My favorite set 1 opener right when it begins to kick in
Wow - I have listened to this probably 15 times while working out, John just ripping, love it so much, he is just floating around on another planet,
So amazing!
You should definitely check out any version of jrad playing this song
I think he born an Alien ! ?
@@beastice1113 I saw they are coming to Chicago, I def will, thanks!!
Best ending riff of any Dead song,, hands down for me
I feel like I am there live front row
I would pull a Shawshank redemption and crawl through a mile of shit to just huff nitrous in the parking lot of a D&C show right now.
Omfg JM was on fire here
Bravissimo!
silky silky crazy crazy
Bobby @ 52 seconds when he meets John there 🤯🤯🤯
otil kills, love his tone here
John is so much fun to watch , he is young in his 30 s ?
He’s 45 here
Oteil and John Mayer are both fantastic, but this song isn't the same without Jerry and Phil
In the marketplace the most beautiful song is interrupted by the clattering of pennies. -Nietzsche

Sometimes I see a video like this and it just makes me sit back and appreciate the technology we have today. The video and audio quality on this are really incredible.
better than the cassette tapes that had been copied 100 times back in the day right , :)
@@harryhenderson792 "Stepped on" so many times there was NO audio fidelity!
Yeah it's not 1923. I sit back and appreciate the music that never seems to stop I sit back and cry knowing this is it, their last tour...
@@misfitmollieIt was a good one. Went out on a high note. Can't ask for more than that. 💀⚡️
Bobby shaking his head in amazement 5:18
This is the real deal homies.
amen
Actually, the real GD was the real deal.
Tooooooooosloooooowww
You can actually hear otiel :-)
So nice to hear him higher in the mix. Total baddass
This is a FANTASTIC rendition... they were all on point for this one.
Man it was a fabulous show all night. Sounded great in the rose garden.
Wow. I’m speechless how well John is playing. He’s nailing those classic Jerry licks!
He was great no doubt. I never understood the Mayer hate. What did people expect, Jerry's gone & he ain't coming back.
I think its because he looks like Donnie Osmond but sounds like Jerry@@deadreckoning6288
Right around 1:14 billy catches a great vibe...
JM is trickling through a particularly Jerry like series of licks there...
Billy could do that. The time keeper. He could open up those infinite spaces.
This is the best live Stranger I’ve ever heard the Dead play. I’ve been seeing the Dead since the 80’s and listening to them since the late 60’s. Mayer was tapped into the secrets of the universe and was definitely channeling Jerry. His guitar playing has energized the old boys in the Dead and with the improv jammy nature of the band, he has grown exponentially in creativity and his technical skills are coming on par with Jerry.
I appreciate Bobby’s hard work to keep us with healthy music !
You hear this and think about interviews about Dead music by the Dead and here’s John, young, energetic, with the clearest sound sincerely chasing the spirit of Jerry and then that moment when you get that flash of awareness, it’s the Rhythm Devils themselves driving the entire thing, what Jerry said you know!
Please find a speaker that picks up bass well, for your own soul sake.
Or decent headphones.
Seriously deranged. JM is phenomenal -- everything Jerry could have been, and then some.
Your comment is incomprehensible
I don't think I've heard a better version than this
If this were love now how would I know? Love ya Bobby! Thanks for touching my life every day
@jeff b. Thanks for the archive link. It illustrates perfectly how I see and feel about both Jer' and the youngin'. Jerry plays the pocket inside the groove. Leading but listening effortless and endless ideas. Jon does as well but he is outside more often, searching and adventurous. I think he's still a little out of synch at moments. Or maybe I am and need to re calibrate. I respect his talent and when he's feeling it, holy shite he's a force. The chemistry and earnestness are there but nothing replaces the years on the road and a lifetime of playing together. Go John, definitely enjoying the ride.
I read a review a hundred years ago that said something like, Jerry seems like he's gonna miss the note, but he just barely makes it. Always. And it's perfect. Your comment reminded me of that.
@@MyNameRSIt was the space between the notes that defined their music. Endless possibilities....
It was a fun night of spinning with my fellow og heads. John really captures this jam.
Best jam band ever.
You guys that think Johnny is the new Jerry.... He's not! I love his music and his incredible way to play GD, I mean so fresh, but, honestly, the good deal is Bobby, he's might be for me the best memory of Jerry. Be kind people
Love Bobby. He's carried the torch for a long time & kept the music going. I love him for that 💜
Feeeeeeels like a strangerrrrr ass kicking melody ✌️ ☮️ 🕊
Damn Straight ole towne get down, Gorge for two nights this year! First time for a weekend go ar an amazing place ... on site camping provides the whole other part of it I love. Hearing the drum circle in the not too distance 24/7 always reminds me I am home. F'n Awesome smokin version of this song right here guys! Lotsa Loves from us :)
Waking up on a beautiful Friday morning, no work, just relaxing and appreciating life. What a jam!
Love this song! 🥰
Oh man, this is the next vid after a '90 Foolish Heart and before that '79 Seattle...this is sooo f'n lame in comparison, good because it's before the Great Slowdown, but then again Mayer's still doing his Constipated Turtle moves..then they straightened him out but the commanded lethargy conquered all...
Come back to this several times a month. What a masterpiece.
I come back to this several times a week !
This actually feels quite familiar, like I was just here, or maybe.... Feel like some strange, sir?
Out in around the 12min mark John's guitar stars to take off to whole other dimension
Beautifully recorded crystal clear
just circled back and listened to this again. The mix is great. Oteil is very prominent in the mix. See you all in Hartford in 3 days! And thank you keeping the bus on the road. This show was right around the time I saw D&C for the first time on night 1 in Fenway.
I was at this show & the Gorge. Listening to that Fenway show is what convinced me I needed to get back on the bus. Some 45 shows & 8 yrs later the bus has been put to pasture. What a fantastic run!
JM channeling his inner Jerry here and yes you can hear Oteil!
Wow nice to read some positive things
As a classically trained musician, which doesn’t mean much, I’d have to say John Mayer is probably the greatest overall guitarist alive today. Of course my anonymous opinion means nothing.
The guy can’t even tell you the scales or anything he’s using. I think that’s why (imho) he’s the best not only guitar player but best musician alive. He just gets music.
First of all, thanks for uploading.I enjoyed some of this, but I expected this to take off and it never really did.
The jam certainly was set up to do that. This is what separated Jerry from the rest.He was the pilot.
Brbadge he ain't no Jerry for sure, but this is still very nice.
I see what you mean. John is smooth as hell but he doesn't quite have the energy that Jerry brought to the equation. At least not as consistently. He definitely rips it up on guitar every so often, and I think he's still easing into the role.
They didn't call Jer captain trips for nothing. I loved DeadCo. An epic 8 yr run. ⚡️
Real different from Grateful Dead to slow
Was there for this one. Man what a fabulous show! High times. There was lots of promise & excitement in 2016, the first summer tour for DeadCo and before the world went to shit.⚡️
This is one of my fav versions of this song. John is channeling Jerry and nails it. I keep coming back to this one. Phenomenal jams that intertwine. They are really on point on this one! For all of this JM naysayers, give this a listen….
I saw my friend and his ex wife at this show and she asked him later who the homeless guy he said hi to was!!!
Sheer heaven...
HOT STUFF RIGHT HERE. If this were love now how would i know?
Show more bobby fret work!!!!! killing me man
Nice vocals, ladies!
Put this on 1.25 speed and listen to one of the hottest strangers ever!
Bob Salvage hahahahhah yo i did this on movie maker and shit made bobby sound like a chipmunk 😂
If you do it in Audacity you can change the tempo without changing the pitch.
Good idea! 1.25 sounds a little rushed to me, but normal is definitely a little drag-y. I wish there were like a 1.1 or 1.15 option!
Trying it out right now... damn... this feels like a Phish jam now. Lol.
I cant even hear that their voices were sped up. Or any of it really. The boys are just that air tight in their jams on a good night. The faster version is dope, I love it
Good headphones, volume turned up and laying my head back for a few to enjoy this masterpiece
Does anyone know what all the horns are on the kit and if they ever used them or it's just eye candy?
This was the first song at my first ever concert with my dad back in 2016
Wild, watching the sound check for this and they are wearing the same clothes like so laid back...
2016? can't believe they've been around that long now
Aaah. I had a VIP sectioned off area at the board. Awesome night.
Oh John 🤘
WHERE??? the ......This band is NOW!! Please!
Pray for August! Amen.
Good morning boys and girls
holy shit..........
🌈😎🌈
Bobby is Jerry!
Thanks for letting Johnny play with the band..! Mayer your killing it. Thanks. Long live The Dead...
Sorry I'm a critical jerk. Not only is it already agonizingly slow, it feels like the song is going to come to a grinding halt. It lacks the groove and pace from other original Dead performances.
So good. So good. Love it John.
BEST "Feel Like A Stranger" EVER! Dosent get too better than this!
Dead and Slow
listen to this at 1.25x playback speed. sounds like the 70's ;)
This song is from the 80s
@@faaaaaaaaaaack yes it sure is, but try it out
Painfully slow.
Johnny boy can play!
JCM plays a great jerry
with no offense to garcia i believe john mayer is alot more talented in playing but not as artistically lyrical as jerry
@@clarkkent4621 but Jerry had this mmf that no one else had at the time period and no one can play like or sound like him to this day.
John Mayer hasn't. Play in" Jerry, he's playing John Meyer and he's awesome at doing that. He's young and clearly his music means much to him. So, here's my bad news, nobody can play Jerry. Miss him everyday AND thank you John for stepping in when you did, the music is fresh and as Jerry would have wanted, the music never stopped! Peace
I know the purists will hate, but this is the best version of FLAS EVER. John is flying in another plane on this.
killin it
The Bonb! JM bring da heat again & again...
John Mayer gets it.
Is this originally a GD song? I feel like I heard it before I started listening to the dead
What? who are the GD? Is that Jimi Hendrix on guitar? What planet is this?
Yes...this is a GD original.
LMMFAO😀
This is so just there. No soul no UMPF. Jerry really was the captain of the ship . Hopefully they throw John off the ship ASAP
@Harris You know nothing. You bring up age before discussing REAL talent and representing Jerry. Ya PHUCKING PHISHiando
@Harris And I'm probably older than you lil guy
MrMushrooms420 regardless of how old you are you sound like a child. I’d like to know who you think should replace John. Imo he’s their best option and what’s really important is that the music keeps getting played. They don’t want someone who just rips off Jerry they want someone who brings something new to the table and can keep the music alive. Jerry is dead any nobody can be who he was and anyone who tries sounds like a rip off. John has the skill and knowledge to play the music as he sees it with his eyes and his hands and that’s what the band and the fans want
@@ianbyrnes1094 you obviously have never heard a dead show
... Listen to a dead show and then listen to John K....then John M..you must be phucking deaf
@@ianbyrnes1094 love how all these new age phans was to talk about Jerry's sound. Go tell that to some realheads and seee how much fluff gets put into your drink
I feel like a stanger listening to this...how much lower can the base be turned down? Ughhhh
