Breaking the habit is totally what has to happen. After nearly 2 years of TSM I was drinking less, but still daily. It took a bad fall (nothing broken, but battered and bruised) for me to change a habit of the last 40 years. If done 22 AF days now - I might have a drink (with Naltrexone of course) after 33 days ... or I may not. Thank you so much Claudia and Katy.
I'm currently a patient in a psychiatric ward watching Claudia👽💙 & another of her TSM YT vid's , on loop, for hours. I really need to bring this pill & TSM up while I'm here, & use this place as a form of detox centre. 👽🙂

@@josea3008 Side effects are different from person to person. I had terrible cotton mouth so if/when you start TSM get lots of water. I lost some weight as alcohol had calories, and I cut that out. TSM drinking is an ODD perspective - for me it was like watching yoursefl get drunk :/ Worse side effect for me was a pretty bad head ache

TSM is the bomb ! a truly ground-breaking treatment for AUD.
Not everyone has a doctor that they can call when they have questions. Most alcoholics only contact with Doctors is via thru Emergency room. And you don't get to contact them when you have a questions.

Excellent interview and in depth pointers. The main thing I took from it was each person is different and will respond differently to the medication. Also, I need to be prepared to play some part in 're-setting' my habits and activities.

I’m a weekend binge drinker ( musician and it comes with the job). Need a change. Being last one at bar had list its luster This is the method for me. I took the pill before but didn’t know about the Sinclair method. Gonna stick to it and have patience. Thank you
Has anyone who has drank to calm anxiety found help with Naltrexone? I have been able to power through and avoid "boredom" drinking, but what always makes me cave is my anxiety.

Thank-you for these videos!!! Life saving. I no longer drink hntil I pass out. It works!!! I have more sober days than not....and I have an off switch now. I dont feel sick anymore....no more hangovers. I can have a few beers (vodka too strong with this med) and I am satisfied.
I feel like I’m the perfect candidate for this. your experience so much like mine. I absolutely hate socializing without several drinks. Would be amazing to enjoy a glass of wine or mimosa then just enjoy the company I’m with.

Currently on naltrexone, i had one beer and tipped the rest away. It really didn’t bother me, before I would always hav the thirst all I could think about is more.
It was compulsive.

I personally don’t drink alcohol never had the urge to drink,maybe a drink a year or one in two years.
But my girlfriend has a problem with alcohol.Love her very much but it does bring problems into our relationship.I think it is also important to replace the addiction with a positive one like running,hiking,bicycling,etc…

When you took that year off from drinking did you use the Naltrexone? Do you only use the pill if you are planning on drinking?
just got my naltrexone yesterday, doc wanted me to start on it last night (and take it every day whether I'm drinking or not). I was gonna take half a tab but decided to wait till the weekend when I will drink. (I don't drink during the week very often). I'm nervous about the side effects while at work so if I get them I want to be at home. Do you get the side effects if you use naltrexone while drinking as opposed to when you're not? That's something I haven't heard anyone address yet. I'm excited to start (I really want to fully quit eventually), but need to proceed cautiously. I'm grateful for having come across Claudia's ted talk which started me on this path and everything everyone has posted about their experiences.

I didn’t have any side effects. Starting my 2nd run on this. I didn’t give it enough time 1st time. There is effort involved
So this gives you the chance to lower the effects of withdrawal by keeping drinking until you slowly stop, not go cold turkey and then anxiety hell afterwards.

I switched to vaping weed extract about a year ago. If you can't get rid of a vice, then replace it with a less harmful one.

if a person is taking naltrexone daily without alcohol lets say for a month, then have a drink, does the naltrexone help not drink as much
Great question Selena! Truthfully, it varies greatly by individual as people respond differently to the medication. Naltrexone has been shown to help with alcohol cravings and help binges.
Has TSM or Naltrexone been used to treat other forms of addiction?
In the book, The Cure for Alcoholism, Dr Roy Eskapa discusses other addictions TSM has been used for. Hope that helps!
She says at 7:15 once you're physically dependant it's "just a matter of slowly tapering off the alcohol and re-learning how to drink" shows she has little real experience with the true alcoholic. I've been in AA for 37 years and have met and known thousands of other alkys. Never seen it happen.
But if you are a beginning problem drinker maybe it helps. Give it a try. I had a sponsee leave AA and try it and it worked for a few weeks, then ultimately he missed the effects of alcohol and has destroyed his life. But he is a real alcoholic. Not a beginning problem drinker.
I take umbrage that she stated before she went to 12 AA meetings and they didn't work. If anyone here is a REAL alky and you try AA, give it everything you got for 90 days. That means get a sponsor and work the steps as they are laid out in the Big Book. It's a new way of life. Not just quitting drinking.

Yes, you can still enjoy some part of drinking and you can get intoxicated on TSM, if you are not mindful of every sip. TSM just gives you a much better chance of saying " that's enough for now". Doing 5his repeatedly leads to a gradual taper over 4-12 months. The award-winning documentary 'One Little Pill' on Amazon, Google Play and Vimeo.

That feel good buzz gets blocked and you quit long before you drink enough to get drunk. Also the thoughts go away! It's like flipping a switch! It's just a trip!
Those in the wine trade do not get very far unless they spit. Professional tasters must try and evaluate many wines at a time. They can enjoy the bottle of wine on their time with a meal or while dining at a restaurant. Those with drinking problems are unlikely to succeed in this industry.

What do u have to say to true alcohols that can’t do this. I have down this I have done this 100% I think there are different alcoholics.. I am so happy for those that can. I think if you have been 30+ year alcoholic no this won’t work. That takes alot more to change your receptors. A 10 year drinker yes this might work. So do it but if you are an older person that’s been on the oiss for 30 years no. It doesn’t work

Save the Children - Teach Cooking I know it works for opiates for sure. Naltrexone is like naloxone (same thing maybe even) which is the "save shot" they use to pull you out of a Heroin coma.

Well, it seems you are feeling desperate. While I don't know how much you drink, you might want to drink a little bit less than usual. It sounds as though you are having too much of it. But stopping your drinking...? Why? If it's also what makes you happy and glad. Don't think alcohol is really the problem. Do you?

This medication could be a good add-on treatment. However, if the underlying issues that cause a person to drink to excess aren't addressed, this medication will not solve the real problem. Alcoholism is merely a symptom of a larger psychological issue. People cope in different ways. The alcoholic or addict's brain anesthetizes as a means of escape/coping and it takes years to reshape the psyche into being able to respond appropriately to one's environmental stressors, triggers, and/or past traumas.

Nope, addiction is a physical dependence. You drink because the cravings are so bad that you can’t stop long before they come back. All the rest are just excuses to drink.

@@savethechildren-teachcooki5149 The physical cravings are manifestations of withdrawal. Alcoholism is fraught with comorbidities--and then there is genetic disposition as well. It is a bit more complex than you give it credit for. However, if you are a recovering alcoholic, whichever methodology or understanding of it that keeps you well is one I will not argue with. I just wanted to post some additional information on the subject matter.

My wife being a raging hardcore alcoholic actually needed detoxification instead of naltrexone. She needed full detox because her liver was going bad. Subsequently she kept drinking, and died.
Gross and competency by the Sinclair practitioners we dealt with.
I’m so sorry to hear! That’s heartbreaking!!! I ended up in hospital and then went thru a detox immediately right after. It was in after care, that the doctor gave me Naltrexone. I know nothing I can say will make anything better, but I am truly sorry for your loss
