    Supertrainers are the best thing to ever happen to me. I’m 55 and have been running for over 40 years and they give me the boost I need, and allow me to recover much faster. So maybe not for everyone but they’ve been a godsend for me.

      Love this take. I think that’s the main takeaway really is that there’s so many options and different things will work for everyone. Really glad you found your fit!! Which trainers do you run in?

      @@AlexTomoRuns The Adidas Prime X Strung 1s are my favorites. I also wear the ASICS Superblasts (which don’t have a plate but have an illegally high stack height) and the Puma Deviate Nitro 2s.

    I thought I was the only one who felt that way about supershoes. Some of the best funnest running shoes are $50-$120 cheaper than most super trainers and they do more for your training needs.

      One hundred percent, feel like some of those lighter versatile Mach 6 type shoes are the most versatile of them all. look at the SL2 that’s come out recently, seems to have everything for less than half of the price of the Skyward X’s

      @@AlexTomoRuns 💯 I’ve already order the SL2 for everything from daily to tempo short intervals and a Triumph 21 for easy and long runs almost at half price. Both cost me less than a Skyward X. Wake up runners 🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️!!! lol We need more vids like yours.

    Sipershoes have caused me lots of injuries, I fell for the hype and now have about 5 pairs in my rotation, which is ridiculous I had more fun when I had just one pair that did everything.

    I routinely run in the Saucony Endorphin Pro 2 and 3, they just feel great on my feet and don't make me feel like I'm slogging through my runs. I basically only use those two for all of my runs, have zero issues with them, and the 2's are still like $85 on Amazon (have an extra pair in the closet, and 2 extra pairs of EP3's).

    very true! "Super Trainers" have messed up my feet and knee just because i was following the hype. Recently i've come back to basic trainers that take the miles and are stable and comfortable and my problems are slowly going away.

    One thing I’ve realized recently is that I’ve never really used my shoes to their end. I’ve never put 500 miles on my shoes before retiring them and seeing my brother put 600 miles on his shoes showed me that most of the shoes I have can make it longer than I think. That’s one way I’ve realized to make the cost of shoes not seem as bad by getting as many miles out of them as you can. Gonna see how many miles I can get out of my Triumph 19s.

    Yeah, I agree with a lot of what you're saying. As you hinted, the key is variation - half of my rotation of shoes has some kind of super tech in them (high stacks, plates, super foams) and I totally love them, but what makes them special is how they contrast with my not quite so super shoes.
    I wish more companies would put the same effort in their regular daily trainers as they do put in their super (trainer) shoes, just because the market for a simple & fun plateless shoe (that isn't boring) has gotten kinda small.
    Anyway, really enjoyed your musings, maybe tone that music down a tad. 🙂Subbed.
    Cheers from Berlin

      @AlexTomoRuns  10 днів тому +1

      Thanks so much! Really appreciate the sub and the note about the music. Gonna take it down a notch in this weeks video. Akin to your point there, the reason that the supertrainers feel so fun is because the more basic shoes still exist as a marker for what is ‘normal’. Appreciate the comment mate. See you round!

  • @davidleonard37

    I believe super trainers are for bloggers and sponsored athletes. Their so expensive that it's crazy and beyond the average runner. I rarely pay full price for shoes anyway and would veer towards the normal run shoes and don't go for a fancy gimmick. Doesn't make you run any better or get injured less.

    The shoe industry has tried to make super trainers a magic pill! You can stand on this magic carpet, and it will do ALL the work for you! In reality, if you don't put in the work, you won't get the results!.Paying $250-$300 for one pair of shoes is insane! Look at last year's model, if you have to have them. They are often heavily discounted when the new version comes out! I can buy 2 pairs of regular trainers for the price of one super trainer!

    So the Saucony Endorphin line is fine since it isn't high enough stack? Love the speeds as the nylon plate is less aggro than carbon. I would run in the pros but can't afford and if I had a pair they would be my race shoe.

    • @AlexTomoRuns
      @AlexTomoRuns  14 днів тому +1

      Always wanted to try out the speeds, are they as good as everyone says? Definitely agree about it being expensive to built a rotation… I think there’s some cheap ish pros floating around on eBay and Vinted, give them a double check for low mileage pairs!

      @@AlexTomoRunsthat is my training and race shoe. I like the original more than the 3's as they made them less zippy. I have tried other shoes but nothing else came close.

    • @GrassFedKao
      @GrassFedKao 13 днів тому +1

      The Speeds would still classify as a supertrainer with their nylon plate. They're in fact probably one of the best known supertrainers. Great for racing but they started to bottom out very much towards the half marathon distance

    ASICS magic speed 4, Hoka skyward X, ASICS Superblast, adidas Prime X Strung 2, and Mizuno Neo Vista. All good examples of a supertrainer?
    I have Adios Pro 3 shoes and enjoy training in them. Haha it’s true, these shoes do a lot of the work but that’s not necessarily a good thing! You need to also run the old school way with shoes like a Adidas SL and build muscles that way too

    • @AlexTomoRuns
      @AlexTomoRuns  10 днів тому +1

      Absolutely agree with the muscle building - the super trainers are so helpful with the cushioning but sometimes working a bit harder definitely isn’t a curse. I’ve never tried the Pro 3’s - as good as they say?

    • @gabr131s9
      @gabr131s9 9 днів тому

      @@AlexTomoRuns 100% facts. Do enjoy tuning in them though! Adios Pro 3 are sick! I also own endorphin speed 4’s. Difference is the endorphin speed 4 I feel I can probably run the same time in a 7 km run, but my legs will feel more sore afterwards. Whereas the adios give a bit better pop/bounce but probably a bit less of that rocker that pushes you forward on to your toes, springing off each step compared to the speeds

    There’s a place in the market for everything. For those who don’t want to spend the super trainer cost, there are plenty of great $140 daily trainers. Personally, super trainers have helped me in my running journey. I use them for longer tempo runs and long runs. I also strap them on whenever I don’t feel like going out for a run. The “fun” aspect of running in a super trainer is worth it to me.
