Porsche Design Magic V2 Review: Still The Thinnest & Lightest Foldable
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 тра 2024
- Honor Magic V2 RSR is the global premium version of the Honor Magic V2 I first covered six months ago. At the time, it was by far the lightest and thinnest foldable. Now, six months later, the gap has closed a bit, but it's still leading the pack.
The Honor Magic V2 RSR brings a 6.4-inch outside screen, 7.9-inch main folding screen, with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and a 5,000 mAh battery. There's also stylus support for both screens.

That is why I like a foldable with a good front aspect-ratio. I do not need to open as much so increasing longevity, and if the folding display breaks, I still have a good experience from the outer one. That is why I hated the Galaxy Fold 4, a terrible design that put me off foldable’s. But since the Pixel Fold these better front displays show that they can be useful.
Wow. Honor is giving everyone a beating with this brilliant hardware and software
If you watch the video, you'll see that the software isn't "brilliant".
oneplus open is the best by far
@@profesorz642 Oneplus put a fire under samsung, I think the Fold 6 is going to be a big change based on the leaks and possibly the new king of foldables. Wider outside screen, periscope telephoto, and new thinner hinge.
I own the V2 Fold, whilst it's lovely it most certainly isn't owning it in software!!
Thank you Ben. Excellent as always.
OnePlus Open/Oppo supports stylus on both screens.
(Great video as always tho!!)
Thank you Ben for the review.
As always man thanks for your work
I'm from Canada and I just got my Honor Magic V2 RSR and it's a phenomenal phone. Best phone I've owned in a long time.
Sorry, where did you order phone - thx
Nice review 👌 Bro as always ❤❤
Amazing review keep it up as always bro
Love your reviews ❤
Love Ur reviews ben ❤ this device is awesome honor did a great job from the lightweight design and bright displays to the respectable cameras and dependable battery life there's a lot to like about it.
Can't wait for magic 6 pro review ben 👏
What a fantastic looking phone! 😍🥰😘🤩
Love it how Ben immediately legs it once he's signed off 😄
Probably got a plane to catch!
What a nice looking phone and great accessories! I hearken back to the day I imported my Huawei phone to Kansas USA. I absolutely enjoyed the Mate 20x and still have it, along with the stylus a smart flip cover and a bee top game controller.
Now it seems like all the really kick ass China phones are just forbidden fruit.
Another great video Ben, thanks for showing me something else I can't have 🌻✌️
I love that you went into detail about the case 👍
It's a good case!
Thank you, Ben.
Good choice of song 🗣️🔥🔥
I got the original Honor Magic V2 back in October and overall enjoy it(using it as my back-up) and just bought the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro today to replace my Pixel Fold(Like it, but too HEAVY for me) as my primary daily driver. Definitely don't think I can go back to a normal slab phone. GREAT video as usual Ben.❤
One of the first phones with nice design. For a long time.
Honestly would have gotten the Magic V2 if Honor launched it at globally at the same time as in China. The Magic V2 was the first ever foldable that I actually would daily drive, it really is a shame.
Its still worth it to buy because of its overclocked 8 gen 2 just like zfold 5
A great and genuine review👍👍👍
Hi am living in Thailand, Honor finally launched the Magic V2 in Thailand on 7 Feb'24 with the damn price of 59,9990thb😢 😢. After hearing the price I came back from shop 😅😅😅
İ waiting for huawei mate x5 ,globalversion👍🏼
Best looking foldable phone
I am blown away by the phone , I received mine recently the normal V2 with the leather back , I wish there was a proper phone protector out there for this impeccable phone .....
Very good video. Waiting the Huawei x6 to buy a foldable. Hope for an European version of the x6 🙏🙏
@Ben when are you doing the Honor Magic 6 Pro review? That's what I'm waiting for because it's launching in the UK very soon.
I'm also waiting for the review, I have a honor magic 5 pro. Considering upgrading or possibly buying 4 my wife 💯
Hello Ben.
Looking forward to seeing you testing the new Vivo X Fold 3 Pro ! Will you ?
Thanks !!
07:40 you can also tap and hold notification, and turn off notifications from that app this way
7:14 I always suffer because of this missing feature I must always go to settings to clear the cash or the data of any app on my honor90 5G , I think honor must reconsider this feature on their phones
Hey Ben! Was wondering if you will be able to checkout and review some of the smart glasses coming out of China like the TCL rayneo X2, the Meizu Myvu Ar glasses and the Meizu Myvu discovery AR glasses
The case is really nice for additionak dust protection! Most of the folding phone cases are either slim like the porche one but no flap over the hinge, or otterbox thick. I hope this inspires more cases for the rest of the phones. Is there one for the Honor V2?
Hi Ben thanks for the amazing video. Owner of the phone here. I noticed that while we can indeed split UA-cam horizontally, a lot of apps still don't want to be split that way (including twitch).
Any idea on why this arbitrary restriction? They developped the feature, it works great. And then they just lock some apps out of it for no reason
Your opinion on the ultra-wide is flipped from how I use my phone camera. I mostly use the ultra-wide, not the main camera. I find the main camera is still too zoomed in to be really useful for most pictures I wanna take. Though that might just be my phone, the Mi9T. Maybe other phones have a wider field of view on the main camera lol
Again you can go into app info from multitasking view by long pressing the icon. Also does not take very long
Still not the way literally every other android brands does it. Still an extra ste0
At one point they said that they were focused on the hardware part and the software part is coming, but nothing happened
Awesome phone, I wish I can afford it
Damn Honor Slaps ngl
Just for confirmation because you said that it supports Wireless Charging ; I have seen some reviewers saying the opposite.
When will we get the full review 4 the honor magic 6 pro?
Nice phone Ben
Honor Magic v2 Porsche edition and Huawei mate x5 , One plus open could be the best Foldable of the year . I am a samsung knight and I admit Samsung has work to do w the z fold 6
Would love to see you pit this against the Open head to head
if i got rich enough to buy a foldable phone, then this is gonna be it. damn nice
This smartphone is released 6 months too late internationally.
People who are willing to put $1700-$2000 into a smartphone, are certainly people who value the specs, but also and above all the software, the software tracking, and a good warranty.
And I think that the leaks of the future Galaxy Fold 6 and Pixel Fold 2 with their design changes, and especially their 7 years of update, will lead many to wait to see what these smartphones will look like, not to mention the OnePlus Open which has positioned itself as a major competitor.
OnePlus Open/Oppo Find N3: Hold my beer 🍺
Where can it be purchased from for folks in the United States?
The way Honor Launches their phones globally is so frustrating
Oneplus open supports pen on both screens too
ill wait for the huawei mate x6 around oct/nov
Big Question.
What about Android Auto? Does it work with it?
I have watched a lot of reviews but no one tells about it.
I am not sure how many people look for that feature in the global version of Chinese phones.
Just curious.
Thanks
Need Magic 6 Pro full review
I have a hard time opening the fold because there is nothing to dig in like Samsung and Oppo. Honor's cameras are not on par with Samsung or Oppo but form factor is crazily good. Sad story is my wife took mine and I am using s24 ultra now.😅
How is the heat dissipation in this phone? Does it get very hot?
Hey Ben, does the app info option appear when you long-press an app in the recent tasks menu? If so at least that would skip the need to access the settings app
No
Where can it be purchased?
How hard is it for phone manufacturers to provide the latest OS and Security updates for their buyers?
Xiaomi pad 6s pro video ??
How good this V2 compared to Find N3?
Does the half screen stay up tight at a 45 or 60 degree angle (a.k.a laptop mode)? You only showed it staying up tight at 90 degrees.
Yes it does
1+ open is probably thinner and it has stylus support on inner and outer screen
I disagree with you for one point.
At this price I expect the ultra wide, the wide and a periscope that kills the standard V2 at least, to me the oppo find n3 red cliff is a better purchase, I also think honor update support is miserable and they lack on pushing android to its potential.
With that said I give them the credit for the most beautiful hardware in foldable, but at 800usd for an honor phone I'm pleased not at 1600usd and plus, I find this price too much for the software lacking refinery!
This looks so thin and I wonder how it will feel in the hands especially with the curved sides.
I don't understand the mention of an iPhone in a foldable video.
😂 might as well wait to see if they do a timely global release for the V3😂 6 months in phone world is an eternity lol
The fold in the middle seems more visible than other foldables?
It is,.compared to other Chinese phones anyway
11:28 Bro, are you sure this device supports wireless charging? I am using Magic V2, and my device does not support wireless charging.
it doesn't, he made a mistake
whats the name of the tennis game?
this works on USA carriers too.. Do you know anyone that has stress tested this device with a dust, dirt, water torture test? I know the phone does not have any formal IP rating but there are rumors that Honor did make it resistant to water and dust. No one has formally tested this yet.
It's water resistant. I wouldn't take it underwater but im sure it would survive being used in rain. As for stress test I dunno I am not the type to do it.
But I generally think the supposed fagilty of foldable phones are overblown. I have been using foldables every day for 5 years I have never broken one, and I never felt like I need to baby any of them.5
This or the Open?
Brother this is the most optimized cheapest on a market !!!! Firmware is POLISHED to that gen processor.
Honor V Purse is lightest and thinnest foldable smartphone in the world now.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
1:17 Undeniably the Honour Magic v2 thinnest is very noticeable in watching your review while you hold it together with the Z fold 4. This is what Apple is probably targeting to build the world's thinnest phone and to perfect it before they release it to the public. 3:12 The rounded corners of the case is ideal for holding it with your palm. 4:35 The high nits brightness has add more value to this foldable phone. 5:12 I can see a noticeable difference between the thinnest of the two phones and Honour is clearly thinner than the fold 5. 5:59 The thickness is visibly the same as it can be seen in the review.
This long press to the app is super annoying I don't understand honor.. The other annoying thing is the swipe down from the middle.. Is so difficult for them to do it... So many people complain about these 2
🤚🏼

SD 8 gen 2 in 2024? What is honor smoking ?
What about it? Nothing wrong.. you Listing? It is a 2023 phone
Ah yes, one generation behind. What a travesty. Definitely not like Apple, Samsung, or Google have done that before...
"you really need to be the most nitpicky... user to spot a difference between the 8 gen2 and 8 gen3. I don't think it's a big deal." Damn...
@jacksonburger2081 fanboyism is a disease. Don't give excuses to them they charge you over 2000 EUR for porsche logo 😆
Lmao this is a 2023 model 😂 this didn't get the global release. Honor V3 is coming this year
@@jacksonburger2081 As for Google, their Tensor chip is 1.5 generation behind Snapdragon so still Honor's SoC is better than Google bro😂
Looks like a great phone, but 2000 Euro, way too much!
Come on Samsung! They need to change the design language of the Galaxy Z Fold series for 2024 - this is proof that the technology is already here! I still love my S23 Ultra though haha
Nitpicking on the Fold 5 lol
XIAOMI ULTRA 14 IS OUT GET ON IT BEN'S GADGET
sorry, even though I completely agree with your points on the hardware being amazing, you are deceiving your viewers about the software.
I have owned this device (the original V2, not the Porsche edition) for the last couple of weeks since the global launch and it's safe to say that the software experience is absolutely garbage.
1.Multitasking is very painful to do, the sidebar that you have to drag apps from to open them is very inconsistent during this process, where it will just close suddenly if you move too fast.
2. Even though there is support for most apps to do horizontal split screening, there were several apps on my device which would not support split screening at all. these same apps are supported on a Samsung device for horizontal split screening, so again they are lacking in software.
3. It does not have a taskbar. the side panel is a much worse experience than using a taskbar hands down.
4. My overall feeling of the device is that it's literally just a phone which you can choose to use in a normal aspect ratio or on a slightly bigger screen but still have the exact same experience as using a phone. There is absolutely no advantage to this phone in terms of software experience after you use it for a little bit because it's so frustrating to use for the above reasons.
I have since gone back to my Samsung fold 4. yes, the hardware is a little bit more chunky and the cover screen has a weird aspect ratio, but this is seriously not as bad as people make it out to be. personally I feel like it's sensationalised by reviewers just like the crease when it's really a non-issue. the software experience of the Samsung foldables is far worth dealing with a slightly chunkier phone, you can do so much more with the Samsung foldables, it's honestly night and day for me now after using several foldable devices including Chinese imports and the OnePlus open.
hardware is nothing without good software. this is something which is largely not seen even by reviewers like yourself, sadly.
Sleek. Like my wallet when I get myself one of these 😂.
I think 6 months late this phone is DOA
£1699 here in the UK lol it will not sell at all what a stupid price and for a Honor who have not got a great reputation anymore since the chinese government issue and google issue they had a few years ago
I am in the UK and got this on pre-order, not the Porsche one. I got £500 off and traded-in my Fold 4 for £400. So cost was £800 but I also got some headphones (£250) free and a charger and 6 months screen extended warranty. So about £450 to upgrade from my Fold 4 to this with the trade in!
@@andyH_Englandfrom where?
Everything about honor is awesome but their software support just sucks. They are too damn slow providing new android OS updates. Like their last flagship magic 5 pro still on Android 13 that's a deal breaker for me.
I have a project to develop holographic phone call. Any of the major smart phone producers like Huawei, Apple Xiaomi and Samsung can contact me if they are interested to know more.
Magic OS 7.2 ?... WTF....
Chinese global phones are always too late.
I juste bought the phone at 1100 euro with a stanmore 3 as a gift , so f*** Samsung and apple lol even its 6 month old.
Every time i see a samsung foldable : 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
damn your video is shaky.... get a stabiliser
Nope. Handheld footage has its own charm. Don't need to follow the same cookie cutter ass template. What's next, get some neon lights in background and a mechanical keyboard I place in corner of shot for top down shots?
ah man, spoiled by the udc. while not perfect, it's better than the punch hole. also spoiled by samsung's long term support of the device. 2 years from now knows if honor will update the software or security.
Liked before watching it.
Thank you
Thanks Ben for yet another awesome review. Always giving us his honest and realistic view of the product in real life situation. 🫡🫡🫡
