in confident next time and back to it. No idea about Gav hopefully he's doing well
@TobyLifely I won't wait for Bish on UA-cam, I might be in my coffin the next time he posts 😂 Is he doing Europe's? Gav was my first strongman meet, so I have a soft spot.
Nah I liked the third bag, separated the men from the boys, guys knew it would be tough should have prepped better, might sound harsh but don't want it being a foot race.
When you say easiest payday for Andy Black. Do you know what the wage structure is? I think, I don't know, that they only get paid according to where they rank in the show. Pull out and you get no pay day?
I think you still get paid if you pullout, based on where you placed, so because he placed last and pulled out I think he'd still get a couple hundred quid, whatever last usually gets
Hey id sling some sandbags around for a couple hundred quid, he has posted that he tweaked his hamstring so I do hope he's alright I mean no ill will to him
I've had a rant already, I apologise everyone. I'm just going to have another. Anyone who says GL is an easy comp is an idiot. I'm sick of hearing, oh it's light, it's not the Arnolds, yada yada. It's 5 events in just under 5 hours. Anyone who podiums at any GL comp deserves to be be at Worlds, SMoE, Arnolds or Rogue. End of rant, sorry again 😂
No athlete should be judged for his personal life end off. I seen some saying Luke only won because of pullouts Lets be honest Gavin didn’t pull out and he pasted out in front of 8000 people. Luke not feeling well? Bishop the same, well he did medley and we all knew he wasn’t the best at pressing Congratulations to Luke S he won it on event one and he knew it
I still think Luke S would of won, if the guys continue The first event was same for everyone My only disappointment is Paddy overhead I honestly think he needs help with his overhead and did a enough to earn a podium
@ he definitely would have been up there for sure, he had no weaknesses yesterday and was in very good shape. Paddy is working hard at his overhead, just takes time, I am sure we will see it improve even more as the year goes on
Giving loz and liz a run for their money, this was very well produced and insightful
How that's a compliment! However I can't compete with them they are the MVPs, but I'll try my best!
You don’t need to compete with them, do your own thing and the views will come! Great video as always, enjoying following your content 👍🏻
Cheers mate
A lot more of a post re-cap than loz n Liz !
You're re-cap very unbiased, you're judging luke the strongman and not his personal life !! Well done 👍
I'm a strongman fan so I look at performances, not my place to say anything else
I went last night for the first time and it was fantastic cant wait for the next one
Happy for luke and paddy wow
They are fantastic shows
You are right. Luke S clearly prepped well for the show and a worthy winner.
However, I'm a big Luke R fan and really feel like this was his year, so I was gutted.
Also, whilst it's none of my business, seeing Luke S take the title right now does leave a bitter taste in the mouth given recent events.
Id have loved Luke R to take it, hopefully he sorts out his issues before worlds
Cheers Toby kind words. What a night!
You smashed it mate, can't wait to see the next one 💪🏻
Saw you over in the Loz/Liz chat today. Gotta love the strongman community.
I'm always there! Absolutely love the strongman community, so glad to be a part of it
Andy Flynn surprised everyone 😮 he was incredible always in touch with everyone
I love Andy, such a great guy love seeing him do well
Never met Toby in my life, so this is no BS. What a great ..,err I'm old ... Tube thing! 😂 Good job Tobe
Haha cheers mate
Great summary Toby, your in depth knowledge of the guys shining through. Love how well paddy, Ben and Andy performed, such an exciting battle for that 3rd spot. Most of all so happy for Shane 🥹
Cheers! Yeah so pleased for them all
Great video, definitely a surprising outcome. Paddy#4 that was really good.
Cheers, yeah overall quite an exciting show
The livestream experience was not great.
Yeah I really enjoyed it watching on catch-up, shame about the live stream
Fantastic round-up of it. Im biased as im a Luke Stoltman fan but it was great to see him back after all the negative publicity. It certainty doesnt look like its had a negative effect on him as he looks in better shape than ever 👌
He looked focused and performed well! I was so pleased to see a lot of the newer names shine, cheers for watching
@TobyLifely great content, keep it coming Toby.
Will do mate, cheers
Paddy was very impressive, but that log was devastating. Hopefully he gets an invite to another Giants Live or two.
Id love to see him at Europes or the world deadlift champs
Never in fucking doubt😤
I went to the show and it felt like the steeplechase wrote a lot of the athletes off. Luke Richardson is my fave strongman (along with Mateusz and Trey) so was gutted to see him pull out. Very relieved to hear it’s not an injury!

Delighted for Shane and Andy Flynn getting invites to WSM. Hoping Luke Richardson and Mateusz are both ok for Europes as I have tickets to that.
Yeah I agree mate, was brutal!
Tbh i think picking Andy Black ahead Rauri oHagan was baffling tbh i was kinda not surprised not that Ben Glasscock was picked ahead of Paul Smith since he podiumed OSG Europe's and almost podiumed England's Paul hasn't had best of performances for while specially his last Brits where he wasn't great
Yeah I agree Rauri should've been in
Paddy Haynes was extremely impressive, happy for Luke to get the win though, it was well earned.
Luke was in good shape, so pleased for paddy, Ben and Andy showing what they can do. Shane too was very solid
The mighty Flynn love him ♥️
Such a nice guy
The second to last stones was cut from the replay when I watched
Yes it was unfortunately, I saw they uploaded it on the giants live UA-cam channel so saw it there
Ben was amazing by the way.
Ben was awesome
Luke Richardson has already secured a WSM invite (as has Tom), so with the podium all getting invites. Good luck for Ox's dude

People can respect Luke's performance as an athletes without bringing his personal choices into it for sure, he put on a great performance last night and as a strongman fan that's what I care about
I mean he had a kid with her don’t think his story really matters not sure what could justify himself. He just needs to own it and move on
This would be more accurate if he didn’t tout his family around and personal life around as a whole fake show of being a moral compass and family man. He did this to himself
Paddy did soo much better than his last Giants performance
Paddy showed what he can do, and I think he can do even better honestly, can't wait to see if he gets some other opportunities this year
I worry about Bish sadly. Is Gav okay?
Bish posted on Instagram that his mental wasn't there yesterday, so hopefully he can come in confident next time and back to it. No idea about Gav hopefully he's doing well
@TobyLifely I won't wait for Bish on UA-cam, I might be in my coffin the next time he posts 😂 Is he doing Europe's? Gav was my first strongman meet, so I have a soft spot.
I don't know actually mate, Gav was also my first strongman meet
Luke R will concentrate on Worlds now hopefully. ❤
Hope so, hopefully he gets himself sorted
@TobyLifely He deserves it more than anyone. ❤️
I agree, I have a lot of time for Luke
Love the channel though. Nice to get some Young blood in the strength community
Cheers mate!
Think Giants live made a big mistake adding a 3 rd bag ..felt sorry for Paddy zeroing the log think this cost him a podium But a great podium 3
Nah I liked the third bag, separated the men from the boys, guys knew it would be tough should have prepped better, might sound harsh but don't want it being a foot race.

@TobyLifely hardly a 'payday' that is it.
I did like your video and presentation 💪
Hey id sling some sandbags around for a couple hundred quid, he has posted that he tweaked his hamstring so I do hope he's alright I mean no ill will to him
🌶🌶🌶
I had luke stoltman for the win
I had him for 2nd
I've had a rant already, I apologise everyone. I'm just going to have another. Anyone who says GL is an easy comp is an idiot. I'm sick of hearing, oh it's light, it's not the Arnolds, yada yada. It's 5 events in just under 5 hours. Anyone who podiums at any GL comp deserves to be be at Worlds, SMoE, Arnolds or Rogue. End of rant, sorry again 😂
Every comp is different, heavier, quicker whatever it is, the best guys will win regardless
@TobyLifely sorry for ranting mate, it just pisses me off. Strongman is so random, that's what makes it great, but some people and 'the big 4' 😂
Haha mate rant away that's what the comments are for !
Live stream was dog mess. I loved the show.
Yeah I heard as much, shame, hopefully they fix it for the next one
A healthy Richardson would have definitely won that. Sometimes you can’t predict these things.
Yeah that's strongman, never goes how ya expect hahaha
No athlete should be judged for his personal life end off.
I seen some saying Luke only won because of pullouts Lets be honest Gavin didn’t pull out and he pasted out in front of 8000 people. Luke not feeling well? Bishop the same, well he did medley and we all knew he wasn’t the best at pressing
Congratulations to Luke S he won it on event one and he knew it
Luke was a convincing winner, he was in great shape, no ifs and buts about it can only beat who has turned up and turned up in shape.
I still think Luke S would of won, if the guys continue The first event was same for everyone
My only disappointment is Paddy overhead I honestly think he needs help with his overhead and did a enough to earn a podium
@ he definitely would have been up there for sure, he had no weaknesses yesterday and was in very good shape. Paddy is working hard at his overhead, just takes time, I am sure we will see it improve even more as the year goes on
Overall performances were down as a whole. Not the best comp production and competition wise. Onwards and upwards from here
Yeah the names we expected didn't deliver but that did allow for newer names to shine, hopefully the tech issues are sorted by Europes
There's not one strong man competition on Earth that needs a Brit in every group and reserves except Britain's strongest man, that's ridiculous.
I agree but that's how worlds works with TV contracts unfortunately, should be based off of performances only
I couldnt tell if Glasscock was trying to be sarcastic in that interview or just nerves but it came off as sarcy
I doubt it was intentionally sarcy, not sure which interview you meant but I didn't think he came across like that in any I saw
