    Your delivery was excellent, clear, to the point. It was the first time I understood exactly what to do. You made it look easy AND as a former teacher I soooo appreciated your style. Im so tired of giddy, giggly, all about me, self important, boring, telling me all your feelings videos. Your video is the best I have ever seen on this topic.

    Yes, this is the best I have seen also, I have spent several weeks looking for this type of Tutorial!!! I have made several Quilt Tops and have a quilter that finishes them but I am wanting to learn to do it myself. I am almost 70 yrs old … maybe I should have found a different hobby. The cost of having them quilted is getting very expensive and since I am now retired and only have my social security income I have to learn to do most of them myself. I have been sewing since I was 20 yrs old, had to learn when I had 3 daughters to cloth. The only thing I didn't makes was panties, sock and slips otherwise I made everything (coats included) for them until they were seniors in H.S. (even made my husbands leisure suits.. no such thing these days). Thank you so much for this video and Please hoping you will keep them coming.

    Love your clear, easy to understand video!! Thank you!! I'm 70, & started sewing at 12. Have never quilted YET!! Now, you have given me what I need to feel comfortable trying this!! One of your commenters asked about tension problems. The video I watched just before yours was: Erica Arndt Quilting 101: How to Free Motion Quilt. It was a looong video... however, she did delftly cover demonstrating tension problems. It is entirely possible that you have already covered that in an ensuing video... Thank you, Carolina, for so clearly, sharing your expertise & know-how with us!! Bless you!!

    • @CarolinaMoore

      Carol McCollum Thanks for telling me about Erica's video! :) I have not discussed tension problems here... I usually find that cleaning the bobbin housing and putting in a fresh needle solves most of my problems. :)

      Practice practice practice. You make it look easy. Sometimes my mind and hands moving the fabric don’t match. I almost want to draw the design as a guide. I just bought a stitch regulator. I noticed you did not use. Any reason why?

    • @CarolinaMoore
      @CarolinaMoore  4 роки тому +1

      @@Jerzidi9 Yes! Practice makes progress! I remember when I first started driving, it was jerky at first - my hands, feet, and mind all needed to work together in a new way. Free Motion Quilting is very similar!
      And yes, I chose not to use a stitch regulator. This was for a couple reasons. One is that it wasn't cheap, and I was still starting out. Having to budget for a stitch regulator would mean waiting even longer! The other reason is that as long as I was learning the whole process, I wanted to teach myself how to regulate the stitches on my own. This means with a few minutes of warm up, I can FMQ on just about any machine. For most people, this isn't significant, though.
      If a stitch regulator helps you, use it! I'm all for quilting tools that help us out!!

      A natural teacher indeed; such people are rare and very valuable. Lots of people can free-motion quilt, but not so many can explain and show how to do it! Many, many thanks.

      I'm so sorry you had a frustrating classroom experience! I think that happens to us all sometimes. But I am glad I was able to help!
      For what it is worth, my FMQ class wasn't very helpful. And the second was WAY over my head (it was on feathers, and I knew it would be, but wanted to try anyway). But I kept at it. And there is always more that I want to learn!

    Thanks for this great tutorial. I'm new at FMQ and I've been practicing a lot, seeing you use the same basic pattern to make several designs if very helpful. I believe this is the best tutorial I've seen on FMQ. Thanks again!
