  • Sheldon becomes an unlikely ally when a tragedy in the community shakes Mary’s faith. Sheldon helps his mother believe there is a creator when he explains how gravity is precisely as strong as it needs to be. About Young Sheldon:
It’s 1989 and 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper has skipped four grades to start high school along with his less-intellectual older brother. As he struggles to be understood by his family, classmates and neighbors, his mother arms him with the best tool she can come up with: reminding bullies his dad is the football coach and his brother is on the team. His twin sister doesn’t share his exceptional mind, but she has a much clearer vision of what life has in store for the young genius.

I guess if you already in a religious cult, it just reinforces your preexisting beliefs.
I shuffled a deck of cards 7 times. There was a 1 in a trillion chance I got this arrangement of cards instead of any other order. Doesn't make it logical to believe there was a magical being that intended me to get this particular arrangement of cards. Any other arrangement was equally likely.

@@777Skeptic I think you're overthinking on it. Religion is mostly intuitive and you have both functions as a human. Logical and intuitive. Why not use both? I think your issue is in how some people express their feelings on what God is or isn't which isn't particularly the point.

It's cr1nge, and unless the kid is supposed to be 4|_|7i5t1c or just have a dry personality, I don't think he's a very good actor. But that could be the writer's fault. His lines aren't well written. No kid actually talks like that. It doesn't feel like a spontaneous conversation a kid would have, it feels robotic and rehearsed.

@@777Skeptic I didn't believe in God, until I cried out to him and asked him to save me if he was real. He saved my life that night and I felt his presence ,his peace and love all over me. You're one prayer away to encountering the living God but yet you choose to waste your time arguing about God not existing even though the evidence is everywhere. Wherever you look theres evidence of a creator, you yourself are evidence of a creator. But you blindly and selfishly decide that a random explosion gazillion years ago somehow created intelligent design and life that is so perfect that it makes absolutely no sense. I'm here to tell you that God is not a distant God, he is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. And he wants to have a relationship with you as father and son. There is no religion in him, he despises religion because its a human creation and its dead because there is no spirit of God in religion. That is why Religion often divides, robs and kills.

Science and Religion is strongly related just like Sheldon struggles to believe in it, I mean he doesn’t believe in God himself but he understands that there must be a creator at least.
Oh well, a catholic priest even suggested The Big Bang theory. Wait a minute? What did Genesis 1:3 said? “Let there be light, and there was light”. You might have guessed now why he has came up with the idea of Big Bang theory. Sir Isaac Newton, the one who discovered gravity, was interested with the bible.

That line about gravity is a logical fallacy. If gravity weren't exactly as is, we wouldn't be here to be able to question it, therefore it wouldn't matter. If multiverse theory is right, there could be a bunch of universes where the gravity is too high, or too low, and a bunch of them that hit just the right spot.

Logic is the side that has been ordered to follow the logical ideologies of perception. The laws that can be defined and set for understanding our own reality.
Whereas the Illogical is the side that has no order, it is chaos that cannot be ordered as it follows an illogical ideology of perception. A perception that will not follow any law and incites entropy for the sake of cosmic wonderment. A unique function of this fundamental property is that it is, in fact a paradox. One that has no order and or law, yet has one solid law, the Law of Illogics. It will forever be a Paradox, it will never have order but it is in itself the one Law that maintains the functionality of the universe to maintain that status quo.
No matter how much law and order you set in the universe, there will always be unexplainable chaos, things that you would think are impossible or outright illogical, as it cannot exist without this Law of Illogics.

The universe is perfect for what we know, but if things were different it would be perfect for another type of reality. When scientists try to find life in other planets searching for water is because life as we know needs water to exists, but other planets may have other element that supports other type of complex organism not based in carbon, their not something we know, and probably our lives wouldn’t be possible at those planets, but they are perfect for their reality. I can't agree (as an atheist) because we wouldn't be having this conversation in any universe where the constants were not suitable for life. It's like.. there are no neighborhoods in 99% of the land because most of that land is unsuitable for neighborhoods. It's not a miracle that neighborhoods are in the suitable places where they do exist.
And besides, one can't tie any kind of chain from, "something created the universe" to "and that thing that created the universe is the god Yahweh and it cares about what we do with our private parts."
In every possible universe where life was impossible, there is no life to ponder if something created that universe.
Religions prosper because they are a set of beliefs that help one group of humans survive long enough to pass on their genes often enough to sustain and grow that group of humans.
There have been many anti-procreation christian religion experiments. And they all failed within 40 years ( read up on the history of religious communes in the U.S.) .
It's cool to have your faith. It makes you happy. It may give you the hope to get through tough times. Just respect others freedom to have other faiths... or no faith.

I’m not sure if you know this or not, but the actress that played Mary in TBBT (as well as “Aunt Jackie” on the tv show Roseanne) Laurie Metcalf, is Zoe Perry’s mother; Zoe Perry is the actress that plays “Mary” on Young Sheldon.
I wasn’t too sure about Young Sheldon when it premiered but my mother started watching it and a few episodes in she asked me to watch the next episode because the actress that played Mary was familiar to her but she couldn’t place her. So that Thursday I watched it with her, and it took me about half the episode to figure it out because she was so familiar to me too. As soon as I said that’s “Aunt Jackie” from Roseanne, my mother was like “YES! I KNEW I’D SEEN HER BEFORE” and after I googled her real name, I found it was Laurie Metcalf’s daughter Zoe Perry. They are so very alike, same facial expressions, sound the same when they’re mad, it’s like they’re twins and not mother-daughter.

My Mom and I used to watch this show together and this was her absolute favorite scene on the show. Specifically when he told his Mom that she is the perfect Mom for him♥️. I am only in my 20's and Mom passed away last year💔. I told her a few times that she is and will always be the perfect Mom for me. I only wish I didn't feel this much pain every second of every day 😢. I thought our adventures were just getting started, because I'm just now at the age where I can finally start to understand all her sacrifices. And that is when I lose her💔. I know I am fortunate to have had her, but it just wasn't enough time😢😔

1:06 explains enough about why Georgie has dropped out of high school and is a dad at 17. Sure his decisions have been stupid. But you keep telling a child that they’re a negative thing, don’t be surprised when they actually become that thing. I recall an early episode where Meemaw also predicts Georgie dropping out three years before he actually does. It makes one wonder how different things could have been with some more faith in all of their children and positive reinforcement.

Sheldon being a kid makes his annoyances as an adult more forgiving because he is just a kid here. He acts like a kid. The supporting cast also provide moments like this all the time and it is a lot more homely.

Something like that happened to me twice. I forgot about the first time so God reminded me yesterday.
The first time happened when my son was about 7 years old. We had just come home from the park practicing baseball skills. I was exhausted both physically and emotionally from my jobs long work ours. I was working for what felt like a sweatshop and could see no way out at that time. At that moment my son turned to me and out of nowhere said, “You’re a great Dad, you are a kind Dad.” It was as if God knew what I needed at that exact moment and was speaking through my son. It lifted me up so much that I wrote it down and saved the memory with my other writings.
Yesterday, I was cleaning my shed after going through two back to back hurricanes. Helene and Milton both impacted the west coast of Florida where we live. Our home and our shed flooded with Milton. As I was going through my papers I found my old notes. I totally forgot my past experience and my notes however I believe God reminded me that no matter what happens, his love is always there for me. I know if he is there for me, he is there for you.

This scene always makes me cry. As a parent, all we want is the best for our kids. I get seriously shook when anything happens to a kid because I immediately put myself in the parent's shoes. The loss of a child is something I never wish on even my worst enemy. Children are sacred. I am also moved by Sheldon's concern for his Mom and tenderness with how delicate an issue it was for his Mom. He said exactly the right thing she needed to hear, at exactly the right time. There is such sweetness in him that he just wants to make his Mom whole again. Mary Cooper is a woman of faith period. Without it, I don't think she could cope. Sheldon is an atheist and moral. I love how this is displayed. My boyfriend is an atheist. He is one of the most moral people I know. I love seeing Sheldon recognize that restoring Mary's faith would make his mother whole. He chose a way to do this that so artfully respected his own beliefs and intelligence as well as speaking to her heart, where the problem lay. Well done, mother and son, for bridging the gap between faith and skepticism, the mind and the heart to meet in the middle ❤️ together

This is really sweet and well written because at first, Sheldon tries to fix the problem with the way that he approaches the world, with logic. If ever he was having an issue, he would need logic to bring him back, which is precisely why he first uses logic with his momma.
But seeing that it didn’t work, he switches his approach to emotion, which he knew would help his mom, and did!
Very sweet scene, brought tears to my eyes

As an atheist, that scene really hit me hard.
I am the son of a preacher and have been an atheist for most of my life. I wanted to believe but I just could never wrap my head around the current incarnation of the one god. When a friend of mine lost his faith, I realized that there is a huge difference between realizing and accepting that there is no god and losing your faith in god. The first is an epiphany the other is the loss of hope, which is a tragedy unto itself.

@@The.life-long.learner Sure, but the argument is circular. If there is no possibility of the creation of a creator, how is the creation of a human possible? It certainly doesn't solve the progenitor problem, but to postulate that human intelligence and consciousness is accidental and also the highest form seems a little optimistic to me. My concern is why would a God have much interest in us at all? That being said, humans simply don't have any sort of capacity to understand infinity or pretty much anything outside of our corporeal existence. So whatever there is, or isn't, we can't know it. We can't even think in four dimensional space, except maybe for very simple shapes, and a couple of savants.
