    Thank you Coach Anthony for this excellent and insightful video. Since I’m a 5’10”Welterweight (147 lbs) to Super Welterweight (154 lbs) boxer and southpaw I mainly fight and box guys shorter than me. Basically, my style is very similar to Winky Wright and Errol Spence. In my sparring and for future fights, I am always ready for taller opponents. I love that Gazelle hook (Tank Davis:) and the other tactics that you give us- feints, give target and take it away, head movement to disguise moving in footwork, and stay on the inside. Thank you and God bless you ALWAYS.😎🥇🔥

    One thing I had to learn about the slip counter 2 was that sometimes I'd have to step forward while slipping to reach a taller fighter with my 2.

    Love this, there is a guy at my gym who is 3 inches taller than me and I just eat his jabs when we spar. Plus he double jabs alot, so I migh slip or catch the first jab, but he catches me with the second. It's been super frustrating to spar with him. I did catch him once with an overhand so I can attest to that and the few times I am able to get inside I definitely go to work, but I am going to practice these moves and see if I can pull them off the next time we spar. I appreciate the content, your channel is a gold mine. I've been using these tips along with my regular training for a few years now. Thank you coach!

      It’s actually kind of different than orthodox fighting another orthodox because of the center lining of the feet the jab hands and the angles of execution. For example if a right hand fighter jab the southpaw can parry with his lead hand and come with the left or slip to the outside line of the left jab and cone over top with his own right cross. Southpaw stance are all about creating more angles. I’m southpaw

    🥊🇵🇭 ALOHAAAAA KAI here still 10yo from the Philippines...luvvvved the crystal clear instructions to fight taller boxers... I am almost 5ft now and maybe will get taller since my Dad is 6ft 4inches...the professionals at my training gym are all taller than me so I get a lot of time sparring with taller fighters.. (I even sparred one round with Marlon The Nightmare Tapales when I was 5yo and he was WBO Bantamweight CHAMP 2016-2017 when we both trained at Rex Wakee Salud Gym...I am at MS KUO BOXING GYM now and he is at WILD CARD GYM with Coach Freddie Roach lucky him....to give him the credit due he was still super slick even when he got on his knees to be at my height.. Fun Fun Fun ) ...Most in my age group and up to 13yo are shorter than me... I usually eat them up from outside then pressure them into a corner or on the ropes and use non stop quick combinations moving in and out inches only till they tapout LoL...is that the best way to fight shorter fighters...btw I am a girl and train with all guys 13yo amateurs and older professionals...take that into consideration (the 13yo guys still can't touch me LOL).. thanks 🥊🇵🇭🎉💲

    Great video! Esp. Im 9/10 shorter then my opponents 😊 what also works for me is step first with my rear leg almost to my front leg and then make a regular step with with a jab. It gives this 10 extra inches and is not so obvious to notice. Not by the book maybe but gave me some success.
    Thanks coach for the work you are doing!

    • @joelcastro-reyes1667
      @joelcastro-reyes1667 Рік тому +3

      That's the way Joe Frazier would step, back to front. It's how he could load up even his jab with some extra force. The weakness in it is landing the punch takes a bit more time. Frazier overcame that with his head movement.

    Second or third time I sparred, I got my butt whooped by a taller, heavier sparring partner.
    As a southpaw I was throwing the jab - I was being stationary and probably did a bunch of other things wrong... He would just lean back and counter with a right hand. Smacked me with it several times.
    I didn't even step in with the lead foot as I jabbed, had no defensive moves after I threw something, no nothing...I just didn't know what to do.
    Then I picked up on my stupidity and feinted a jab and noticed how he leaned back... but it was too late - in the 2nd round he unloaded on me and I went down... Not on my butt, but I crumbled into a deep squat.
    That was the end of a short brutal session 😂 Went home with a bloody lip.
