Astonishing amount of research Leigh, a mammoth task indeed, inspiring more location visits. You didn't get thrown out or fall over once! Well done that man.
simply outstanding knowledge leigh, deserves a standing ovation 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏, cheers from new🥝🥝🥝zealand, of a chilly🥶🥶🥶 winters evening, 🍺🍺🍺 o’clock after a hard day, cheers all summer winos 🍻 🍻🍻🍻🍻
Great video Leigh great facts about last of the summer wine pubs I like it the lads go and have a drink and chatter I went to a huntsman inn just outside holmfirh nice pub
I really enjoyed that Leigh thank you, I wonder if the boys enjoyed real ale during the pub scenes?, some of their pints look lovely. I have a lovely photo of my motorcycle parked outside The White Horse during my visit in 2000 and Ron was behind the bar. You have given me a real yen to revisit and pay my respects to Cleggy and Compo. Many thanks again Leigh. Best wishes. Gérard lacey in Ireland.
Thanks Gerard. Beer on tv is usually non-alcoholic, otherwise you risk getting the cast drunk! We did have a pint at the White Horse, but we did not have time to have a drink at every pub!
Really interesting video and I can't even imagine how much research went into making this . I know many of the pubs from working in the trade around these areas , but still learned a great deal watching . Thank you very much .
Thank you very much Mark! As some of the pubs have closed, many being converted to private homes, finding accurate information was tricky. Overall research, writing and filming for all the episodes up to and including "The Last Drop" took two years! We still have a few more "Last of the Summer Wine" related videos, and more on other shows, too...
Fantastic Leigh. Been looking for a summer wine pub reference for ages and this is the ultimate one i would say. Will be in holmfirth in a couple of weeks and look forward to having a few in the white horse.
Thanks "Topps"... "Probably the best pub reference in the world” ... and for anyone that didn't realise; Carlsberg started using the slogan "Probably the best lager in the world” in 1973, the same year Summer Wine started, and stopped using it about 38 years later, just after Summer Wine ended!
Hello thank you for taking your time to explain to facts about one of my favourite programs, I love the music used by you could you please tell me the name.I prefer the early shows.never enjoyed the Russ Abbots shows,as they seem far to over played.I still miss it. Thanks again.Allan
You're very welcome, Allan! The music was specially composed for my video series, so it does not have a name! It was composed and performed by Augusto Diniz (linktr.ee/augustodiniz).
The last exterior scene was S28 ep9 "Howard Remembers Where He Left His Bicycle Pump". The last interior was probably S30 ep 8 "In Which Romance Springs A Leak", although it could have been S31 ep5 "Look Whose Wheel's Come Off" which resembles the Butchers Arms, but couldn't verify it, just from what is on screen.
@@upstagedbyadog I've checked the episode from Series 31, and on one of the shots, it reads The Royal Oak on one of the chalk-board signs in the background. It's very likey to be The Royal Oak in Upperthong that appears in this episode.
@@imafilmbuff You're likely correct. The pub interiors did not always match the exteriors. The Royal Oak exterior was used a few times in early episodes, but the interior was never seen. The Butchers Arms looks very different viewed from certain parts of the pub, being split in two, as it was originally two buildings, and did substitute for the interior of other pubs a few times.

Very well said indeed . Eight pubs in Hade Edge at one time !? That must have been one pub for every 10 people I imagine !
A brilliantly researched article..
Thank you, Alex!
Another fun adventure brought to Us by your hard work. Thank you
Thank you Jesse!

I remember the first pub serving through a hatch, got through some packets of crisps. There has also been some miserable landlords as well
You put a lot of leg work in on this film. Excellent ! !
Thank you David. Yes, literally.. a lot of walking involved!
Walking, thinking, reading, investigating, You Worked Hard !@@upstagedbyadog
Very interesting. Thank you
Pleased you think so, Alan!
Another diamond Leigh, if it was up to me i would recommend you for a Knighthood or an MBE or something.
He'll have to walk the Royal Corgis first.
That's very kind, but can I have the money instead!?
Last Of The Summer Wine FOREVER......and I'm an American....!!!
Where is the Pennine Inn, the only one I've found is based Kirkby Stephen.
Hi filmbuff! It's practically the only pub we didn't mange to locate, despite trawling lots of pub-related web sites and forums of closed pubs!
Melt-ham as you pronounced it is act mell-thum, regards, great video
Thanks ... I have a bit of a speech impediment, which isn't great for someone presenting on camera. I pronounced "Standedge" properly!!
it was martha longhurst
... can't read my own writing!

In which episode did The Butcher's Arms make it's final appearance in the series?
