When my son died ,l put this programme on after a couple of weeks, I watch it every day ,l think it got me through some of the days ahead , don't know why, those half hours removed me from the grief I was feeling, best sitcom ever 🙂 Thank you!
I am sorry for your loss. I can totally relate. The dvd boxed set let me tune out out each night after my divorce. It took away that sadness and let me giggle and smile and laugh! And it still is. It's brill humour and always will be. 😊
Greetings from America I'm 57 and I've enjoyed LOTSW on my local PBS channel and on UA-cam for 25 + years. I've always thought 2-3 old men going out every day to see what they could get into as the funniest premise ever for a program. The older I get the more I can identify with LOTSW the single greatest TV program in history.
July 29th 2023.I purchased this whole series and have watched it over and over.Thank you Roy Clark, you have made me smile so much.:Did I lock the door?: Yes,Cleggie, you did.RIP. Wonderful characters ❤❤
Absolutely a beautiful gentle clean comedy as a fan of the sitcom and a owner of every single episode on dvd i can relate to the timeless gentle humour of this sitcom without being crude or distasteful in my humble opinion a pure classic sitcom in every sense of the word 😊
My congratulations to you on your Last of the summer wine videos, I can see how much work it must have taken to research and produce them. This show has been a huge part of my life over many many years, and I have so many of them taped from telly on video and bought on dvd. I'm really enjoying your series of dedicated videos and you've given me a real yen to visit Holmfirth again. I remember tasting some lovely ales there as well as wonderful tea and scones in Ivy's cafe. Many thanks again Leigh and my best wishes to you. Gérard lacey in Ireland.
As a long time fan of the programme , I must congratulate the maker of these vlogs for the care and attention that has gone into them. Such a shame the appreciation society failed years ago , there is still so much interest that it could have flourished with input from people like this well informed gentleman.
@@upstagedbyadog Yes , I’ve been a “member “ for years , but it’s just not the same. The Appreciation Society was more personal and informative , and the little magazine “The Yardbrush” was much appreciated.
Believe it or not, I watch The Last of Summer Wine n Roses every night n enjoy every episode over n over again. This is always my favorite thing to watch. All of the actors were awesome. N Britian always has great comedy to watch. Kerpingbup Appearance,, Are u Being Served, The Manor Born n Open all Hours r many of my favorites. Thanks, Britian.🇺🇲
A great video Leigh, LOTSW is and always has been my favourite TV Comedy, I watch at least one episode every day. I was 20 when it started and I have seen every episode several times. One additional point of possible interest, regarding the inclusion of local places, characters, etc., is the appearance of Ashley Jackson, a local artist, in the episode "Loxley Lozenge" . It was a real pity it was cancelled, just when Hobo was getting into his stride, I'm sure it could had gone on for many more enjoyable episodes...
I was just two and a half when Summer Wine started and forty at the end. My favourite episodes are Oh Shut Up and Eat Your Choc Ice, Who's That Bloke with Nora Batty Then and Quick Quick Slow.
First saw an episode of either the first or the second series in the mid 1970's. Watched continuously up to the last few series. All episodes were rather similar, but always had the ability to be different enough each time to be really enjoyable and never get boring.
"Trivia: Series 16 to 20" popped up in my YT home feed this evening, looked intriguing, a series of info about LotSW. Here I am watching the first of your "Decanted" playlist. I've enjoyed LotSW for about 25 years from southwestern Pennsylvania, USA, thanks to a local PBS station, and I'm now about the same age as the original trio was at the beginning of the series 50 years ago (I'm 56½). I'm looking forward to watching your videos over the next - um, well, no scheduled plan; probably a few/several each week. Cheers from Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands region of the Appalachian Mountains!
Very grateful that this popped up on my subscription feed - and on my birthday to boot! This made for a perfect birthday present for this LOTSW addict, for which many thanks.
@@ghunt9146 I’m afraid that circumstances have got the better of me and I *greatly* regret I won’t be able to be there. I’ve already started gnawing my second foot off in sheer frustration at having to give it a miss.
I am in the US and I used to watch Last Of the Summer Wine on PBS. I have since bought the complete series on dvd and a region 2 player to watch them on.
This was a great show. I liked the guy with the ferret who was always after Nora. The show was so simple with the guys wandering around the place in the heat of the day.
My parents and I enjoyed the first episode of this series and promptly dubbed my dad compo. He was thin on top and was devoted to his Willy hat ( which he punched off me ) and said that it would need a general anaesthetic to remove it. Unfortunately mum died of a heart attack before the a reening
I really love watching the last of summer wine. With Bill Owen and his son Tom that appeared in the seares after Bill his dad passed away. I've seen were he his buered and next to him is his dear friend Norman Clegg. Norah Beatty, and her stockings. Then Martina and her cycling with their other friend to meet up after she had finished her work in the supermarket. Meany years ago I went on a coach trip with my friend who I work with in my early days of working for Tesco in Stratford upon Avon. Back in 1981 until. 2012. What I retired. To look after my mum in West Bromwich. Till I moved her to a nursing home in Stratford upon Avon opposite the theatre. She selebrated her 80 th birthday. Then passed away the following year the day after mothering Sunday. When I became very dipressed again. Because my Dad passed away on his birthday in 1971. They had been married for 25 years. But in 1976 some friends who she worked with in Halloween. With my Dad. My stepdad was a lorry driver.min Oldbury. Told me you can earn more in a wage , than your mum can. So I found a little job in carter's green west Bromwich. Until I moved to work in Mark's and Spencers in the town. And then they close to move to Merry hill. ?!! Hense I moved to Yardley for worked in Sheldon for a nice man that had a drawing office opposite the old Airport terminal. Next to a paper shop and a cleaning ferm, plus a fish and chips shop. So this programme use to make me happy and feel better with myself. Until I meet a lovely man who was a farmer and gardener. And we were together for 25 years in Henley in Arden. Then I lost my mum, and I walked out. Because of my depression again. Have been on my own and were I live now for 14 or 15 years. I am very happy now I don't need anyone to live with me. IAM looking for a small part time job again. To help keep the bank sweet. And the wolf from the door has they say. Like a good number of people me age and older. The way things have been since COVID. And lockdowns. You just need to get of your backside and get on with LIFE. Xxxx❤❤❤❤ love you all lots my son. My granddaughter.,her mum's family from her first marriage. That t have not seen in years because they all work for the queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham. Apart from the one who lives in London with him family and works down there. The only other family I had are two wonderful cousins in Lincoln that I visited on Friday and came back home last night. After a wonderful time with them both, and a carvery meal they took me for after my one cousin finished work cleaning for the railway station in Lincoln. ❤❤❤❤

I am 53, so three years older than you! Nora Batty and Smiler were really funny, especially when Smiler got drunk on Auntie Wainwright's homemade wine. He called Nora 'Bora Natty' - I was doubled up with laughter!
It is so sad that they're both gone this has been one of my favorite shows for over two decades and it doesn't matter how many times I see it I never get bored of it
I liked the programme, but felt that it was not as good, when they brought in Howard and Marina. I did not bother to watch it after Compo's funeral, because I thought that it should have really finished then. The real trio that I remember were Compo's, Clegg, and Foggy, and did not think that Seymour Utherswaite was as good as Foggy.

What happened to Foggy Dewhurst?
In "There Goes The Groom" Foggy (played by his double) is drunk and (offscreen) accidentally proposes the the postwoman, they go off to Blackpool.
Have you ever seen 1st of the Summer Wine on UA-cam
Hi Erik, I have the DVD's!
Hard to hear the guy for the background noises
The video does have subtitles. We cannot control the traffic.
Feel sorry for this guy... No ironed shirts available!?😢
My shirts? The material crumples easily, and so, for continuity, it does not look like it's pristine in one shot and creased in the next!
I'm sorry to say but the background traffic is loud and very distracting and in parts it overwhelms completely the narration.
There are sub titles. I can't stop the traffic.
@@johnaquillo3397 You try to do better then.
I'd still like to know what was inside that matchbox that Compo would open and frighten ladies with.
