That must've taken you a lot of time!
Learn how to pronounce the names guys!
Thank you so much for these time stamps!!!! Must have taken you a lot of time!
Hope the studios don’t destroy the awards season cause of the strike, it’s looking really really fun
I hope too
Idek which movies to have as priority at TIFF besides the obvious and it stresses me out
I would just encourage you to lower expectations for How do you live
It's a little endulgant 😅 a touch too many unfulfilled but interesting ideas
I’m very excited for the Fall season Festivals, My most anticipated is Alexander Payne’s The Holdovers and David Fincher’s The Killer.
The Holdovers looks good. The kind of movie that is quite but catches on.
What a stacked year this is going to be.
I like the Venice lineup better this year.
Saltburn WILL premiere at Telluride, it’s been confirmed
Sounds like the end of a Marvel movie: "Saltburn WILL return...."
One of my most anticipated movies of this year
I thought so, it would've been weird a film directed by Academy Award Winner Emerald Fennel doesn't get a festival Oscar bait release
Actually premiering at LFF
It's CRAZY how you guys become more and more gorgeous OMG. I need to date one of you in my life
Yeah, what's your diet & workout regimen?
The Caine Mutiny was also a (7 time) Oscar-nominated movie starring Humphrey Bogart, giving one of his best performances. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't seen it.
Knox Goes Away is not Michael Keaton's directorial debut btw. It's his second film.
I’m really excited for The Peasants I think it’ll be better than Loving Vincent
I hope TIFF will program The Teachers’ Lounge, the likely German Oscar submission. I want to invite my Toronto-based friend to see it there.
I’m excited for Finestkind and The Holdovers. Curious to hear your thoughts on Finestkind premiering at TIFF and how you think it will be
Looking forward to Larrain’s movie “El Conde” and thank you for another great video.
I’m just hoping that Poor Things comes to Heartland International Film Fest now (it upsets me that they delayed it, my most anticipated film of the rest of the year). They had The Whale last year, which was similar size and release date, so there is a chance!
Monster and Saltburn are the other ones I’m hopeful for, but both seem even less likely.
Poor Things and Henry Sugar are definitely on the top of my list. Also probably Zone of Interest and Anatomy of a Fall because I am curious about the fanfare
Live in Toronto.Welcome guys!
I wonder if these films will show up anywhere before the end of the year:
The Iron Claw (A24)
Love Lies Bleeding (A24)
Dream Scenario (A24)
Tuesday (A24)
Wizards! (A24)
Civil War (A24)
Freud‘s Last Session (Sony Pictures Classics)
The Bikeriders
The Actor (NEON)
Cuckoo (NEON)
Handling the Undead (NEON)
Mothers’ Instinct (NEON)
Foe (Amazon)
Rebel Ridge (Netflix)
Leave the World Behind (Netflix)
Nightbitch (Searchlight/Hulu)
Strangers (Searchlight)
The Successor
Magpie
Joika
I was expecting Strangers at Venice, as Andrew Haighs last film went there, but I can also see it at Berlin or Cannes.
@@Gailm29 A24 just dated it for a December 22 release. Apparently skipping festivals.
I'm very much looking forward to Luna Carmoon's debut, Hoard. It seems like it's going to be super dark, and I'm excited to see Joseph Quinn in his first post-Stranger Things role! Also cannot wait for Poor Things.
Michael Mann's Collateral is one of my fav films, so I'm quite excited for Ferrari
If you're a rapy director, you can still debut your films in Venice.
TIFF still has a bunch of films to announce! So never say never to some Venice and NYFF titles!
Paul Giamatti looks so much like Donald Sutherland at the same age in the Holdovers, it’s nearly uncanny
(i posted this in another video, but this might be the right place. still dont know if ill be attending Venice)
Now that the TIFF has revealed all of its lineup, here are my 10 most expected, the ones I'll surely attend:
1. Fingernails - i'm a sucker for Jessie Buckley and Riz Ahmed as they are some of the best actors around the block nowadays, and I'm quite sure it might be a magnetic couple on screen, maybe possibilities for the Acting Awards
2 - Lee - a World War II film with the superbs Kate Winslet and Marion Cotillard might be a possible contender for Picture, Director and Actress/Supporting Actress, plus its their first time together on screen, and I don't remember much war films which revolve around female characters, so thats a plus
3 - Toll - i've been discovering brazilian movies in the past few years, love me some Bacurau, Mars One, and Charcoal, by Caroline Markowicz, and this is her second, and the fact that it is about gay conversion therapy might propel it into Foreign Film and even Picture and screenplay
4 - The Zone of Interest - one of the talks of the season (unfortunately I wasnt able to attend Cannes for personal reasons), and another possible candidate for Foreign Film and Picture, probably Cinematography also
5 - Anatomy of a Fall - speaking of Cannes, i'm also very hyped to see this Sandra Huller performance, it might be a contender for Foreign Film, Actress and Screenplay
6 - The Boy and the Heron - mister Miyazaki return that might be the upsetter of Spiderverse (which i think its quite good technically, but as of now I'm a supporter of Suzume instead). Probably guaranteed in Animation
7 - Monster - Hirokazu Kore Eda is a hit (Shoplifters) or miss (Broker) for me, but I love japanese films as much as I enjoy brazilian and south korean ones, so if this one works, it might be another possibility for Foreign Film
8 - Rustin - i'm expecting a lot from mister Colman Domingo (more here than in The Color Purple, which, by trailer, sounds like a dud of a film), and I need me a frontrunner for Best Actor, cause even though I adore Cillian Murphy in Oppenheimer, and surely he will land a nomination, I'm not sold on a win (it lacked a little of grey nuance for me)
9 - Next Goal Wins - this might be the comeback we need from one of the best actors of the last decade, Michael Fassbender (lets never forget his Shame delivery). The fact that it has Elizabeth Moss on it sells me, and Waititi sense of humour might make this quite a fun watch for a Sunday afternoon (on the same lane, i'm not expected much of a performance of Air, which I have seen and find it just okay, and The Holdovers, and I love my Giamatti, but Payne never really works for me, but I might be wrong, so I'll give it a watch at TIFF)
10 - Nyad - Annette Bening might pull a Jamie Lee Curtis out of this one
Very excited for these films, and almost as excited for your reviews on them, which are always much fun to watch
Reports on Ellen Burstyn say she’s contributing her Exorcist salary to fund acting scholarships, also, so very cool.
I enjoy movies, but don't usually pay too much attention to movies I have no interest in. But my brother loves movies & learning about them. He tries to see all the oscar nominated movies before oscar awards night. Plus we e both vote for the National Film Registry list each year. Anyway, although I wont see it until it goes to Amazon, the film premiering at TIFF I am most looking forward to is a documentary called Mr. Dressup: The Magic of Make-Believe. My mom, my brother & I all did at home, film each other, interviews as fans of the show & we shared some of our VHS tapes (with episodes of the show) with the filmmaker, so I'm curious if any of our footage will make it into the final cut.
you've missed Agnieszka Holland's Green border that is in main competition in Venice
How do you not know the other film versions of The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial?!
What I like about the film festivals, is they tend to have small films with big stars rather than big budget popcorn blockbusters.
Great video! By the way, Michael Keaton directed another movie before. It didn't receive a lot of praise or coverage, though.
adding Priscilla to yr list of entertaining pronunciations
Anatomy of a Fall, Monster, Ferrari, El Conde, Poor Things, Evil Does Not Exist, Memory, The Killer, Priscilla, Maestro, La Bete, The Royal Hotel, His Three Daughters, & North Star all sound interesting.
I hope they all don't get pushed to next year because of the strike.
the movies I'm excited for are
Maestro
🌟 Bradley Cooper
Close To You
🌟 Elliot Page
Rustin
Next Goal Wins
Anatomy Of A Fall
El Conde
Monster
One Life
TIFF will have more announcements in the next two weeks. By my count, they haven’t programmed enough galas to fill all the slots they usually have. I’d expect a few more big, maybe Venice-bound titles, I think they’ve just been negotiating the strike situation.
Pablo Larraín's name is pronounced Pablo La-RA-EEN, not La-RAIN. The accent mark on the i makes a difference.
The way they pronounce Léa Seydoux is way worse lol
11:30 oh look the People’s Choice Winner
I would absolutely love it if the peasants got nominated for animated feature and international feature
Another movie to consider watching at Venice is The Theory of Everything: Directed by Timm Kröger
They mentioned The Killer lol.
Never thought there would be two movies called The Theory of Everything but ok
Hoping for The Holdovers PCA win at TIFF. Wish Napoleon was at Venice!
17:42 you mean chris evans lol
new video from toe = my day is completed
are your cat directing your videos? just wondering
I can't wait for Priscilla and Ferrari.
Iam excited to cate winslet film( lee) becase about piopic
The TIFF audience's taste is questionable. In 2020, they voted Jojo Rabbit best film and Parasite in 3rd.
Gotra love all the movoes that will get ZERO promotion from actors.
The Holdovers looks so mid but also not my type of humor so 🤷♂️ when i saw the trailer before Oppenheimer i was surprised to see the nerdy kid from Drillbit Taylor is in it lmao
Watched The New Boy at SFF, it’s alright but not the best by that director, and a bit weirdly paced
Is Kitty asleep/drunk/comatose?😂
There's lots of South Korean films debuting in Tiff.
H❤️❤️❤️
NEW LINKLATER HOLY SHIT
Except for Boyhood and the Before films, none of his other stuff is exciting. Bernadette in particular was just irritating.
@@pb.j.1753 uhhh dazed and confused? waking life? he's got some bangers
Cat.
I'm excited for Travis Scott's new project film and music wise
Why are you saying Priscilla like that 😂
No how do you live 😥
Rumored to be opening TIFF
Anybody know if tiff will have online option this year
I wonder who’s winning the volpi cups
I feel like
Emma’s stone
And
Bradly cooper
That would be way too obvious.
rn I'm predicting Rebecca Antonaci/Cailee Spaeny and Jaime Vadell
Adam Driver is in a career SLUMP. So until I hear otherwise, I'm going to assume anything he's in is poison.
He's always been a mid-average actor for me. He became a household name because of Star Wars but he never played anything but Emo Darth Vader, and maybe excluding the one movie with Scarlet Johansson, I don't think he's ever done anything interesting either.
@@Nikki-tx6kh He had a very strong filmography in the 2010s but has done nothing brilliant since then. Career slumps happen to everyone.
@@ryantrent2114 Well, I am European, part of his work might have never crossed the pond or past around without any hype. So, that's why I don't have more of a knowledge about his stuff.
17:42 Cole mistaking Chris Evans for Chris Pine is so cute here
No Dune:Part 2 or The Colour Purple at Tiff or Venice is kinda concerning, especially since Warner Bros was already considering delaying them.
Nooooo! I am so angry! 😠
No one even expected these movies there. It's been pretty obvious for everbody that these two are skipping all fall festivals.
Guys you both call yourselves experts on the Oscar but talking here about the new Friedkin film you were not sure of its origin saying you "think" it is based on a play. It is based on a very famous play which in turn was based on the very famous Pulitzer prize winning novel The Caine Mutiny which was made into a very famous Oscar nominated film in 1954 for which Bogart received his third nomination. You guys need to seriously brush up on Oscar films from the Golden era because there is a whole lot of stuff you are unaware of which every cinephile should have at the tip of their fingers. I don't think you explore enough films from the past. Change that.
Wish these "wokies" would also talk about, surprise smash-hit, "Sound of Freedom".🤷🏼♂️
#ProtectTheChildren!🙅🏼♂️
I hope these "wokies" can put their biases aside and talk about, surprise smash-hit, "Sound of Freedom"!🤔
I absolutely loved loved loved that movie!!!!!!!
At some point these "wokies" should set their biases aside and talk about the, surprise smash-hit, "Sound of Freedom".🤔
