I am SO conflicted. As a psych major, I’ve learned and seen how ineffective it is ( and damaging, and perpetuating) to say “ no killing” and then PUNISH a person, for killing, BY killing him/ her. I know, crazy. I’m also thinking the Old Testament says “ an eye for an eye”...... I just don’t know how to feel about this and the older I get, the more confused I become.

You explained everything in great clarity and I honestly felt as though I had been there with you watching all these events unfold, at least until they WRONGLY pulled down the curtains.
He may well have died of a heart attack...but no ''witnesses'' can testify that he wasn't PURPOSELY induced into one to make certain he died in that room. In other words, maybe they could have resuscitated him but decided not to and administered a heart attack potion that finished him off for good.
It's a disgrace that the people that were legally there to report on this sentence being carried out were not permitted to do so due to the incompetence of the medical team that I wouldn't allow to treat someone with an ingrowing toenail.

@John Smith yea, fkoff.. glad he *accidentally* went out in distress... Lockett later told police "he decided to kill Stephanie because she would not agree to keep quiet," court records state.
Neiman was forced to watch as Lockett's accomplice, Shawn Mathis, spent 20 minutes digging a shallow grave in a ditch beside the road. Her friends saw Neiman standing in the ditch and heard a single shot.
Lockett returned to the truck because the gun had jammed. He later said he could hear Neiman pleading, "Oh God, please, please" as he fixed the shotgun.
The men could be heard "laughing about how tough Stephanie was" before Lockett shot Neiman a second time.
"He ordered Mathis to bury her, despite the fact that Mathis informed him Stephanie was still alive."

In 1999, Lockett kidnapped and shot Stephanie Neiman, a nineteen-year-old high school graduate, a friend of Lockett's other victims, and a witness to his crimes. He used duct tape to bind her hands and cover her mouth. Even after being kidnapped and driven to a dusty country road, Neiman refused to back down when Lockett asked if she planned to contact police. After she stated she would go to the police as soon as he released her, Lockett walked her into a ravine, had his accomplices help her over a barbed wire fence, where Lockett shot her from a distance of approximately six feet with a 1/4 ounce slug from a sawed off 12 gauge shotgun. The impact from the slug tore into her chest and shoulder knocking her to the ground. At that time Lockett's gun jammed. As Nieman lay on the ground moaning in agony he walked back to their vehicle and using a screw driver unjammed the shotgun. As Nieman moaned and convulsed on the ground, Lockett walked back to where she lay across the fence, and while holding the shotgun over the fence approximately 2 feet from Niemans chest he pulled the trigger. Even though the second shot was directly in her chest it still wasn't fatal. As Nieman lay on the ground gasping for air he stated, "I ain't going to shoot her again", and decided to bury her alive.[10] Lockett ordered an accomplice to bury her while she was still breathing. She died from two wounds from a shotgun fired by Lockett.

      @MrFinnboy69 8 років тому +15

There are two systems in use in the United states for lethal injection, the one that used to be more common is the three drug cocktail, where you are first given a drug that takes you out, and then a drug that paralyses you and then a drug that stops the heart, but after problems getting the drugs needed and also the fact that if you wake up after you are paralysed you can not move and will just suffer a massive heart attack, and that would be cruel and unusual punishment, many states now use a singel drug to kill them, i dont know how it works or what drugs they are, but there has been alot of problems with that too...

Sympathetic feelings about the death of a human are understandable. Many people have enough empathy for life that no matter what the circumstances may be, they cannot understand nor accept responsibility for an extermination. I suggest, rather than observing an execution of a convicted murderer as though it was a sacrifice for mankind, we should provide a slide show during the execution, to emphasize remembrance of the life of the victim(s) so everyone can appreciate why the destruction of societies violators is necessary. Long live the memory of the victims lives lost.

As Nieman lay on the ground gasping for air he stated, " I aint going to shoot her again", and decided to bury her alive.[10] Lockett ordered an accomplice to bury her while she was still breathing. She died from two wounds from a shotgun fired by Lockett.[10] In 2000, he was convicted of murder, rape, forcible sodomy, kidnapping, assault and battery and sentenced to death.

It's not an either or situation for most people. Seeing anyone die a bad death, no matter who it is, is probably going to make a person feel some type of way about it that doesn't involve joy. Many people here that have no empathy for Lockett and how he died would probably feel differently if they actually saw it live and in person. It's easy to dismiss a person's death when it happens in a vacuum, but things change when you see death up close and personal like that. I have patients from all walks of life and I've yet to watch someone die where I felt absolutely nothing, even when the patient was a terrible person who caused harm to others. The day I feel nothing is the day I'll leave my profession behind.

He deserved a lot worse Lockett murdered Neiman on June 3, 1999. Stephanie, 19, had just
graduated from Perry High School, where she played the saxophone in the
    band, two weeks earlier.
Neiman and a female friend had stopped to visit another friend
named Bobby Bornt, 23, who was at his Perry home with his 9-month-old
    son.
Clayton Lockett, 23, his cousin, Alfonzo Lockett, 17 and Shawn
Mathis, 26, were already there. While Bornt's baby son slept in another
room, they had tied up and were beating Bornt because he owed money to
    Clayton Lockett.
When Neiman's friend went inside the home they hit her with a shotgun then forced her to call Neiman into the home.
They repeatedly raped Neiman's 18-year-old friend, tied up the two
women then used Neiman's truck to take the adults and the baby to a
rural part of Kay County. When Neiman refused to give Clayton
Lockett the keys to her truck or provide him the alarm code, he ordered
Stephanie to kneel while Mathis dug a grave.
Lockett shot her and the gun jammed. While Neiman lay there
screaming, the attackers cleared the jam and Lockett shot her a second
time. Even though she was still breathing, he ordered the other two
attackers to drag her into the grave and bury her.
They threatened to kill Bobby Bornt and Neiman's friend if they went
to police, but they did anyway. Perry police arrested the three
    attackers just three days later.

created created well as well I feel for you...if you were wrongfully accused and put on death row....but I have a good reason for my feelings and I make ZERO apologies for it....on February 14th 1992 at 5:45 when I was 8 months pregnant with my daughter I was awakened by a loud knock at my front door....it was several officers ,2 of which I knew very well and we're good friends with, when I saw them sobbing I knew it wasn't good...an ANIMAL a no good sorry worthless piece of trash that happened to live 3 houses down from my aunt and uncle, decided to kill the man he lived with, shoot his wife, reload his gun and made his way to the only house with lights on ,. My aunt and uncle were of course awake because she worked for the postal service and was up making coffee...he came to their kitchen door, kicked the door in,...shot my aunt, when my uncle ran out of the bathroom to see what was going on he was shot in the face....then he saw my aunt crawling towards the hall with the little bit of life she still had in her ,trying to warn her two sons and comfort her husband laying in the hallway dead...so he laughed at her, mocked her ,because she couldn't scream but was trying to wake her kids all the time he made fun of her with the gun to her forehead, he then shot her again killing her.. he went into Bryan's room, he had headphones in so didn't hear and was still asleep. He was a couple of weeks away from being married to his HS sweetheart...he put the gun to his head while he layed there sleeping and was no threat at all . And shot him in the head killing him instantly. ..by this time he woke the youngest son 15 yrs old...and as Brad opened his bedroom door he saw this evil monster coming for him and he grabbed the end on the rifle and fought with him, he blew his hand apart ,but he got away ....as he was running for his life he slipped on his parents blood and fell several times trying to get away...he made it out and ran to his sister's home in the same subdivision,...she was 9 months pregnant at the time and thankfully her husband was home and ran to the house to stop this asshole but he had stolen their keys and what little cash they had and was long gone....when he was about to be executed there was controversy over the drug being used on him as well...but THANKFULLY that didn't stop them from killing the bastard...look it up if you like his name was Jason Williams....we had to tell this 15 year old when he came out of surgery that not only was his parents gone, but his mentor, his idol his big brother who he looked up to was also dead...he had no idea ...that shattered him...he has been through hell on Earth since that day...nightmares , PTSD , depression...thankfully he was strong willed and broke through it....but this piece of shit took 3 beautiful amazing people from our family and left us destroyed, all because '" his ex-wife was refusing to take him back that morning and told him he couldn't have the drugs he had hidden in his house"' that's the reason he took our family and another man that was kind enough to take him in....so you will have to excuse me if I have strong opinions on the matter and believe that the man that took our family along with all the other GUILTY pieces of trash like him DO NOT DESERVE A PAINLESS DEATH AT ALL!!!!!! QUITE THE CONTRARY !!!!! I WISH HE WOULD HAVE JUMPED UP SCREAMING IN THE MOST EXCRUCIATING PAIN IMAGINABLE SO WE COULD LOOK AT HIM THROUGH THE GLASS AND LAUGH AT HIM AND MOCK HIM LIKE HE DID MY AUNT AS SHE TRIED TO SAVE THE LIVES OF HER CHILDREN!!!!!!!but unfortunately, he just went to sleep.... period....doesn't seem fair to me at all!!!!!! But maybe I'm a bit biased seeing as how I had to walk in a church and see three coffins in a row...and say goodbye to those beautiful amazing selfless, hard working people who would have given that asshole money, a ride anywhere had he just asked that morning....but he thought killing them was a better choice....so I'm so sorry but I ran out of sympathy for people like that on Feb 14th 1992 at 5:45 am

Bring back the electric chair. I remember when Ted Bundy was electrocuted. The DJ on the radio said, right before they flipped the switch, for everyone to turn on all their lights and electrical devices so Bundy would get the least amount of electricity possible, i.e., make it take longer.

These deaths are nothing to being killed in combat, so I feel nothing for him should not have buried her alive. If he had shot and killed her instantly she suffered so he deserves to suffer as well. Another thing if you lack the constitution for justice do not attend justice just like murder and rape is brutal in it's punishment as it should be for crimes of this magnitude.

Execution or "murder by committee" lessens society. It has nothing to do with lacking the constitution for justice. It isn't punishment but revenge. We as a society should be better than that even if some individuals aren't.

Nothing compared to what he did to his victim.
"The men beat [Stephanie Niemann] and used duct tape to bind her hands and cover her mouth. Even after being kidnapped and driven to a dusty country road, Neiman didn't back down when Lockett asked if she planned to contact police...Neiman was forced to watch as Lockett's accomplice, Shawn Mathis, spent 20 minutes digging a shallow grave in a ditch beside the road.

Such entertainment is not always easy to find so I'd like to personally thank that reporter for helping us all feel like we were there.

Young lady, you were poised, professional and impartial in this video. This is not meant to be political in any way, but in the pantheon of reporters who made it big in your chosen career, nearly all of them achieved that level of success by covering a major story. Indeed 12 alone did so by way of covering the OJ trial. But who am i telling. Just as easily though, one can fall from their perch by reporting untruths. Falsehoods (see Claas Relotius), exaggerations (see Brian Williams), and outright lies (see hundreds of political journalists. My life coach advice: 1. Use this experience to create further dialogue on the issue - whether you voice a sharp opinion or not. 2.Continue insisting on accurate information, whether incoming or out. 3. Ask hard questions both fair and unapologetically. Sure, you want to be liked and respected, but it's not a popularity contest. A friend once told me years ago that if you try to please everyone, you wont please ANYONE. 4. Hold people to what they've said previously and be prepared to back it up. 5. Whether you strive to be totally accurate but get scooped here or there, or if you want to be Johnny on the spot but have to later retract something or other, pick one and commit to it. Be absolutely consistent. If you do these, and some might add to the list but these tenets are something you develop a name for, you will almost always get what you're in the business for: the trust of your peers, viewers sources and the figures whom you interview and then on whom you report.

When you're nervous your veins and arteries constrict and recede, which makes it difficult to find a vein. Being executed is a very anxiety inducing process for someone being subjected to it, to say the least, and often their veins are difficult to get the needle into. It isn't a particularly small needle either like the kind at the hospital, it's a thick caveter needle. They had to stick the needle into his dick by the sound of it, on his report it just said "groin area" as suitable veins elsewhere could not be found. The stuff they inject you with to knock you unconscious isn't enough usually to render you truly unconscious, it heavily sedates you so you can barely move but it doesn't dull or stop pain. The second and third drugs, if injected while you're still conscious and able to feel pain, give you the sensation of burning. The lethal injection is essentially akin to being burned alive at the stake for those subjected to it; the only reason they aren't screaming and thriving in agony is because they're tranquilized by the first drug, midazolam
