you should already know how to ride one footed and control yourself one footed before hitting the lift, lol. Takes maybe 15 mins to learn, maybe his friends are just assholes and didnt teach him

Yo same. Getting off a regular lift i was fine could ride one footed on my board nearly no problems. The L lift or tee lift first time fell and wiped out like 8 times. And it hurts when that thing knocks into you.
nothing compared to my fail... about 30 years ago my brother brought me to a ski resort in germany. I was 16, and never skied before. And instead of going up with me on such a lift, he "gave" me a over 40 year old friend of his who never stood on skiers before, too, as a companion.... so we 2 noobs stood there side by side and waited for those awful hooks.... the first one came, we let him pass... the second one came, let him pass.... It was only a huge crowd waiting behind us.... so, no pressure. 3rd one came, we grabbed for it, couldn't sort out properly what to do with it, let him go. so, some hooks later, we finally had one.... our performance mus have been ridiculous, and after a few meters, the skiers of my lift compagnion crossed themselves, and with an elegent heap, he flew out to the left (I was on the right side). those things are super hard for boards, really designed for skiers. I skied for years, got on a snowboard and found it very difficult. I feel no fail towards this gentleman. If anything his commitment is inspiring.
T bar is not that bad, you can always push the otherside with your hand. Circle bar (poma) is worse. OR T bar when you are on snowb. and your little (and i mean she is really small) lady wants to go with you...
Not really lol I went for my forst time yesterday. I went alone on my own. I waited until I saw 2-3 snowboarders use it before going. Told the lady "firt time here" she stopped the machine, put the tbar where it should be and euggested I keep some weight on my backfoot on the board. I made it to the top. She stopped it the second time as well to make sure im comfortable with it and the 3rd and following time I told her not to stop it. If the following tbar is close and u think u wont have time to position yourself allinged with the slope, just tell them ull take the next one. It allowed plenty of time to grab the next one and put it between the legs. Hats off the the lady operating the tbar when I got there. She basically takes it and literally will put it between your leg if you dont grab it quick. All you gotta do is position yourself :D now today is the following day and I'm sore as fuck EVERYWHERE. But that has nothing to do with the tbar hahahaha
This is good old fashioned comedy - real humour. That guy will remember it as one of the best times of his life I am sure. I love his laughter throughout.
These comments make me wonder what the hell is wrong with some of you. That operator had incredible patience. Aside than riding along with that shmuck or duct taping him to the bar, there's nothing more he could have done.
He was annoyed... I had a guy like that too on a T bar, he helped me, but was super annoyed, and it's pretty intimidating when you keep failing. Eventually they told me to get away from the lift if I don't know how it works, and everyone was annoyed or laughed at me, from then on I was too scared to even try again, would rather walk up that mountain
the operator here would just yell at you histerically like you would ruin the pist and whatnot. dude in the video handled it well. he wanted him to success. to be fair the first time tanchor with a board was for everyone a nightmare. i dont know anyone that managed it on his 1day
I guess all lifts kinda suck in some way for snowboarders, since one of your feet is basically shackled at all times. Makes it a bitch to learn mounting/dismounting any lift
***** also cheaper + safer doesn't necessarily mean better overall. I mean, the kiddie rides at the carnival are cheaper and safer than a roller coaster but they aren't better.. But I did get stuck on a chair lift for about 4 hours one time, it sucked, and got dark while I was up there. I ended up having to spoon w/ my female friend for warmth which was really awkward since we both had significant others lol.
+Damn Dude it is. Hang Onkel for this shit for 12 minutes. my leg was hurting so much, i almost puked of pain and wanted to scream but didnt. Chair Lifts are a Lot more comfi
This guy seemed to already be annoyed after the first fall. Guess that no one explained this beginner that he shoudnt lean up the mountain. Which could have solved about half of his problems.
these are hard. way harder than most think. i would say people get lucky when they succeed. i went skiing one time and had the same issues as this guy. its not very intuitive.
***** Platters are way more difficult for snowboarders than T-Bars.. I live in Switzerland an I used to ski and snowboard. With skis it doesn't matter wich one, but with the snowboard the T-Bard is way easier than the platters.. But the first 20-30 lifts are always difficult...
Floeffel Really? Are platters diffcult? I have never taken a T-bar with a snowboard but out of the 50 times I took a platter on my board I fell only one or two times. Probably cause I had a good instructor :)
i feel for you man. I have been ridding for almost 8 years and never once went on a T Bar. I'm a very good glade snowboarder and my first time on a T bar was the The one at Breckenridge, Man I fell about 20 times. The lift operator finally told me to put it between my legs and everything else was fine. Getting up their was a challenge too. Their where some steep grades and once you passed the tree line the wind almost caused me to fall over. I did it with sheer will power. BTW that lift operator is a dick
Funniest d&mn video, plus with couple laughing in background makes it even funnier. I really like the section where Dave takes down the lift operator with him...too funny!!! I think I have watched this video 10 times and still laugh like h&ll...
honestly its pretty difficult to ride snowboard with 1 foot, I think i would fail the same way the guy did. Probably easy if you ski though. feel bad for the guy, its obvious he is somewhat new to snowboarding.
these things are tough to handle when you're still shaky on your board though. More than once as a beginner I just held on to that bar for dear life as it dragged ass in the snow to the top from half-way down.
Happened to me on the same fucking ski lift. WATCHING THIS MAKES ME RELIVE THE MEMORIES. It was the first day, but everyone else could do it. There are no benefits of having no balance.
First time on t-bar this year, first try - nailed it. Second time - caught the edge on the EDGE of the slope and fell backwards from a small hill of technical snow where the snow masine is located and took the webbed fence with me on my way down. Thought it will be better after lunch - took a chairlift, then broke my wrist in the middle of the slope🙈 I've got very good season this year😂😂😂 🤦🏻
for all you beginner snowboarders - try to get on the T-bar lift with a skier , you will have something to hold on and you will learn how to balance. when alone lean back and use the hands - front/top hand to hold the stick, back hands loose for adjusting the position like a boat rudder
These Anchor lifts are a bit difficult riding alone, but just as difficult lifting together with someone. But man, that dude sure took a number of attempts with this lift : s.
Years ago, on to top of Lake Louise, we had a pommel lift. I swear it seems to be in spots to be 70 % grade. There were big thick ropes on the snow, if you fell off. If you misses them, someone would take out dozens of people. I know it's bad, but I would laugh, loud and hard, especially if they were just below me on the lift line, and not fuck up myself watching the carnage.
When I was little I sat on the ankor allone. And the ankor started to lift up in the half of slope. With me on the ankor. It lift up in direction of line and I felt like flying. It was so much fun. But then I reminded myself that I have to land it tooo. But fortunately it started falling down to the ground. Before reaching the top of the slope. But it appeared that I couldn't land it! And it started to spin little on the left so I landed sideaways and it started to drag me on the snow till I lost my ski. Evil lift.
One good way to learn. . Go with a someone. First time I went, first go. Makes it way easier to balance. Especially if they're a skier. Its not easy learning on a t bar by yourself.
The T-bar is all about balance & single foot riding skill. It's somewhat easier to ride with skis, but all novice riders tend to try to sit down on the bar & that is a recipe for a crash.
What did we learn today?
Never give up.
Jean Chiarelli
We learned the T-bar doesn't replace your skeleton when you grab it and you still have to support yourself.
Neva back down never wha?!
And don‘t try to sit on a T-bar, just lean against it 😉.
20th time’s a charm 😅
