Fantastic to see this again. Descent was the first game that had me totally hooked. I used to see those little robots in my sleep. Nowadays, I’m hooked on Death Stranding and Assassin’s Creed. Thank you so much for sharing this. As I recall, Quad Lasers were the best weapons.
I played Descent singleplayer aswell as mutliplayer with a friend in 1995 when this game came out. The 3D graphics music, levels/maps, the atmospheric music, we felt it was revolutionary back then, just like DOOM. I have this in my "FPS history" playlist, but the game's genre is actually called "360 degree 3D action", a subgenre of first person shooters with its very own unique style, because you can fly into any direction with total freedom of movement on any of the three XYZ axis. Descent also came with a level editor. Today 25+ years later I think there are still some modders for this game.
@@CoronaZombie A superb game that was well ahead of its time. I got my copy as part of a games bundle with a new Packard-Bell PC in 1995. I never bought Descent 2, but I did buy Descent 3. Despite the improved graphics and choice of ships, it didn’t seem nearly as much fun as the original. Descent will always be one of my all-time favourite games.
I can echo the same thing. I remember playing this as a kid (14ish), and I would see it when I was trying to fall asleep at night! I had to look it up to see how it looks now!
Dude I remember playing this when I was a kid maaaan bro I remember me and my mom and my sister all getting pissed because we all wanted to play it and wanted our turn lol my mom was actually pretty decent at this game She would hog the damn computer and play for hours lol Memories...
I remember this was the first game I played where I got motion sickness from playing it after a while. I'd have to moderate my play, but it was such a cool game.
I fucking love this game. I would get lost for hours, I had the flight stick and everything. I wish I knew what I was doing at the time. Still had a blast.
I remember as soon as I got home from school and finished my homework my butt would go immediately to the PC and play the crap out of this. It was addictive.
I remember playing descent while listening to descent from fear factory. As well as many other songs from various bands. Like megadeth. Ahh my youth. How i miss you.
Had a demo of this on our old Mac in like 99, never could get very far (I was three and couldn't read English) but having recently picked up and gotten hooked on Overload I really wanna try this game again, it's probably the first video game I ever played!
Wow......i liked this game. ....it was a time of doom heretic hexen decsend duke nukem......nice memories......we had 486sx dx/dx2 lucky of us had 486dx4 100mhz )))) we used 4mg ram and the richest used 8mg ram))).....we had 80mg hdd))))). Kids of today will never understand how we "survived" :))))
You're way too damn slow!. I used to play this game in a P3 450 Mhz 256 K RAM Later o I overclocked the CPU near 1 Ghz. Best way to play it is with a Joystick. Once I was able to kill Bandit (The Robot that appears from nowhere and steals your weapons).
