This helped me so so much. I’ve only lived in 2 houses (both with gas stoves) and I just moved into my first apartment with an electric stove and had no idea how to take the plates off without dying lol. I just removed all 4 and cleaned everything and I’m so relieved! Thank you so much!!
Thank you so much. I’m new to electric stove tops so I was really intimidated by mine but it needs to be cleaned. So helpful that you showed how everything connects 🙂
You are welcome, Megan. I don't recommend removing the burners every time you clean, maybe just a couple of times a year for a good cleaning. Excessive removal will cause the receptacle to wear and eventually the connection becomes loose. Then you'll need to replace the receptacles. I have a video that shows how to do that: ua-cam.com/video/SCP1wW-icLQ/v-deo.html

I'm unable to remove one burner coil. It seems stuck perhaps due to grease buildup. I've pulled as hard as possible & can't remove it. I've even lifted the stovetop & tried pulling it from under there. Any suggestions? By the way your videos are the best I've seen re how to do something. Very straightforward, easy to understand & very informative. You also speak clearly & at the right speed to follow along. Thank you!
Hi Mary, you could try spraying electrical contact cleaner on the connection and wait a few minutes and try again. Unplug the stove to do this if you haven't already done it. If doesn't work, then try PB Blaster, this smells really bad and I doubt if the vapors are healthy to breath. Let that soak for about an hour and try it. If you have to use the PB Blaster (this is great for any stuck metal connections), then treat the connections with electrical connector cleaner afterwards. Hello, I wonder if someone knows where I can find the COOKTOP for very old KENMORE Stove. Because the mine is designed to work with TWO COOKTOP by place (RING and COOKTOP). My KENMORE Stove is 1970s, and love it, and prefer conserve it before change for a new one. Thanks for this video.
Thank you for a nice, clear video! I have a question: there are sometimes the "super fast" burner. I just purchased an old stove to replace my other (older) stove that gave up... I am noticing the super fast burner is in the back right position, whereas on my older one, it was in the front right position (between these 2 stoves, the larger-smaller burners alternated differently.) I am wondering whether it matters, in which position on the stovetop you place the super fast burner (front vs back, left vs right.) Or it is inconsequential? Thank you in advance for any ideas on this (of course, I would only put the "super fast" burner, which is a large, in a large slot.)
I am not familiar with every stove model. You might want to find the model number (on a plate somewhere on the stove) and find a parts diagram for your stove. You will be able to confirm that the burners are the same part number. If yes, then you can swap them. Since it's an old stove someone could have replaced the infinate switch(s) with a different but similar part.
Here in 2023! This video was super useful!! One question though..is it okay if the top of the stove is a little loose? I just cleaned it but it feels a little loose when putting it back in place Thanks for the help though
I have somewhat similar to this stove. Is yours a GE? My 8’in unit is releasing an awful smell when it is turned on. I’m thinking that the smell from the drip pan. I order the parts for that and hopefully, it will fix the problem. If not, I will replace the coil. This video really helps. thanks.
Yes, it's a GE. There are other video on stove repair on the channel, here's the link to the play list. Best wishes for your repair. ua-cam.com/play/PLvce66kQTjJR9jwr7OfByBe7SkArcPN0S.html
@@Know-How-Now Thank you for the links. My drip pan came and That was the issue. Thank goodness it was that simple. You see, the drip pan have rust areas and when the coil is turned on, it release the burned rust into the air. The rust started to develop because I did not clean and dry it well causing it to rust. Now that I have the new drip pan in place, the odor is gone. I thought I have to replace the entire 8” coil. Watching your video prepared me for the worst. Thanks..
Sadly i just noticed ours has completely rusted thru and broken apart. I didn't even realize it was that bad. 😅 so now I have to replace the thing. Hope i cam find the right one.🙏🏻
Look at the stove to find the model number. Don't forget to open the oven door and look there. After you have the model number look up the part number on one of the many appliance part seller's website. I always try to buy OEM parts. They are more expensive, but for sure it will be the right fit and good quality. Be careful, because some of the parts sellers can be tricky and you will think you are getting OEM part, but it's not.
Mine wouldn't lift so I started searching. Found this video and than had to find out one small detail on my own. Sometimes before lifting it up it worth to push them in a little. They sometimes fixed against the opposite side of receptacle.
I've seen parts sold at hardware stores for stoves that claim to be generic to stoves. I wouldn't buy those parts. Find the model number on your stove (The one in the video has a metal plate visible when the oven door is opened) and look it up on one of the many appliance part sellers on the internet. If possible buy the OEM part. Many parts sellers are tricky and will send you an after market part. Sometimes those parts are OK and some times they are poor quality and don't fit. I prefer to pay a little extra for a genuine part from the manufacturer to avoid poor quality/bad fit and having to fight to return it.
Thanks for this video,my question is when I put the burner back on(after cleaning drip pan),I noticed it had this kinda steam/smell coming from it ..is that normal after cleaning it?
Just moved into my first apartment and we haven't made any spills or anything since we moved in (we've only been cooking pasta with no sauce) but every time we cook on it, or in the oven, it sets off the smoke alarm. I Sometimes repeatedly 5+ during every use (mostly when we use the oven). I haven't burned anything either. I know if messes are causing this problem, it wasn't us who caused it. So annoying not having experience with shitty appliances, so we haven't been able to tell whether we should get a professional to take a look at it or not.
The likely problem is a smoke detector/alarm that is improperly located. I have a video on the topic, see the link below. Also, the smoke alarm/detector is likely an ionization type which are more likely to false alarm when placed in a kitchen environment. ua-cam.com/video/8lOUcqiUYHw/v-deo.html
My burner is sparking by the connection do you think it's wise to just replace both the receptacle and the burner or would it be okay to just replace the receptacle
Hey sorry about the delay in answering, this is the 3rd time I am writing this.. UA-cam glitches. If it has been sparking at the connection, to be safe, I'd replace both the receptacle and the burner. It's not worth a few dollars to have a loose connection and risk a fire.
@@Know-How-Now what a wonderful video , it's very good .the tech from their website ,told me if I pull hard enough the burner will "come out but I was pulling herd and long before.i replied stop...and he wanted $$ if I called him.many many thanks, I almost guess it.please keep doing the good work
You are welcome, David. Good to hear you figured out how to remove the burner. If they have not been removed for a long time, sometimes they need a good tug to get them out of the receptacles.
whatcan i doif one of burners has plastic that melted and hardened on it (was there when I moved in) that alwasy melts a bit evertime i use it putting of a really bad toxic melting plastic smell... but even it the burner was replaced it would not fix the issue because it on the huge metal bottom below the intial tray that catches crumbs? does that make any sense?
I've looked all over the place for those 'clips' that go on the drip pans (aka: drip bowls) to hold the element in the drip pan's notch. Tried to buy drip pans (via Amazon) with those clips but was lied to and ended up with drip pans without the clips. If the only way I can get those clips is to buy drip pans that have them, I will. Any help you can offer to point me in the right direction will be appreciated. Thank you.
If they are original equipment for your stove, then find the model number, it's on a tag. Go to one of the online parts sellers, find the parts diagram for your stove. If the stove is old, the part may no longer be available, but there may be an after market part. Do an internet search for the part number.
Hello, my burner works perfectly. The problem I'm having is the burner isn't flat. When I moved I to this apartment it was not leveled and all the food while cooking slides to one side of the pan. What can I do to correct this before going to the management company and asking them to replace the burner?
Hi Yolanda. Check out this link, if you do not have the tools to fix the problem. Show this solution to the maintenance person. www.wikihow.com/Level-Burners-on-an-Electric-Range
@@Know-How-Now Thank you for the link. That is exactly what's going on. It's only one corner (leg) of the front left burner that's raised. The link you sent explains everything. I know why placing my Dutch cast iron pot on the burner for weight never worked. It needs to be filed down. Thank you so much.
I'm not clear about your question. Are you saying that you bought a new burner and it has rubber "boots" on the terminals that plug into the stove sockets?
Those rubber tips are likely to protect the ends during shipping/handling. The rubber pieces won't conduct electricity, they need to be removed before installing the new burners.

10/10 I never would've figured this out on my own
Hello, I wonder if someone knows where I can find the COOKTOP for very old KENMORE Stove. Because the mine is designed to work with TWO COOKTOP by place (RING and COOKTOP). My KENMORE Stove is 1970s, and love it, and prefer conserve it before change for a new one.
Thanks for this video.
Very helpful!
Thank you so much for this video! Super informative!

Thank you and God bless you!

Thank you, no idea it was so simple, they’re just giant plug ins lol
You are welcome, Jackson.
Here in 2023! This video was super useful!! One question though..is it okay if the top of the stove is a little loose? I just cleaned it but it feels a little loose when putting it back in place Thanks for the help though
I'm not clear on your question, are you saying a burner is loose or the entire stove top.
Thank you for this video!
You are welcome!
Thanks..

You are welcome.
Thanks so much for your help!
You are welcome!
Mine wouldn't lift so I started searching. Found this video and than had to find out one small detail on my own. Sometimes before lifting it up it worth to push them in a little. They sometimes fixed against the opposite side of receptacle.
Thank you. This was perfect.
You are welcome, Rusty.
You’re a life saver! Thank you so much 😊
You’re welcome 😊
Thank you, that was a great lesson 🤗😊😉
You are welcome, Blanca.
Are those parts one size fits all, generally? It seems like maybe i should just replace the drip pan and burner.
Was very helpful, thank you!

thank you, so helpful

Thanks for this video,my question is when I put the burner back on(after cleaning drip pan),I noticed it had this kinda steam/smell coming from it ..is that normal after cleaning it?
Depending on what you used to clean it, you could be burning off that substance.
Thank I never knew this! This helped so much
It was my pleasure to help, Jazmyne.
Thanks bro, super helpful!

how do you lift the top on that oven? I got grease in the tray underneath the burners I cant reach
The top doesn't lift on this model.
I appreciate this so much, thank you!
You are welcome, Mallory.
Thank goodness. I thought I broke mine. I never knew they plugged in like that.
Thanks soo much! 😊

What if mine is too tight to come out? It won't budge, and this burner definitely needs to be cleaned!
Sometimes they can be a little stubborn to remove, especially if they have not been removed recently.
@@Know-How-Now I got it! I made sure to clean it this morning! Thank you!
Super! It's OK to remove the burners, but don't do it excessively. They sockets can become worn if you constantly remove the burners.
@@Know-How-Now Thanks for the advice!

I have an exact stove like this except it's gas but I can't find the model # anywhere? Do you know we're I might be able to find it?
Open the oven door and look around the inside perimeter for a tag.
Very useful thank you !! i had to clean mine and holy heck xD living on my own have to be builder joe - this video really helped :D

Thank youuu 🙌🏽

Thankyou so much!!😭😭😭

I removed the silver ring part round the edge and now my ranges smoke the minute I turn them on. Any ideas?
Where is the smoke coming from?
whatcan i doif one of burners has plastic that melted and hardened on it (was there when I moved in) that alwasy melts a bit evertime i use it putting of a really bad toxic melting plastic smell... but even it the burner was replaced it would not fix the issue because it on the huge metal bottom below the intial tray that catches crumbs? does that make any sense?
I'd try searching for how to remove melted plastic from metal. For sure you don't want to be breathing the fumes from melted plastic.
Alex Ella if you can replace the burner I’m sure you can replace that metal bottom below!
Thank you!
You are welcome! Have a great day.
@@Know-How-Now
Thank you for the link. That is exactly what's going on. It's only one corner (leg) of the front left burner that's raised. The link you sent explains everything. I know why placing my Dutch cast iron pot on the burner for weight never worked. It needs to be filed down. Thank you so much.
You are welcome, Yolanda.
Thank you so much

Can foil be placed under the coil to prevent spillage on the burner for easy cleaning?
What about the little red rubber parts that come on the end of the burner?
I'm not clear about your question. Are you saying that you bought a new burner and it has rubber "boots" on the terminals that plug into the stove sockets?
@@Know-How-Now Yes. All burners have these little red rubber pieces that fit onto the ends of the coils.
Those rubber tips are likely to protect the ends during shipping/handling. The rubber pieces won't conduct electricity, they need to be removed before installing the new burners.
@@Know-How-Now Nope. I contacted the manufacturer and they told me to leave them on.
What brand is your stove?
my stove burner is stuck; any tips on how to release the burner?
If they haven't been removed for a long time, sometimes you have to give them a good tug to get the burner out of the socket.
@@Know-How-Now All the other burners are fine, just this one will not budge!
