  • This dude looked like he wasn't having fun, so I hooked him up with a little help. Also This is me and some friends trying out OHZA's mimosas in a can. I've never had them before but I would totally grab some for a weekend on the beach or another shred day with the homies

    I talk to so many people who quit after they have a bad first experience and it just kills me because if they could just get past that they'd have a new lifelong hobby. With just a few minutes you may have changed this guys life!

    Now, that is talent! Taking a dejected guy and giving him the will to live and to have fun.
    At the end of the day, Scott was probably a better boarder than the idiots who dumped him at the top of the mountain. Awesome

    I had a similar experience to this guy when I tried learning it the first time 5 years ago. I gave up and just went on with my life. This year I decided I wanted to try it again so I travelled to Niseko in Japan and didn't want to just waste my travels so I took some lessons and I got it, best decision of my life. It's a hobby for life now and I'm so glad I gave it another chance!

    Hey man just wanted to say how much of a blessing you’ve been. First time snowboarding with the girlfriend the other day and while I’ve skateboarded in the past she never has done anything like that. After seeing her falling over and over I was able to simplify everything with just the simple basics you taught with the footwork. And thanks to you I also didn’t fall not even once! Thank you

    I'm a new snowboarder with a brother who snowboards but a dad who skis. We can only bring two people on a trip because of rentals and all that stuff, but I was practically self taught because my dad cannot teach snowboarding. Honestly your channel gives me all the tips that help me, so keep up the great work!

    You instantly got my sub dude, I wish I knew you on the mountain. Every time I've gone snowboarding I've never learned cuz the people I'd go with would pressure me to go to the top hill when I didn't know how to stop or turn. You make me want to pick up a board and try again! Thank you!😁

    That’s so awesome u helped that dude out, my buddy thought me the hard way, two runs on the bunny slope then straight to the top. I figured out that for turning for me if I pointed my hand where I wanted to go my body would fallow. And keeping my knees bent made all the difference. And as u told him rocking ur toes up and down we’re a big part of it too. Last time I was on a board was 2010 so I would have to relearn everything if I went again. Maybe one day I’ll make a trip and see how I do. I miss it.

    Shout-out to Scott for knowing his limitations and recognizing that he was putting himself at risk by not knowing what he was doing.
    But, also shout out to Scott for trusting in the random fella that just rode on by and offered some advice.

When i was a kid i got this plastic 20 buck snowboard for a gift and i was eager to go in my backyard woods to try to snowboard, not much hills, mostly trees but boy did i enjoy it even if i was by myself... this cheap board had a 40kg weight limit so i was pretty young and haven't tried since...😅

    Big BIG BIG KUDOS TO YOU for helping out a perfect stranger. But....(a little but) pls do not go again with the tip of "lift your toes...lower your toes". When you already know ho to ride a snowboard terms like toe edge or heel edge just make sense but if you want to give a straight advice to a complete beginner you must begin checking his bindings (as you correctly do) make sure that he is firmly strapped in and then you simply say to them that he/she must ride using his/her butt (sitting motion or standing motion), it is really this simple.

    Love the videos but from one instructor to another I see you teach falling leaf a lot. Is this just due to only teaching these people for a few seconds? Or is this the way you normally teach? I always try to get my students to resist falling leaf due to them getting stuck with only doing it vs actually snowboarding.

    • @halfcabking
      @halfcabking  2 роки тому +2

      If I'm in a full on lesson witch has been years at this point, I would still teach a falling leaf before s turns. I also always try to not use a ton of jargon. I k.i.s.s. everything. But ya, I'm with these people for legit 5 minutes or less. 99% of them can't stop, or don't have any direction and are way up on the hill. So I just figure stopping, a little falling leaf in that period is perfect. Thanks for watching!

    • @halfcabking
      @halfcabking  2 роки тому +2

      Also after teaching falling leaf, it's important to definitely get them right into teaching. Every situation is different but I don't think learning to only go one direction on heels or toes is a good idea.

    • @longspeakmoto
      @longspeakmoto 2 роки тому

      I agree and disagree I taught kids tho which might be why. When I first started I started with falling leaf but I found that once the kids learned that they would think they could ride anything. And to make things worse parents would see there kids being able to "snowboard" then took them out of lessons and brought them on the big mountain.

    • @longspeakmoto
      @longspeakmoto 2 роки тому

      And to really make things worse the parents would complain to my boss because there kid couldn't ride the entire mountain without quitting and throwing a fit.
