I know on paper it is less horsepower for the money than competitors but comparison really is the thief of all joy. Nothing quite gets you as excited as seeing a red Ducati Panigale in your garage every morning. Even kids react differently in public when they see a Ducati vs say a Yamaha and kids don't lie. There's something special about them and that makes them worth the money. P.S. love the MM93 helmet!
Didn’t get it (my sons an ex BSB Ducati rider / fanatic with 23 Ducati’s in his past) but he persuaded me to change the Honda CBR650R to a Panigale V2 and now I get it in spades! Honda was a great first big bike! Ish! But the Panigale is another level! What a machine! I’m in love, with my son and my bike! Mind after drooling over his Carbon Wheels this weekend (v4 Panigale SP2) and listening to him tell me my V2 feels lighter! Sure it can’t be, I’m eyeing up £2,000 carbon wheels thinking I really want/need them! I’m hooked now, dumb it!
Loving 🥰 V2 at the moment! 2 years ago 125 Suzuki GSX-S125 1 year ago Honda CBR650R, this year Panigale V2! Will admit with the slim tank sliding into the tank with my crotch today wasn’t great but it’s at least a year more likely a few before the full stupid 220HP V4 with Akrapovik makes sense !
As an ex BSB racer my son hated his V4S because is wasn’t exciting enough! It wasn’t trying to kill him and found it full! But I’m at least a year off, possibly two before I go fro. A Panigale V2 to the V4S
@@ianwarren8316 The V2 is an excellent bike and probably the best road bike out there as far as “usable power” goes. However due to its design I fold myself clinching down on the tank with my legs more often, especially with aggressive engine braking. The V4 being a bit beefier in that area really helps.
@@vgogginz I know what you mean, hit a pothole on Saturday and bits of me hit the tank that didn’t enjoy it! Not too hard but definitely not fun despite seeing it and gripping with my legs!
I took your advice. Got dealer too fit exhaust system. Payed $700 aussie dollars for fitting. Points your don't like about the bike are minor things. I like your reasoning for buying standard v4 over v4s.. I love my Bayliss. Keep doing your channel. Your info is very informative 👌
Wow that's a solid price for the install on that exhaust! And yeah I love my bayliss to it's one of the coolest bikes Ducati has ever made I think. Thanks for watching and commenting I love the interaction
I have 3month old v2 bayliss and love apart from the tricky side stand and 160bhp is still a rocket ship to me, the v4 is the nuts but not for the roads we're the v2 is perfect.
Utter tripe The base Panigale isn’t the Bayliss addition with Akrapovic it’s the V2 at just over $17,000 so whining about the cost having picked the special edition bayliss version with Ohlins suspension and Stylema Brenbos is just missleading! Can’t be assed to watch passed 2 mins
I just flashed my Bayliss with BT Moto's tune. Picked up 20whp. Front wheel is lifting in 3rd above 9.5k now. Crazy fast. You should try their flash tune and installing a Sprint P08 air filter.
I track my Bayliss as well. For me, it's the perfect track bike because it has enough power, it's forgiving, and I am constantly learning. I love that you did not change your clutch cover. I think the stock look is a part of the design. Have you tracked the bike with slicks?
I did run slicks on that bike and I only run slicks these days. The engine is a gem with the power is makes. It’s so easy to ride I truly love that fact and the sound is to die for. I agree as well the stock look of that bike is as good as it gets and I like staying close to that look
You are spoiled by the V4. When you buy the V4R then the V4 will look like nothing to your eyes.... And when you get into a jet fighter then the V4R will be too slow! The main disadvantages of the V2 in my opinion are the price and the power to weight ratio. If it was like 5k less, 170hp and 165kg everyone would say is the best bike bla bla bla
At last someone who did not go on about the heat. I don't agree that you have to change the exhaust though - the stock one on my Bayliss at least would wake the dead and it looks pretty nice too. If fact my Bayliss is still stock and my bike is early 2022. I don't plan on changing anything. I know I am older (64) but I insure all my 6 bikes one of which is a 2021 BMW S1000RR M for €500 all on the one policy. Bike insurance seems extraordinarily expensive in the USA even allowing for your age. I am in Ireland.
It's nice to hear from another "older" rider. I'm 62 and I have a Bayliss. I do track days and ride it hard. I installed the Arrows slip-on and the Up Map (Termi) mapping. The bike sounds awesome and the power increase very noticeable.
Just looking at the photo when you are talking about wind protection. I could be totally off, but it looks like you're too far forward in your position. If you have the leg strength you wanna scoot back and hike your butt up in the air. If you don't have the leg strength then at least scoot back. You'll find you'll be able to get back behind it just a bit better. With that said it is a small windscreen. Enjoying watching the journey. Keep up the great work and growth. Also dig the longer formatted videos.
Yeah I think rear sets and a race wind screen would do wonders for this bike. BUT I’m trying to hold off on anything since I’ve been going a little crazy lately 😂. And thanks man I really appreciate it!! It’s an awesome feeling when o get comments like these
I am sure that you are the right person to ask my personal question. I'm thinking of buying between the v2 bayliss and the base v4. I would use it for mountain pass roads and 2 circuits a year. I have heard that the v4 is a crazy beast out of control on tight curved roads. What can you advise me? thanks!
Well the V4 is no out of control. It’s more refined and a better engine overall. But if your 90 percent street riding it the V2 would be a better bet. The V4 is so fast for the roads it’s hard to even tap into what it offers. The V2 is pushing the edge of what you can really use on the street. Both are absolutely amazing in their own ways. But as a street only bike the V2 would be my pick
When I bought the bike the MSRP was 21k, freight and prep was 1,436 and tax + doc was 1,724 for me. So back then I was over 24k for just the bike not including the exhaust. They raised the MSRP's on everything a lot over the past couple years
The total cost of your bike is bordering on the v4s. The v4s is a track ready bike with awesome ohlins electronic suspension and rated at 215 hp. You also mentioned that you are running out of gear. The reason for that is Ducati engineered the v2 for the street. Good luck with your bikes and if you can do more extended track footage would keep me interested. Thank you.
Actually headed to Florida in two weeks with my v2 and my v4 so track footage is coming soon for sure. And yeah it’s def more of a street bike I 100000 percent agree. That bike was me getting back into motorcycling after a while so I didn’t want to much power and I didn’t think I’d get into the track as much as I have. I do love the hell out of it tho so much it’s got character that’s for sure
Yes guy's but best excitement come with getting does Maschines in higher rpms. That's why is R6 so popular. It give you fastest in the world feeling. And leader class is way to powerful, it's about 2 gear play and struggle with way to much torque. I find V2 at perfect spot 🤌
I’ve got the V2 it’s plenty for the road and about to find out in May just how good it is on track but a lot of reviews rate it as so much easier to ride that you enjoy it all day at the fly rack when the V4 will tire you out in 2 hrs (unless your young and very fit anyway!)
Buying two very similar but at the same time different variations of two sports bikes from the same manufacturer will surely mean you will be constantly comparing them and given you track it and the V4 the poor V2 will always come out the loser in that contest. I recently sold my Triumph T120 because it was always coming out second best to my Thruxton R but it was a bit unfair comparing them as each bike is intended for a different kind of owner just like the V2 vs V4. In my case because I could not afford a V4.

The SuperSport tank shape is on point, it’s got comfy concave scallops for knees,& one for forearms and elbows both sides.
