Just wanted to thank you for your right to the point video. I just moved to an apartment with these kind of stoves and had no idea not only on how to clean the pans, but I didn´t even know the stove top was also removable. Thanks much man!
How to take the coils off is all I really wanted to know, so this helped me, thank you. Every other video just took them off without explaining or showing.
Hi, Danielle, Thank you for your feedback! Yes, Shawn is amazing. We are so lucky to have him on our team. Don't forget to check out other helpful videos on our page!
This was so helpful! The previous tenants clearly didn't know how to do this because the drip pans were DISGUSTING. I was only using 2 of 4 burners for a while because I was worried about all the gunk trapped under the coils of the other two. In a bout of insomnia I found this video and started going to work on them at 4am. I was tired for the rest of the day, but it was worth it. THANK YOU, kind Sir!
I have literally been trying to take off the drip pans for years. And it got so irritating because a lot of the scum and build up would just sit there. And every video that I tried to search on UA-cam didn't thoroughly explain it. Then tonight as I'm in the bed I just so happen to come across this video. I got up out of my bed, went in the kitchen and tried it for one last time, and every single one of them came out. Thank you so much for this video and for helping this girl out here. Now I can go ahead to the store and get some replacement drip pans and clean my stove and feel like I actually did this.
Really appreciate the helpful video. I was bought new drip pans for my stove, and this video made it SO easy to replace them and give the underside of the cooktop a thorough cleaning.
Thank You!!! I just got my first coil top stove and the manual instructions were useless. I could not figure out how to do this until I watched your video. I was so afraid of damaging my stove. This helped me so much!
Wow... never knew this, for 1+ years, i let scum and grease build up on the pan. After this video, I finally got them cleaned. Took lots of effort but it's 95% back to new!
I nearly choked on my drink when I saw you just lift the stove top! Mine actually has two Phillips screws holding it down and no props. It was thoroughly gross and definitely needed a good cleaning! Thank you for the helpful tutorial.
Thank you for the info!! I'd never had a stove where the drip pans had the rings attached so I had absolutely no idea how to get them out with the burners in the way. Now I can give them the deep clean they so desperately need 😁 Thank you!!
I was trying to figure out out to get the coils out and found your video very helpful. None of the other videos I watched showed how to get them out. Thank you.
Thank you so much. How you showed is straight and to the point. Needed to know how to remove and put back burners for cleaning. Had gas stove before moving into an apartment with electric stove. Thank you for showing how to lift up to clean underneath. Important. This is the video! Again, thank you.
Thank you! You made this process super easy. I move out from my first apartment with a non gas stove next week, so have been worrying about all the details LOL
Oh god thank you I didn't know the whole bottom could be lifted up like that (and judging by how dirty it was I doubt the previous tendants knew either 😭)
Same I just cleaned Mine off today and my gosh was it filthy Asf on top of me being pregnant as heck I probably shouldn’t have been around all those chemicals but it was becoming an annoyance
Oh god thank you for this video. I’ve moved to my very first apt and it had this kind of stove and it was a first for me and ive badly wanted to clean that for months since i got here.
Thanks so much for this! I cooked a pork leg today and the pan tipped and the grease got *everywhere!* I was concerned about cleaning under the stovetop, because I didn't know they flip up and was just looking for tips! Before now I just took off the drip pans and stuck my hand in the holes!
Thank you I didn’t know how to clean under a fridgaire drip pan but I figured it out watching video. Now I have to replace my pans. I got ge kind because that’s what Tom said to get but I found out the stoves are not interchangeable
I know how to remove the burner trays and how to lift the whole stove top. My problem is the actual cleaning. What to use. I have used various cleansers and scrubbers and nothing works. My burner trays are a mess. Any suggestions or maybe I need to buy new ones. They don't clean easily and never have from new. Thanks
Hello.I was cleaning my burner because tea was spilled over that. I removed burner to clean that and put it back but now its not working. What's wrong happened with it? Can u tell me?
I have an electric stove top. However the element will not budge. It appears that the element prong is wedged into the drip pan. I removed this element about 3 weeks ago with no problems. The drip pan needs to be cleaned again and I can't get the element out to do it. Any suggestions?
@@audraburke1526 vinegar and baking soda is what I had used. Normally if you let sit it should lift a bit. If its greesy, Easy-Off is the bomb but you gotta make sure to read warnings etc..
I have a very old GE stove that bakes beautifully so instead of replacing Id like to keep her/Bertha. Although very clean, I am needing to lift top to clean under cause I am OCD cleaning Nana. I'd also like to change to plug in burners and these are hard wired and odd attachments and receptacles. Appears NO lift to top. Taking back off doesn't give me access to under the top. Stove is in pristine condition but 1949 model. Burners not looking great however. I want to clean and maintain this beautiful tank of a stove.
Awesome...thanks for posting this. Worked perfectly. I was able to take out the drip tray and clean it after my pathetic attempt of cooking dinner before my girlfriend came home!!! Yay...at least the stove top was clean haha
Just wrap it with aluminum foil and apply foil underneath stove top to remove it after getting dirty. This is my way to save time and effort 🙂 You welcome ☺️
I ha e moved into a place where three stove is very old and the top does not come off and it is filthy underneath. Who do I clean someone else's dirt and grease.
You've GOT to be f'n kidding me...I am 51 yrs old and didn't know how to get the drip pan out like this. I am literally cleaning the last of my old apt b4 moving and saved this for last because I was dreading it so much. Good God man, THANK YOU. (In my defense, I've had mostly gas stoves my whole life.) Lol
Hi, Tony! Thanks for the inquiry. I've seen this method used a lot, however, I haven't tried personally. I suggest you do some more research before you proceed with caution. Thank you for checking us out!
My coils are locked in and do not come out at all by the technique used in the video. Can you do a video for hard to removed coils. My stove is GE Freestanding 5.3-cu ft Self-Cleaning Electric Range (White) (Common: 30-in; Actual: 29.875-in)Item # 516654 Model # JB250DFWW
I've looked all over the place for those 'clips' that go on the drip pans (aka: drip bowls) to hold the element in the drip pan's notch. Tried to buy drip pans (via Amazon) with those clips but was lied to and ended up with drip pans without the clips. If the only way I can get those clips is to buy drip pans that have them, I will. Any help you can offer to point me in the right direction will be appreciated. Thank you.
I believe those are actually part of the burner. You may want to look up replacement parts for the model of stove you have. You can usually find that information by pulling out the drawer at the bottom. There should be a plaque with the model and serial number. Good luck!!
Thank you for the great question! I would suggest looking at the appliance's manual. If you are unable to locate it, you can find the manufacture date, model number, and serial number to google search an electronic copy of the manual. Typically these items can be found on a sticker adhered on the frame of the stove in the warmer drawer. Good luck!
I wish I could post a picture, when you lift the lid, there’s the overall lid where the burners sit in then it curves up under the knobs. One side mates back up fine the other does not so the whole thing is no longer level. I appreciate the reply!
Ah, yes. We run into this issue sometimes too. Unfortunately, we just have to sit there and fiddle with it until it glides back into it's groove. It might help if you have an extra set of hands to help hold the weight of the stove top (lid).
Some stovetops can be a little finicky when it comes to putting it back together. You might just have to hold the front end with both of your hands while gently wiggling until it goes back on track. Good luck!

Omg. This is so easy. I couldn't figure it out by myself. I actually burn some plastic on my stove. Thanks for the information.
Best electric stove video in the world. It was short and to the point and now I know how to do this

Great! So glad it was helpful!!
okay but what do you do if the top is bolted and can't lift up? Mine is so filthy and covered in oil but i can't reach to wash it.
Does the stove need to be unplugged before doing this?
Accidentally dropped mayonnaise into the drip pan on one burner lol wanted to clean it before cooking again, thank you!
I threaded it thru the drip pan first then inserted it for me it was a little easier
thanks for the video I didn't know how to remove the burner
Great glad to hear!

I noticed the clock on the range was on? Is it safe or not to do this without going to the breaker?
Do you turn off the electric coils from a breaker?
Do you have to turn power off for the newer stove's??

If you own a Frigidaire like I do, you will have to pull backwards on the burners to get them out, rather than pushing toward
I can't access the break box of my apartment, is it still safe to clean it as long as I am super careful about the control knobs??

I pulled it out and replaced the drip pan but now it turns red hot on the lowest setting. I think its ruined. I wish i saw this video first.
Omg, you’re an Angel!!!!!! Cleaning my stove TODAYYYYY
You are like a magician opening it! Thank you so much!
Just wrap it with aluminum foil and apply foil underneath stove top to remove it after getting dirty.
This is my way to save time and effort 🙂
You welcome ☺️
Thank you so much for this concise, very clear video! It's very helpful. :)
Thanks. Just tried to heat a glass pot and it exploded. Soup and glass everywhere.

You may want to look at the manufactures users manual.
