- Lollapalooza July 21, 1992 at Thunderbird Stadium Vancouver, BC. Footage and clips by Much Music Terry David Mulligan. VHS recording. Interviews with Soundgarden mostly, and Ice Cube and Ministry. Was an intense awesome day! It was perfect, especially in that Pacific Northwest rain and mud.
I was in that moshpit, and helped Chris Cornell crowd surf.
Me too :)
Small world, eh.
My first mosh pit! so bad as to be able to see clips of it all these years later! I wish i had known at the time what an incredible line up i was seeing perform.
I miss these days. I loved it when Lollapalooza was a traveling music circus of great music where you could see all the bands in one day and be home at the end of the night lol
Thank you for posting this - I was there loving every minute of it!
I love this!! Great footage of the grunge era, in the rain no less lol and being in my own city of Vancouver, this was really cool. I just saw Ministry a few months ago in Van. Those guys still kick it out hard!!
My first big concert..what a fucking amazing day..
Me and my van load of buddies went to this shit...we came over from the Island...The ferry ride was a massive pre-party and we didnt take any casualties. Im late 40's now and have still to see a concert to top this one... not even Donnington with Motorhead/Kiss and Judas Priest in the UK came close...that fuckin steam pit (thats all steam your seeing because it was so hot in the pit and it was lightly raining) was fucked up and this concert had so many great bands...literally just EXPLODING....man...if I could do one more repeat of any concert it would be this one. Thanks so much for posting

Wow what a time that would have been!!
It really was! Not like this anymore with any bands.
Soundgarden 🤘
Middle of July and it rained, was cold and damp. I had seen Soundgarden the previous November at the Commodore, and that was a crazy set, they were pretty beat up by the end of that tour. Still rocked. Ministry was the standout for sure, insane set, then Al said "We're going to do a song by our friends in Black Sabbath...." and they launched into that psycho version of Supernaut. :D That was pretty much it. The Chilis straight up sucked unfortunately. But yeah, I'm sure everyone that was there remembers that show. Good times.
It was funny how the 'biggest band in the world' RHCP was such a let down after the (to me) unknown Ministry.
Not November 1991. The previous 2 shows they played in Vancouver before Lollapalooza was.....Soundgarden w/ The Melvins in 1992 @ Commodore & before that was Soundgarden w/ VoiVod & Prong in 1990 @ Commodore.
Yes, that's how I remember it as well ! Ministry..loud and clear! I had hoped Sound Garden and Pearl Jam would would do some Temple of the Dog stuff.
@@SaintMartins was at the Melvins/ Soundgarden @Commodore also. I was in the front row for awhile. Mind blown!
@@robertnelson3544 Honestly, Pearl Jam was probably the biggest band in the world that summer, yet they inexplicably went on second. But yeah, RHCP could in no way follow Ministry. I went to the Pittsburgh show.
I remember when the steam from the pit was so bad during chili peppers they had to bring in giant fans b/c you couldnt see the stage
Wish SG entire set was available!
This is an amazing flashback
ice cube in vancouver in 92 wowww
I SAW IT IN THE 713 AKA HOUSTON TEXAS IN FORT BEND COUNTY SEPTEMBER 92. BEST. SHOW. EVER.
25 years ago today!!!
Yeah, it was epic. I had forgotten abut all that steam pouring off of us! And there was a rush to get in that packed everyone against the fence at one point. Maybe when Jesus and Mary Chain started playing. Who was on the 2nd stage? I remember the Jim Rose Circus Sideshow which was nuts. Who else?
My mom was here front row with RHCP
Too bad you weren't eh! Good for your Mum...You weren't even a fetus
Take me back..
What Pat said... I was there, backstage and yes they were incredible... that was a Great show all inclusive everybody was Awesome.. all the Musicians...
I was at this show. I remember standing near that giant dude in the crowd at 2:00. Lol.
4:55 Best band in the lineup - MINISTRY.
You'll never see me cuz i'm always alone!! aaaaaAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!
I missed this one but was there for LOL 1993, Primus and Alice in Chains.
I was 14 and I was there (in Orlando)... I still have T-shirt.
I was on acid. Don’t remember the rain. I remember throwing a Birkenstock at Eddie vedder and ministry killed.
Paul Barker Rules The earth....MINISTRY SOUNDS AWESUM!!!!
ministry. what more could i have needed?
See now it never rains in Vancouver in July anymore, but can't hold big concerts at T-bird cuz friggen artificial turf maybe one day hopefully we will see something similar type festival at Pitt meadows airport???
The rain was terrible, my thick leather biker jacket saved me, was awesome dispite the weather.
Tool was on the side stage
Tool was at Lollapalooza in 1993 I believe.
Gold walking on earth
Looks like Rainapalooza!
Chris Cornel would soon buzz off all his long hair just days later setting off a trend of rock stars chopping it all off.
what does the guy at 2:05 say?
To answer your question. That guy said to the TV interviewer (Terry David Mulligan) "You were great in "Mystery Date". It's a 1991 film starring Ethan Hawke & Teri Polo which Terry had a small acting role as Mr McHugh.
Acid , pot cookies-tix
What Chili Peppers song is that at 5:52?
I could be wrong, but I think it's "Organic Beat Box Band" off the album
"The Uplift Mofo Party Plan"
@@MarkoPolo2196 Okay, thank you!
Ice Cube sucked. They showed clips of the crowd here during his act and most people were sitting on their hands.
This music was fuckin terrible
It just means you have bad taste
