    ASPD is one of the most frustratingly misunderstood disorders especially because of the pop-psychology. There becomes such a focus on the drama, or like you mentioned with the DSM-V's approach, focus on the external actions, that discussions on the core of these dysregulations become buried. Thank you for providing such a clear and digestible analysis. Hopefully more attention can come to you soon! :)

    I have ASPD, I was diagnosed in the Navy. When I was younger, I was misdiagnosed with ADD for misbehaving but I believe it roots for my father being in and out of my life. Growing up in school isolating myself from people.

    I have all of these traits and I know I'm a bad person but many people reassure me that I'm great and I've been blessed with love my entire life. If only people knew. (And believe me it's not like I want to be this way, I'm not exactly a malicious person but I have problems with my emotions and I am very quick to extreme anger and I tend to deflect almost all criticism) This video summed up some of my personality traits so accurately but I think it's good because I feel more educated and self aware and maybe that can help me with improving myself in the future. Thank you for the lesson!

      It absolutely can and I am so proud of you for being willing to recognize and acknowledge your undesirable traits. I always tell people “you gotta put your monsters on a leash” That’s how you become a better person, but you can’t put them on a leash if you refuse to admit that they are there, so you have taken the first step in admitting that there are monsters. You’ve taken a look at them and now you can start putting them on a leash. I’m telling you I used to be a horrible person. I feel like I probably still kind of am but I know that I treat people much better than I used to and I when I recognize those bad thoughts and behaviors coming out I tell myself to put my toys away. I say nope, because I know that, even though I feel justified, it’s going to harm others and that I not entitled to do certain things I feel like doing to others . I’m so proud of you. You stand a chance & the people around you will feel loved by you - you’re not a terrible person .

    I posted on reddit a few days ago about my lack of empathy and lack of emotions and someone mentioned ASPD. I tick 7/8 of the DSM criteria and don't know what to do now. It's not necessary to have ASPD if some of the symptoms matches your personality, there are many more criteria for the diagnosis to be made. If you are having any problem, for proper diagnosis you should visit a professional psychologist or psychiatrist. However, very gald that you atleast opened up about this, and tried to know yourself better. Wish you a best!!!

      because aspd is much less well known than bpd and npd. people aren't psychiatrists and could be misinterpreting their aspd ex as narcisstic. also, a good portion of aspd individuals is homeless or incarcerated.

  • @astrolord4325
    @astrolord4325 3 місяці тому

    Is it really true that aspd is more often seen in men or women? Or is it that the way it is tested can diagnose male better than female?
    I've seen the same with other disorders, where girls just masked better than boys and therefore it was common knowledge that it affects males more than females... Until a study conducted realized that tests were just not fit for both male and female, tests were not as universal as people thought.
