- Installing fresh Windows 11 Pro on the HP EliteDesk 800 G1/G2/G3 Mini doesn't seem to be an issue - upgrading from Windows 10 does. In this video we show how you can upgrade those systems and keep your existing apps and data.

Worked on my HP EliteDesk 800 G2 35W, thanks so much! The part with the CMD and TMP versions is a bit confusing but after watching it 2 times, I got the hold of it. A pleasant surprise to see this nice machine run W11!
Glad it worked. I'm assuming it saw the embedded license and you didn't have to provide it?
In my case, it was the usual W10 to W11 upgrade, so you could say it saw the embedded license. However, the machine - when purchased - came blank with no license:( so I had to buy one.
I had to go get a Seagate firecuda and barracuda just to install windows 11 did you install windows 11 without a solid state hybrid drive?
My installs were on the SATA SSD. Should work on the m.2 also.
@@handmedowntech I got a m.2 as well but the computer on my g2 won't start and I get a error message on it, do you have any clue?
@tyfp3854 is it the blue screen where it has choices asking what to do? Generally it means that the boot manager is having trouble figuring out what to boot to. Make sure it's the only connected drive and try again. You could also try going into the bios and picking the drive specifically. Also experiment turning on or off legacy support from the advanced bios menu

question what the you make on the windows 11 24H2 CPU requirements will that mean that the g2 mini will now be supported with the new update
You should get the same updates. I know I get them on my 65w G2 running window 11 pro. I think it's just that initial "are you sure you want to run windows 11" hurdle that Microsoft puts in your way to scare you.
@@handmedowntech I mean as they have changed the CPU specs will windows 11 be offered to me when right now I can't upgrade without some hacks so to speak

Can we do the TPM upgrade from Linux?
@@user.A9 HP stuff is not very friendly to linux. It doesn't even play nice with win10xpe. You could try wine, is that still a thing in Linux? To try running the command line tools.
Sure it works with G1 Mini? I don´t have "security processor" in my settings. It´s an G1 Mini with an i7-4785T. Seems to me, that there is no TPM module. edit: PC health check says, there is no tpm module. So i don´t think, that will work with G1 Mini.
My G1 is being used as a backup NAS so I'll have to see if Windows 11 will boot on it - its been quite a few videos since then so my memory is a bit fuzzy on the G1 - but I would hope that I wouldn't have included it if it didn't work.
I can run Windows 11 on the G1 but finding that the most I can get is TPM 1.2 and the security processor dialog comes up blank - I'll keep playing with it

I'm running into many of the same issues you probably have - doesn't look like HP put out 2.0 firmware for the G1 - I'll keep playing with it. I can get Windows 11 to run - pretty fast too.
Tried to follow your video, but I keep getting "The file cannot be copied onto itself" message when trying to copy the file in the command prompt

Your videos have been my go-to information on HP Elitedesk computers. Please tell me the menu boot key for Model 800 G5. I bought a G5 with no OS, and I am trying to get W10P installed. Thank you.
When you say "key" do you mean key on the keyboard? If you turn on the unit and hold down the escape key it should go into a menu that then you can use F9 to specify the boot device or F10 to get into the system setup. Let me know if that helps and thanks for the kind words and watching.
By key, I am referring to one of the F keys. I believe I was able to get to the menu by tapping on F10 during startup. I have four Elitedesk 800 G5, all the same.

Unfortunately I didn’t manage to update the TPM version from 1.2 (6.43) to 2.0 on my G3 800 Mini despite following all the instructions
I did have a case where I had to do 3 upgrades in order to get it to 2.0
@@handmedowntech I tried to use ALL the BIN files provided but the Configuration Tool never launched. It always says the BIN image is unable to update the firmware. I even updated the BIOS. The only thing I haven't tried so far was clearing the TPM (whose consequences I'm not aware of)

It won't support 8th Gen processor.

I checked for Windows updates after installation and the Windows updates did show what Windows updates that were needed (i.e.,Defender). So not sure what that notification of Microsoft meant, automatic updates?
That's my experience too. I use the same SSD to run Windows on all of my videos and I've had updates get installed on each of them from G1 to G4. My day to day computer is a G3 and I get updated all the time.

@@handmedowntech after 7:10 . when I try that command it doesn't copy and says that message.
I am suffering with this problem for a while now i cant play games and do my works because of this. And i need that win11. It's frustating. Do you have discord or something, we can hop on calls or chat to fix this. After surfacing the web I think you are the only guy that can help me.
I have a video coming out tomorrow in which I upgrade a EliteDesk 705 G3 Mini TPM towards the end of the video. Instead of all the file copying and command line I simply run the GUI version of the tool and it figures out the file to use. You just need to make sure the TPMConfig utility is copied into the firmware folder

When I installed windows 11 on my G2 mini I clean installed worked fine but the odd thing did not work as it detected the CPU so went back to windows 10
Are you sure it wasn't booting from some other drive on the G2? I know I've done fresh installs on both the G2 and G3 without issue. Also did you delete all the old partitions first?
I never have issues with installing or running but I think it stops giving you some updates when I had it on mine I went to intel and they gave me a video driver for windows 11 so that was good I'm not sure %100 what it was but something was not right and I wanted to do something and it said bad CPU
Hmmm, hope you figure that one out. I can say that I use my G2 on Windows 11 pro for everything and no issues with updates.

Starting at 3:02 I explain about updating the TPM. For G1 you won't be able to get to 2.0 but you can with G3 and I believe with G2. But Windows 11 will install regardless of the TPM if you follow the video.

Presumably it uses the same chips as the DM so you are limited to 1.2 TPM
just thought i would let you know i installed chrome OS flex just to test it out and it runs really good cant find a single fault i'm now looking at upgrading my G2 mini to a G4 mini once i get that i think i will keep this G2 on chrome OS flex the only thing missing from it is the play store but i'm not bothered with that google according to the web support the G2 with chrome OS flex

@@handmedowntech I first installed it on an old Acer S7 laptop works like a dream apart from Bluetooth is the weak spot headphones is a no go and my mouse keeps disconnecting but tested it on the hp and it just runs only problem is it don't have the play store
@@handmedowntech so can't install apps unless I do a hack and put the play store on it
So it doesn't come with play store as part of the install? Wonder how they expect folks to add apps?
@@handmedowntech it come with the basic Google stuff there is away of getting the okay store on there but I have not done the hack yet but for what it is I like it

I disabled TPM, no more W11 reminders.
So Windows no longer gives you the option to upgrade? What type of computer?
@@handmedowntech I have a EliteMini G9 however this works with any PC - W11 requires your TPM 2.0 to be enabled inorder for it to install. However if you 'hide' or disable TPM, those nagging W11 messages will go away and it'll never ask you to upgrade to the still buggy W11.
Thanx for the video but there are far easier ways to upgrade from Win 10 to 11 on non supported machines.
