About Young Sheldon:

Sheldon's mom always seemed to give a very realistic and motherly feel to the role. She did a terrific job!!
You mean the actor? Yes she did a good job. The actual character? Absolutely not. She babied Sheldon and gave him basically whatever he wanted. Whenever there was a conflict with Sheldon and his siblings she always took Sheldon’s side without hearing what happened. She didn’t even know what Missy was moving on from when Missy burned her notebook.

Anyway, the times she didn’t give Sheldon what he wanted are insignificant compared to all the times that she gave in. The times you listed where she took Missy’s side well in one they weren’t fighting so it doesn’t really count here. In the other she actually took the time to learn what happened before giving punishment, something she’d hardly ever done before hand. And something she never did after

Adult Sheldon is literally traumatized by that experience, by his father coming home drunk and by his parents fighting. Even if Young Sheldon TV Show tries not to touch on those topics that much, u can clearly see how bad the father was by what Sheldon says in Big Bang Theory

You know I went into watching the show expecting it to be a cheap knockoff oven already formulaic sitcom. I'm pleasantly surprised how well-written this is and how great the actors are for the roles

Was gonna comment this exact thing. I was in my teens when the original show was starting, and by the time this came, I just rolled my eyes at another greedy spin off. I can’t believe it’s as good as it is. It still has some pretty hokey moments, and uses a lot of worn out tropes, but it’s almost comfortably cringey. It definitely feels self aware, and I really enjoy the more serialized aspects of it, such as Georgie’s kid and Meemaw’s businesses. Best part hands down however, was the shift from multi-cam to single cam. I hate the look of multi-cam productions, everything symmetrical and staged to the “audience”. It always bugs me that multi can sitcoms only allow for rooms with 3 sides. The single cam approach makes this feel much more personal.
I somehow find George and Mary so cute when they both waved at sheldon 🥺❤️

Because Shelldon has been taught that every one of his obsessive rules must be followed, and his parents will go out of their way to favor him. He is infamous for being inflexible, which as an adult drove away every roommate before Leonard.
GEORGE SR. is a very good father for one so unhappy with how he ended up with his life ( dreaming of playing football, stuck as a football coach)

I remember sitting in the library at school watchingthis launch. The space shuttle blew up. Teachers collected us and back we went to class. Teachers left the discussions for our parents to handle. Which it was never discussed, even though it was over my home state. Around that time a deadly tornado swept a whole town, i was from.. my parents spoke of it but only what was appropriate. Now at 45, I'm learning the details of the tornado. Glad i didn't hear about it as a kid.
No it didn't you are wrong on the time frame. Challenger blew up on launch in 1986, Columbia on descent in 2003. This first season is set in 1989-1990.

To be honest I think that Sheldon is actually responsible for putting a lot of strain on the family, by no means am I saying that he did it on purpose, but the way that he is and acts just naturally did it, hell even Paige parents struggled with her and she was actually socially aware, Sheldon is Just a difficult kid

Hey the parents have to give Sheldon credit for already waking up and packed for the trip ready to go! I always did when my parents took me on trips when I was a little girl through teenager years! And I still wake up early at 7am/7:30am to pack for trips and take care of my dog and get breakfast going before I leave.
My parents always had to take me on trips kicking & screaming because I did not wanna go 😆

My Mom and grandfather were both Psychologists, so they understood toddler and child feelings
