Fun Fact: Lathland's initial build, the CRAM submarine, is really accurate to the historical M-class british submarine, at least in concept. A submarine equipped with a massive 305mm cannon.
Pretty much all early submarines were armed with deck guns and would only submerge defensively because torpedos were so expensive and underwater power was inefficient. It was a really cool but of naval history.
Hey Lathrix, if you are interested, the awesome jet water skimmer at 35:10 was based on a real plane colloquially known at the Caspian Sea Monster, or more officially the Lun class erkanoplan. It was a Russian aircraft in the 1980s. Absolutely worth a google!
Technically the Caspian Sea Monster was a one off prototype to prove the overall layout, and the Sun class were a smaller design that were actually produced (in a limited amount).
It is very, VERY impressive how far you managed to get only using CRAM cannons. Good on you for even attempting this! CRAM-only FtD gets ridiculously hard (and tedious) the further along you go. You did get darn lucky you didn't run into a Flying Squirrel or SS plane squadron though, because those things are almost impossible to CRAM these days. Other than that: masterfully done, frag CRAM FTW, and the way you dealt with every CRAM-resistant enemy was beautiful! 👍
Cram&Ram is my fav combo. I dub it the "CRAMakazi" strat. Can't miss them with your cram if you're point blank. Sadly, this strat doesn't work well against flying enemies >:(

The death of the Black Current has to be one of the funniest battles I have ever seen. You've got this great submarine with anti-ship missiles that cannot hit the massive battleship lumbering towards it because it has no torpedoes and the absolute tub is submersible. And then said battletub uses quite literally the worst weapon to use underwater to kill you. Edit: And did it twice!
Its also how early submarines would operate. Torpedos where so expensive that they would have deck guns and surface against anything which they outarmed to force a surrender.

Idk, he tried last year but stopped for some reason. My best guess is that he’s too much of a perfectionist to settle for “good enough” for campaign builds; With so much time available to build and needed to play the campaign, he gets burned out.
Lathrix has done quite a lot of campaigns in the past but hasn't done any recently, like not in the past year at all. I've no doubt he will do another one at some point.
There is a lot of micromanaging in the campaign, and unfortunately it does get a tad tedious after a while, in my opinion. I've come twice in trying to do the campaign but ended with giving up halfway, on both.

A few years ago I think, you did a submarine run. I loved the idea of the sub run and did one myself, but more than that I LOVED the idea of a first-person battle bridge and copied the idea in my own runs multiple times, using pistons to raise the bridge to its combat position and wiring cameras around a periscope to use as monitors on the bridge. It's fantastic. It's also really difficult compared to 3rd person. I would love to see you do a first-person challenge run where your focus is on building an awesome bridge! i love how in the beginning the front of the ship looked like a chestburster from alien and now i have a compulsion to play from the depths again. i always love your FTD series Lathrix keep it up my good man
Some massive guns with heavy reload times makes a lot of sense if you can submerge between shots. Reload, aim on target, float topside and fire full broadside before sinking again, biding your time to strike from the depths once again.
I would love to see a "one size fits all" challenge. Essentially just one single gun allowed. You have to make a gun strong enough to take out heavy ships while fast enough to hit a flying squirrel. Seems plausible with a rapid fire laser or machine gun, but still sounds really tough.
@@deusvult4084 I've been thinking about this quite a bit... I don't think lasers are a resolution whatsoever like I initially thought. The second a shield appears, run's over. That said, plasma and rail might work! Would seriously love to see this, though!
I can confirm that rails can indeed wreck flying squirrels. I haven't played the game in quite some time, but I remember them being one of my design targets for a railgun cruiser. Have to be stupid fast shells with good accuracy though. Need to hit them with a quickness. From what I remember the railguns could accurately hit stationary ships at 20km, moving ships at 6 - 10km, depending on size and speed. Flying squirrels it had to be close at around 1km and less.
So ring shields... I was one of the people who really dug into experimenting with them to figure out exactly how they work. I don't remember all the exact numbers anymore, but the gist of it is... A ring shield increases the AC of block faces that are parallel to it. Its strength is a constant (the thing I don't remember rn but maybe +40 or something?) multiplied by the ratio of the shield's area to the largest cross-sectional area of the vessel along a parallel plane. Angled blocks, IIRC, get a pythagorean interpolation according to the angle of the faces. So... to fully defend your ship with them, you need to have _three_ ring shields, facing each of the main axes, and they need to kind of run along the outer edges of the ship just under the skin. This makes them pretty difficult to retrofit onto existing builds, and they're kind of a "build a sparse wire frame of ring shields and then build a ship around them" sort of thing. Their main weakness, other than the sheer inconvenience of building them into vessels is that the entire time they're online, they build up charge. If the ring itself is ever damaged, then it unleashes effectively a hollowpoint blast from the damaged end (I think... I remember one of those types of systems does HP/impact while the other does penetrating kinetic, between ring shields and particle cannon piping, but I might have it backwards). I do think it's the ring shields that does hollowpoint style damage, as it has a tendency to basically shear your vessel in half. I actually think they _are_ a cool concept, but they rarely get used because of the difficulty of building them and the damage they do to your own ship when destroyed. Plus I don't think the AC boost is big enough to compete with shield projectors. I remember hearing that it's because one of the lead devs didn't like the concept, so he's kind of killed it via neglect. I do wonder if they could find a niche in tank design, especially for the vulnerable sides, since tanks are much more likely to have heavy armor on the outside. Boosting heavy armor up to AC 100+ is much more significant than boosting metal to 60+.
Another glorious playthrough Lath! Would love to see you experiment more with the wonky tech like warp drives and ring shields. Like a short range teleporting craft with a beam sword would be incredible.
Have you ever usied the "Wire" Method of EMP protection? I have been testing with it recently to great sucess. (Thin lines of heavy armor running through the ship and around weapons, directly conducting all EMP Damage straight into isolated Surge protectors) Might be too strong for this kind of video and play though.
Its propably one of the best emp defense schemes. Mostly because ideal armor construction *Already* has faraday cage shaped HA for protection around vitals, thus it basically needs no modification. For airships they're pure HA so it doesnt even matter.
Lathrix you should try using alloy in conjunction with lots of Heavy armour. This way you dont float too high & have basically equivalent protection as metal armour. (Metal is cheaper but less dense, alloy + Heavy armour is slightly more expensive but bulkier per volume because Heavy armour is god)
You're from the depth series are why I started playing the game again after abandoning it. Still can't build an aircraft to save my life but I have made a few working ships and subs.
This is hands down my favorite adventure mode video you've made! I love that many of the fights were close and we got to really appreciate the enemies that you were fighting.
You may have been better off if you always fired the first barrage manually before letting the AI do things. Otherwise it tends to miss since the AI will basically fire it the instant it gets within the accepted firing error.
Woooo thats what I have been waiting for! The cram cannon craft at the end both looked and sounded like a proper power house! It seems kinda dejavu, can't remember exactly in which adventure video of yours but the same thing happened at the end: you beat the most powerful craft up to that point, then its brother comes to take revenge. This was awesome to watch!
Exactly the video I was looking for, I just got from the depths last night and didn’t have a lot of time to play it so I’m now soaking in as much info on the game as possible and I love the cram cannon over everything
I love watching this because it reminded me of my cram only ship. It had 6 tripple barrel crams and they fire one at a time. Its not effective by any means when it comes to lams but its fun to watch.
I started watching you about nine years ago. I have had new family members join or brought into this world, and i have had some depart from here. Watching your ftd vids takes me to a good place.
I know that adventure mode is more of your jam, but I would really love to see another campaign- is there any chance that you’ll do another one of those anytime soon?
Man, it's been a while since I've last watched one of your videos, and I'm really glad that amidst many awful changes in my life, I can still come here and just immediately get back into it. You're an awesome guy and as someone who was around for your very first FtD series I'm really happy to see it's still going
1:08:11 reminds me of the meme of the scene in The Last of Us 2 where the cute rabbit gets shot with an arrow. Such a cute creation, dead in a split second. The Twin Guard ships are all fantastic, but the higher tier ones are all so wonderfully animated. Especially the sea turtle that unfortunately got a CRAM shell stuck in its nose. Petition to call the chunky masterpiece of a ship at the end of the video the Citadel. The Onyx Watch has the Stronghold as their god-tier ship, & as Lath's ship took some design inspiration it should follow a similar naming theme. It's big & chunky, covered in CRAM, got shields to deflect, well supplied in a war of attrition, & is tough to kill. From the Depths is a series I wish to see continued in the future.
I would love to see you just do a video and dive a bit into engine/powerplant designs or gun designs or armor or even whatever, just to get some explanations and tips fro stuff in the game. Also not being a thing that needs to condenze a dozen? hpurs into an hour.
I'd love to see you do another hydrofoil whenever you do another one of these videos (for example, maybe during a torpedo only challenge) if it's possible.
Lathrix you have given me love for From the Depths and Terratech, I just wish I could play this game and do challenges like these, but i dont have enough brain power to understand almost anything in this game. Keep up the great content, love these full playthroughs as well.
there’s a mod i’d recommend for a playthrough like this called the booster barrel mod. it costs 2k resources but doubles the speed of cram shells so the cost is justified. other than that i’m not sure about any other mods
Loved the video @Lathland! Can't wait for the next video man! Imagine playing From the Depths, but you're playing as one of the Various Nations of World War Two building Fleets to Fight the Various Builds of the Community. The Rules are Simple: • Builds on the Ships and Aircraft (as well as Vehicles if you're in a Map with Land Masses like Neter) from World War Two. Ships from World War One that were Modernized for Service in World War Two are Included. • No EMP Rounds Allowed! The Technology, let alone the Research for, it Wasn't around in World War Two. Only Frag, HE and AP Rounds are Allowed. • Cargo Ships, Tankers and Repair Ships will Wait in the Resource Zones while your Main Fleet. Basically, The Resource Zones are to be Used as Anchorages like Ulithi and Tulagi. • Cram Cannons are to be the Main and Secondary Armaments. 40 millimeter Bofors and even 20 millimeter Oerlikon Anti-Aircraft Guns as well as their Various Counterparts are already provided in the Game. • Missiles can be used as Bombs, Rockets, Torpedoes, Depth Charges and for Smaller Escort Vessels like the Corvettes, Frigates and Destroyer Escorts Hedgehog Anti-Submarine Mortars. • Most Importantly, Learn to Breadboard Along the Way. The Breadboard should allow each Ship to Function as it Did in the War (or in the Bismarck's Case, how the Ship Should've performed). If a Ship is running low on Supplies, It should be able to conduct "Replenishment at Sea" Operations with the Cargo Ships or the Tankers for it's fuel. If it needs to be Repaired, it should be able to Meet up with the Repair Ship at the Nearest Resource Zone and Get Repairs. If an Enemy Build is found under the Water, The Destroyers and Any Ships with Sonar should be able to reduce speed to 8 to 14 Knots (9.2 to 16.1 mph or 4.151 to 7.265 m/s) while Making their Attacks on it. If an Enemy Build is found Flying Towards you, Your Ships Anti-Aircraft Guns as well as any Fighters or Fighter-Bombers from your Aircraft Carriers should be able to Deal with it before any Damage is Done to the Fleet. The Same for Aircraft, They should be able to Fold their Wings for Storage either on the Flight Deck or in the Hangar Deck below, bring them Out for when they're about to Take off, Land on the Carrier when they've Used their Ammunition and need to Rearm and Refuel or even Repair Etc. If you're still wondering about whether to use Steel or Alloy Armor Blocks, Both are Good but it's Generally Known that Alloy is Better because it's Lighter and has more Health. The Best way that I can see for using both Steel and Alloy is to have Steel Armor for the Draft or the Part of the Ship's Hull that's under the Water and Everything above the Waterline will be made of Alloy. The Armor Scheme can be Poles or Wedges of either Material, depending upon the Players Choice. Let me know what you think about this and I'll catch you in your next video man!
Great run! One option how to use back part for frontsiding, is to make very long hull mounted guns. Basically all parts in stern and end of the barrel all the way at the bow

I think I have watched this video 3 or 4 times but I cannot know because everytime I do watch this I fall asleep on the very relaxing sound of CRAM cannons dismantling their enemies.
This was an absolutely awesome run! I'd love to see the series continued, and I've got a challenge run for you! A hovercraft with both maximum and minimum altitudes that are pretty restrictive. Have to make sure you have lots of redundancy for control while still keeping everything protected and dealing damage out.
1:08:05 Poor OP turtle😢😢 1:11:52 'Yall heard of going underwater?'😂😂😂😂😂 The final design was awesome, I don't know why any of them aren't added to the adventure mode or something
Frankly I'm impressed the final vessel beat even 1 Megalodon! I was convinced nothing short of a doom CRAM could get through it's munition defense. Fun fact, it will actually use its main guns to shoot down huge missiles if your vessel has them, such a well defended craft. Your build style may be lumpy and full of weird shapes, but I absolutely love it.
the two successive megalodons at the end was great. this craft armor-wise reminds me of something i sometimes enjoy doing in space engineers, whenever a friend gets the itch to do some sandbox pvp in it: making a ship that's basically just a massive nicely shaped chunk of armor with some guns sticking out
Just wanted to comment that following the shell at 45:13 was some really great camera work. It usually goes underappreciated but makes a huge difference in the ability to follow the fights and feel how powerful the hits are. 👍
Lots of fun to watch, FTD is definitely a series I wish to see continued in the future. Also, I realize that this would probably not have worked very well (if at all), but it would have been neat (and in the spirit of the challenge) to try using airburst CRAM as a munition defense.
I love watching Lathrix play this game, he makes it seem so easy, love to see more and just love to see more Lathrix videos be it FtD or something else. for challenges it might not work, for video but have a different weapon type for each angle of the ship so for example only have a front facing cram, one broadside laser other advanced cannon and back missiles, other one was randomize every time you go through a portal but that would take way too much time swapping weapons over. But yeah, great video love the content love the creator keep up the good work.

A joy as always to watch, been so engaged in custom battles lately I haven't even glanced at the adventure mode lol
what about squid shaped submarine that grapples and drags the enemy underwater?
In one of his campaign playthrough he created this type of submarine-mine-brander. But i can't tell you when.
I think it's Building the Fleet #3 and #4

nice a glitch or ur making a joke i dont understand?@@WildmanTrading
@@snowdrop9810 HA no longer acts like a surge protector.
33:50 is the literal coolest vehicle. I’ve been watching your vids for a decade especially from the depths and I’m blessed to see that
I was about to go to sleep but i can always CRAM a lathland video in😜👍
I just love these kinds of videos, they're convenient and absolutely entertaining!
"1 weapon of each type(or a mirrored pair)" would be fun to see too. I'd kind of like to see more defenses and a teleporter too.
5:50 What a glorious jump shot 😂
To me it seems like you just make videos of whatever game you like. It's what I love about your channel. (:
From the depths is one of my favorite games that you play, thanks for the great longform content!
the ability to sink your battleship to shotgun a submarine is possibly the most american thing I've seen
I simply love your content and have been a fan for years. From the Depths will always be a series I wish to see continued far into the future.
HEAT is going to have a good time
Heavy Armor is 12 times the cost of Metal and Light Alloy. I'd say that's a little more than just slightly more expensive lol
@@oliverlimb109 That's why you put beam slopes in the middle of your armor layers ^_^
@@Feraligono yes i know however the light alloy get deleted then you have the same problem

I love these long videos. It's a nice thing to have on in the background.
Yes! I’ve wanted this for so long! CRAM is just the best weapon and it’s so fun watching something just fall to pieces when it gets hit!
From the depths is a series I wish to see continued in the future 😄
Woooo thats what I have been waiting for! The cram cannon craft at the end both looked and sounded like a proper power house! It seems kinda dejavu, can't remember exactly in which adventure video of yours but the same thing happened at the end: you beat the most powerful craft up to that point, then its brother comes to take revenge. This was awesome to watch!
Have you considered adding this ship to the workshop? Would be cool to compare the “big ships” from the various FTD UA-camrs.
So its basically an Iowa class Battleship but X2??
That sounds AWESOME!!!
Want to see the influenza 2
Want to see the influenza 2
More. I need more. I find the game way to complicated to learn in the short amount of free time I have. I play vicariously through you.
Got that bell icon, I was ready
Man, it's been a while since I've last watched one of your videos, and I'm really glad that amidst many awful changes in my life, I can still come here and just immediately get back into it. You're an awesome guy and as someone who was around for your very first FtD series I'm really happy to see it's still going
Love to see from the depths
The Swamp Citadel also works as he sometimes sinks into the water.
I would love to see you just do a video and dive a bit into engine/powerplant designs or gun designs or armor or even whatever, just to get some explanations and tips fro stuff in the game. Also not being a thing that needs to condenze a dozen? hpurs into an hour.
The absolute execution at 8:40 was delicious, with the music and all
I'd love to see you do another hydrofoil whenever you do another one of these videos (for example, maybe during a torpedo only challenge) if it's possible.
The issue would be flying enemies- if he's restricted to just torpedoes then he wouldn't be able to hit them
Maybe a giant mobile base on hydrofoils with little drones? Or perhaps a ramming vehicle on hydrofoils? Or maybe both?
I really love the design of your ship. It's shape definitively radiates it's brawling nature, socky, bulky, manacing!
Please do another long term FTD series :( I found your channel many moons ago watching the desert/land vehicle themed campaign
The Rules are Simple:
• Builds on the Ships and Aircraft (as well as Vehicles if you're in a Map with Land Masses like Neter) from World War Two.
Now use only C-RAM
crams are really fun, they sound so satisfying and the explosions are equally awesome. thanks for making these vidoes, love them all
YESS FROM THE DEPHTS ! Thank you so much from France, big fan here since the begining ! :D
Great run!
One option how to use back part for frontsiding, is to make very long hull mounted guns. Basically all parts in stern and end of the barrel all the way at the bow
Thank you for choosing my suggestion! It means a lot. :)
Please sir keep blessing us with videos of this game, I'm in love with your From the Depths videos !
I would be so hyped to see a playthrough where you do a run only using melee drones !
"Only cram cannons" Mad lad. I just got back into the game and I like watching you cuz I actually learn a lot.
i would abseloutly love to see more FtD in the future. very pleasant to watch.

Those distraction missle/ballons you made halfway through are hilarious and i love them
Crazy how soothing it is to watch shells slam into armour like this. Plus one sub!
I’ve been looking forward for a play through like this for a long time … I love cram and now I can watch lath using my favourite weapon!!
A vid about from the depths from you is the first vid ever in my watchlist and I cherish it and the nostalgia I get whenever I see it
I think I have watched this video 3 or 4 times but I cannot know because everytime I do watch this I fall asleep on the very relaxing sound of CRAM cannons dismantling their enemies.
Noice, new from the depths video. I love these. I still can't wrap my head around all the technical stuff in from the depths.
I love your videos! They keep me entertained for days on end.
From the depths is a serries I definiately want to see continued in the future
This was an absolutely awesome run! I'd love to see the series continued, and I've got a challenge run for you! A hovercraft with both maximum and minimum altitudes that are pretty restrictive. Have to make sure you have lots of redundancy for control while still keeping everything protected and dealing damage out.
1:08:05 Poor OP turtle😢😢
1:11:52 'Yall heard of going underwater?'😂😂😂😂😂
The final design was awesome, I don't know why any of them aren't added to the adventure mode or something
Also, when will you continue your drone only FTD adventure run?
The Alpha strike of that final design is terrifying! If I saw that coming toward my ship, I'd turn it around and get outta there
Lathrix, Lathrix, Lathrix. You’ve been tickling all the right places with these from the depths videos. I like that.
I've been watching you play from the depths since I was 12 I'm 19 now and still get so excited everytime you upload a new from the depths video
The music kicking in when you engaged the Megalodon was wonderful.
Great video as always, From the depths is a series I wish to see continued in the future.

From the Depths is a series I would like to see continued in the future.
I love this long form content UA-cam needs to account for this!
the two successive megalodons at the end was great. this craft armor-wise reminds me of something i sometimes enjoy doing in space engineers, whenever a friend gets the itch to do some sandbox pvp in it: making a ship that's basically just a massive nicely shaped chunk of armor with some guns sticking out
FINALLY!! I haven't watched this video yet but i'm so so very excited to see some cram cannons used!
Thanks for making me want to replay some FTD! CRAMs are so fun. Big guns that make big booms. Will spend the holidays playing this game.
What I will say is that when you post these kinds of videos, they always manage to surface *from the depths* of the algorithm! ;D
OH, seeing the "caspian" is so neat, I'm glad to see a design that references the awesome madness that is ekranoplans in game.
I absolutely live for these from the depths videos.
