There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman. Some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me. Only an entity. Something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours, and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.
Gary king
So we've gathered here today, because we're literally us.
Ryan Gosling is us
Wow, this ileiad guy is literally me.
What makes a character a "literally me" is showing the character as a victim in a way.
The overall idea of relating to a character so bad is a way for losers to get rid of their self hate, by rationalizing actoins, and by fetishizing some problems so they get the feeling of a protagonist living a story
interesting, I can kinda see this
Ironically most of these characters only see themselves as victims but if you look into most of them they’re just pricks 😂
@@garyming4362 That's why officer K is the ultimate literally me. Not only is he literally me but he is also a good person.
True. But are they wrong in making their life easier with a movie? I mean, specially when someone have done bad things, it's not like they can just make their live better or less miserable.

In anime, welcome to the NHK is most people's "literally me" you go into the show thinking it'll be a slice of life comedy where you laugh at some loser only to realize the loser was you. Funnily enough it is partially autobiographical to the point where the writer of the original novel cant even read it without getting ill.
just checked it out and it sounds interesting
i'll definitely check it out
I refuse to watch that anime again
@@MrStupidarmy why may I ask?
@@RealistRatRace It's super depressing . And the manga even worse LOL. They doesn't shy about drugs abuse.
@@MrStupidarmy thanks I wasn’t expecting a response. But I can see why you don’t like it as for me I love it since it explore the harsh reality of people. Not everyone wants to be a drug addict or a loser it just happens to them because of life situations and this anime helps me understand that they’re always help out there you just gotta see the light at the end of the tunnel.
literally me is ''broken lonely MEN that don't fit in society so they wanna change the world in some way, so the world fits him or at least do something big to people actually care about him'' that's why people relate, most people can't and never will change anything, but they have the same problems of the character so when they see those characters going thru the same shit and still making something out of it is beautiful. plus music, edting and composition can make anyhing deep and interesting you just gotta have the right artists behind it and Mr robot does this better than anyone.
nobody cares + im literally Ryan Goslin
Christian Bale once said that he liked playing Patrick Bateman because he was fun to make fun of. He said he gets so obsessed over really stupid things and for him, it was entertaining to make a fool of himself.
American Psycho was supposed to be black comedy that makes fun about that kind of lifestyle, but apparently many young men do not get that.

How can you not include K from BR2049 which is literally me. Jokes aside , its a meme and yes some people find some common part with the "alt" character or the sad character, maybe because these characters evoke the same emotions that they want to/already have, or maybe they want to feel distant and different as well from the others. And i dont see the harm in it.
But yeah ranting about it like an idiot IRL totally serious, is cringe. Haven't met anyone that disabled...yet.
Because the BR2049 in my drive is over 5 gigabytes and we already have Ryan Gosling as the Driver. I thought it would be redundant.

are you telling me we're the same person?
Surprising that you didn't mention Fight Club. Same as with 500 days of summer, there are plenty of men loving the movies and relating to the main leads while completely missing the points of both movies
I did add footage of those movies as fillers but I don't feel like making the video over 20 minutes long because, personally, I can't sit through it. The only purpose of this video is to make a parody of The Take's series.
You do realize u can relate to a certain parts of a main character and still get the point of them right?😱

Does an anthropomorphic talking horse count as a literally me character?
Yes
Depends, are you literally an anthropomorphic talking horse?
yes absolutely that's what i was thinking too
The literally me trope is annoying but we all do it whether you're trying to model yourself off a person you met, friend or a movie character we all do it because i think we'd be confused with how to act as ourselves etc.
nah, it's called emulation, it's just a natural psychology response to seeing people you like or understand, though I agree people can take it too far

Good video. I saw someone else describe this kind of character as "the catcher", as in Holden Caulfield from A Catcher in the Rye since he seems to be originator of this trope and the book this kind of story where a "functional failure" snaps or otherwise has a self-justifying epiphany.
people who identify with holden caulfield are literally phonies
These movies should be under educational not hopeless romantic, so these literally mes know what to do. Greetings from Cubao Expo.

An example of a 'literally me' show is: Mr.Robot.
Wow I just realized that Ryan Gosling in drive was literally me. I saw the movie in 2011 in theaters when I was a freshman in high school and i distinctly remember dressing and acting exactly like him at school.

Downloading your personality by watching Ryan Gosling or Mary Elizabeth Winstead doesn't make up for the fact that you're shallow.
Jokes aside, this meme/trope are pretty multi-faceted. I can understand why one would be inspired by or relate to a character who has lived a similar life. However, "becoming" that character in a literal sense shows me that a person is lacking development in one form or another. The best way to grow is to write your own story, not live as a character written by someone else.
ileiad is literally me, venting his thoughts online rather than becoming corrosive and destructive. A real human bing.
Lovely Christopher Walken impression, btw xD
My literally me is Saul Goodman because I’m very extroverted and people don’t hate me but they will never accept me and I will never fit in with them, also Tom Hansen because I’m a piece of shit who listens to The Smiths

I love how you used baybayin at the start of the video.
>MUH BAYBAYIN LE FILIPINO CULTUREEEEEINO

You're literally me, ileiad.
😳
I take this opinion over The Kino Corner about the Literally Me thing, it's simple but direct "You're not special snowflakes anymore." I mean, personality is like bread. You knead it by your experiences, you add flavors to it and you can even set it to rest that dough for a longer time if you will. Hell, even you can bake it on a stove without a pan for some reason. And then, you eat it in many ways - dunking it on milk, tearing it up and eating with jam, making it like a sandwich, etc., etc.
But, again, as long as people keep their narcissism on in this world of the Internet, this kind of genre or trope would be there for a longer time. Or maybe even hoping there's a fucking anti-Literally Me tropes among those movies. The main character is interesting but also aware that he's also the same kind with his personality, that's what we need for now.
The Kino what?
Oh nevermind. How his video has more views in the first week than mine is simply beyond me.

That’s strange, I thought “literally me” characters were just characters who’s motivations or problems were relatable. But I guess when it gets to the point where you try and copy their actions in real life while idolizing them is when you’ve gotten too far in your self delusion

Antonio Salieri is literally me.
I remember thinking that a manic pixie dream girl would be just what I needed, then I got one... It wasn't really that bad but god was it needlessly frustrating to the point I would never do it again.
What do you mean by that?
Manic pixie dreamgirls are characters who's only purpose for existing is to brighten up the life of some frustrated and insecure male character. There's no such thing as manic pixie dreamgirls in real life
