    Best volleyball tutorial on UA-cam. Coach Donny provides extremely detailed "how to" descriptions along with supporting examples, often with slow motion video. Extremely talented coach. Well done series.

    • @larvitar2065
      @larvitar2065 2 роки тому +1

      @@tommyshelby8119 Make sure you jump facing 90 degrees or almost 90 degrees to the side and the key is your left arm (your right arm if you hit with your left hand). The more force you use to swing it down, the faster your torso will twist. And the more area your left arm is moving through, the more torque you'll generate. So i recommend keeping your left arm fully extended all the way through the swing, from when you're aiming with it to when you swing it down beside you. Tucking it in may feel more normal but wont let you twist as much.

    Thank you SO MUCH. I started varsity this year and my position is outside hitter. I told my parents to record me so that I can study and learn from mistakes etc. I kept looking at my form and how I spiked.. it looked very weird to me so I looked up videos on forms. I saw this and clicked on it. I have practice next week and I’m looking very forward to it thanks to you! I never knew you had to put your elbow up while you spike, so thank you!

    So similar form to serving in tennis.. back in middle school I didn’t have access to UA-cam so I bought a thin tennis magazine with snippets of professional players serving/hitting forms and studied and drilled them for months. Having teachers on UA-cam is such a blessing nowadays. Now I’m interested in learning volleyball!

    Thanks for this. I tried spiking a volleyball for the first time and it went horrible. My timing was off with the setter and my spikes were completely inconsistent. Turns out my elbow wasn’t high enough. It was splayed towards the right so it kept guiding my hand into the ball sidewards causing the inconsistencies. It was just out of habit from how I throw a baseball. Good thing you cleared it up for me before trials, thanks!

    If you look at some of the best hitters internationally including Clay Stanley they start their arm swings by swinging behind first then follow through up high connecting with the ball. It almost looks like a windmill. I used to hit like that this in high school then I was corrected to use your technique. Although I can bounce a ball over a backboard I don't seem to hit as heavy now. Great videos btw.
