I want Spiderverse to get nominated for Best Picture so badly. It deserves it and it’s been a while since an animated feature has been nominated
I can see Across the Spider-Verse in the discussion, but damn, the stats for animated movies are really hard to break. Is SMATSV the movie that can break the stats? Maybe...
I guess I'm in the minority for Past Lives. I thought the movie was fine in the first act, but it dragged after that, I almost fell asleep watching it in the theatre. I felt the dialogue didn't dive into anything deep or interesting until the bar scene. The cinematography is great and the acting is great too. However, the ending just left me hollow and I didn't take away anything from the movie. I love dialogue driven movies, but this didn't do it for me.
Y’all are sleeping on Napoleon….!!!
I’m rooting for poor things this whole season i just know im gonna be devastated by the end but hey 🤷♂️😵💫
It looks so fun
After seeing Past Lives I do not really understand the placement at number 2. It's a good movie but I don't really see it winning
Did you feel the same way about Green Book, CODA, Shape of Water or Shakespeare in Love?
Didnt even talk about your 3rd or 4th pick in depth…
I'm not saying that it's happening, but voice acting performances are actually eligible for both oscars and sag awards. Eddie Murphy was nominated for best supporting actor in Shrek at Baftas
Coming from someone who loves the movie, I don’t know if I’d nominate any of the voice actors except *maybe* Hailee Steinfeld
@@seankoontz4235 Steinfeld gave the worst performance of the year so far. She sounded so bored, especially in the first 20 minutes. None of the voice acting in the movie really stood out. Really lazy, which is disappointing because that first one was actually really good
SPIDERVERSE ATE SO BAD ok I'm Watching the video now
I didn't expect to care about an awards season, then EEAAO happened.
I certainly didn't expect to care about a second one, but then Across the Spiderverse happened.
Here we go again.
Cat.
Gotta have a Netflix film in there guys
What would it be though?
@@seankoontz4235 I’m predicting May December and Rustin
narrative is important, but KOTFM is definitely far away from crowd pleasing so I don't think it'll win BP. BD+Supportin Actress seems more possible.
Air is a lock. So is Blackberry.
If poor things is a great as I think it’s gonna be it’s definitely gonna take Barbie’s spot in best picture assuming Poor things gets best actress, supporting actor, and gets adapted screenplay
I am in the minority on both Past Lives and ATSV. I did not love either movie. I am hoping a more original entertaining one comes out and wins.
For me I love both more than Air
@@dariussalepetru6770 Agree to disagree. Air was better than both.
Found your channel recently, really like your reviews, analysis and the movies/topics you choose to touch. I love many movies that got Oscar attention, but not a fan of the Oscars. With the declining popularity of the Oscars, do you think that will be good for the channel detach the brand from the Oscars? I think yes, you will be much more free as a critics, of course still covering Oscars stuff, but without that so rooted. Your love for Oscars didn't gradually decrease in the last decade?
For me personally as someone who barely cares about the Oscars, I still think they are a good framing device to talk about the best movies of the year and which are too safe or too experimental.
Have you seen the views on the channel? People come here to watch videos about the Oscars. This is an oscars channel. They cover Oscar season all year it's the #1 source of information on Oscar stuff for many people.
If you don't like the oscars, move on.
