    A’s fans deserve FAR BETTER! I’m an outsider that started following this situation over the last couple of months. As I’ve learned more about how much of a disaster this situation is, I’ve totally flipped from thinking the A’s didn’t have support (the old narrative) to realizing how awful John Fisher is and how unfair this all is to fans.

      Sadly with the MLB owners unanimously approving the relocation, the league won't force him out until he makes a mockery of the league. So far he's only made a mockery of one team.

    I’ve gone through all the stages of grief and though common sense tells me to calm down and move on…I’m even more angry now the more the facts of this tragedy become apparent. I really wish they would leave the team name, colors and history in Oakland or more importantly not in LV., because I will be rooting for this whole thing to flop flat on its face. You want the truth, there it is. Oh and I will not adopt another team. I am faithful to my A’s and no other. This is even more traumatic than the Raiders leaving by a factor of 10x. Manfred is so so out of line with his awful comment about becoming a Giants fan.

    • @P31B
      @P31B 6 місяців тому +4

      Exactly. Them taking for granted thinking we'll become Giants fans soon enough, so no loss to the bottom line. Hence why I'm over MLB as a whole. Just need to work hard to find other ways to fill the time

      I am a Giants fan and that is one of the most disrespectful and disgraceful comments imaginable from a commissioner. Unreal how A’s fans are being treated it really does not sit right with me. I am so sorry it has came to this. Rob Manfred’s fingerprints on baseball’s history are nothing short of shameful.

    If I had it my way, as a giants fan, not a single baseball fan would step foot in the coliseum this year. I understand the players have nothing to do with this but this (dis)Organization deserves to be further humiliated and humbled by the fantastic fans in Oakland. It’s mind boggling this mistreatment of a fan base is allowed. Shame and continued bad karma on Fisher and Manfred for life.

      It would be even better if nobody stepped foot in a new stadium in Las Vegas. (If that happens). That would be a statement that fans see how A’s fans were treated and will not enable bad owners.

    I seem to go through the stages of grief, then rinse and repeat, and go back through them. This long tortuous nightmare is severely depressing mood killer. Even when the A's had bad teams, wasn't so bad because I could always look towards the future...now? Can't even do that.

    This was important and well done. Thanks for using this outlet for real talk. I've had so many emotions re them leaving, it's been a rough year. And very much like family. The A's are the one thing that brought MY family together. And with life changes, it has been very symbolic of our dynamic now. 😢

  • @smokey5100
    @smokey5100 6 місяців тому +6

    This brand is completely woven into the social fabric of Oakland and the East Bay. It is generational. Not only that, professional sports have provided significant jobs and contributions to the communities here. The East Bay really depends on having the A's rooted in Oakland. It will be heartbreaking IF they leave and hell we won't even be able to catch an A's game on our local stations anymore and there's one less affordable thing to do with the family. Not only that we LOVE this team and fought WITH them for decades! This has so many more negatives than positives. Compare our sincere fight of trying to keep our team here at home to a very underwhelming response from Las Vegas's actual residents where a majority of folks there could care less if the A's showed up. It's very disheartening and I can compare the feeling of losing a loved one.

    Thanks for this Brodie. Definitely an aspect of being a fan of this, or any, team that isn't really considered. I know I haven't been the same since April 19th, I'm sure this the case for many. Not to speak for anyone else but shame on me (us?) for being devoted fans. This is just a reminder that that devotion is a one way street. Taught me a lesson to never be a fan again. Helluva lesson to learn at 61yrs of age and an A's fan since I was 9. Shame on me.

    I think the best path forward is to let John fisher and all his horribleness be Las Vegas’ problem. And Oakland retain the name, colors etc with an expansion team and hopefully good owners

    Honestly, as Bay Area native, Oakland Athletics fan, and current LV resident:
    I'd be happier if Fisher abandons the Tropicana site and builds somewhere else. It's just such a bad location with all the potential traffic.
    I'd be even happier if Fisher relocates the team to another city and doesn't take our public money.
    I'd be even happier if Fisher finds some way to build a stadium in Oakland.
    I'd be happiest with regards to this situation if Fisher sold the team to a competent owner who will build a new stadium in Oakland.
    As it is right now, it just feels like a worst case scenario for me personally.

    I'm an East Bay person, not west bay ever! Now that the Raiders left, I'm done with NFL, period. Once Steph, Dramond and Clay are gone, I'm probably done with the NBA. Once the A's are gone, I'll be done with MLB.

    This is a great segment. I went though a small period if I was gonna ditch baseball and fandom. played my entire life through high school and some JC. Still my favorite sport and I bleed green and gold. Fischer and bobblehead Kaval broke my baseball heart. I'll still go to some games this year but I think I'm all Guardians this year only because it Stephen Vogt's rookie year coaching as a skipper. Always loved that guy. Totally rooting for him. I'm conflicted.

    If there's any fan base that deserves a new park, its Oakland A's fans. Texas and Atlanta got 2 new parks the last 25 years thanks to taxpayers subsidies with no pushback. Both Florida teams getting (got)new parks with much lousier support than Oakland.

    A's fans have been kicked around by everyone as of late . The mlb , the politicians, the ownership even other fan bases have been rough on us. Could it be that A's fans are the most hated fanbase 🤔 maybe thats to dramatic but the disrespect is strong against a fanbase that to some doesn't exist. Go figure.

    Somewhere out there in the mulitverse, exists a universe where no MLB team ever moved. The A's stayed in Philly, and NYC still has a menagerie of teams. The Mets never existed, and instead other cities that got relocated teams ended up with expansion instead.

    Let's see here, the Raiders left, the Warrior moved across the Bay Area, In-N-Out Burger closed shop, Denny's closed as well, other businesses have closed, due to rampant crime plaguing the city, homelessness has gotten worse, long time residents have left, while others are on the way to moving elsewhere, and now the Athletics are following suit.
    Guess Oakland can't keep it's act together and fix all issues destroying the city.

    The Athletics started in Philadelphia, PA in 1901: AL Pennants (9): 1902-1905, 1910-1911, 1913-1914, 1929-1931, World Series (5): 1910-1911, 1913, 1929-1930. The Athletics moved to Kansas City, MO in 1955-1967 and did not win nothing. So in 1968, The A's moved to Oakland: AL Pennants (6): 1972-1974, 1988-1989, 1990, World Series (4) 1972-1974, 1989. For the A's owners not to build a new stadium in Oakland, CA after 123 yrs. is a Cardinal Sin. The A' aint winning in Vegas.

      The owner got rid of the best players every year to make sure the fans didn’t support the team. Every season we have to try to learn the names of all the new players. Just when they start playing well they get traded. It’s been hard to watch but I do it every year.
