If only people would quit eating animals, we wouldn't have so much agriculture on this planet avg. 56 billion land animals get killed a year for consumption. It takes alot of water grain and corn to feed a cow for 3 years before slaughter

Started looking at dr. Bugbee vids over a year ago. He really knows science of plants and I continue to watch his. Doing this for awhile however I’ve learned some things as well in the 30+ years and sometimes I have done different things and probably still will, but make no doubt he knows his trade. I’m so glad he got rid of the myth of flushing, myth of darkness and myth of aspects of uvb and uva. This was your best interview to date Chris and thanks for the unusually pleasant and hard to find adult interview without all the typical immature stuff that is rampant on UA-cam, excellent interview!

Interesting podcast. After watching your more recent video on flushing, we learned that Plants have a 2 week energy store that they can use, so there is really no need to fertilise for the last 2 weeks of the grow (saving money on nutes if nothing else). In light of this I am wondering how accurate his prediction that a period of 48 hours darkness before harvest would nor increase secondary metabolites because there is no sugar to use. Clearly there is sugar that could be used as the plant does not use all it's stores in a single day. Maybe stressing the plant in this way (darkness) would indeed increase secondary metabolites.

If my plants are recieving the proper PPFD but are lacking DLI, it makes sense to slightly increase light time and test. Let's say during veg I'm using 450 PPFD but DLI is only 27 (heard proper range is between 30-40). I could increase light time to 18.5 or 19 hours per day to increase DLI. In flower the DLI is lower because of the shorter day but is made for in increased PPFD. When the lights come on tonight I'll be checking DLI.

I'd love to ask more about the drying and curing mentioned at around 45:00 - Dr Bugbee said he considers drying to be the first 24h, curing to typically only last about 2 weeks maximum. This seems contrary to most of what I have read and what I practice myself. Usually I shoot for a "long slow dry" at 60%rh/60°f for about two weeks, and then I consider them dry and move on to curing in jars. I wonder if Dr. Bugbee means to say they keep a lower humidity the first 24h and then go to something like 60/60 once the water content of the buds reaches around that 0.6 metric he mentioned. Great podcast and I love listening to this guest, but I'd love to pick his brain on more details regarding this section!

This video has opened my mind. I very much like Dr. Bruce Bugbee.
Although this video is great for everyone, however, I feel like only today after a few years planting i can fully appreciate and deeply understand this.
I love how it targets and answers common growers "techniques" and the truth behind it.
Specially when he speaks about lighting.WISH IT HAD MORE IN LIGHTING!!!!
    He is amazing on this!
Anyways amazing video. Look forward to more like it.

Wow! What a great educator. His genuine enthusiasm for the subject is a great gift for someone who hopes and I imagine succeeds at inspiring his students. His in depth explanations are accomplished to just the right level for this brief discussion. Like he says, more information is available, but I assume that would be a one subject lecture of considerable length or up to degree level commitment. What a treat this was with a great broad range of subjects. Good on ya.

I've thought about his comment on 48-72 hour darkness. I noticed while doing reveg for strains that I forgot to clone prior to flower and I just thought to my self that when given 24 hours of light to reveg the buds get extreme color and tricomes. ( I will try giving my plants 24 hrs of light on the last day instead) Enjoyed this today. Thanks Mr. Growit and Dr. Bugbee!

definitely agree on controlled stress . i found bending and kinking stems does zero damage to the plant but puts it in repair mode , and ive noticed alot of triggers , temp. humidity . light etc .

This video needs more likes. Finally science, not superstitious opinion. The entire grow industry as far as general information is littered with some of the most ridiculous superstitions that aren't backed by anything other than "it worked for me". When half of these "growers" don't realize they're stunting their plants with bad habits passed down by growers who grew strains that don't exist or are even grown anymore.
