Since there are a great number of these types of stoves in rental units this video is very helpful for people to not lose their security deposit! Also, lifting the top up people don't know! I shared this video already....
The first time I lifted mine up, it was an accidental discovery. I also discovered three extremely dead and desiccated roaches which may have been there since the Carter administration, embedded in a thin layer of grease-caked crumbs. The cleaning process took some time, to say the least. Eek.
My late mother had the underside lined with aluminum foil for easy clean up and/or replacement. She wipe the coils of after every use (once it cooled down). Need to try the oven cleaner for the drip pan.
If the drip pans show rust/corrosion of any kind, it's a good excuse to swap them out too. Mine usually last about two years no matter how hard I try to keep them clean...just got a fresh set on Amazon for $17. 😉
Partway through the video I went and checked my stove top to see if it lifted up. (It’s a 30+ year old Kenmore Special Edition and I thought it might be too old for this feature.) Imagine my surprise when it opened right up and wasn’t actually too bad underneath. I use foil drip pan covers over the metal ones and change them out regularly. Thanks for the information.
I remember seeing you can pop the hood on the stovetop on TikTok for the first time, I was very surprised at how well the drip pans kept the underside clean. The issue I had was definitely the drip pans themselves but this video was great and my stovetop looks like new! Thank you so much for
Thank you! Thank you! I’ve been asking for a video on this one. My condo came with this style stove top and I see no need to replace a working appliance. I remember my Mom cleaning when I was young but didn’t really know what would be safe chemically
Thanks I really like that you shared how to clean the actual coil. I didn’t think putting any cleaner on it was a good idea too. Now I am excited to go clean my oven be4 I was intimidated not now!
Excellent video! You can also use plastic razor blade to remove softened gunk. Then, no worry about scratches. Great suggestion for using the #0000 steel wool!
There are aluminum foil pans specifically made for the drip pans for these stoves. I’d recommend and suggest looking into those to preserve/extend the life of your drip pans.
I have found my best/easiest way to make the coils look new...turn the burner(s) to HIGH. Stand by - do not leave the stove when doing this. Turn on the exhaust fan. Keep watching, and before you know it, all the grease, grime and dirt just burns away!. Turn the burner(s) OFF. You are done!
That’s how my mom did it growing up. Put them all on high and let the heat burn it off, then when cool wipe them down. Like you exhaust fan and plenty of ventilation.
I just moved into my new unit about a week ago, and I have the same kind of stove. I've never had one of these in my life, so I'm getting adjusted to it. When I first used it, there was a little bit of clear smoke coming from one of the burners, but it went away after a couple of seconds, and I attributed to when it was cleaned before I moved. So far, everything is going well, but I'm definitely going to do this this weekend because I had no idea the entire stove top could lift up. Thank you so much! Also, when spraying the whole stove, is there any concern of the coil receptacle things getting wet? I'm afraid of electrocution 😂🤦🏾♀️
Do be wary of the lift top tho folks. I’ve known about this feature for most of my life. But unfortunately the past three rental properties I have lived in did not have this feature on the range 😕
So, my round thing in the middle of the burner doesn't pop off. Can I use a cleaner on it when it's intact or is this bad for the burner as you mentioned in the video? I'm going to immerse them.
Thanks to you I've become a Dawn power wash addict; the stuff is fantastic for all around the house! Still not convinced, however, that Scrub Daddy isn't too harsh and abrasive....I do use that brand of scrubby sponge daily, but it doesn't seem so stiff and unforgiving. Perhaps I just need to take the plunge and try the big Daddy.
Despite cleaning troubles this is why running out to replace an appliance for a new one can be silly. Where are you going to find something that’s made to last like that today?
Recently just discovered that my cooktop *can* lift up, it's just held in place by two screws that were suuuuuuper gunked up. 🤨 Why it's secured by screws, I'll never know.

@@CleanThatUp thanks I learn to put the drop pan in the trash bag so Oxygen can't dry out the chemical.
I always think "huh what more can he teach me now, I'm sure i know everything there is by now," and yet every time I learn something new again😅
Thanks for the tip about lifting the cook top. I had no idea my stove top could lift up.
FINALLY!🙌🏽 Been hoping that you’d drop a video on how to clean electric stove tops
Mine has been in need of one 😅
Thank you so much Clean That Up🫶🏽
Thanks so much for watching!

I watch your videos for emotional support. Thank you Brandon for cleaning that up!!
you taught this bachelor how to clean his first electric cooktop thanks bro!
Thank you. I clean mine often, but I learned a couple things.
Wow! Super impressed with the results! The stove is so shiny it looks brand new! ❤
i’ve been staring at my stove for 20 minutes trying to figure out how to get these drip trays off. thanks!
You literally gave me exactly what I needed in the first 20 seconds😂

This video was soooo helpful. I did not know the stove top could be open!!! Thank you
GREAT VIDEO! I learned alot. Thank you so much for making this!
Hello I was wondering if you ever use steam cleaners? What do you think of them as a cleaning tool?
The tip on spraying the drip pans with oven cleaner and then putting in a garbage sack.. Thank You!
Its like you were watching me stare at mine literally 19minutes ago 😮 what the actual hell
Perfect timing!
Thanks I really like that you shared how to clean the actual coil. I didn’t think putting any cleaner on it was a good idea too. Now I am excited to go clean my oven be4 I was intimidated not now!
Man I'm truly thankful for this.

I love your content so much! Super helpful. Would you (or have you) do a “home made cleaners” series?
When I rented, I always covered the drip pans in aluminum foil! So much easier to keep clean!
Thanks so much for your videos! Can you please do one on cleaning moldy window tracks?
Found your videos on window tracks, thanks!!

thanks, gonna do this tomorrow :)

great tips and tricks, thxs for sharing...
What about a gas stove top.? I can only use soap and water. Still looks like there is a film on the top around the burners
I have the same question. I also have a gas stove.
Do be wary of the lift top tho folks. I’ve known about this feature for most of my life. But unfortunately the past three rental properties I have lived in did not have this feature on the range 😕
Great Job, Thank You! 😊
The landlord should have gotten in trouble for charging them that much. I saw a brand new stove listed for about 314.
Thanks
What products do you use for shining chrome drip pans? Thanks!
Excellent video💯💯💯👍🏼
Do you have the protective cover for this type of stove? Need badly.
I've seen cleaning people use a little red power brush to clean with. Do you have one and when would you use it? Thanks.
THANK YOU❤
Where are you based out of? Strangley that kitchen setup looks so familiar..
The center of my coil does not remove from the burner. It has a hole container like thing underneath of it.
So, my round thing in the middle of the burner doesn't pop off. Can I use a cleaner on it when it's intact or is this bad for the burner as you mentioned in the video? I'm going to immerse them.

I use the scrub daddy on everything especially my glass top stove. Plus I can mail back the old ones so they don’t go to a land fill.
Do I unplug it first or do I do it just like that?
This is the Same stove top at my parents new house.
Is there a video for an oven with a glass top?
do i need to burp the bag. also i like it when youre more chill.
Do I unplug it or what
Drip pans for this style of stove are cheap. I’d rather buy new ones than use oven cleaner.
I’ve tried to do that on my Magic Chef stove and it does not budge. Mine must not have that feature.
Check to see if the lever on the front, that is used to lock the door on self-cleaning ovens, is NOT locked. :)
I can't get mine to not stream.
Unfortunately the lid of a stove does not lift if it is a 1978 one piece harvest gold double oven 😕It’s a pain to clean!
