Damn this is a smokin show. As I am from the Southern U.S. I wasn't really into them back then. I was old enough but was just ignorant of them until the later 90's but am so glad I was introduced to them from a friend from Canada who was going to college in New Orleans back in about '96-'97. Damn good band and RIP Gord dammit.

Got to see this tour in Burlington VT. Slightly smaller room than this. We were SO SPOILED. Was my second Hip show and both in a tiny venue. What a time

Amazing! Reminds me of how potent a rock n’ roll band they were. Saw them on their first tour; they had that same energy at that show as well. Thanks for posting!

Great post! Just saw them in Ottawa 18 August on their final tour. First saw them in their 1993 Another Roadside Attraction tour, although had listened to them since a few years earlier, as well as having seen their Henhouse tour. Always a favourite Canadian son. Sending love, luck and courage to Gord and the boys.

My ode to Gordie and the Hip
Those 29 times I saw you , they seem so distant now
From Thunderbird the first time to the last time last year wow
On Seabird Island with my Susie Q , your beard was long , you wore white
At Dicks on Dicks on Richards , we danced the whole night
The three in a row at the Coliseum , I knew I’d be ok
I remember how I snuck in , ha ha , I got away
Under the Rail in Seattle , on the stage I shook deranged,
You took me for a spin that night , I’d never be the same
I got Paul’s set list , Sand Rubies opened up
Diving off the stage , I knew I had fucked up
20 years later when you signed It , giving me such a grin
I collected a few more after that , dam what a win
Your shows were always amazing , I guess that’s why my ears are ringing now
That night at the Commodore Ballroom , the floor bounced up and down
Gord I’ll never forget you , I’ll need a song one day
Long Time Running is the song for me when they put me in my place
What you told us about Canada , my history lessons from liner notes
From Milgaard to Hugh MacLennan to Tom Thomson in a boat
You given me many memories , lots I’ve thought of today
Memories I’ll never forget , I’m sad you’ve gone away
You’ll never be forgotten , I will make sure of that
To Rob , Paul , Johnny , Gord and Gord
I wish you could come back
The Tragically Hip We love you ❤️
    Thanks for everything , Frankie

This show would have been the first time anyone had heard the songs from Fully Completely, which wouldn't be released until that October.

Did you see the video posted from 1989 in London? They played in front of 20 - TWENTY - people. Three years later, this! Wild.

Downie says somewhere between songs something like 'barrie is not a place that you want be'.
I wonder why he said that. 14:08

If I could Jayw wetering......You are missing out on some of their best stuff. Give those newer albums a chance . check out Tiger the lion and escape is at hand for the travelling man and use it up and vapor trails and it cant be nashville every night. Soooo many on all the albums after Hen House which is amazing itself.

This band made music that felt like it spoke directly to me, and each and every one sparked some sort of emotion. But I also didn't wear out any of the cds after Henhouse. Had to buy Road Apples several times because I'd bring it to parties here in the states and once people heard it they had to have it. I understand why they'd want to evolve their sound, but nothing like 90s HIP for this forever fan.
