It’s not Jerry but it’s John Mayer who GETS the Dead and the collaboration that made each artist selfless and that was the ultimate quality that defined the Dead . No superstars just music
Okay. JM is having the time of his life up there. Can we talk about how he still manages that amazing vocal work on “Althea” while surrounded by Deadheads and JM fans whilst playing Jerry’s guitar?!? I’m just blown away!
Sounds like you never had the opportunity to see Jerry play any guitar. He stopped playing Wolf in 1979, though he broke it out on occasion. I caught a bunch of shows from 77-79 when he was still using it. Most of the shows I saw in the 1980's he was playing Tiger, then in 1989 he started using Rosebud. Lightening Bolt was his last guitar, started playing it around 1993 but it was in the repair shop for his last tour so he played Rosebud, which malfunctioned at the last show, so Tiger was the guitar he played at the last Dead show. Keep on trucking!
Cameron. As a vet of over 300 shows, I am so happy there is a new generation that is turned on to the band. Personally, it is all I listen to but the band is so much more than the music. I hope the music brings you to your happy place. Prost
Only John Mayer can do Jerry’s part and be selfless enough to appreciate.. the Dead were never about superstars or cash even though they have succumbed to corporate greed . I appreciate and cherish these classic moments
That's the thing I like about John in D & C. He didn't try to imitate Jerry (which I thought Trey did when he played with them, No disrespect to Trey - He's great with his own style). John just tried to get the vibe ... and did a good job of it.
Like remnants of the Dead immensely....glad to know they are playing somewhere tonite.......I never tire of new interpretations of this music......rock on....
So I read that GD Productions still owns the “Rosebud” Irwin guitar.. why doesn’t JM play that one on tour along with his own guitars. What the point of it sitting in a closet vault somewhere? Any know about this guitar?
I agree.....Jerrys guitars should be played....not be locked away......I like John Mayer.....Trey.....They all bring their talents into the experience that is the remnants of the Dead and they do it well.....
Regardless of where this guitar may be. It was built for Jerry and to have Mayer play something so different from his own custom designed guitars would require much more time behind the scenes practice and education to have him play it with any sense of command Bobby and the Boys might not make it to see the day. Did you notice the strain on his body to keep a straight posture and keep from slouching forward. The fact that he practiced with Wolf enough is good enough for me . It would be great to see him play the other guitars and I'm sure if anyone has access it would be them. Think back to the first two shows tours of D&C if you remember seeing Mayers bloodied fingers from the amount of use they received. He'll give him some time I don't think we are going anywhere . I feel confident we will all see the magic in the Doug Erwin guitars again . Majic is exactly what this world will see again. I am not denying your statement when you say the guitars are worthless behind the glass. The music was meant to be played . The reason we are on tour again.
Pretty sure it's still on display in Cleveland at the RnR Hall of Fame. It was pretty sweet to see up close, so I wouldn't consider it in a closet vault. It was AWESOME. I kind of want to go back just to see it, assuming it's still on display.
Camera wo/man might as well might as well had offered the head bopper, slightly blocking magic in music , $1,500 cash, like from coach to first class to stretch.
Uhh yea I’m just gonna say, why? Why soooooooooo slow? It’s too slow, really bugs us. We play, I worked for them in the 80s. I’m not grumpy I love them. So why so slow? Just a little bit faster would be slow. This is a half step down. They do it more and more.. Bobby is over intonating when he sings. I guess it’s just what it is.
@@manfromanotherplace2918 well...I've watched a 1/2 doz of these. I obviously feel he fits but I find JM's playing a little to...well...not enuff space and just never idles for others. I know, I know...hate to vibe it cause it really is special. Nobody on stage has a problem. Just sayn and feeling odd sayn it.... geez.

WOLF!!! Jerry would be proud!

What an amazing show. I’m only 17 so I never had the opportunity to see Jerry play the wolf, but hearing John play it was a true privilege
Sure was, I was at this show as well.

I think Jerry's soul still resides in that guitar. Priceless sound and beauty, with irreplaceable style. Pure magic!

I wish I could here Rosebud once again.
Thank you Dead & Co. for continuing to drive the bus. Ive been on it since 1975.
John has Jerry down plus adds his own voice! One of the best songs I've heard from dead and company. Thanks for posting

I love when Bob comes in with 'Inspiration'. Iconic moment!
I love the piano so much in this one.
Great from crowd perspective thanks for posting and sharing. I'm almost to tears, I'd be if I wasn't at (one of the top ten)a public library. Go US.

Outstanding! Blistering performance. Nice work noteworthy from John, Jeff & Wolf
I said "noteworthy"
Yes! Thank you . Jeff doesn’t seem to get the credit he’s usually due . Fire 🔥 at citi
Pentacle haha ... poor Bobby

Jerry's soul was there last night!

thank you for this. this show was so great
My family is amazing ! Personally I am glad to have been at this show than the upcoming NY shows . Grateful Dead for life!
Went to Foxbough. Great show. Heading to North Carolina for Friday and Atlanta for Sat. So freeing to drift into dance at the shows
That guitar sound is so sweet... And he is only using half of the tech I side if it. I would have burst into tears if I was there in person. Wow
Plus having it next to Brent's organ is even sweeter.
Were Brent's keyboards there too??? I'm so unbelievably jealous
@@koreykoch728 that is what Jeff has played on for years.
We did . It was so beautiful to hear that guitar in the lineup again
@@StreamingFatha I had no idea
these vocals are "a rare and different tune".
Thanks for this post! 😄 that was good!
This is just fantastic
WOLF!! So sweeet to hear your voice strummed by such a worthy master.. I don’t care what anyone says, John, like Snow is King of the North!
John is channeling Jerry. He/they sound amazing.
I see you, "Oteil rump shakin, bass bombing, smiles for miles Burbidge'
No shortage of "Smoke" at a Dead show :)
i never experienced wolf and jerry but wow john is amazing
Camera wo/man might as well might as well had offered the head bopper, slightly blocking magic in music , $1,500 cash, like from coach to first class to stretch.
head bopper lol
This was an unreal moment tbh
Evreyone is going on about Wolf, but what about Oteil's Prince tribute guitar?
Keith Turner -it a new Modulus guitar

Awesome show last sunday!!! Special treat hearing Wolf in person!!!!
The Wolf rolls out Althea, yes sir!
Thanks for this
Holy Althea wow :)
Jenn S yup
that was amazing!
The Terrapin Station backdrop resembles the Union Terminal in Cincinnati. Sure as hell ain't the Terrapin they speak of..maybe some day.
I cannot stand crowd chatter
My fav of the night.
18:23 is when he finally starts to go off on that last solo and doesn't hold back
Wow!!
Thank you!!
Long live Wolf!
Mandatory free frontal lobotomies are available for the ones who thumbs down to this.
Whoever doesn't like this probably has aids which is effecting their thought process
Lady with thy fan
stand up dude,,,,, easy for me to say i'm 6 foot 6
Bob Weir!
Jesus Bobby stop enunciating every word 😂
Bring it to Hawaii
finally sounds rite
It took me a minute to realize O'Teil's bass is his logo but in bass form
I dont like mayer..he sounds like hes constipated! His voice is an irratant
Mayer should never be allowed to touch Wolf, he shouldn't even get to look at it. What a joke, ruining the music.
L.P. Runyon booooooooo negative vibes booooooooooo
