As an art history major, I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to see the utilization of art like this! I’m so tired of seeing Instagramable prints being used left, right, and center. Also, your mom is so talented!
The door to the entryway has just been such an iconic point of focus for this renovation for me - I can remember that first video of you in the house, standing in front of those doors and being amazed by how high the ceilings were. It's so lovely to see how far you've come with it 💕
Your mom's painting was the heart of this pretty makeover. Haven't seen a painting this beautiful for a while that just perfectly complemented a space and made it a thousand times better.
Your balance of humility when learning new skills and "I can do this" attitude is just right for those of us that aren't sure how far our skills will take us. You're proving we can all do it if we want to! Our tastes couldn't be more different (I'm fully a mid-century gal) and yet I learn something new from each video. Thank you.
The entryway looks amazing!! Absolute perfection! As for trying to match the old trim to the new trim, if you feel you have the color down (or close enough) then I would try different top coats. Many of these old stains were shellacked or lacquered and the lacquer was yellow tinted. You might try adding a tint to a lacquer like a couple drops of black or yellow tint. Just enough to "layer" the color so it adds richness and shine at the same time. Ultimately the "aged" look you're going for is just the aging of the lacquer. Same with paintings... If you watch Baumgartner Restorations he talks about how paintings don't have a "patina". They just have top coats that yellowed over time. The same thing happens to old stain. Hope you are able to achieve the look you want!
looks insanely good - and quite inspirational. tip for the door: try inverting the stencil, so the flower arrangement is clear glass but the rest is frosted. once again, amazed how good it all looks.
I love how that gray wall really makes your art wall pop. When I look outside on a cloudy day, nothing makes the gold hills look more brilliant than having the dark, moody sky behind them, and so this makes so much sense to make the colors of your frames and art really stand out, too.
Macennnnaaaa!!! You’re finally there. The decorating moments. This is truly beautiful and I hope you’re proud of yourself. You’ve inspired me so much, I’m a esthetician and for the past 7 months months I’ve been creating my facial room. And your knowledge and love and decision making on the cottage, made me slow down and be picky on what I choose for the room. So much love in my room too 🤎 thank you ! I’m only 23 and have so much love for designing now because if you ! Love you 🤎🤎
19 months in the making!! Your entryway is stunning. When walking in from a hot Texas day, I'm sure this area will have a cooling effect on your guests. Your dear mama's oil painting is gorgeous. I love it when we get to see your long awaited vision coming to fruition. 💚
I absolutely love this area. The wall color is perfection. Cathy’s artwork is beautiful. Your vision for this space came together wonderfully. I’m in awe. I vote for the white doorknob. 🥰
I've been a fan of yours for awhile & usually don't comment. I've watched you grow so much over the last couple yrs. THIS house is becoming a BEAUTIFUL home for you,Romeo & your sweet baby dog. Thank you for taking us along this AMAZING ride. 💜💜
OMG!!! This is by far my favourite makeover so far even though it's such a small space. The talent you and your mum have is insane! I love the white knob for the closet door and now I want to go buy grey/green paint and paint a wall :) Can't wait for the rest of the makeovers!
Frosted glass ideas 1. you could use craft paper and organically make a circle, or oval shape around the design so it's not so sharp. 2. frost the entire piece of glass, cover it in paper, and only spray the design on it in another color. 3. Leave it and put up a curtain with both a top and bottom rod pocket. Then pull it together so it makes an X shape. Brass curtain rods. 4. you could frost it the opposite way that you did, where the only clear parts would be the stencil and the rest would be frosted. But that would require a new piece of glass.
I'm actually sitting here in tears watching this (I know I'm weird). But for you to take on such a massive project and it turns out beautiful in each task is amazing. Thank you so much for making Sunday something to look forward to. Keep chipping away.
I have to remind myself that you are a young designer, because you have a vision of an old soul. You're ability to bring vintage design to life is magical! 💥🪄☺️
MaCennaaaaaa!! I had no idea that the surprise makeover was the entryway but Woah it's so gorgeous! I totally relate to needing to tackle a smaller project to continue your momentum. You did so good :)
The entryway is so beautiful! Dark wax, the kind people use for chalk paint projects to add that aged antique look, will deepen the raw stain just slightly and leave it with a lovely hand rubbed finish that could be missing from a newly stained piece.
I love the vintage door knobs! I have a collection of them for my "dream house." I would go for the brass/bronze with the white a close second. Everything looks absolutely beautiful! You and your lovely mom are both very talented!
Every time you finish a room, it makes me so emotional because I know you (and Romeo) worked SO HARD to finally get to that moment. You are so talented and driven. You have been an inspiration to me to do things myself. Ive been a subscriber for years and it’s been a joy to see everything come full circle for you.
LOVE the entryway!! It is stunning!! The wall color... the frosted glass on the door... your Momma's painting... all came together so perfectly!!! 😍The white knob would be my first choice, the brass one would be my second. The black knob just looks out of place there.
White Knob... to go with the frosted glass, the wall, inside closet & lamp. That color on the wall... turned out the opposite of my first thought. What a view from the door! Momma... perfection! Romeo always good to see you!
When you are done decorating each room and the outside you should have a thank you party to all the people who were part of this journey. I think it would be great for the guys to see your vision in it’s finality.
I am absolutely in love with your design. It amazes me how you’re able to curate spaces with so many different little elements from 50 different places and make them look so cohesive and complementary.
Absolutely love this! I really like the oatmeal colored door knob on the closet door. It brings out the white/off white from the art and compliments the milk glass globe on the light.
Hey! Recently I was trying to find a match for my 1950s stained interior doors which are a similar color to your trim! Someone suggested minwax gunstock stain or an ambered shellac. Could be worth exploring for you as well!! I’m sure this isn’t a new problem for the home restoration industry/community. Perhaps, if there’s a local historical society or anyone local who has restored a home they also may have other resources! Don’t be afraid to contact experts, they love helping people! This is beautifully done, you’ve got me wanting to redecorate my whole house!
The colour choice was amazing. I don’t think any other colour would suit better. The whole thinking of putting your mom’s art in that area is brilliant. Your mom’s art work is fantastic! She should have an art gallery. People will love her art as much as I do.
Stunning!!! I like the oatmeal or gold knob. That painting is so beautiful. Artistic talent oozes from the both of you. As always, I really enjoyed this vlog.
For anyone hanging photos or paintings/prints on a wall I saw a great tip. Get command strip picture Velcro and add one to the bottom back of each frame. It will keep all your frames from shifting and moving. Plus it’s safe for walls and easy to remove when you need to!
This is probably the best entry way I have ever seen. I'm in love with everything 💗. The colour is amazing and your mum's painting is outstanding. Excellent choice of decor pieces as well!
It awes me how you are so capable and brave doing all of the hard and dirty work but then are so delicate and have such a good eye for beautiful things. This is truly a talent I hope you give yourself enough credit for this!!🌟
As a little girl I watched my grandpa make furniture in his workshop in awe. Last week watching your video I had this epiphany that I could make furniture if that's what I wanted to do. I don't just have to watch. Thank you for being so inspiring MaCenna!
Wow, love this transformation! Thumbs up for the white door knob :) Not a big fan though of the white stenciled thing. I would prefer flutet glass for the closet door, it would look more sophisticated and you can’t see through it as much.
Same. All the other parts of the make over have an extreme atention to detail, but the glass looks tooo much like a diy, in the top part you can see the marks ot the spray
Love the romantic feeling with the paint color and the beautiful floral painting. The additional gallery wall is what ties it all together! Perfect! I’m thinking the brass knob to accent the brass art light but I’m sure whatever you choose will look amazing!
You hit it out of the park in this entry! The warm vintage vibe is so well supported by the original wood tones and the collection of art! Your Mom is so talented and her art is the perfect compliment to the wall colour!
It is simple in the most beautiful way. Love it. The door turned out absolutely gorgeous and I believe the white door knob would be the perfect match. Last but not least OMG your mom’s talent to paint has me going crazy next to your creative way of putting things together. You do not cease to amaze me.
Wow. You get it from your mama! Both talented women!!!! I loved this entry way. I’m so happy you’re finally in the decorating stage. It’s been so fun to watch. 2 things- the stencil looks a bit unfinished. Maybe spray another coat on the boarder? And next, I vote for the white knob. Whatever you touch is amazing! Thanks again for taking us on this ride with you!!!!!
Hi! First of all, I love it! I didn’t know how to feel when you picked a grey with that wood tone right there but it works so well! The art *chefs kiss*. The table from your mum *chefs kiss* With the door to the closet I like the white milky knob. I think it ties everything together so nicely. I don’t love the etched glass though I’m sorryyyyy. Everything in your house is finished to absolute perfection and the glass looks diy and uneven. I so look forward to your videos through the week 😘
Millstone Grey would be perfect, IMHO! It's a great colour, perfect shade in all lighting for that space. And the white doorknob is the best accent in that corner. *chef's kiss*
MACENNA .... I love how you transform each room with your "Magic Wand".... and turn them into not only aesthetically beautiful, but with welcoming warmth with it .... feeling all the LOVE that is poured into it!
I love love love this dark color and the way it feels. It really does feel inviting when you walk in. And your moms art is so gorgeous. I would do the oatmeal doorknob with a brass backplate to tie into the lamp and the walls.
I love you mother’s artwork! And that was definitely the right choice for the paint color, it looks amazing with the warmth of the original wood door frames. I vote for the white doorknob, even though I’m a sucker for brass, because of the need for the softness it brings just like the lamp
Videos like this make me want to cry, because like many people here I’ve been here since the beginning when you were back in California doing DIY’s with Drew, it’s amazing to see how far you and your design has really come Macenna it’s truly amazing to watch! Much ❤️
You are basically a contractor at this point! I was watching this video on the couch and my husband overheard that you were building your own window casing for over the door and he was floored! You are the epitome of self taught girl boss!
Macenna, I am at a loss for words! This entry way makeover is absolutely STUNNING!!! Your mom’s painting is beautiful! I’ve been with you guy’s from the beginning, & have enjoyed every step of the way of your cottage transformation. This was honestly one of my most favorite videos. You NEVER cease to amaze me. Lol. Much love & big hugs from Southeast Texas! ❤️😘
Oh my god!! So beautiful!! Everything about the makeover is simply beautiful…but your mom’s original oil painting IS THE SHOW STOPPER!! Stunning!! ❤️❤️❤️
Don't mind me just getting choked up over how much you appreciated Romeo telling you the gallery wall looked really nice! So loving this series and watching everything come together so beautifully!
The painting and table from your mom are gorgeous! They, along with the other artwork, look great against the dark and moody paint color. I like the pop of the white door knob. Stain is so tricky isn't it?! It is coming along so beautifully so far!
MaCenna, this is absolutely gorgeous!!! Each room has it’s own mood and life, you are so very talented! Your mom is such a talented artist, one day I’m going to get one of her prints!
Beautiful MaCenna! Love your mom’s painting, what a priceless memory to hold close forever. That wall is stunning and yes, I’d go with the white door knob! I’m loving these transformations!!
MaCenna!!! What you’ve done with the hallway entrance is so beautiful, I LOVE the oil painting your Mom custom painted for you. The whole thing is just gorgeous. I would do the white doorknob. That one in my opinion looks best!
Why did this almost bring me to tears. Its just stunning!! Watching you transform a space, and your creative thought process, is truly magical 🥰 (I vote oatmeal doorknob!)
I love every little detail! From colour to decoration! The door is so perfect with the frosted glass! Your mum's painting is so beautiful piece of art! Stunning!!!😍😍
It's very soothing to watch how you put things together . ❤️ I love everything about it! I think you are right about the white knob. It compliments and ties your beautiful masterpiece of a hallway.
It’s so perfect, I’ve always loved vintage style, you can always imagine a story in each piece. Macenna, you are doing such an amazing job in your home, can’t wait to see more of your creativity 👏🏻😍
Binge watching your videos. We’re currently making improvements on a 90 year old home. No one can prepare you or your relationship for the stress of a remodel! You are so impressive and I’m learning a ton!!!
Your Mom is so talented, I absolutely love that painting she did for you! Me and my hubby rather spend Christmas, birthday and anniversary money on art and over years we've collected a lot of paintings xx
My first impression of the 'after' is that I'm in love with the wavy glass! Color choices were perfect. The artwork and painting is fabulous. Great job on the frosted glass. Every thing you do turns out so amazing! You are truly doing what you are best at. Can't wait until the next one! Don't make us wait too long!
oh my, this is GORGEOUS!! this tiny corner of the entryway might be my favourite part of this reno so far -- and that's saying something because I love it all!! So well done, you really had a vision and pulled it off!!
Oh wow MaCenna, this is my favorite so far. That color with your moms beautiful painting is so stunning. I love the door too. I am so impressed at all of your woodworking skills. Simply amazing. Your mom is so talented too!
As soon as I saw Milstone Gray I was like that is the color and so glad you were also thinking the same and in live with the oatmeal ceramic door knob as it is a good compliment to your stain windo, back closet color and the color from your paintings. Also in love with the frames and the art work done by your mom
Wow, wow, wow!! Talk about a fabulous return for all your work…this entryway has all the feels. Everything is perfect, from color palette to final styling. Your mom’s artwork is the cherry on top! I love the oatmeal/white doorknob, btw.
I can't believe we are already here! This is so beautiful and everything feels so purposeful... it's lovely. Also, the talent that your mom has 🙌 What a special thing to have her art welcoming whoever enters your home 🥰
It looks beautiful MaCenna! Love the moody colours. Edit: Oh and the art is just wonderful, such a good choice to do a gallery wall. The painting from your mom looks simply stunning. Love it!
Absolutely stunning!! I have had my entryway half done since March and this is exactly what I was going for! I am so inspired to finish it! I would say go for the white knob Also your mom is crazy talented! I love her works!
I love the styling! The color of the wall matches the oil painting so well! Tip: my local Sherwin store can match stain if you bring in a sample and a raw wood piece. They do it by hand but there's a color specialist.
Macenna I already texted got but this is FREAKING GORGEOUS!! The color choice, art work, videography…. ALL OF IT! All the original wood as well 😍
😍
You two are the absolute best.
Cant wait to see ur "casa" being renovated.
I call it that way cause it has spanish/italian vibes for me
I hope once her house is done you could visit so as Macenna to yours. ❤️
Do a collab! 🤩
MaCenna has transcended "DIY" into being a self taught full on carpenter
Truth 👐
Right? Remember the "I don't know how to use power tools" years? I love watching the growth!!!
Omg seriously. She is hella - impressive!
As an art history major, I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to see the utilization of art like this! I’m so tired of seeing Instagramable prints being used left, right, and center. Also, your mom is so talented!
Amen. I love the grand art of our history with the incredible frames
Too bad we don’t all have an amazing artist as a mom who can paint pieces for us like this 😭😩.
Does she have a link to her art I would love to purchase some prints
@@sylviebarker8505 just buy her prints or if you are lucky enough to be the first in line you could get an original.
The door to the entryway has just been such an iconic point of focus for this renovation for me - I can remember that first video of you in the house, standing in front of those doors and being amazed by how high the ceilings were. It's so lovely to see how far you've come with it 💕
Same!!!!! I loved it so much!!! Thank youuu
Always have loved those doors, loving this vlog!!
So true, love the way she decided to use these at wall and complete the overall look.
Your mom's painting was the heart of this pretty makeover. Haven't seen a painting this beautiful for a while that just perfectly complemented a space and made it a thousand times better.
i completely agreeeee!!
My heart skipped a beat when Romeo said he said it’s “looking really nice” and your reaction was “you really think so?” 🥹
Love y’all’s love 😭💕💕💕
Your balance of humility when learning new skills and "I can do this" attitude is just right for those of us that aren't sure how far our skills will take us. You're proving we can all do it if we want to! Our tastes couldn't be more different (I'm fully a mid-century gal) and yet I learn something new from each video. Thank you.
couldn't have said it better
It's official, I will never be able to pick a favourite room in this house. Everything you've done so far is just gorgeous. I'm obsessed!
The painting that your mom did is stunning!! the whole project is perfect!
That's true. The piece of art is just amazing.
The entryway looks amazing!! Absolute perfection! As for trying to match the old trim to the new trim, if you feel you have the color down (or close enough) then I would try different top coats. Brilliant idea !!
Perfect observation. I think it's written "patina", at least here in my language (Portuguese).
It's "patina" but yes.
@@Qrtuop I had patina and it didn't look right for some reason so I switched it. Should have gone with my first Instinct.
I mentioned this on her last video. The poly or liquor is definitely yellow and she hasn't taken that into consideration yet.
I love the contrast between the “orangey” warm trim with the green gray walls. It goes so well together in my opinion
looks insanely good - and quite inspirational. tip for the door: try inverting the stencil, so the flower arrangement is clear glass but the rest is frosted. once again, amazed how good it all looks.
I love how that gray wall really makes your art wall pop. When I look outside on a cloudy day, nothing makes the gold hills look more brilliant than having the dark, moody sky behind them, and so this makes so much sense to make the colors of your frames and art really stand out, too.

I’m in awe of you.

I absolutely love this area. The wall color is perfection. Cathy’s artwork is beautiful. Your vision for this space came together wonderfully. I’m in awe. I vote for the white doorknob. 🥰
Tell your mom to make a UA-cam so we can all learn to paint like her! Her art is beautiful as always
Also, 100% the white doorknob
I've been a fan of yours for awhile & usually don't comment. I've watched you grow so much over the last couple yrs. THIS house is becoming a BEAUTIFUL home for you,Romeo & your sweet baby dog. Thank you for taking us along this AMAZING ride. 💜💜

Beautiful Mc Cenna and Romeo…absolutely BEAUTIFUL!…and “Momma”, the art you made for your daughter is SPLENDIDLY GORGEOUS!!!!!

Agree. Annie Sloan sells several wax options.
oooo i have to try that!! thank you so much!

White Knob... to go with the frosted glass, the wall, inside closet & lamp.
That color on the wall... turned out the opposite of my first thought. What a view from the door!
Momma... perfection!
Romeo always good to see you!
i would’ve picked that paint color too!! perfect complement to the rich wood there. can’t wait to watch you transform the rest of your spaces ♥️

YESSSS!! Maybe Drew can fly in too!
White for the door knob. Also that entryway transformation is beyond words.
Oatmeal doorknob!
This entry is beautiful. Love the color. Love the ART!! Love the glass DIY!
The amber shelac is a good thought. I know back in that day they didn't use the type of stains we use today, but spray on shellac I think.
The colour choice was amazing. I don’t think any other colour would suit better. The whole thinking of putting your mom’s art in that area is brilliant. Your mom’s art work is fantastic! She should have an art gallery. People will love her art as much as I do.
Can we please have a fun hang out painting/diy tutorial with your mom?? 💕

Yes, fluted glass (maybe colored) or stained glass would fit the space better. The white is too stark.
I don't dislike it but when you said fluted, my eyes lit up lol. That would be so beautiful.
Love the romantic feeling with the paint color and the beautiful floral painting. The additional gallery wall is what ties it all together! Perfect! I’m thinking the brass knob to accent the brass art light but I’m sure whatever you choose will look amazing!
Love how the position of the lamp works with the lighting of the painting! Makes it look so dimensional!
You hit it out of the park in this entry! The warm vintage vibe is so well supported by the original wood tones and the collection of art! Your Mom is so talented and her art is the perfect compliment to the wall colour!
MaCenna, MaCenna, MaCenna… You have me rethinking my entire design esthetic. This is STUNNING!! 😍😍🤍
The idea is fantastic to create a vibe of vintage aesthetics and make a welcoming environment. Just loved it! 😍😍
It is simple in the most beautiful way. Love it. The door turned out absolutely gorgeous and I believe the white door knob would be the perfect match. Last but not least OMG your mom’s talent to paint has me going crazy next to your creative way of putting things together. You do not cease to amaze me.
That art wall is everything and that's the most beautiful table lamp I've ever seen!! 😍😍😍 I'd go for the antique brass knob 😊
The picture you mom painted is AMAZING!
Wow, amazing. Once it all came together…the frosted glass on the door is like a color-bled reflection of your mom’s painting! Stunning! 🥰
This is better than any TV SHOW. Everything is detailed.
This hallway gave me chills! It is so beautiful, it serves all the library/art museum vibes!
Hi! First of all, I love it! I didn’t know how to feel when you picked a grey with that wood tone right there but it works so well! The art *chefs kiss*.
The table from your mum *chefs kiss*
With the door to the closet I like the white milky knob.
By the way ... I vote for the milky ceramic doorknob!
My Grandmother had glass door knobs that looked like diamonds...to me as a kid. You are doing a great job on restoring this old beauty of a house.
Watching the whole video and then getting to the end truly brought tears to my eyes. What a grogeous space.
Lol. The painting and table from your mom are gorgeous! They, along with the other artwork, look great against the dark and moody paint color. I like the pop of the white door knob. Stain is so tricky isn't it?! It is coming along so beautifully so far!

The original wavy glass panes in the windows make me so happy!! thank you so much!!
Def the speckled oatmeal knob. So lovely. That paint color is gorgeous & bless your Momma's hands for that stunning lifelike artwork.
oh my, this is GORGEOUS!! this tiny corner of the entryway might be my favourite part of this reno so far -- and that's saying something because I love it all!!
Macenna it’s so beautiful I almost cried 😊 your mums art is perfect there
It looks beautiful MaCenna!
I would say go for the white knob
Also your mom is crazy talented! I love her works!
You made me smile watching your videos knowing this grand lady (the home) is living again!❤
I love the styling! The color of the wall matches the oil painting so well! Tip: my local Sherwin store can match stain if you bring in a sample and a raw wood piece. They do it by hand but there's a color specialist.
