    Thank you for this video. I have mine hooked up to a police flasher, but would like to do them this way. I got the adjustable relay you have but the other relay you are using, how many pins does that one have on it. I know so little about wiring so this helped a lot and I thank you.

    Thanks for this video. Wired mine up using your method and my lights flash! Only thing is, I forgot to get an ADJUSTABLE flasher relay, so I only had a normal one where it flashed the lights at about the same speed as yours when you sped them up in the vid.. I ordered an adjustable one off eBay and they sent out a normal one but I didn’t complain as it took ages to arrive at my house and it’s too much messing around to send one back and get another.. It’s been a few months now though so I thought I’d give it another try. Hopefully 3rd time lucky. Also I don’t know how people find that difficult as I’ve never wired lights or anything before and I got mine working.. Thanks again 😄

    I went to lights to go inc and got their rail road flasher and it works great. Sometime in the near future I'll need to publish a video of my railroad light collection.

    How do you wire the switch on the rails approaching to activate these lights before and turn off after crossing?

    Hi again. I dont know if its too much to ask but can you do another video following the wires from both relays to the lights and each individual component. Your method sounds promising and I have both relays but the wiring must be wrong because its not working to your example you demonstrate. Hope to get some help. Thank you.

      @@tony-lq7yk Well first I hear a terrifying buzzing sound as I use a near 12 volt maybe 16 volt dc model train transformer as the power source. As I power it up higher the sound dies down but the lights don't flash. If anything one light is really bright while the other is dim. I'm not an electrician but I swore I got it right but clearly I did something wrong or bought the wrong parts. I will make a video showing what I did and maybe that can help you see what I did wrong and when the video is done ill share the link. I'm using two smaller model train bulbs as test bulbs so I dont damage the rr lights once they get hooked up.

    Hello. What products all together did you have to purchase? I noticed you had to buy the flash relay but also keep in mind the flash rate. I have an electrical source but not sure where and what relay I would need and for sure I would want to adjust the flash rate. Hope to hear from you. Thanks.

    • @TempoDrift1480
      @TempoDrift1480 2 роки тому +1

      80 amp draw for a relay is waaaaaaaaay too much for this setup. Each of your light heads should draw 2-3 amps and your flasher should draw about 1-2 amps. Your switch relay the same at 1-2 amps. You would need wire of a half inch diameter to run a relay that draws 80 amps. However... If I've misunderstood your question, you CAN use a relay that is RATED for 80 amps but your replay coil should not draw 80 amps.

      I have a 4 light railway crossing flashers with the incandescent original bulbs. I am powering with a ho train transformer and it works fine for about a minute then it overheats and cuts out. I didnt think it would affect the transformer with too much load. Any ideas?

    • @tony-lq7yk
      @tony-lq7yk  7 років тому

      hi there i will be honest i dont know much about ho equipment . but when you add the load from the flasher coil then four lights but only operating two due to the flashing plus a bell if connected it sounds a lot for a ho transformer to run. back to the flashing every time an incandescent bulb switches on the split second between power up and the filament actually heating up the load is alot higher ( a flashing bulb needs a higher amperage due to that ) a cold filament has less resistance than a hot . that might be what is causing that all the best. tony

    Typical electrician explaining how to do things as if everyone viewing the video is a master electrician. Too much babbling distracts from the subject matter. Audio drops out, no sensible explanation of the charts, bad camera angles with poor lighting makes many scenes too dark. When giving instructions, it has to be stated as simply as possible. Not everyone automatically knows what you're talking about.
