I've had the privilege of riding in this fantastic carriage. The owner and creator is one of the nicest and most helpful people you could ever meet. He's built everything you see himself. So modest and a joy to know him.
That has to be the best 7 1/4 gauge passenger carriage I've ever seen. I hope you have more than one now and put up another video to show how things have gone along.
Wow that’s impressive! I’m going to build in 7 1/4 inch gauge soon. Seems to be nice and cosy. That would be an awesome addition to any 7-1/4 inch gauge fleet by far. Awesome video and thanks for sharing.
That, plus water-tankers for mine. That way I can take my lunch out when I'm tending the gardens.
Next you should try and make a sleeper car
Great fun Paul, the coach rides really well, amazing what you can get on 71/4 inch line. The coach is beautifully made, as is the loco, well done!
For the gauge this is really impressive
Thats the first enclosed car in 7 1/4 in that Iv'e seen. Luxury! Back in my day...
Not only a great course but also a superb idea for VIP guests 👍
I could see taking a nice little half hour or hour ride somewhere with an Old Fashion to keep me company in this.
Great idea, when does the tea and currant bun get served? Any chance of a bacon butty??
Now that's what I call style .
height, width, length of buffet car? Great build......Genius
That is a nice luxurious coach
Oh wow! This is ace!
That is all I'd want in life XD Great job
Very similar to the one i saw behind 'Otter' at the BHLR!
Beautiful
Is it at all possible to get in contact with you guys in order to learn how you built this ? I’m looking for something similar for my railway.
Fab. Could I ask about the seat width, height of the seat off the floor, the space (pitch) between the seats, internal length and height of the coach? Ta!
Excellent Video!! Thoroughly enjoyed it! Is this a private railway? Can one purchase one of these lovely coaches?
That is quality!
What a dream Job
Imagine get paid for driving Small Locomotives.
Is there any chance you would share a general arrangement drawing of your lovely little buffet car?
Wow so cool! I can imagine actual real trains pulling this (I mean, for business purposes)
Awesome
Just as fast as a Sydney suburban train
Ah yes, at least. A good place for a meeting lunch.
I’ve dreamed of having a 7.7” gage dinner train.
What a brilliant idea, very good, is the track yours or part of a club?
This like something out of top gear
What would be nice in the car is to have the table fold down and the seats to go into a bed
are the windows glass or plexi-glass?
where can you get the buffet car i love it so much
Какой уютный вагончик. Можно обзор этого вагона.?
Some Guards have all the luck
It's my dream too have a 71/4 inch gauge railway or 5 inch. what railway was it filmed on or was it your own track/railway? I liked, subscribed and turned on notifications.
Hiya What length and width is it as I'm trying to build my own ?
Many thanks
had no idea you can make coaches at that scale
I think this beats the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch's record for smallest operating bar car, although theirs does have room for an attendant. This is great. I've been trying to figure out just how far one can push the loading limits of 7 1/2" gauge (I'm in the States, west of Pennsylvania) and still have a stable car at speed. I'd say this one is probably at the limits. I'm finding the bench cars to be too hard on my senior citizen body anymore. If anyone who knows reads this, could you provide dimensions and weight of the car? Thanks.
This is the dimensions of South West Steam Engineerings ride in coach: Coaches: 10ft long, 4ft tall, 25" wide, 10mm (3/8in) thick internal wood plank walls, 4mm (1/8in) thick plywood exterior walls; 3mm (3/32in) thick steel floor, steel frame.
Paul, the answer is "ballast" :). The usual rule of thumb is 3x track gauge for width, so 21-22" wide at the base. The way to stable is to make a "drop frame" (or depressed center) car, with ballast at the bottom. If you are only going to pull 1-2 cars, then if the car weighs 1000 lb before passengers, that's fine...even a 200 lb engine will manage. What my thought process is would be to make the base of it out of sheet steel, probably 1" thick- that'd give a sheet at the bottom of ~500 lb. Remember that rerailing such a car is going to be a cast iron (or steel) pig though :). If the bodywork on the car weighs in at 300-400 lb, that should provide a very stable riding car.
My problem is simple- how do I both drive, and sit in the car :).
(and, I have to make a driving car first, which is weight limited, because 3/4ths of my current fleet are 3.5" gauge, and don't have the weight to cope with 1500 lb of train on 2" grades...)

Is it complete build out of wood?
Was it a comfortable ride?
Practically speaking what’s the lowest seat height (from rail level) and the lowest roof height above that, which is possible?
Ez a kocsi nagyon tetszik!! Le írnád nekem a méreteit??
It could be suitable for chess playing.
comfy
omg that engine is so cute
All you need now is a sleeping car...loll....
Nippy lttle thing
how did you build here?
amazing ,, anti Corona carriage ..
Can I get the eggs benedict?
what is the speed?.
By doing some rough guessing I would say that was anything between 5-10 mph
Syed Javed Ahmad most 7 1/4 railway trains have a top speed of 10mph and usually operate at 8mph when in service for rides
hui, Richtig Bahn schmalerspur...
Ughh - another non corridor train.
Instead of rioting and looting people should spend their energy creating things.
I have a switch track for sale
Only got 15secs in and want one....fkin brilliant.
I guess the steward swings in though the window with a gin and tonic.
I hate it when I miss the 4 o’clock service from Backdoorsmith to sheddington via flowerbedlico
