Chester brought such a unique combination of vulnerability and defiance in his voice and lyrics that is difficult to replicate, in my opinion. They should have started a new band with the same vibe instead of finding an alternative to such an iconic voice of a generation (like Dave Grohl/Foo Fighters -- could you imagine if they tried to replace Kurt to hold on to the Nirvana IP/branding?) Because there is no comparison. This decision was unfair to Armstrong, too.
People seem to forget that chester was gifted, he had a voice of an angel, and a scream of a demon, and his growls,screamos just sends chills down my spine. This was the early 2000s the rise of nu metal.
Yes, when I saw there songs I couldn't recognize some in the beginning because they sound so different. And they change the key and yet she doesn't hit the notes or not with intensity.
@@francesoxberry6816 No, not "a lot" of bands do that. Mostly bands on their last tour when they are old and can't reach those high notes anymore. And especially not bands were guitar riffs play are role because they can become unrecognizable. Like LP just do.
I understand why Chesters son was so disappointed. No one can wipe the legacy of the legendary Chester Bennington. He was a beautiful, talented human being and I will always miss him. Props to Emily, she has HUGE shoes to fill, the hits just didn't sound right

I don’t think she’s right man….personally speaking I gave her a huge shot and listened to her with the crew over and over and over again and it doesn’t feel right idk why…I’m willing to give her another chance but something just doesn’t feel right. I feel like they should’ve dropped the linkin park name in respect for Chester and started over…idk I’m super emotionally involved in the Chester era and so maybe my opinion doesn’t count but listening to her sing the old songs and grab herself between the legs constantly and then finding out about like the suuuuper bizarre stuff she’s into behind the scenes all comes together in a bad taste in my mouth…I usually try to separate the personal goings on of personal life and public life as long as the product is what everyone is searching for but like I said it’s all a bit much to handle especially as a super super long time fan who’s still dealing with the loss of someone so important to me in the position.
Chester blows her away! Chester blows many singers away. His voice was uniquely angelic and agonizing, depending on how he sang. Such power and such delicate beauty. Two sides of the same coin. Very rare. Cannot duplicate it unless you’re born with it. Chester IS and always will be Linkin Park. You could replace any other member but Chester and it would still be Linkin Park. Without Chester, it’s something else. Should be called something else. Let his songs lie. RIP to another amazing soul gone too soon. ❤❤❤😢
Personaly I feel Chester can't be replaced. I'm glad they are moving forward. Her voice doesn't really grab anything for me because of the legacy. Regardless, I wish them well. R.I.P Chester
@@Benjomatif you look into it she has done covers of their songs, but they are releasing an album of new music too. One of the tracks are available to hear before its release. I’m not saying their isn’t things of hers that I’m not a fan of that I have heard she did or does support.
No there are many insanely talented singers who would’ve jumped at the opportunity. Of course none with Chester’s unique talent but would’ve been exciting to hear a new era. They chose a mediocre replacement.

I agree with some of the other comments where they should start fresh with a new band, I get they want to play and move onto a new chapter. But Chester was the soul behind the songs, the raw emotion his voice is what made linkin park feel like linkin park, and it’s not a knock on the rest of the incredible members. When John bonham passed, Led Zeppelin dissolved, because they knew he was irreplaceable, and preserved the legacy of the band and his memory. The legacy of the group should be preserved, when you have such an iconic vocalist like Chester as your lead pass away, idk you can’t just recreate that feeling with a new member. Just my 2 cents

Emily Armstrong is really talented but everytime I listen to a Linkin Park song it just gets me so emotional. I still miss Chester Bennington and I’m glad they’re still carrying on his legacy

I have much respect for Chester, and I understand why long time fans will always prefer him. And I love hearing these songs with Emily’s voice. To me personally, these songs sound amazing and beautiful with her voice.

i was actually thinking that exact thought this morning. even if they played on the name as an ode to Chester - but that would have been better. Better because a large portion of LP/LL community are struggling to disconnect the Chester expectations of it all. It is not fair to anyone really this way. Same, and the same goes for Static-X, they're not Static-X without Wayne Static. They can be something else if they want, I would love to see them move on and do their own thing. But they're not Static-X, or Linkin Park anymore.

I think them keeping the name is a detriment to the band too because many people will instantly be turned away because it’s not the Linkin Park they are comfortable with. LP is truly one of my favourite bands since the beginning when they dropped Crawling , I am a devoted fan and always will be , and now we all have the opportunity to see this band perform again , Emily has an amazing voice and I like it , the fact she has the ability to perform Chester's songs is beyond me . Remember she is not a impersonator she is her own person and that comes through in her vocals . She can never replace Chester I'm sure she knows that , she has big shoes to fill, but atleast the band can live on in his name and continue the journey they all started together. Chester never actually screamed to sing a note. He has that natural distortion and rasp in his voice. This is what made him different from other metal singers. He had that hard rock voice to him as well has grunge tone. He could sing soft songs or operatic. People who compare chester with some random singer is an idiot. Chester is in the top 5 voices ever. Iconic to say the least.

I'd heavily recommend from ashes to new, they're great and have a heavy linkin park vibe on some of their songs, there's even a short on their channel where there main harsh vocalist does the long scream at the end of given up, it's sick af I'd recommend listening to it :)
and also their song "enough" is so linkin park-esq that sometimes I hear it in the background while doing something and mistake it for an actual linkin park song lol I'd recommend that song too (by from ashes to new btw)
@jimmyabort8763 dead Sara is a a bar band who can't seem to get any rock bands to let them go on tour with them. She is a below average singer that is trying to be on the same level as Chester. She can't even sing Numb without struggling with the notes that have been modified for her. Chester used Numb as a rest song during their hour and a half concerts.

If only Chester had been strong enough to continue to endure his mental anguish and know that his voice through his songwriting and music was so impactful to millions of his fans across the globe. Millions of fans who struggle with right along side him. The Internal suffering was just too much and the alcohol was the one thing that brought him to make the choice to leave his family, friends and fans behind. It was a selfish choice but it was a choice he felt he needed to make. Chester will be a rock legend for generations!

I think them keeping the name is a detriment to the band too because many people will instantly be turned away because it’s not the Linkin Park they are comfortable with. With a new name they could start a new chapter.

LP is truly one of my favourite bands since the beginning when they dropped Crawling , I am a devoted fan and always will be , and now we all have the opportunity to see this band perform again , Emily has an amazing voice and I like it , the fact she has the ability to perform Chester's songs is beyond me .
Remember she is not a impersonator she is her own person and that comes through in her vocals .
She can never replace Chester I'm sure she knows that , she has big shoes to fill, but atleast the band can live on in his name and continue the journey they all started together.

Chester never actually screamed to sing a note. He has that natural distortion and rasp in his voice. This is what made him different from other metal singers. He had that hard rock voice to him as well has grunge tone. He could sing soft songs or operatic. People who compare chester with some random singer is an idiot. Chester is in the top 5 voices ever. Iconic to say the least.
Adding a new vocalist is fine...but Chester's been gone 7 years. Don't come back now with a new one playing old stuff. Come back with new stuff.

I’m glad they’re happy and moving on but I’d rather watch a sick cover band and vibe out to old classics with an undiscovered lead who kills Singing Chester’s part. RIP Chester, RIP Linkin Park.

I'd heavily recommend from ashes to new, they're great and have a heavy linkin park vibe on some of their songs, there's even a short on their channel where there main harsh vocalist does the long scream at the end of given up, it's sick af I'd recommend listening to it :)
and also their song "enough" is so linkin park-esq that sometimes I hear it in the background while doing something and mistake it for an actual linkin park song lol I'd recommend that song too (by from ashes to new btw)
@jimmyabort8763 dead Sara is a a bar band who can't seem to get any rock bands to let them go on tour with them. She is a below average singer that is trying to be on the same level as Chester. She can't even sing Numb without struggling with the notes that have been modified for her. Chester used Numb as a rest song during their hour and a half concerts.

If only Chester had been strong enough to continue to endure his mental anguish and know that his voice through his songwriting and music was so impactful to millions of his fans across the globe. Millions of fans who struggle with right along side him. The Internal suffering was just too much and the alcohol was the one thing that brought him to make the choice to leave his family, friends and fans behind. It was a selfish choice but it was a choice he felt he needed to make. Chester will be a rock legend for generations!

She simply can’t bring the same passion in her vocals and I don’t think it was smart to have her perform some of their biggest hits as her debut… I obviously wish LP well but they may as well have formed a new band with her instead.
