It's 2024 and your tutorial is still reaching folks like me! Old, curly, silver-gray hair I cut myself is looking so good following your method. Am also able to give my husband even better haircuts. He has hair that lays well, but now, goodness it looks good! Thank you for sharing your talent with us out here 🙏🥰🙏
@pamela garrison It seems no one "knows" how to do layers anymore. I think the hairdressers nowadays give haircuts that you HAVE to come back within a month to get more money out of you. That's why I've taken to cutting my own hair - it's short and layered. This lady does a great video of doing the layers yourself.
I love the layers. It seems they don’t know how to do this anymore. I thought I was so far out of style, it was unheard of now. This stylist has done the most beautiful cut, I have ever seen. She is wonderful.
@@tillygirl7450oh i agree. And I NEED to see that video you mentioned … if you know where it is please post on a reply comment. Many thanks. Kind regards ❤❤
I purchased a good pair of Shark Fin Shears about a year ago when they were on sale and have been cutting my hair in a mirror (male cut). I never cut hair before. I just used your Uniform Layer Cut technique to cut my moms hair. She has not been to the beauty parlor since the pandemic started and it came out GREAT - she is very happy with the cut - Thanx Maureen!
I've been searching for this layered cut not knowing what's it was called and how to explain to stylists, who don't understand. Thank you for this great clip!
Love the cut! This is how I used to wear my hair. So many stylists just don’t get what a basic layer cut is. I have fine hair and so many times I’ve come out with “lines showing. Think I’ll take this video in to show her how to cut my hair.
Hiya, I’m from the UK and I wish to express my thanks to you. I’m fortunate enough to have a natural wave to the bottom of my hair and if cut correctly, it will automatically flick. The hairdresser that I have used for years retired and I sought another, with dire results. Using your step by step method, tentatively, I began to cut my hair. As I cut along the guide line, I could see just how badly my hair had been chewed. In any event and, thanks to you, it now looks really good. People have been complimenting me and asking who cut my hair! Diolch yn fawr hi Thank you very much in Welsh💕
Thank you for this hair cut. I like it. I’m a former hairdresser and I feel I’ve learned more from you ladies and guys U-tube videos on cutting hair tutorial then I actually learn from my cosmetology teachers.
I am growing my pixie cut out and am almost a year into the process. It's growing nicely into a bob, about chin length now, but my hair is thick and unruly and I want layers. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for; I can have layers and keep the base length in the back so as it grows out, it will be nice and even and pretty. I am SO glad I found this, thank you!
Thank you so much for this wonderful video. My daughter just cut my hair using this as a guide. You were very clear with instructions. My daughter is left handed but cuts with right hand, at first she was hesitant but with your calm clear manner she was able to overcome her fear. My haircut included cutting a 10 inch ponytail off and then going to 2 inch layers. Thank you again for this excellent video
Oh Wow Maureen, thank you ever so much for such a comprehensive guide in the best layered hair cut. Well done. Now I am going to give my Mum her long overdue layered hair cut.😊❤👍Wish me luck.
I think I will be cutting my aunt’s hair in the next couple of days. The hairdresser who promised to come cut her hair (she is not doing well and is declining). I have been cutting my layered curly hair for a year and a half (since corona virus pandemic began) so I think I’m ready. And, your video is EXCELLENT, something I so needed to see, since my aunt’s hair is a one-length type cut. THANK you, from the bottom of my heart!!💜
I love this cut I’m hoping my hairdresser knows how to cut it I’m going to show her the video then maybe I can get this great cut. Thank you for this video
This is the second Mohawk section cut I've seen tonight. I'm going to practice it later on. My license expired 30+ years ago. I'm studying for state board to be reinstated. The Tennessee board requires that we start at the nape of the neck and use a razor to establish a guide. Of course I'm studying that technique first. I do like the this style and I can come back to it later on. You also gave me a good idea. I'm going to cut longer than the 1 inch minimum. Maybe 2-3 inches. It seems easier to see the guide that way. This was definitely worth watching. Thank you for posting.
I don’t at this time, you can use this haircut …just make the length shorter, and texturize around the perimeter (face, ears and neckline). Then you can customize this cut for you. 😁
Love his cut. Notice the comments pertaining to some stylists " not" getting it. This is obviously time consuming to do and many stylists aren't interested in spending so much time on a client. Time is money.
Maureen, I love your video and watch it repeatedly. My only criticism is that I wish you would have started your video explaining how and where you do the sectioning. Otherwise, love everything about the video and the way you explain everything step by step. Kudos Maureen!!
Just wish I could find semi short working with my type of hair. I mostly see straight hair... Mine is thick, naturally curly, frizzy top. Brush my hair step outside looks like I never brushed it... The best hair cut I ever had was a Mullet.... There's so many mullets out there, can't find anyone to cut it like I want, say they understand, they don't then I let it grow out start all over.
Hello maureen. I have tons of very fine hair, enough for two heads, years ago a hairdresser used to cut my hair like this because it was the only style I could manage, she used to soften the ends lovely . She used to say my hair hated corners but I never knew what she meant. Still don't after watching this. Could you explain what the corners are because i've been getting alot of dodgy haircuts recently. Thanks.
Corners refer to the hair when you cross check it. You’re cutting straight lines on a curved head, so the corners are the excess hair trimmed off to complete your cut. Or, she could mean your hair doesn’t like straight lines, so your cuts need a more textured cut
@@maureenrichards3288 Hello Maureen & thank you for replying. You're absolute right about my hair hating straight lines. At the moment I'm trying to grow out a pixie cut. When I pick up the layers especially on top of my head they are all the same length from back to front. I Haven't had my hair this short for a very long time but I do know that when I had it cut short previously, it was so much easier for me to style as it is currently. I'm desperately trying to grow it longer but there's too much volume & bulk which prevents it from laying correctly. I'm certain that years ago they would cut the corners off, ie, when I picked the top layers up between my fingers it seemed as though is was cut into triangular sections that naturally fell away from my face with no straight lines or bulkiness. I've been trying to find a diagram online. Are there any particular terms/ words I could use to explain this better to a hairdresser. It's the bulk & not the length that I want cut.
You can, you need to allow for curly hair shrinkage. I would extend the length based on the type of curl you’re working with. Definitely a nice look for curly hair 👍🏻
