I don't know if you are still dealing with the stress anxiety from food. I just saw somewhere else, that fructose will cause this. But not just from sugar, but the poly pathway, your body will convert glucose to fructose. And that will cause anxiety. Sounds like what i hear you say.

Congratz Ryan! Not sure how you did it, but I got at least 40 ads on this video. 💰💸
Joking aside, this interview was amazing. Thanks for doing it.

Such an interesting discussion. I’m exploring the hclf concept because my fasting blood sugar was rising on a keto diet. Numbers were around 120 in the morning and bottoming out at 100 in the afternoon. What finally drove me off the diet was a fasting blood sugar of 105 after 3 days of fasting and that had never happened before, usually around 70 at the end. Going to try going full Durianrider and just eat sugar for a few days. Wish me luck.

You may notice some digestion issues in the beginning but it gets a lot better

"Blood glucose comes down." Would love to see what is occurring with insulin. The anticipation is that it is lowered. But how do we know for sure unless you "put it to the test." Please investigate Brad. You are the one on the cutting-edge of this......

You have to do a fasting insulin level along with a glucose tolerance test.

He blatantly ignores the fact that Cassava can contain a lot of Cyanide if you are unlucky. And it's a significant amount of work to process it safely. Processed cassava products that I know are Cassava flour, Gari (staple in Ghana and Nigeria, it's dried/fried Cassava granules, that you can mix with hot water to make a porridge), and Tapioca (isolated Cassava starch granules). I do like the texture of Gari, it works quite well for breakfast, and it's super quick to prepare, and should be very convenient for traveling.
I prefer purple sweet potatoes, they are far more starchy and dense than the typical orange ones. I also like Taro, but it's very hard to buy good taro here in Germany. I haven't tried true Yams yet (chinese Yams doesn't need processing at least to be safe to eat).

Sound similar to the McDougal elimination diet. Ever tried that?

I'm always wary of the claim that obese humans have more lean mass than a "muscular" counterpart. It's not uncommon to see someone who is overweight or obese with really skinny arms, for example. The problem with all the Bodyfat estimates is that they are ESTIMATES, and most of them aren't very accurate, even underwater weighing. Beyond that, they estimate Bodyfat as one part, and everything else as the other. That "everything else" includes water, muscle and bone, but people usually just say "lean mass." It's quite possible that obese humans are carrying around a lot of extra fat, a lot of extra water, and normal or below normal amounts of muscle and bone.

Goal - to become insulin sensitive
    Uses - high glycine

It seems many people get lost in the depths of detail and minutiae that forever exist when it comes to the human body. Lots of complex things going on and if you think you understand a process - you’re fooling yourself.

I wonder if the bcaa & glycine issues are similar to the omega 3 vs omega 6 issue. For most folks it is simpler to just add more omega 3s to the diet either with more fish consumed or take fish oil capsules. To deal with the impact of high levels of bcaa(s), can we add more glycine to diet, maybe 3 to 6 grams per day (supplements and or meat protein broths). Just curious.

So whats your take away from this interview with Brad? No offense but his diet sounds miserable & the food sounds unappealing. Im not a vegan, but i do think high protein could be problematic. but i thought Ray Peat said to eat gelatin with muscle meat, i read that before. So if you wanted to keep eating meat but add in gelatin/ glycine would that balance out the BCAA & help insulin resistance? Ray peat talks quite a bit about collagen. Is this new news since Ray Peat did talk about gelatin?

Ray Peat completed changed his mind later in life and was all about hclf.

@@healthcausesregeneration I did hear that Ray Peat changed his mind later in his life about eating high protein. So do think the biggest cause of weight gain & insulin resistance is from the BCAA or the high fat? Or is it both? I do see people eat junk food & soda & are skinny so would it be because their protein (BCAA) is low? It's getting so confusing I do think brad might be on to something. I like that your willing to branch out with your interviews & not just talk to vegans. I always appreciate different points of views instead of some UA-camrs who are so dogmatic. I think getting to the root of the whole obesity epidemic takes a lot research & flexible thinking

@@heathercope5102 Personally I think that this BCAA thing would depend more on your bodies ability to remove it and how long it stays in the system
