Funfact: FTD gravity above "Space" ramps up exponentially, and finally reaches a "singularity". This happens around 8k altitude. At that height, nothing can pass, and this is called "The Wall" in Neter lore. The Wall is a defensive measure maintained by ancient machinery deep below the Gray Talon homeland. The Wall stops all outsiders from entering, except the Scarlet Dawn, who have The Key, which lets them basically make a hole through it. This wall and funny gravity can be abused with CRAM mortars, to have 1.5km/s very fast homing CRAM's which is funny. This however *basically neccesitates autodetect to work well*
From the depths challenge idea: bottom of the ocean. You must spend the entire game hugging the bottom of the ocean and only surface or use drone when entering portal.
Early game he could go for grappeling hook torpedos/missiles to drag the enemy ships & flyer to the sea floor. Not sure how well that would work mid to late game though. Maybe, finally, we'll get a good nuke drone that magnetises towards the hulls of ships.
Hey Lath, I know the regular campaign can take ages to finish 100% and you probably feel like its been done to death over the years but I'd love to see you hit that with some challenges too. Perhaps not necessarily claiming every tile for yourself but maybe just going for all resource zones or all "boss fights" with some challenging constraints. A run in which you can't gather resources apart from the corpses of your enemies would be pretty neat.
Your next challenge, should you choose to accept it: A Scavenger Run. You are forbidden from designing your own weapons, they must be stolen from destroyed craft using the prefab function (probably by just going into sandbox mode to steal it from there instead of trying to capture so many vessels). No reshaping turret caps or reprogramming weapons, you must survive to the end with your cobbled together amalgamonster of a ship. Good luck! Awesome video btw, thank you so much for doing this longform content, it's so much more fun to watch!

He is pretty humble about his building skills but here's food for thought, if you load in a 'boss' design like megaladon, bear in mind the lore master built it and then basically gutted it to be killable, what we get to fight is a heavily nerfed variant
I'd love to see a run where you use exactly one of each type of weapon. Maybe start with one of your choice, then add a new one with each portal you enter so that you can't focus on making one or two uber-powerful and neglecting the others. In the later levels you'd have to use your best judgement to maintain balance between all the weapons, but I think it could still be really interesting.

Here I am on Christmas Day watching a 2 hour video of a game I don't play (infact I don't play a single game shown on this channel), just because I like listening to Lathland. The "laid back seriousness" mixed with the subtle (sometimes not so subtle) humor is what keeps me coming back watching this videos. It's a great time to relax from stressful endevours of life.
I loved the tilting space station that would have to move to fire it's main gun, just makes it so much more imposing than a turreted weapon. Would love huge advanced or railgun that just delivers one large HE or HEAT round. Also how does space fair for the land mode?
You can use breadboards to allow your ship to maintain a manually selected altitude. Using the secondary\tretiary drives as a player controlled altitude switch, and converting it to a target altitude value.
you can theoretically add ships you've built into fleet indexes to be used... its how a bunch of custom ships have become cannonized into the various fleets over time.
I love how every time he plays from the depths and is fighting something, no matter how bad the situation is, he prioritizes praising the builds all the time whenever he can, you gotta love it.
"One Shot" only. You have to use a weapon with a 2-minute or longer reload time. Since I don't know if a true one-shot only is possible, you can have multiple weapons, but you have to fire them all at once. You can use any form of countermeasures but not to intentionally attack the enemy. There has to be at least a 2-minute delay between firings. You can use continuous damage weapons like lasers, but they have to be used in short bursts with the 2-minute delay. You can make any form of craft you want, so (submarine, plane, spacecraft, land craft, anything else) is fully allowed.
Railgun with sabot rounds for lots of penetration. And I meant a really, really powerful railgun. Then set the AI to target enemy AI block. Absolutely sucks for lots of small enemies, but useful aganst one large enemy, since if your AI fires accurately the round just goes through everything and destroys the enemy AI.

YES I’ve been waiting for another one of these playthroughs, IMO some of the best on youtube. I’ve recently started FTD, and now I appreciate these so much more lol. I always forget as a normal person that scientists can be this chaotic. Love it
Hi Lathrix! Thanks for keeping up the great vids! May i recommend a capture only run where you only use vehicles you capture for your next try? Here are some optional rules: 1. You may not build a craft as you are used to. Instead, you mist capture and modify crafts the game spawns in to progress. When you capture a new craft, you must scrap your old craft (or make it a bot if you’re really attached :) 2. You may not add more than 20-30% to the volume of any craft you capture, to size up, you must capture a new craft. 3. Try to work with the theme and weaponry of each craft you capture rather than modifying each the same way. Done right, this should be great way to showcase of a bunch of different designs and give them your own spin. 4. Have fun! We love you Lath :)

Would love to see your engine designs sometimes, they are really wierd in this game and I find it hard to make my own, so seeing what other people do will help immensely!
Back when I used to play a lot of From the Depths I did some tests in regard to what was the best engine, can't quite remember what came out of it but it wasn't RTG's. As you say, RTG's take up a lot of space in comparison and they have a high upfront cost. Great for a transport vehicle that doesn't need much power and will spend the majority of the time traveling in the main campaign. But for something like a combat vehicle it takes up a lot of space and resources that could be used for firepower/armor instead. Besides, most combat vehicles tend to salvage their destroyed enemies for fuel and ammo, so the lack of resource consumption on RTG's is not that important. Early game the 'starter' vehicles won't be used for long enough to make up for the upfront investment of RTG's, and even late game the different factions may require swapping out designs.
When I played spaceship. On my run I used a tethered black that I lowered down to the portal. Make sure to have upward thrust as the gravity will pull your ship down
just spoke to my friend about you- watched you since I was little it seems. JUST STARTED playing from the depths. thank you for so many years of good memories, laughs and content.
That last fight was great. I do love those videos and I've waited a long time for a space one. I know it's cheesy, but you know... It's so cool! How about a short range particle cannon or even particle cannon melee next time?
The Steel Striders Mobula seems to be a combination of the P-1112 Aigaion from Ace Combat 6 and the Gleipnir from Ace Combat X, with the shape being the P-1112 and the downwards facing particle cannon being the signature attack of the Gleipnir. It’s a great adaptation, and it fits well with FTD and the SS.
These from the depths series are best movies I watched this year sir! Thank you for your hard and dedicated work! Marry Christmas to you and a Happy new year!
Your FTD have been a huge inspiration for me as I try to get into the game! I’m still very new, and making decent looking hulls still evades me, but I’m learning! I hope to one day be able to make crafts like this, love the long term videos!
Finally! A space run done by one of my favourite FTD youtubers - this was my first interest in FTD as in the trailer years ago pre-release it had space battles etc.
you should do a run with your main craft in the atmosphere but it has no weapons while you have a secondary craft in space carrying all of your offensive capabilities
A couple "Can you beat FtD" Challenge suggestions: -Mecha only. (You must have either hover, driving, or sailing as the bottom part, and your weapons have to fit on a humanoid shaped craft.) -Hijack only. (beyond the first craft being needed to be outfitted to attack another craft, you can only advance to the next zone in a vehicle that was once owned by the enemy. Minor modifications permitted, IE the new vehicle needs a heartstone, or a weapon is set up improperly/inefficiently.)
FTD is a series i love to see continue in the future. I will also like to see games like Dyson Sphere project(i heard it got a combat update so i'd love to see what that game has to offer) Planetary annihilations titans(with galactic conquest overhaul mod with its recommended mods as well. ) and satisfactory.
Challenge idea. Main, unarmed vehicle, with a number of free-floating, attached structures, each one with a unique weapon type. Lastly, theme as chaos undivided, with each floating turret using a different god for it's theme. Most likely, Tzeentch has high tech, magical laser and partical cannons. Nurgle has living ammo, missiles and torpedos. Swarmers preferred. Khorn has overwhelming force in Cram and Partical Cannons. And Slanesh has excess in sniper and rapidfire Adv Cannons. I don't think there is another weapon type other than melee or drone nukes. Extra if each uses different materials and defenses. PD, flares, shields, heavy armor etc, as appropriate.
From the depths is one of my favourite series on the channel along with random stuff like nimbatus, they are definitely series I want to see continued in the future :)
I’d like to see what you’d do with a challenge like adventure mode with only one gun. It’d be difficult and interesting because it’d be very simple to lose, but with enough munitions defenses (not allowed to damage enemies) and armor you should be able to take almost all the luck out of losing. Mostly though, Big gun is cool, and I want to see Big gun. Maybe the technical challenge could be only one turret, so you could have a bunch of “guns” all being part of the same Big gun.
For example with the turret limitation you could do things like put a laser and a cram cannon and an advanced cannon all using the same turret block. That’d be one Big gun. But you couldn’t have an advanced cannon on a turret block and a laser somewhere else. If it damages the enemy’s craft it’s gotta be on the turret
About a quarter of the way through, and hoping you implement the "Rods from god". The way I do it is 1 giant missile or 3 bog missiles, with a active radar and filled with hardened hulls. Its not the most cost effitiant but its amazing to watch.
Can I just say that it has been FAR too long since you've made any allegiance to the ruinous forces of Chaos. Glad to see you returning to your roots, even if it is with Tzeentch of all creatures. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!
From the Depths is a series I wish to see continued in the future. Man, seeing this episode makes me want to roleplay aliens invading the poor citizens. Making a space battleship that zooms through space one minute and swoops down for an attack the next (would solve the portal crossing problem) Plus, it would look pretty cool.
Idk why, but I really like the idea for a space craft to have its main weapons be torpedoes. Like, you drop the thing from space and have it use it’s propeller to hit the enemy. I don’t think it’d work very well, but it’d be hilarious.
I was thinking about what/how would a "true" space campaign in FTD look like. No gravity and this minimal airdrag present, no ground or water except for small asteroids, "death zone" where blocks immediately disintegrate at both -100 and 400 meters away from (theoretical) sea level. Of course that would necessitate a whole new rooster of ships/factions. I always dreamed about modding in such a thing but I can barely get my vehicle AI working so ain't no way.
Quick correction, the difficulty 95 sign is misplaced and should be at 1:39:30 ! Where the 95 pops up should instead be 90! Sorry 'bout that!

Love your humor bud. The quick shot of the shuttle descending the first time had me bursting. I love the long plays! Thanks for putting in the time
Love your content Lathrix, finally conceded and bought FTD during the winter sale because of you.
Same!
I have always been curious about this, and it was an utter joy to watch! Thanks Lath, Happy Holdays!
These from the depths series are best movies I watched this year sir! Thank you for your hard and dedicated work! Marry Christmas to you and a Happy new year!
Glad I woke up to see this in the morning, loving the longer videos just hope it isn't too tiring for you.
"We can evade all those cram shots" as the CRAMs detonate above the ship, the shrapnel shredding the shuttle and almost making you lose the run
"That's the Megalodon. Two million resources of pain."
Truer words have never been said.
Thanks lathland..... you turned my usually miserable christmas a tiny bit better with this upload.
Your FTD have been a huge inspiration for me as I try to get into the game! I’m still very new, and making decent looking hulls still evades me, but I’m learning! I hope to one day be able to make crafts like this, love the long term videos!
Lathtrix: Proposes making a Space Battleship.
My mind: SBY theme starts playing.
I love how the craft ended up looking like the defiant around 20 minutes in
Finally! A space run done by one of my favourite FTD youtubers - this was my first interest in FTD as in the trailer years ago pre-release it had space battles etc.
you should do a run with your main craft in the atmosphere but it has no weapons while you have a secondary craft in space carrying all of your offensive capabilities
6:06 The Rat has a hard time hitting stationary targets at 50 meters in calm seas. He's probably not going to shoot down your space station.
A couple "Can you beat FtD" Challenge suggestions:
-Mecha only. (You must have either hover, driving, or sailing as the bottom part, and your weapons have to fit on a humanoid shaped craft.)
-Hijack only. (beyond the first craft being needed to be outfitted to attack another craft, you can only advance to the next zone in a vehicle that was once owned by the enemy. Minor modifications permitted, IE the new vehicle needs a heartstone, or a weapon is set up improperly/inefficiently.)
IT LOOKS LIKE USS VOYAGER AND I LOVE ITTTT!!!!
I am shocked that you both never built a hangar for the shuttle, and that the shuttle survived its near death experience. You got so lucky this run.
Thank you lathrix for my early Christmas gift
From the Depths is a series I would love to see continued in the future! And im glad to see it now!
I’m guessing the peacekeeper is a vessel mostly used for diplomacy
So that’s why there is cake :3
From the Depths is a series I wish to see continued in the future.
Man, seeing this episode makes me want to roleplay aliens invading the poor citizens.
Making a space battleship that zooms through space one minute and swoops down for an attack the next (would solve the portal crossing problem)
Plus, it would look pretty cool.
Currently binging all ftd movies. Thanks for the content, keep it up ❤
Idk why, but I really like the idea for a space craft to have its main weapons be torpedoes. Like, you drop the thing from space and have it use it’s propeller to hit the enemy. I don’t think it’d work very well, but it’d be hilarious.
From the depths is a series I’d like to see continued in the future
I was thinking about what/how would a "true" space campaign in FTD look like.
No gravity and this minimal airdrag present, no ground or water except for small asteroids, "death zone" where blocks immediately disintegrate at both -100 and 400 meters away from (theoretical) sea level.
Of course that would necessitate a whole new rooster of ships/factions.
I always dreamed about modding in such a thing but I can barely get my vehicle AI working so ain't no way.
