I swear I've had "I'm gonna write you a letter, I'm gonna write you a book" stuck somewhere in the back of my head for 15 years. Only now have I found where it's from!
Saw this live tonight. "An intimate evening with Guster" from their we also have eras tour. what a show. To see and feel apart of thr bands journey was amazing. The incredible acoustic vibe. The theatrics. Truly outstanding
Man, this song reminds me of the worst and the best times of my life. I actually get teary-eyed every time that I hear it; it's just that good, in my opinion. Relate-able, very tastefully poppy, and just pretty much perfect in every way imaginable. Thanks for the up.
I used to watch music videos on MTV every morning before school and this video popped up one or two times. I haven't heard the song since. Now twenty five years later the song still gets stuck in my head from time to time. Luckily I remembered those iconic lyrics in the chrous. I looked it up and found it here; I'm finally hearing it again!
It's an incredible city. I only had a few days though, so I spent most of my time "getting somewhere." Next time I want to spend more time there and just "get lost in Amsterdam."
Finally! A music video where you can tell they are actually playing and singing! It usually just looks like them standing there pretending to be doing something.
I saw them in the early '90s when they were still just street musicians at Harvard Square -- they had so much energy and a unique sound, I just knew they'd get somewhere someday! I can't believe I saw them way back when!!!
Love these guys and this song! Can't believe saw them back in the early '90s when they were street musicians at Harvard Square and were known as "GUS". Their energy was so unique... I got on their mailing list way back then - and their postcards of tours always found me through 4 different address changes (before the Internet)! I knew they had something!
Agreed. Of course music is the most subjective of subjective tastes, but I can't think of another band that nails catchy alt-pop tunes better than these guys.
I was twelve when I first saw this video. I'm almost 29. I STILL want that drum kit! EDIT: I just found out, it's called a cocktail kit. I want it even more now!
One of my favorites from Guster! I wish it was bigger when it came out. I only heard it a few times on the radio, and never saw the video until now. Great memories of fall 2003. We recently did a parody of "Amsterdam" at an event on behalf of Amnesty International, which you can find by clicking on our name here. Enjoy.
They played this one last night here, changed the words to Rotterdam, since it was in Rotterdam, great concert and top guys, talked to us after the show and had a drink with the handful of Dutch fans. Said they went to the places where they filmed this clip 12 years ago.
+RC Codes Heh! I find Dutch women to be very beautiful. I find the classic Dutch features to be very attractive. Legalized prostitution isn't high on my priority list, but it's interesting to see it working in a modern and tolerant city.
There's a video on UA-cam called Subway Singers, they sing this song a capella, the sound quality is low but the arrangement and energy are pretty amazing. I'd link to it if I knew how.
try: barrel of a gun one man wrecking machine satellite careful manifest destiny etc. or just buy the entire "ganging up on the sun" album. fantastic piece of work.

Broooooooo I can’t stop fucking singing it

I’m seeing them tomorrow ^_^
Why
Yeah why. Great thing about music is you can always listen again
There's nothing to miss, it's right here in UA-cam for you whenever you want it!
Oh, Amsterdam. One of the most beautiful, fun cities I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. This video makes me want to go back.
+Fiona R Life is short, just go, no one ever says 'I regret traveling and exploring the world'
Fiona R hello my friends call me shrek babe
Have you gone back yet ? :)
This song made me visit Amsterdam. Absolutely loved it.
This is when Amsterdam wasn't overrun with Sub Saharans.
This is what has to be the perfect, PERFECT, pop song. And the video is adorable!! Good job Guster.
Ur comment is so old now. Do u still alive? Are i ok? Are u good

Thanks, Mr. Mo!
I remember this song being on the radio a lot when I was a kid. I miss those days.
I swear someday I'll listen to this song when I finally travel to Amsterdam - which is my biggest dream in life: to visit this city.
It's an incredible city. I only had a few days though, so I spent most of my time "getting somewhere." Next time I want to spend more time there and just "get lost in Amsterdam."

Ur comment is so old now. Do u still alive? Are i ok? Are u good
How does this not have more views?!
How the hell does this video only have 857K plus views? One of the best songs of the last 10 years in my opinion!
This song's from 2003.
Hahahaha :) Maybe they meant last 15 years...
Regional band? First time I’ve ever heard the song or the band. I guess radios don’t play the same stuff in California
@@darkNiGHTS0 actually the first time i heard this song was in 2002
Lots of people comment on how Ryan looks so happy. I would be happy too if I could write music as beautiful as this.
I had never heard of this song or band until the denison hilltoppers came to my school, and it's currently making my day.
Next month I'll be visiting Amsterdam finally after 14 years. Can't wait to walk around solo with a smoke with this in my ears. Thankyou guys!
Going to Amsterdam in November and this song has been continuously earworming me. Not that I mind
Just heard this playing in a grocery store and had to come listen on repeat!
I was twelve when I first saw this video.
I'm almost 29.
I STILL want that drum kit!
EDIT: I just found out, it's called a cocktail kit. I want it even more now!
Happy Birthday

I'm here because I've listened to Guster for a long time. I NEED ATTENTION!
The winter tour with Kishi Bashi will be brilliant! See you there.
Ay... I've been there twice. I'm never sure whether I should stay there forever or not.
This song just randomly pops in my head at the weirdest times. Past psychedelic drug use might’ve had something to do with it but I still dig it lol
I cant wait to see them along side Dispatch this is gonna be awesome.
very good...props to the engineer as well...
hey I've been to that coffeshop. great view of the amstel river.
Great song!! Can't wait to see them at the Ogden Theater in Denver Colorado Jan. 14th 2011
If you pause it at 1:01, you'll understand why I keep coming back to this city.
+RC Codes Heh! I find Dutch women to be very beautiful. I find the classic Dutch features to be very attractive. Legalized prostitution isn't high on my priority list, but it's interesting to see it working in a modern and tolerant city.
A random woman in a boat? Don't you mean 2:04 ;)
Amsterdam is not an abstraction. It says our relationships are so alarmingly here and now. It's the truth that no one tells you about.
great song!
What a perfect song. I really wish I wrote it.
Is there a reason this song is so hard to find?
best song ever..
So glad I found this music
Son muy vintage-Hippy-hipsters 👍🤭 me gusta mucho esta banda

Love is free, pizza costs the money, skrilla, dubz... etc. L-o-v-e
There's a video on UA-cam called Subway Singers, they sing this song a capella, the sound quality is low but the arrangement and energy are pretty amazing. I'd link to it if I knew how.
I'm assuming that's Vondelpark that they're playing in? That place is so chill man.
i caught that "99 luft balloons" refrence 😉
Is this by the Rijksmuseum? I loved this song before I ever visited Amsterdam and it lived up to the hype for sure.
Caitlyn Theresa yes it is 😄
Ive been lookin for this for like 4 yrs D'x finailly found
Great young talent.
I like this version better than the album version; I think it sounds better without the theremin & I like the extra repeats at the very end
