Yes I have 4th stage lung cancer that spread to my bones & brain- I went to many drs before I was diagnosed- dismissed many times - even by a nurse in ER because I fainted - because I had no fever she was going to send me home- I said I’m not leaving without a C-Scan & tests . My lungs lit up like a Christmas tree & they admitted me into the hospital- at first they thought it was tuberculosis but, my bronchial test’s biopsy said it was cancer . May , God help all of us going through this .

I only use Dr.'s for diagnostics. For healing/recovery I go the other way, natural, herbs, alternative methods. I do many things, (herbs, fermented foods, supplements, organic food) EVERYDAY. YOU MUST DO THESE THINGS EVERYDAY for long term health and vitality. Our food in the US is tainted but you can learn where to buy and what to buy for long term abundant life.
My daughter also saw multiple doctors and went to the ER multiple times, and her symptoms were totally dismissed. It wasn't until a nurse practitioner in an urgent care center actually LOOKED at her bloodwork and test results from previous visits that anyone paid attention. She told my daughter to go straight to the nearest ER, and called them to say she was sending in a likely cancer patient. My daughter was diagnosed the next day with stage 4 ovarian cancer. Thank God for the NP's who are actually concerned about the patients they see.

Ooooh...Ovarian cancer is so hard to detect in the early stages 😢 if ever 😢 I hope that she will have a lovely time with her loved ones as long as possible ❤ And I have also heard people surviving stage 4 ovarian cancer!!! So where there is life, there is always hope! ❤
As a nurse, I am embarrassed of our profession some times. There is a lot of good, but a whole lot of bad too. I am so happy you advocated for yourself!!
I went back and forth to the doctor with a range of symptoms, chief of which was a change of sensation on my left cheek.She got quite irritated with me, because had ‘a lot of issues’ she said a dentist would have to take care of the numbness in my lip….! I had the usual blood tests and a CT scan to check my sinuses. Not once did sheTake my blood pressure enough was enough and I decided to go to another doctor Who immediately sent me for an MRI and took my blood pressure which was skyhigh long story short I had had a stroke and I have energy I had an aneurysm on my anterior communicating artery thankfully I have had treatment to clear my carotid artery and had the aneurysm coiled this woman is still practising I don’t know how
It’s called God complex and unfortunately plenty of, but not all, doctors suffer from this condition. Doctors are like the pilots of the plane who get all the credit. When in reality it’s the engineers, technicians, mechanics, plane builders, and support staff that keep a plane going and more importantly safe. New research and medication are developed by scientists, not doctors.
Just sad how many others were dismissed trusting their Dr & passed away lack of treatment, so pleased your Nurse Practitioner took action, a hug to her as well ❤❤
My husband also was not diagnosed until it reached stage 4 lung cancer. He was sick for a year prior to diagnosis and went to many doctors. He was told he had a prostate infection and was given antibiotics and sent home. He had a low grade fever during that year ,we now know it was due to tumor fevers. He finally saw a different pulmonologist who listened to his chest and immediately put him into the hospital for a CT scan. He was told he had stage 4 lung cancer and had 1 year to live. He received chemotherapy during that time at Sloan Kettering. During that time it was found that the cancer had spread to the stomach. I was told that it was a very aggressive form of cancer and he was given 2 weeks. I brought him home with in home hospice. He passed 2 weeks later. That was 13 years ago. He was my best friend.😪
I am considered a bad patient we argue all the time. Because I want them to do test to rule out things. I research. I was a nurse, before my cancer. They think I am playing doctor!!
You would think living in a time where medicine is supposed to be as advanced as it's ever been that so many people would be dismissed, missed diagnosed, overlooked, ignored, etc however I believe we're also living in a time where egos are also bigger than they've ever been in the medical field & actually listening to a patient has become a thing of the past! Just like "good old detective work" in the legal field is what used to really solve crimes, I believe that the same "detective work" is required in the medical field. Perhaps people have become too reliant on computers, technology, etc to solve everything therefore they ignore what a test/machine can't/won't tell them! Many doctors refuse to believe that a patient knows their body better than they do. They have GOT TO STOP putting everyone under the same umbrella. No two people are going to present with the same symptoms that have lung cancer.
in my first months of cancer I cried every night when the sun went down and my husband asked why I was crying I said because the day is over and I'll never get it back again. he pointed out that none of us will ever get it back either and that helped me alot. I totally know what she is saying about the small things and the big things suddenly everything in your life becomes precious so in a way I'm blessed to live in that knowledge. Jenny Apple died of that she was only 35, 2 small children, she had never smoked either. They have to stop thinking if you are a non-smoker, then you can't have lung cancer.
I followed Jenny's experience. So sad. But you're right, so many people who never smoked get stage 4 lung cancer. They neat earlier signs bc stage 4 is (almost) too late!
I have a friend that was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer only children get and they never live long. She had surgery but was told she had 6 months to live. She did live and is still alive 40 years later. She also had lung cancer later and she never smoked. Praying for you to keep having a wonderful outcome.
@@monicawmonica I m a retired paediatric RN. It is known that very occasionally the boys own immune system kicks in and heals itself. This was happening even before the days of chemo. It is quite rare however. People need to remember that medicine is not and never will be an exact science.
@@monicawmonica So true that those instance of "miracles" (if you can call them that) are so very few, rare, and almost statically non-existent. Possibly cancer type was misdiagnosed.
What a strong, enlightened woman. Just imagine her ending up being diagnosed at stage IV even though she advocated for herself. Now think about how many folks won't do that and just nod at whatever their doc throws at them. It's the most important thing when it comes to your health to listen to your body and keep knocking sense into skulls that won't listen until they do.
You need to keep in mind that the process of diagnosis is driven by probability and ruling out a higher probability diagnosis before investigating the next lower probability diagnosis. No doubt it’s helpful if one has enough knowledge and self-advocacy to push doctors if one feels like their diagnostic process isn’t delivering the results one wants to see.
@@roch145 Yes, think horses, not zebras, I get it. But I've seen so many diagnoses driven by error and oversight that I will make sure things run the way they're supposed to when it comes to my health. I may be a layman, but I stay on top of things and keep myself in the loop. Whenever I talk to medical professionals, they notice, and that alone makes them a bit more considerate when it comes to medical decisions. Mind you, I don't try to be pain and come off snooty just because I can google stuff. That's not how it works. But being informed and second-guessing things can sometimes tip the scales in your favor, especially when it comes to malignancies.
@@Noodles.FreeUkraine Being an informed consumer of any service is always beneficial. Car repairs, home repairs, healthcare are best consumed by knowledgeable customers. However, diagnosing cancer is a bit more complicated than diagnosing a misfiring spark plug. So there’s more of a tendency, if not necessity, to rely on medical professionals and their knowledge and experience to drive you in the right direction. Sometimes those care providers fall short and unless you can advocate effectively for yourself, you will suffer. I’ve been through advanced cancer treatments and I know firsthand the challenges of being a cancer patient.
When I hear your story all I can think of is all the people who have passed away because they didn't have a doctor who really cared or just didn't know what steps to take to get the help they needed. You are so brave and a blessing to those who may be going through the same thing. You are right you still have things to do on this earth. I pray you have many more years.
I can all CRNPs are great, but I can vouch for mine. Since I have an HMO, all care starts with my primary. A few years ago, I was apprehensive when I found out my new primary was a nurse practitioner. Well, I had never before had care like she provided. She recently moved away and her patients are devastated. I'll be seeing a new one at next checkup. I'm not too concerned because I am able to advocate for myself. I feel bad for people who can't do that for themselves and have no one to do it for them. And my heart bleeds for those who don't have health insurance.
I’m not a fan of MDs or NPs because I’m a long time chronic illness sufferer and have been gas lit, mistreated and misdiagnosed by both, most recently as of yesterday, I was treated horrifically by a nurse practitioner. I have a graduate degree in public policy and am an activist by trade which comes in handy because I am constantly advocating for myself in the medical community. Please lookup Dr Thomas Seyfried! He is curing or giving people with brain cancer. People who were given weeks to live are now living cancer free for many years! Just by ketosis! He is an amazing human being and thetop cancer researcher in the world. You can find him on UA-cam to start. He is out of Boston and has clinics going there! It's worth looking into!
Everyone says not to Google your symptoms but I do it anyway. I go into my doctor’s office with my own diagnosis and the diagnostics I think I need and then ask for them. I once diagnosed myself after two separate doctors told me nothing was wrong! I ended up needing surgery.
Yes I had an episode of TGA, which is a 24 hour memory loss and I went to the emergency room and they had no idea what was wrong after many tests but then the next morning I just googled my symptoms and figured out what it was! Doctors are so clueless it’s scary !
Your story is so similar to my daughter's. 43, never smoker, went to Dr. many times with no answers. Then a CT with contrast showed the tumors. Liver needle biopsy. Stage 4 because it had spread to liver, bone, and brain. NSCLC, with the EGFR mutation. She is 3 months into her treatment with Tagrisso and had radiation to brain tumors and feeling much, much better! It is so encouraging to see how you are fighting your way through this and succeeding. There is hope. And its true that none of us are promised tomorrow, so live each day with joy. You are only still here because of your own advocacy. I am impressed and you rock! I hope you continue to encourage others who are meek to follow through and question everything! Doctors do not know everything-a rare presentation really throws them. A lot of cancers mimic so many other illnesses and at a young age-lung cancer, colon cancer, etc…it isn’t even on their radar. My mom was diagnosed when she was 65 with non small cell lung cancer stage 3A. It was in the lower lobe of her left lung. She had multiple doctor appointments and was diagnosed with pneumonia. She was prescribed antibiotics and steroids. Was finally sent to the ER and the doctor realized it was cancer. Her cancer had not spread and she had the lobe removed. She is an active 82 year old. Good luck.
After losing my mother and brother to cancer I have little faith in the medical community when treating patients. In each case proper diagnosis was delayed for 3+ months before the cancer was discovered. Now my sister was just informed that she has stage 4 colon cancer which has spread to her liver. So little faith in all of you college educated folks that become complacent when treating your patients while choosing to ignore what they try to share. Thank God that you kept up the fight. I totally agree 💯 with you! I also lost a little brother to cancer, a mother who survived double breast/lymph node cancer, and a grandfather who had spinal cancer, two grandmothers who survived uterine cancer, and I often worry about who's next in my family; hopefully not my children or grandchildren!😮

Keep fighting, don't give up. Stop any sugar consumption. My wife's mother died from dementia in May 2023. My wife was diagnosed with stage 4 pulmonary Adenocarcinoma at the end of May 2023 and she died August 11, 2023. She gave up. Listening to your story brought back a lot of memories. Keep fighting.
I’m 65 and was diagnosed with NSCLC in January. I had a what I assumed was an upper respiratory infection in Dec. only symptom was a really hard dry cough. My husband insisted I see my PCP and she was fantastic. She immediately sent me for an X-ray and CT scan. Upon getting the results she made me an appointment with the Pulmonologist the next day. He sent me to get a PET scan and after those results sent me to get the nodule biopsied. It came back as NSCLC stage 1. I had never smoked and like you was physically active and diet conscious. Living what I felt was a healthy lifestyle. I had my upper lobe surgically removed along with 28 lymph nodes. After surgery it was discovered that cancer had spread to one of the nodes outside the lung which made the cancer stage 3. I had 4 rounds of chemo therapy. My oncologist has been fantastic and I can’t say enough wonderful things about every doctor and the cancer center I went to. I also have the EFGR mutation so will be on tragrisso for the next 3 years. My story seems to be the exception when it comes to non smoker lung cancer diagnosis. I was the one who went to the doctor asking for an inhaler because I was convinced I had developed exercise induced asthma. My PCP was the one who insisted on the testing before giving me one. I remember leaving her office mad because I didn’t want those annoying tests that was just going to prove me right. Boy was I wrong. I wish there were more stories like mine and less like yours. Unfortunately this type of cancer is on the rise for women who never smoked of all ages and doctors need to be aware of this. I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

Thank you for sharing. My sister had your EXACT journey, doctor after doctor misdiagnosed in every step. It wasn’t until her condition worsened, the ER discovered something was wrong. She was 37 at her diagnosis. She is now 40, 2 kids, married and doing well. Healthy eater, non smoker. Her cancer traveled from her lung primary to her spine. Targeted therapy through Cleveland Clinic has been a saving grace. The battle is far from over, but there is hope. It sure takes a toll on family. Keep bringing awareness to this, you will save lives…I promise you.

Little by little I am standing up for myself more often, but you have inspired me to push harder when I am sure something isn’t right. I saw blood in the toilet (2007) went to my doctor, he did an examination and told me I had a small pile. I called into were I played golf and bumped into a guy who was 80 and had just gone thru bowel cancer. I told him what I had found and some other symptoms and he advised me to get a second opinion. So I was a marine engineer and had a special unit were we could get treated in the NHS but fast tracked. I lived in Belfast the Hospital was in London, so my doctor referred me to the hospital I flew over they did a colonoscopy took a biopsy, and was told I had Rectal Cancer a 5 cm tumour. So I had a bit of luck it was found early, and that they would operate, in Northern Ireland they tended not to Operate as the tumour was very deep. I had the operation and nearly died twice, surgeon cut a main vain going thru my pelvic area down my left leg. I recovered and they said they had got all the cancer. On my way home, I had to get a train from London to Scotland and get a Ferry home they would not let me fly. While waiting to get on the ferry and old woman asked what happened to me (I was in a wheel chair) I told her, she asked had I gotten chemo, I said no they found it early, she said it will come back again, she had been nurse to a top cancer consultant. In 2011 I noticed blood coming from the mucus in the toilet ( I had a colostomy bag) so it had come back Surgeon said he could not go into my pelvic area again he would kill me. Only way was to remove tumour was by removing my rectum, but to do that the tumour would need to shrink, oncologist said this was very rare. Had 25 sessions of Radiotherapy in Belfast, tumour shrunk, had operation in London to remove my rectum (12 hours) a dangerous operation but my attitude was if I die on the table I would know nothing about it, if I refused the op I would be dead in 18 months, here I am 13 years later.

Hugs to you !! I was stage 3 with in my nodes(Armpit)a large amt.. Survivor of breast cancer. My docs didn't listen to me. I told my doc something was wrong. He said trust me you don't have cancer. It wouldn't hurt if it was!! I think patients know themselves better than anyone. The docs need to start listening to their patients

I couldnt agree more! In 2009 I experienced severe pain in my lower abdomen. They insisted I go home but I refused. Just as well because my bowel had perforated (peritonitis). I had bowel cancer which metastasised to my liver. Had I gone home I would not have survived. I am still here 15 years later.
I’m stage 2 oropharyngeal carcinoma. I’m half way through chemotherapy and radiation. The only reason they found my cancer was I demanded a scope down my throat. Then I demanded a CT scan with dye. Two days later I was in same day surgery getting a biopsy. Advocate for yourself!
Exactly. I was treated for bronchitis repeatedly until I got the CT scan. Xrays were useless until it was huge - 5cm lump and 7cm lymph node (largest one). Surgery not possible. Prognosis pathetic.
@@kathleenmcbride1471 I had a never ending sinus infection and what I thought was an inflamed tonsil. They wanted to put me on another antibiotic (I had already been on 4). I wasn’t playing that game. I wish you the best of luck! Fight like a Pitbull and MAKE them do what’s necessary. Most people die from these cancers because doctors brush them off and when it is found, it’s too late. We need change!
@@angelabordack I have done all the treatments that are applicable to my case so far. I read everything and got an excellent 2nd opinion at Moffitt. No mutations or markers so no targeted or immunotherapy is appropriate which is very unfortunate. That left the old chemo and radiation - exact same treatment as they have had for many years with historically dismal results. However, I did it all - fought through all that and now just having periodic scans. There is nothing left to do. A terrible waiting game. Trying to keep my mind on other things and enjoy the little things I can still do - limited by shortness of breath. I am OK. I get a lot of encouragement from others fighting cancer (example Dr. Dan and Shannen Dougherty among many) so it has been very hard recently as both are passed in the last week. Stay strong!
I had the same diagnosis as yours, told six months, egfr exon 19, the mets followed the same pathway on the same medication. going on 4 1/2 years. I have fought this alone, all I have is my faith. Continued health for you, thanks for your story.

So much of what you have to say regarding being dismissed and having multiple diagnoses before the actual diagnosis of cancer was found is exactly what my 38-year-old daughter-in-law is going through right now. She just found out she has stage three lung cancer non-small cell and she’s been in and out of the hospital. Currently, she’s back in the hospital because of a collapsed lung. Sadly, she’s only had one chemo treatment. We are hoping that her lung will reinflate and she can get some treatment. She’s very strong like you.
My mom went through this, her doctors didn’t believe her or take her seriously. By the time they diagnosed her it was to late. Her body was already shutting down she passed 2 weeks after being diagnosed. 59 years old. Non small cell lung cancer, never smoked.
My mom‘s lung cancer spread to her brain had a stroke, the doctors blamed it on an AFib heart. She had migraines daily. Every time she went to the doctor or ER they would just give her a migraine cocktail and send her away. Turned out to be lung cancer when someone finally listened she was no longer eating and her body was shutting down. Cancer had spread to spine and brain. 😢 I wish I would have asked more questions, I believed the doctors every time they told me she was fine.

Self advocacy is THE most important thing you can do . Yes you made a good point what about people who don’t have any advocacy of some knowledge it’s sad . As a Nurse practitioner and a lung cancer survivor myself I listen to my patients . I too was diagnosed during Covid and given the run around until I persisted on a ct scan then Bronchoscopy and was stage 3 . The healthcare professionals need to be more aware that age and smoking is no longer a factor in lung cancer
It’s insane that you coughed blood and yet the doctors did not take you seriously! That’s the number 1 and classic symptom of lung cancer! They should have right away sent you to have a biopsy. I wish you well, and yes, we need to always advocate for our own good.
Yesterday I was diagnosed with stage 4 non-smoking lung cancer. I thought I had asthma, thankfully my GP sent me for a routine x-ray. My advice is - if you haven't had an x-ray - always insist on getting one. It is inspiring to hear Leah's wisdom, and thank you for sharing your thoughts on statistics. There is no such thing as "non-smoking lung cancer". Non-small cell lung cancer affects both smokers and non-smokers. There are no types of lung cancer that affect only non-smokers. Lung cancer is the number one cancer killer of both men and women, and kills both smokers and non-smokers.
My dad was diagnosed with mycoplasma pneumonia. It wouldn't go away. He even ASKED about lung cancer because he was 80 and had been a smoker. BUT since he hadn't been a smoker for more than 40 years, they dismissed him. Yup. Stage 4 lung cancer.😢
You really did the right thing, never let them dismiss you . Thank God it was not SCLC, it took my friend in 2 mos.. .as an RN, in critical care, I have had to stand up to physicians for my patients well being, family members also, and friends..you really can be in uncharted waters w/o some knowledgeable at your side! Leah, thank you for your story. I was diagnosed stage 2B breast cancer last year and then during scans found kidney cancer. I'm Ok for now but worry I'm going to miss signs telling me that my cancer has returned. However, at 65 I'm going to keep on and see what this life has in store for me. My Dad was diagnosed at age 65 with Non Squamous Small Cell Lung Cancer, and by the GRACE & MERCY of God, Dad lived 18 years! He passed away at age 83, almost 7 years ago. His diagnosis was in the year 2000, before we had genetic markers testing. I applaud your tenacity and determination to get the care you needed and deserved. Put your faith in God and your hand in His hand, and He will never leave you or forsake you. My prayers are with you and your family.
@elavarasirajendran5760 It was stage four, but the surgeons did not find that out until after they opened Dad up! None of the testing showed that the cancer had spread to his heart, and to his larynx specifically his voice box. God did a miracle in my dad's life, and he's still in the miracle business, you just have to have faith! Prayers for you or whoever is suffering with this disease.

This is all too common being fobbed off as 'not a candidate for lung cancer '. Not only Jenny Appleford, look at all the other, mostly women in their prime, stories on here. There's no shortage. I am nearly 65 & it would be devastating for me to learn I had terminal cancer but if I was young like so many of the women who's stories are on here & had young children I'd fall apart. It would be the most traumatic thing ever to think my kids would be without their Mother. I remember thinking about my mortality as a Mom to young children actually & I knew I had to try my best to be healthy bcos my kids need me. My heart truly goes out to all people who may be terminal, especially young Mom's.

Radon exposure is a massive cause of lung cancer that few people know anything about. You can be living in a house with high radon levels that are the equivalent of smoking hundreds of cigarettes every single week and not know about it.

Sending you blessings. I was going through similar issues. Not related to lungs, but my pancreas. I literally had my CT Scan cancelled the evening before I was going, because some insurance administrator said, “as a non smoker, it’s unlikely this test is needed.” I went into a rage. If I were a smoker, I’d have been welcome with no questions asked. Insanity.
Hopefully the doctor appealed and figured out "what to say" on the request so it was later approved! A doctor may need a brain CT scan or MRI for some reason (to check for metastasis from a separate cancer site). They think it will likely be rejected for approval, they may ask if you have headaches. If so, say yes! I didn't have brain metastasis, but did have a rather large unruptured brain aneurysm. After breast cancer treatment, an endoscopic neurosurgeon placed a stent in the brain aneurysm to prevent future rupture. Also, the breast cancer that was initially thought to be stage IV (because lung CT scan looked much worse than it actually was) turned out to be stage I. God works in mysterious ways.

I have stage two lung cancer, I was lucky that my primary doctor was on the ball and sent me to specialist right away. I’ve finished chemotherapy and waiting to start the same pill you are on. I thank my doctor for keeping an eye on a small nodule on my lung. They removed the top part of my right lung , then chemo.
Amazing story. FWIW, my wife had advanced stage 4 met breast cancer (bones/lymph/liver/lungs/brain). Super long story short, after trying everything (conventional and alternative) we combined an immune checkpoint inhibitor (low single digit success rate used standalone) with fasting, very high dose melatonin, whole plant based diet and attention to gut/microbiota health and in 5 months she was completely cancer free per CT/PET/MRI and 2 Signaterra genetic tests for the first time in 10 years. All the above mentioned adjuncts have lots of science behind them and are very synergistic. If your Dr's are not able to offer additional options you may want to investigate what we did. To add a little detail. Again, long, long story short. After 10 years of research (pubmed/NIH) my wife and I came to the realization that cancer is not about the cancer cell but about the immune system and gut microbiota. Everyone has cancer cells present in them. The immune system and microbiota are the systems that keep cancer in check. When they fail cancer can grow uncontrolled. AIDS (broken immune system) patients who die as a consequence of AIDS most often die of cancer. Someone with cancer is not much different than someone with AIDS. It's just not called AIDS. There is now ample evidence (both mainstream and alternative) of how completely effective the immune system can be as compared to chemo in eradicating cancer if it can be sensitized to the cancer and the cancer defense mechanisms can be degraded enough to facilitate immune involvement which is what happend with my wife. Chemo unfortunately impairs immune function and degrades the microbiome making a full resolution more difficult to achieve.
Thank you for spreading this info. Many will tell me off of certain sites for sharing serious science backed natural alternatives to killer disease including cancer. But the science is there. My daughter knows I’m not doing chemo. Unfortunately the $$$ involved in doing serious protocol with nutrition, supplements, therapies etc, is not for broke, bedridden, unemployed people w no medical insurance- so, don’t get cancer in America, without family, spouse or inheritance to chip in💰😢

@@pm2886 Yes, but it unfortunately does not have a high success rate when used standalone. The body has to be in the proper biochemical state to give it the best chance of working. The scientific lit bares this out but few oncologists are aware of this. Ultimately it is the immune system that is the best answer to a full and long lasting recovery.

Such an inspirational lady. I've been suffering for 4 months with breathlessness and tender chest pain in the ribs, total exhaustion. Ive aged 20 years in 16 weeks! The doctors won't listen when I tell them I'm usually fit and work out etc. You feel like you are banging your head against a wall. I'm 55 non smoker. In the UK. You have to be almost on your last legs to get a CT scan, unless you have money of course... I'm scared I have lung cancer as my brother died a couple years ago of cancer. My poor mum couldn't cope with losing me as well.

I REALLY needed to hear this. After going to the doctor every other week for the past month with no answers, I am on the brink of feeling like I'm crazy. I'm only 50 yrs old! I just turned 50 & I have ALWAYS been one to get up & DO! WHATEVER needs to be done & whatever doesn't need to be done, I'll find something to do but as of the past couple of months I just don't have the energy & I now have pain so severe in my left shoulder that I can't even lift a frying pan! Some of my blood work has come back borderline like my anemia & vitamin D but I know something is wrong! My bones literally hurt! Idk what else to do. I'm not one to stand down but I'm also not confrontational either. However I watched my Dad pass away from liver cancer 6yrs ago & I refuse to go out like that. I won't stop until someone tells me why I'm feeling like this & what we can do about it. Thank YOU for speaking up! This encourages people like myself. Keeping you in my thoughts & prayers.
Have you gone through menopause? Some of the things you mentioned can be related to menopause. But the best way to get help I have learned is the ER. Your regular doctor may dismiss your symptoms. If you feel you need someone to get you help go right away.

@@Ioncandi I have also had episodes of waking up drenched in sweat! That's only happened about a dozen times. My mother also had ovarian cancer when I was 14. My platelets came back elevated also. About 2yrs ago I noticed a "pea size lump" in my left armpit. I went to the doctor & they dismissed it as "fatty tissue". Well, it has tripled in size since & that is the same arm that this excruciating pain is in. The pain that I have in that armpit is so bad that I haven't slept on that side in over 2yrs. The pain between that armpit & elbow is so much worse & nonstop. Whenever I stand up it takes me a minute to get acclimated because my bones literally ache all over. The "all over" pain isn't as severe as the arm pain but it's there! I'm have a high pain tolerance but this is something that I just cannot take much longer. I have broken down crying twice to my husband. I need someone to do a scan ASAP! You know when you "just know" something isn't right? That's how I feel & I've rarely felt this way in my life. I PRAY that I'm wrong.
@@paige6028 Maybe your lymph nodes are off? I would get a scan. A friend of my bf's at his work his wife ended up having cancer under her arm in that area. Please get it checked out. No one should have you wait until it's too late. Good luck.

We love 45 minutes from a "world renowned hospital" & I've been contemplating on making the drive the vs going to our local hospital. If I said we live near the "city of medicine" you could easily Google it & know where I'm talking about. We do have many great, well-known hospitals & schools of medicine around us however they've all seemed to really decline since covid. I will definitely be going soon for a scan though! Yes I have 4th stage lung cancer that spread to my bones & brain- I went to many drs before I was diagnosed- dismissed many times - even by a nurse in ER because I fainted - because I had no fever she was going to send me home- I said I’m not leaving without a C-Scan & tests . My lungs lit up like a Christmas tree & they admitted me into the hospital- at first they thought it was tuberculosis but, my bronchial test’s biopsy said it was cancer . May , God help all of us going through this .

I only use Dr.'s for diagnostics. For healing/recovery I go the other way, natural, herbs, alternative methods. I do many things, (herbs, fermented foods, supplements, organic food) EVERYDAY. YOU MUST DO THESE THINGS EVERYDAY for long term health and vitality. Our food in the US is tainted but you can learn where to buy and what to buy for long term abundant life.

My daughter also saw multiple doctors and went to the ER multiple times, and her symptoms were totally dismissed. It wasn't until a nurse practitioner in an urgent care center actually LOOKED at her bloodwork and test results from previous visits that anyone paid attention. She told my daughter to go straight to the nearest ER, and called them to say she was sending in a likely cancer patient. My daughter was diagnosed the next day with stage 4 ovarian cancer. Thank God for the NP's who are actually concerned about the patients they see.

I went back and forth to the doctor with a range of symptoms, chief of which was a change of sensation on my left cheek.She got quite irritated with me, because had ‘a lot of issues’ she said a dentist would have to take care of the numbness in my lip….! I had the usual blood tests and a CT scan to check my sinuses. Not once did sheTake my blood pressure enough was enough and I decided to go to another doctor Who immediately sent me for an MRI and took my blood pressure which was skyhigh long story short I had had a stroke and I have energy I had an aneurysm on my anterior communicating artery thankfully I have had treatment to clear my carotid artery and had the aneurysm coiled this woman is still practising I don’t know how
It’s called God complex and unfortunately plenty of, but not all, doctors suffer from this condition. Doctors are like the pilots of the plane who get all the credit. When in reality it’s the engineers, technicians, mechanics, plane builders, and support staff that keep a plane going and more importantly safe. New research and medication are developed by scientists, not doctors.
Just sad how many others were dismissed trusting their Dr & passed away lack of treatment, so pleased your Nurse Practitioner took action, a hug to her as well ❤❤

My husband also was not diagnosed until it reached stage 4 lung cancer.
He was sick for a year prior to diagnosis and went to many doctors.
He was told he had a prostate infection and was given antibiotics and sent home.
He had a low grade fever during that year ,we now know it was due to tumor fevers.
He finally saw a different pulmonologist who listened to his chest and immediately put him into the hospital for a CT scan.
He was told he had stage 4 lung cancer and had 1 year to live.
He received chemotherapy during that time at Sloan Kettering.
During that time it was found that the cancer had spread to the stomach.
I was told that it was a very aggressive form of cancer and he was given 2 weeks.
I brought him home with in home hospice.
He passed 2 weeks later.
That was 13 years ago.
He was my best friend.😪
I am considered a bad patient we argue all the time. Because I want them to do test to rule out things. I research. I was a nurse, before my cancer. They think I am playing doctor!!
You would think living in a time where medicine is supposed to be as advanced as it's ever been that so many people would be dismissed, missed diagnosed, overlooked, ignored, etc however I believe we're also living in a time where egos are also bigger than they've ever been in the medical field & actually listening to a patient has become a thing of the past! Just like "good old detective work" in the legal field is what used to really solve crimes, I believe that the same "detective work" is required in the medical field. Perhaps people have become too reliant on computers, technology, etc to solve everything therefore they ignore what a test/machine can't/won't tell them! Many doctors refuse to believe that a patient knows their body better than they do. They have GOT TO STOP putting everyone under the same umbrella. No two people are going to present with the same symptoms that have lung cancer.
Just like my mom always says; doctors do not like it when you question them.
I mean, its only OUR BODY after all 🤦♂️🙄🤦♀️
in my first months of cancer I cried every night when the sun went down and my husband asked why I was crying I said because the day is over and I'll never get it back again. he pointed out that none of us will ever get it back either and that helped me alot. I totally know what she is saying about the small things and the big things suddenly everything in your life becomes precious so in a way I'm blessed to live in that knowledge. Jenny Apple died of that she was only 35, 2 small children, she had never smoked either. They have to stop thinking if you are a non-smoker, then you can't have lung cancer.
I followed Jenny's experience. So sad. But you're right, so many people who never smoked get stage 4 lung cancer. They neat earlier signs bc stage 4 is (almost) too late!
My son died in January at 32, of stage 4 lung cancer , he too was a non smoker

I have a friend that was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer only children get and they never live long. She had surgery but was told she had 6 months to live. She did live and is still alive 40 years later. She also had lung cancer later and she never smoked.

@@monicawmonica I m a retired paediatric RN. It is known that very occasionally the boys own immune system kicks in and heals itself. This was happening even before the days of chemo. It is quite rare however.
People need to remember that medicine is not and never will be an exact science.
@@monicawmonica So true that those instance of "miracles" (if you can call them that) are so very few, rare, and almost statically non-existent. Possibly cancer type was misdiagnosed.
What a strong, enlightened woman. Just imagine her ending up being diagnosed at stage IV even though she advocated for herself. Now think about how many folks won't do that and just nod at whatever their doc throws at them. It's the most important thing when it comes to your health to listen to your body and keep knocking sense into skulls that won't listen until they do.

You need to keep in mind that the process of diagnosis is driven by probability and ruling out a higher probability diagnosis before investigating the next lower probability diagnosis. No doubt it’s helpful if one has enough knowledge and self-advocacy to push doctors if one feels like their diagnostic process isn’t delivering the results one wants to see.
@@roch145 Yes, think horses, not zebras, I get it. But I've seen so many diagnoses driven by error and oversight that I will make sure things run the way they're supposed to when it comes to my health.
I may be a layman, but I stay on top of things and keep myself in the loop. Whenever I talk to medical professionals, they notice, and that alone makes them a bit more considerate when it comes to medical decisions.
Mind you, I don't try to be pain and come off snooty just because I can google stuff. That's not how it works. But being informed and second-guessing things can sometimes tip the scales in your favor, especially when it comes to malignancies.
@@Noodles.FreeUkraine Being an informed consumer of any service is always beneficial. Car repairs, home repairs, healthcare are best consumed by knowledgeable customers. However, diagnosing cancer is a bit more complicated than diagnosing a misfiring spark plug. So there’s more of a tendency, if not necessity, to rely on medical professionals and their knowledge and experience to drive you in the right direction. Sometimes those care providers fall short and unless you can advocate effectively for yourself, you will suffer. I’ve been through advanced cancer treatments and I know firsthand the challenges of being a cancer patient.
When I hear your story all I can think of is all the people who have passed away because they didn't have a doctor who really cared or just didn't know what steps to take to get the help they needed. You are so brave and a blessing to those who may be going through the same thing. You are right you still have things to do on this earth. I pray you have many more years.

I can all CRNPs are great, but I can vouch for mine. Since I have an HMO, all care starts with my primary. A few years ago, I was apprehensive when I found out my new primary was a nurse practitioner. Well, I had never before had care like she provided. She recently moved away and her patients are devastated. I'll be seeing a new one at next checkup. I'm not too concerned because I am able to advocate for myself. I feel bad for people who can't do that for themselves and have no one to do it for them. And my heart bleeds for those who don't have health insurance.
I don’t necessarily think they know more than doctors, but in my experience they tend to actually listen to you, which in turn results in better care.
I’m a tetied RN and I tend to agree with you. I’m often left wondering what the hell they are teaching at medical school nowadays!
I’m not a fan of MDs or NPs because I’m a long time chronic illness sufferer and have been gas lit, mistreated and misdiagnosed by both, most recently as of yesterday, I was treated horrifically by a nurse practitioner. I have a graduate degree in public policy and am an activist by trade which comes in handy because I am constantly advocating for myself in the medical community. Like Leah, I worry so much for those who don’t have an advocate or support because it’s necessary for survival these days.

He is an amazing human being and thetop cancer researcher in the world. You can find him on UA-cam to start. He is out of Boston and has clinics going there! It's worth looking into!

Everyone says not to Google your symptoms but I do it anyway. I go into my doctor’s office with my own diagnosis and the diagnostics I think I need and then ask for them. I once diagnosed myself after two separate doctors told me nothing was wrong! I ended up needing surgery.
I know of a bunch of people whose lives were saved by dr. Google. The "don't Google" advice is utter BS.

Yes I had an episode of TGA, which is a 24 hour memory loss and I went to the emergency room and they had no idea what was wrong after many tests but then the next morning I just googled my symptoms and figured out what it was! Doctors are so clueless it’s scary !
I hope that she beats this and has a long, long life. I can tell she's a good person and this world needs more people like her!

Your story is so similar to my daughter's. 43, never smoker, went to Dr. many times with no answers. Then a CT with contrast showed the tumors. Liver needle biopsy. Stage 4 because it had spread to liver, bone, and brain. NSCLC, with the EGFR mutation. She is 3 months into her treatment with Tagrisso and had radiation to brain tumors and feeling much, much better! It is so encouraging to see how you are fighting your way through this and succeeding. There is hope. And its true that none of us are promised tomorrow, so live each day with joy. Doctors do not know everything-a rare presentation really throws them. A lot of cancers mimic so many other illnesses and at a young age-lung cancer, colon cancer, etc…it isn’t even on their radar.

My mom was diagnosed when she was 65 with non small cell lung cancer stage 3A. It was in the lower lobe of her left lung. She had multiple doctor appointments and was diagnosed with pneumonia. She was prescribed antibiotics and steroids. Was finally sent to the ER and the doctor realized it was cancer. Her cancer had not spread and she had the lobe removed. She is an active 82 year old. Good luck.

After losing my mother and brother to cancer I have little faith in the medical community when treating patients. In each case proper diagnosis was delayed for 3+ months before the cancer was discovered. Now my sister was just informed that she has stage 4 colon cancer which has spread to her liver. So little faith in all of you college educated folks that become complacent when treating your patients while choosing to ignore what they try to share. Thank God that you kept up the fight. Who else can we trust but doctors? They are the control point in care and the administrators control them so they too are stuck, and also human.

I also lost a little brother to cancer, a mother who survived double breast/lymph node cancer, and a grandfather who had spinal cancer, two grandmothers who survived uterine cancer, and I often worry about who's next in my family; hopefully not my children or grandchildren!😮

My wife was diagnosed with stage 4 pulmonary Adenocarcinoma at the end of May 2023 and she died August 11, 2023. She gave up. Listening to your story brought back a lot of memories. Keep fighting.

I’m 65 and was diagnosed with NSCLC in January. I had a what I assumed was an upper respiratory infection in Dec. only symptom was a really hard dry cough. My husband insisted I see my PCP and she was fantastic. She immediately sent me for an X-ray and CT scan. Upon getting the results she made me an appointment with the Pulmonologist the next day. He sent me to get a PET scan and after those results sent me to get the nodule biopsied. It came back as NSCLC stage 1. I had never smoked and like you was physically active and diet conscious. Living what I felt was a healthy lifestyle. I had my upper lobe surgically removed along with 28 lymph nodes. After surgery it was discovered that cancer had spread to one of the nodes outside the lung which made the cancer stage 3. I had 4 rounds of chemo therapy. My oncologist has been fantastic and I can’t say enough wonderful things about every doctor and the cancer center I went to. I also have the EFGR mutation so will be on tragrisso for the next 3 years. My story seems to be the exception when it comes to non smoker lung cancer diagnosis. I was the one who went to the doctor asking for an inhaler because I was convinced I had developed exercise induced asthma. My PCP was the one who insisted on the testing before giving me one. I remember leaving her office mad because I didn’t want those annoying tests that was just going to prove me right. Boy was I wrong. I wish there were more stories like mine and less like yours. Unfortunately this type of cancer is on the rise for women who never smoked of all ages and doctors need to be aware of this. I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

Thank you for sharing. My sister had your EXACT journey, doctor after doctor misdiagnosed in every step. It wasn’t until her condition worsened, the ER discovered something was wrong. She was 37 at her diagnosis. She is now 40, 2 kids, married and doing well. Healthy eater, non smoker. Her cancer traveled from her lung primary to her spine. Targeted therapy through Cleveland Clinic has been a saving grace. The battle is far from over, but there is hope. It sure takes a toll on family. Keep bringing awareness to this, you will save lives…I promise you.
You are an amazing woman who has convinced me to advocate harder for myself. At my age (78), my generation has been conditioned to revere doctors and accept what they say without question. I saw blood in the toilet (2007) went to my doctor, he did an examination and told me I had a small pile. I called into were I played golf and bumped into a guy who was 80 and had just gone thru bowel cancer. I told him what I had found and some other symptoms and he advised me to get a second opinion. So I was a marine engineer and had a special unit were we could get treated in the NHS but fast tracked. I lived in Belfast the Hospital was in London, so my doctor referred me to the hospital I flew over they did a colonoscopy took a biopsy, and was told I had Rectal Cancer a 5 cm tumour.
So I had a bit of luck it was found early, and that they would operate, in Northern Ireland they tended not to Operate as the tumour was very deep. I had the operation and nearly died twice, surgeon cut a main vain going thru my pelvic area down my left leg. I recovered and they said they had got all the cancer. On my way home, I had to get a train from London to Scotland and get a Ferry home they would not let me fly. While waiting to get on the ferry and old woman asked what happened to me (I was in a wheel chair) I told her, she asked had I gotten chemo, I said no they found it early, she said it will come back again, she had been nurse to a top cancer consultant. In 2011 I noticed blood coming from the mucus in the toilet ( I had a colostomy bag) so it had come back Surgeon said he could not go into my pelvic area again he would kill me. Only way was to remove tumour was by removing my rectum, but to do that the tumour would need to shrink, oncologist said this was very rare. Had 25 sessions of Radiotherapy in Belfast, tumour shrunk, had operation in London to remove my rectum (12 hours) a dangerous operation but my attitude was if I die on the table I would know nothing about it, if I refused the op I would be dead in 18 months, here I am 13 years later.

I couldnt agree more! In 2009 I experienced severe pain in my lower abdomen. They insisted I go home but I refused. Just as well because my bowel had perforated (peritonitis). I had bowel cancer which metastasised to my liver. Had I gone home I would not have survived. I am still here 15 years later.

I’m stage 2 oropharyngeal carcinoma. I’m half way through chemotherapy and radiation. The only reason they found my cancer was I demanded a scope down my throat. Then I demanded a CT scan with dye. Two days later I was in same day surgery getting a biopsy. Advocate for yourself!
Exactly. I was treated for bronchitis repeatedly until I got the CT scan. Xrays were useless until it was huge - 5cm lump and 7cm lymph node (largest one). Surgery not possible. Prognosis pathetic.
@@kathleenmcbride1471 I had a never ending sinus infection and what I thought was an inflamed tonsil. They wanted to put me on another antibiotic (I had already been on 4). I wasn’t playing that game. I wish you the best of luck! Fight like a Pitbull and MAKE them do what’s necessary. Most people die from these cancers because doctors brush them off and when it is found, it’s too late. We need change!
@@angelabordack I have done all the treatments that are applicable to my case so far. I read everything and got an excellent 2nd opinion at Moffitt. No mutations or markers so no targeted or immunotherapy is appropriate which is very unfortunate. That left the old chemo and radiation - exact same treatment as they have had for many years with historically dismal results. However, I did it all - fought through all that and now just having periodic scans. There is nothing left to do. A terrible waiting game. Trying to keep my mind on other things and enjoy the little things I can still do - limited by shortness of breath. I am OK. I get a lot of encouragement from others fighting cancer (example Dr. Dan and Shannen Dougherty among many) so it has been very hard recently as both are passed in the last week. Stay strong!

So much of what you have to say regarding being dismissed and having multiple diagnoses before the actual diagnosis of cancer was found is exactly what my 38-year-old daughter-in-law is going through right now. She just found out she has stage three lung cancer non-small cell and she’s been in and out of the hospital. Currently, she’s back in the hospital because of a collapsed lung. Sadly, she’s only had one chemo treatment. We are hoping that her lung will reinflate and she can get some treatment. She’s very strong like you.

My mom went through this, her doctors didn’t believe her or take her seriously. By the time they diagnosed her it was to late. Her body was already shutting down she passed 2 weeks after being diagnosed. 59 years old. Non small cell lung cancer, never smoked.
My mom‘s lung cancer spread to her brain had a stroke, the doctors blamed it on an AFib heart. She had migraines daily. Every time she went to the doctor or ER they would just give her a migraine cocktail and send her away. Turned out to be lung cancer when someone finally listened she was no longer eating and her body was shutting down. Cancer had spread to spine and brain. 😢 I wish I would have asked more questions, I believed the doctors every time they told me she was fine.

Self advocacy is THE most important thing you can do . Yes you made a good point what about people who don’t have any advocacy of some knowledge it’s sad . As a Nurse practitioner and a lung cancer survivor myself I listen to my patients . I too was diagnosed during Covid and given the run around until I persisted on a ct scan then Bronchoscopy and was stage 3 . The healthcare professionals need to be more aware that age and smoking is no longer a factor in lung cancer
It’s insane that you coughed blood and yet the doctors did not take you seriously! That’s the number 1 and classic symptom of lung cancer! They should have right away sent you to have a biopsy. I wish you well, and yes, we need to always advocate for our own good.

Yesterday I was diagnosed with stage 4 non-smoking lung cancer. I thought I had asthma, thankfully my GP sent me for a routine x-ray. My advice is - if you haven't had an x-ray - always insist on getting one. It is inspiring to hear Leah's wisdom, and thank you for sharing your thoughts on statistics. There is no such thing as "non-smoking lung cancer". Non-small cell lung cancer affects both smokers and non-smokers. There are no types of lung cancer that affect only non-smokers. Lung cancer is the number one cancer killer of both men and women, and kills both smokers and non-smokers.

My dad was diagnosed with mycoplasma pneumonia. It wouldn't go away. He even ASKED about lung cancer because he was 80 and had been a smoker. BUT since he hadn't been a smoker for more than 40 years, they dismissed him. Yup. Stage 4 lung cancer.😢

Leah, thank you for your story. I was diagnosed stage 2B breast cancer last year and then during scans found kidney cancer. I'm Ok for now but worry I'm going to miss signs telling me that my cancer has returned. However, at 65 I'm going to keep on and see what this life has in store for me. My Dad was diagnosed at age 65 with Non Squamous Small Cell Lung Cancer, and by the GRACE & MERCY of God, Dad lived 18 years! He passed away at age 83, almost 7 years ago. His diagnosis was in the year 2000, before we had genetic markers testing. I applaud your tenacity and determination to get the care you needed and deserved. Put your faith in God and your hand in His hand, and He will never leave you or forsake you. My prayers are with you and your family.
@elavarasirajendran5760 It was stage four, but the surgeons did not find that out until after they opened Dad up! None of the testing showed that the cancer had spread to his heart, and to his larynx specifically his voice box. God did a miracle in my dad's life, and he's still in the miracle business, you just have to have faith! Prayers for you or whoever is suffering with this disease.

Not only Jenny Appleford, look at all the other, mostly women in their prime, stories on here. There's no shortage. I am nearly 65 & it would be devastating for me to learn I had terminal cancer but if I was young like so many of the women who's stories are on here & had young children I'd fall apart. It would be the most traumatic thing ever to think my kids would be without their Mother. I remember thinking about my mortality as a Mom to young children actually & I knew I had to try my best to be healthy bcos my kids need me. My heart truly goes out to all people who may be terminal, especially young Mom's.

Radon exposure is a massive cause of lung cancer that few people know anything about. You can be living in a house with high radon levels that are the equivalent of smoking hundreds of cigarettes every single week and not know about it.

Strong woman. Not sure what made her think people are somehow exonerated from cancer because they didn't smoke. Cancer is not selective. Anybody can get anything, even a heart attack or stroke or aneurysm. Anything. Whatever time we get is luck. Enjoy life before it's over.

I literally had my CT Scan cancelled the evening before I was going, because some insurance administrator said, “as a non smoker, it’s unlikely this test is needed.” I went into a rage. If I were a smoker, I’d have been welcome with no questions asked. Insanity.
Hopefully the doctor appealed and figured out "what to say" on the request so it was later approved! A doctor may need a brain CT scan or MRI for some reason (to check for metastasis from a separate cancer site). They think it will likely be rejected for approval, they may ask if you have headaches. If so, say yes! I didn't have brain metastasis, but did have a rather large unruptured brain aneurysm. After breast cancer treatment, an endoscopic neurosurgeon placed a stent in the brain aneurysm to prevent future rupture. Also, the breast cancer that was initially thought to be stage IV (because lung CT scan looked much worse than it actually was) turned out to be stage I. God works in mysterious ways.

I have stage two lung cancer, I was lucky that my primary doctor was on the ball and sent me to specialist right away. I’ve finished chemotherapy and waiting to start the same pill you are on. I thank my doctor for keeping an eye on a small nodule on my lung. They removed the top part of my right lung , then chemo.
Amazing story. FWIW, my wife had advanced stage 4 met breast cancer (bones/lymph/liver/lungs/brain). Super long story short, after trying everything (conventional and alternative) we combined an immune checkpoint inhibitor (low single digit success rate used standalone) with fasting, very high dose melatonin, whole plant based diet and attention to gut/microbiota health and in 5 months she was completely cancer free per CT/PET/MRI and 2 Signaterra genetic tests for the first time in 10 years. All the above mentioned adjuncts have lots of science behind them and are very synergistic. If your Dr's are not able to offer additional options you may want to investigate what we did. To add a little detail. Again, long, long story short. After 10 years of research (pubmed/NIH) my wife and I came to the realization that cancer is not about the cancer cell but about the immune system and gut microbiota. Everyone has cancer cells present in them. The immune system and microbiota are the systems that keep cancer in check. When they fail cancer can grow uncontrolled. AIDS (broken immune system) patients who die as a consequence of AIDS most often die of cancer. Someone with cancer is not much different than someone with AIDS. It's just not called AIDS. There is now ample evidence (both mainstream and alternative) of how completely effective the immune system can be as compared to chemo in eradicating cancer if it can be sensitized to the cancer and the cancer defense mechanisms can be degraded enough to facilitate immune involvement which is what happend with my wife. Chemo unfortunately impairs immune function and degrades the microbiome making a full resolution more difficult to achieve.
Thank you for spreading this info. Many will tell me off of certain sites for sharing serious science backed natural alternatives to killer disease including cancer. But the science is there. My daughter knows I’m not doing chemo. Unfortunately the $$$ involved in doing serious protocol with nutrition, supplements, therapies etc, is not for broke, bedridden, unemployed people w no medical insurance- so, don’t get cancer in America, without family, spouse or inheritance to chip in💰😢

@@pm2886 Yes, but it unfortunately does not have a high success rate when used standalone. The body has to be in the proper biochemical state to give it the best chance of working. The scientific lit bares this out but few oncologists are aware of this. Ultimately it is the immune system that is the best answer to a full and long lasting recovery.

Such an inspirational lady. I've been suffering for 4 months with breathlessness and tender chest pain in the ribs, total exhaustion. Ive aged 20 years in 16 weeks! The doctors won't listen when I tell them I'm usually fit and work out etc. You feel like you are banging your head against a wall. I'm 55 non smoker. In the UK. You have to be almost on your last legs to get a CT scan, unless you have money of course... I'm scared I have lung cancer as my brother died a couple years ago of cancer. My poor mum couldn't cope with losing me as well.

I REALLY needed to hear this. After going to the doctor every other week for the past month with no answers, I am on the brink of feeling like I'm crazy. I'm only 50 yrs old! I just turned 50 & I have ALWAYS been one to get up & DO! WHATEVER needs to be done & whatever doesn't need to be done, I'll find something to do but as of the past couple of months I just don't have the energy & I now have pain so severe in my left shoulder that I can't even lift a frying pan! Some of my blood work has come back borderline like my anemia & vitamin D but I know something is wrong! My bones literally hurt! Idk what else to do. I'm not one to stand down but I'm also not confrontational either. However I watched my Dad pass away from liver cancer 6yrs ago & I refuse to go out like that. I won't stop until someone tells me why I'm feeling like this & what we can do about it. Thank YOU for speaking up! This encourages people like myself. Keeping you in my thoughts & prayers.
Have you gone through menopause? Some of the things you mentioned can be related to menopause. But the best way to get help I have learned is the ER. Your regular doctor may dismiss your symptoms. If you feel you need someone to get you help go right away.

@@Ioncandi I have also had episodes of waking up drenched in sweat! That's only happened about a dozen times. My mother also had ovarian cancer when I was 14. My platelets came back elevated also. About 2yrs ago I noticed a "pea size lump" in my left armpit. I went to the doctor & they dismissed it as "fatty tissue". Well, it has tripled in size since & that is the same arm that this excruciating pain is in. The pain that I have in that armpit is so bad that I haven't slept on that side in over 2yrs. The pain between that armpit & elbow is so much worse & nonstop. Whenever I stand up it takes me a minute to get acclimated because my bones literally ache all over. The "all over" pain isn't as severe as the arm pain but it's there! I'm have a high pain tolerance but this is something that I just cannot take much longer. I have broken down crying twice to my husband. I need someone to do a scan ASAP! You know when you "just know" something isn't right? That's how I feel & I've rarely felt this way in my life. I PRAY that I'm wrong.
@@paige6028 Maybe your lymph nodes are off? I would get a scan. A friend of my bf's at his work his wife ended up having cancer under her arm in that area. Please get it checked out. No one should have you wait until it's too late. Good luck.

We love 45 minutes from a "world renowned hospital" & I've been contemplating on making the drive the vs going to our local hospital. If I said we live near the "city of medicine" you could easily Google it & know where I'm talking about. We do have many great, well-known hospitals & schools of medicine around us however they've all seemed to really decline since covid. I will definitely be going soon for a scan though! My family deserves answers. They've seen me sick long enough & I'm actually sick & tired of being sick & tired! Thank you so very much. God bless you! ❤️ 🙏 ❤️
