    Nothing would disappoint me more than the witness fight being "a typical" boss fight. Imagine killing the Ultimate final big boss of the entire franchise by stacking in a well and spamming rockets

      I agree , but i dont want the witness to be beaten by “mechanics” like bosses who are only damaged by mechanics like D1 Oryx, 2nd Enc grasp. Because then it might as well not be us beating the witness i think there needs to be a mix

      I don't think we're going to "kill" the Witness. I think we'll stop the Witness from enacting the Final Shale but the Witness will live on. Maybe we dismantle the Witness back into the race they came from, maybe we just send the Witness back to it's home solar system, whatever, but I don't think we'll kill it.

    I know they hired Keith David for TFS but I am wondering on what capacity they hired him if he is like a permanent voice replacement or just staying around a bit to voice Zavala so they can write him out somehow sort of similar to how Nolan North had voiced Cayde before they killed him off in Forsaken.

    • @kajus
      @kajus 5 місяців тому +18

      My best guess is exactly like you described with North voicing Cayde. Any new things Zavala says in the story will be KD lines. All the existing stuff Zavala has already said will remain as Lance's lines.

      We need to normalize recasting upon an actors death. Not recasting or altering the plot because of an untimely death ruins the work the actors that passed worked hard to do.

    • @claytonmitchell5685
      @claytonmitchell5685 5 місяців тому +41

      I think Zavala is here to stay. Nolan North was asked to play Cayde because they knew he could do it, and it was easy because he was already there for Ghost voice lines. Going through the process of hiring a high profile replacement for Lance does not scream “we are going to immediately kill this character off” to me

    • @JeighNeither
      @JeighNeither 5 місяців тому +3

      Even if he is going to die in the finale, they would still need to hire a voice actor, possibly to cover any lines not previously recorded, but mostly because if they didn't replace him, the community would know he's going to be killed off in the finale. I think he's getting the axe personally, but I appear to be in the minority.

    One approach I could see Bungie taking to the sheer amount of content available is modular installs, which I think steam and some other launchers support. After it hits master difficulty after the 4 rounds you can keep going but it’ll increase by 1-2 levels but if u complete the rounds u keep getting those high rare materials until eventually u run out of revives because of how hard the difficulty will eventually become.

    • @R0r7va5tor
      @R0r7va5tor 5 місяців тому +1

      Something that would bring me back to destiny pretty quickly would be a system similar to guild wars 2’s legendary armor. Add a new tier of armor above legendary that has the same general stat spread, but you can customize the stat distribution on a whim (when not in a locked activity). Make it only accessible through a quest chain tied to endgame activities (raids, dungeons, gm’s for pve, trials and/or ranked for pvp), and make it long and expensive. Time-gated even, to give it some prestige. Make it look really cool, potentially with some glows or halos or effect depending on subclass attunement. This way it would give folks who already have “perfect” armor sets something to grind for, and once they have it they don’t need several different sets for different builds. Wouldn’t fix all the games issues, but it would give the hardcore folks something to chase for a while.

    I thought about it for a bit but I think the issue with seasonal fatigue came from the single "main quest" focus philosophy. Imagine if every season there were multiple side stories being told alongside the main seasonal story from different vendors. Each season could've launched with the full main quest (no time gates) and maybe 1 side quest with 2-3 more shorter sidequest stories being time-gated releases rather than what we got which was a single main quest with the same repeated quest steps being released each week via timegate.
    Imagine during season of the Seraph while we had the main quest with Rasputin, there was also a completely seperate side quest with it's own dialogue and story for Failsafe on Nessus that culminated in a unique Failsafe themed ship/shell/sparrow. A couple missions and little side adventure about Failsafe asking for your help trying to find/make an exo body suitable for her split personality AI. Now imagine if they made similar use of all the other vendors throughout the game that are sitting doing basically nothing; Devrim, Ikora, Ada, Variks, Elsie, etc.
    As long as they weren't an important character to that season's main story, there was room for a completely self contained quest and story that could have their own unique missions, strikes, objectives, rewards, etc. that could persist each season until the next expansion after which, they would go into the abandoned quest kiosk for people who missed out when they were initially available.
    It would serve as a nice middleground between mindlessly doing completely inconsequential strikes and doing the seasonal main quest mission. A sidequest with a bit more investment and nice little unique rewards at the end. Would resolve the complaint about the main story being timegated since there would still be something they could still timegate to get players to come back and experience week after week even if they timegated a twist reveal of the finale of the main quest. If the episodic model is anything like this, I'd have some hope at least.

    I would love to see armor origin traits. And they would probably be very small benefits, which are enhanced by having a set of 4 with a little bump. Like an armor set that gives a 1% damage buff from each piece, and if you have 4, you get an extra 1 or 2%.
    They could also play with mod cost, like if it was cheaper to use reserves mod from armor discovered in free roam.
    Its a shame since the seasonal artifact effects would make great set bonuses for armor, mostly those in tier 1 to 3.

    • @Klodhvig

      I would prefer it to be more included in your subclass.

      I know you used damage increase as just an example but I hate the trend of looters where a thing gives you 1% or 3% boost to whatever like in Marvels Avengers or The Division or even Diablo sometimes. It just turns the game into a numbers simulator where people are running for just a 2% increase. However if the set bonus does a unique effect or something cool if you do a thing then I could see it being popular. Just me tho

    • @McDoodPedro
      @McDoodPedro 5 місяців тому

      @McDoodPedro 5 місяців тому +1

      @@foliagedcloud8096 Totally agree. In my mind, I was kinda thinking about like a less extreme version of terraria set bonus, where the individual items provide those flat, minimal, passive benefits and the set bonus provides more interesting ideas. Like an armor set that decreases how much knockback you get from stomp attacks and phalanx shields would be cool and something at least worth playing with, while not being just big number go up.

      I'd like them to do set bonuses of some kind. But to try and keep the players balanced it would all be legendary gear. So the idea is sacrifice an exotic armor piece for a possibility better set bonus instead. The bonuses could even be broad enough to effect multiple subclasses or pump the effect up some but it's only for one subclass. That would be cool

    • @xNeoNxCyaN
      @xNeoNxCyaN 5 місяців тому

      @@vantheunemployed503I think the easiest way to balance it would be to have each set have a max of 3 pieces, so exotic helmet plus arms, legs, chest, you could have pulse damage +10%, grenade cooldown +20% ( bungie should also increase the cooldown of abilities to compensate for this and encourage people to use the set bonuses) and then the 3rd could be some sort of a subclass specific bonus, or like some sort of free armour mod (something like a surge mod, or a scavenger mod that stacks beyond the max that armour mods can go)

Not all of them were created equal, of course! It was their first and only experiment with such a thing but they removed any trace of them and their bonuses completely from the game at this point.

    When you mentioned armor, it immediately took me to Monster Hunter. Each set has its own resistance spread, and specific skills tied to it, with a set bonus in MH World. I think where you get the armor should matter for the activity you plan on playing. If you want casual play, maybe low stakes activities, then get the lower difficulty sets, higher difficulty activities yield higher tier rewards. I think mods should work like the decoration system; a strictly limited amount of slots for a multitude of less specific abilities, i.e., reload, scav, targeting, ammo, and the like.

    Sigh. I don’t know. I play some complex games and stuff but the thing that was cool about Destiny 1 was, your build was a combination of the subclass choices, the exotics you chose and the perks on your armor.
    Now it’s just, like, a lot of additional details to achieve the same thing and that cool factor has dropped for me. The game feels easy because abilities compared to D1 are way overtuned.
    Remnant is a little like D1, and I just enjoy build crafting there more because it’s really flexible. Destiny doesn’t feel flexible anymore. Before the loadout system existed to make a lot of small changes one button, but even so, sometimes I make an error, forget to fix it, equip a loadout and have to remember to save, I don’t, and I just have an error’d loadout unless I remember.

    I feel like some of these things are going to be very likely for D2 moving forward:
    Xivu, Fikrul and (some) of the Vex will get conclusions through these next 3 episodes. My reason why is because of the colors and pictures present on each of the pictures.
    The first one has red (like the vex eyes which are their most prominent feature) and has an osiris-ish/vex head character on the cover.
    The next one has dark blue, like corrupted ether, and (if my memory is right) Fikrul/scorn on the cover.
    The last one is green, the only green enemies being Hive so that could be the end of the light and dark saga with us killing Xivu.
    After that, they could just continue and add more locations to the game and make the story about something else (The Aphelion, the IX or something completely new). And that could be their selling point for D3.
    Even though I don't want a D3, it would make sense, they could add new locations for this new story without filling up the screen even more than it already is and they could attract new players with a new game.
    If they do that, hopefully they don't fumble it like D1 and D2 launch. I also think that would come way after Marathon.

    Just to add my piece to the "if you don't know what you're doing you get crushed but" I had been trying for MONTHS to solo Spire of The Watcher, not flawless, just solo without leaving. At least ten separate 7 hour persys sessions on sunbracer warlock (not the infinite resto build) and couldn't get it. Over winter break looked up the infinite resto build for sunbracers, switched literally TWO of the fragments I had to emperyian and solace, and soloed spire in about 90 minutes, came back the next morning and solo flawlessed first try. 2 fragments, and a slight change to the gameplay loop took me from stuck on one boss for months to solo flawlesser. I was never in the crowd of "Bungie needs to change this too hard!" But I also felt like I was very skilled and surely should have finished it by then. Builds turn great players into gods.
    What I am getting at is what you are referring to is very, very real. So next time you bump into someone with a wacky build that is slaying out but struggling in high end stuff, help em out. It will keep them coming back and enjoying the game, and they will prolly pay it forward.

    For the "making weapons and armor matter" thing, I think an easy way to do it is lock perks behind obtaining random drops. Basically you have to get a drop with specific perks to be able to craft weapons with those perks. Same idea with armor.
    Now, super casual players probably wouldn't like that, but I think it'd still be pretty fair overall.

    The problem he addresses at around 5:49 is a problem that too many fanbases cause for too many franchises, because once people find something negative to latch on to, it gives them relief of believing that they don't have to go through the effort of trying it themselves, because they believe they already know how it will turn out. I've had friends who have never played a game I enjoy that it is a bad game even though they have never played it themselves, that a show is a bad show even though they have never watched it themselves, that a book is a bad book even though they have never read it themselves. Because that negativity spreads outwards from the community and to those who have never experienced what the community has experienced. And it's the same reason as to why games like Lethal Company have had sales and playerbases skyrocket in quantity and size, because so much positive feedback came from them so quickly that it spread like a sort of reverse disease.

    On the concept of The Coil, the Rogue-Like aspects... I have said forever (since like beyond light) that they should bring back CoO Infinite Forrest as a Coil like Rogue-Like mode but much more expanded. Since we have Trials of Osiris for PvP, we can then have Trials of the Forrest for PvE.
    As for a PvEvP mode, gambit has been stagnant and i would much rather have a almost Strike like mode where its 2 or three teams of 3-4 so its at max 9-12 players matchmade into teams to run objs side by side to hinder each other as they go along, almost Menagerie style objectives, but progress is hindered by other teams and you hinder them by completing special objectives as you go. Reward players for being speedy but also skillful so lowest time and best kill ratios and getting more precision kills will net you better score overall.
    One thing i have wanted for ages as well is an extra character slot for a legit Hardcore character, like permadeath, and they have their own separate but smaller vault. make it have exclusive rewards for milestones.

    On the loot note, I think they could add Armor Sets, similar to how seasonal armor is, but instead make it actually useful, like foundry perks but with a stronger identity.
    For guns, they just need to continue to make innovative perks, put them on a rotation schedule, and if they add things like additional enemy types, then different perks would be more useful in specific situations, instead of just more damage = better

    After Episodes, i think the best option for Bungie is to add all of the older content that does not interfere or overlap each other (minus event specific) and simply balance the game going forward. This could be manageable even with the reduced staff. There has been enough content added for multiple games. If they take their attention away from adding new content, they can focus on improving the game as it is. Also love the new channel. I believe most people that are drawn to your Content is your personally, not necessarily your Destiny proficiency. And my favorite videos of your are the Golf it and TTT where your personality can shine.

    Activities should be fun intrinsically, and the extrinsic reward of loot should only be an added bonus. If activities are fun, RNG loot will be fun to chase; if activities are tedious, RNG loot will actually make it worse.
    Red borders are a way to bypass the tedium of grinding for weapons in an activity you don't enjoy. I personally am thankful for a system that allows me to minimize the amount of time I have to spend grinding for weapons to bring into a more enjoyable activity.

    The thing Bungie can do to get people to chase armor is change or modify the stat categories themselves. Just like they did with Resilience. Nobody had any armor build that spec’d heavily into Resilience. After the announcement, overnight everyone was chasing armor pieces with 20+ Resilience. All builds across all classes and subclasses is literally Recovery, Resilience and Discipline with maybe Hunters swapping one of those three with Mobility. Yes, I know there are some decent builds that revolve around melee (Strength) but for 90% of the game it is those three stats. Bungie should make Intellect and Mobility worthwhile so we all have to go back out and grind for 20+ Intellect and Mobility armor.
    Go use D2 armor picker and try to make a build that has 100 Intellect and 100 Mobility and 100 of another stat with an already existing build of yours. Can you? Now what if I told you 100 Mobility now doubles your sprint speed and makes it harder for enemies to target you on the move? Also, 100 Intellect triples your super regen rate in PvE and increases the damage of your super? Could you? Don’t cheat and uses shitty fragments that do not work at all and only serve to give you stat boosts.
    No longer would I see a high intellect or mobility armor piece and automatically dismantle it. This would bring back armor chase. Armor would matter again. At least for a good amount of time until we are back where are now, but that would take a while.

    It sounds dumb but a solution to wanting to farm for new armor would have to be implementing d1 and early d2s' system of giving random rolled perks again. They are atm just rolling for your cds and mob/recov/armor. I personally have too many armor pieces just for different stat distributions for pve and mostly pvp where if it was more in line to the system D1 had I would be looking for pieces to lower my cd's, have perks that affect the weapon that I'm using (reload/handling/ammo etc.). I remember a big W for me was getting my tier 12 on my go to pvp armor pieces with perk rolls I wanted (for those who don't know or did not play D1, there was only intellect, discipline, and strength on armor and there was 5 tiers on each stat for lowering your cd and to fully optimize your cd you could get 12 out of 15 (you really didnt need it but being big into pvp a little bit lower cd on my melee was good)).
    The new system is nice to have loadouts at the ready but tbh the old loadout was just switching your weapons, exotics and maybe legs/chest for ammo. The perk system now is just taking advantage of having a setup for ad clear then swapping to a dps setup before the dps phase and if you're speed or solo running swapping mid dps lol
    Also make raid perks have more impact in their respective raid (dungeons too maybe).
    Personally my biggest issue atm with armor is I have loadouts with certain stat distributions and the armor pieces also are tied to my loadouts and I'm not gonna make multiple duplicates of loadouts specifically for a raid with all its armor pieces with meh perks that mess up my stats plus take away slots for perks that affect the build I'm using
    side note fragments being used as micro balancing by messing with your stats sucks for stat optimizing while trying to cut back the amount of armor you have. I know way in the minority on that one but it kills me

    I think the solution to unintetesting loot is to add farmable mods (kind of like the old system). Keep the current mods for new players to dabble in and get used to things. Add NEW farmable mods for weapons and armor that can increase our power or introduce unique playstyles (like warmine cells). They can add in pseudo set bonuses with this too (related to raids/dungeons to add more loot incentive).

    For armor, they can do it with bonuses that actually mean something, instead of reputation, such as increased drop rate of XYZ, say auto rifle, or catalysts, etc. Wouldn't intefere with ghost mods, and some set(s) would be useful to nearly everyone. Especially if there was high stat/ artifice armor variants from master content that give older players a reason to upgrade, and newer players a progression pathway.
    The downside, vault space. Most of us are hoarders to begin with as we all know so this would just make it tons worse. Bonus to that, more Datto vault purging videos lol

    Honestly if Bungie doesn't want to push for a D3 but they want to keep releasing new gear there will need to be a rotation like how tcg's have. One of the most fun aspects of Destiny is going from zero to hero and being able to use old OP gear from years ago kinda kills the impact of new gear since its almost always "cool, but I already have this but better". Rather than vaulting, rotation has the factor of beloved weapons coming back into the game, which also allows new players and players who never used those gear piece back when they were great to experience the hype.

    I think legendary armor should have legendary perks, like exotic perks, but much weaker. That way, individual armor pieces can be exciting to chase just like a weapon. It would also make armor be a more interesting part of buildcrafting, but this might add more powercreep.
    I also think it would be cool if all stat distributions on armor came in increments of five, that way, you have way fewer wasted stat points, and it's much easier to optimize your armor with five or ten point stat mods and without an external site like D2 armor picker.
    Maybe they could retroactively round all stat points up or down to an increment of five, or maybe just have all new armor pieces drop this way. Maybe that would be a nightmare to code, but I've always hated constantly shifting stat points around because I felt like using a different exotic armor piece.

    Armor gives "free" mods and mod sockets/energy depending on aquisition source and/or rarity. Set bonuses can be as simple as changing the caps on mod effectoveness/giving extra mod power (so you get two stasis surges on your boots for free, and can have a max of five applied at a time). Or more unique stuff.

The fact that we haven't heard anything definitive about more raids (reprised or otherwise) or dungeons coming post-FS has me worried. I don’t think it’s going to happen but I could see a Destiny 3 actually being quite viable conceptually speaking in two ways:
    1- a redesign of classes without the grenade / melee dichotomy would open up a lot of possibilities. Right now Bungie has implemented these extra abilities indirectly. For example, “when you slide your melee blablabla” or “eat your grenade to…”. These things are arguably workarounds for a game restricted to 3 abilities. But imagine dropping the concept of grenade, melee, class to have them be whatever you want, and also maybe adding three before. I am not coming with this out of the blue - it is something that Mass Effect games did.
    2- also kind of inspired by Mass Effect, it would be interesting if the game had even more focus on mobility. Some classes have a bit of that, like hunters with their dodges. But I really mean taking it one step further, with some classes truly focused on aerial combat (dawnbreakers are trying to be that, but it doesn’t work perfectly in Destiny 2), others being very physical and in your face, others focused on stealth. Maybe everyone should have a dodge or dash, things like that.

    Perspective from an orbiter fan (in and out. Aware but don't reeeeeally care.)
    I think raids should. Be doubled down on. Make them harder. Longer maybe. Not more hp. More encounters. Some puzzle. Some ad heavy. Incorporate a little piece of each pillar of the game. Now drag out each raid to be a yearly development.
    Use this time to give more options for strikes. Use the data on multiple to know which ones to improve and see which ones compare better against each other. Provide a weekly vote for players to pick 2 of the 5 in the rotation.
    Exotic missions should grant the exotic a touch sooner. Especially if it's broken. Then provide the difficulty spike with the context of the exotic in mind.
    Crucible... Give me modern warfare map vote. Everyone needs to stop bitching around. They had it right. Make it right.
    Gambit. GIVE ME MORE MAPS. And idk what else this needs. I need this to be more of a comp alike. This should be what the guardian games is based around as far as game play.

    Here’s what they NEED to do in order for destiny to survive…. Destiny 2 can run for another 2-5 years if they do episodes right, crafting can stay but they need to add something above that like for example let’s call them “ascended” weapons that can only be obtained on like solo dungeon completions, solo GMs, master raids, lighthouse chest and so on. Destiny 3 can happen but it HAS TO BE a prequel.. let’s call it “Destiny: Dark Ages” it needs to be a fresh new game with maybe a couple familiar characters that were warlords back then but have it be a story like halo reach but without the main character dying of course. They can keep that game going for a while until the story catches up to the start of D1 which should take a while since there’s A LOT of lore that can be told and just leave it at that. But more realistically once marathon comes out destiny 2 will most likely see its end.. unless marathon flops. The idk what to tell y’all 😂

The wq campaign was fresh and hard argain but we “killed savathun” and imo it wasn’t impactful like a raid boss. Vow was awesome however, but they could have connected better. Lightfall was just eh overall, was not at all invested in the campaign and the raid is fun but does not tie into the story like it used to.
