    Thank you for posting this. I appreciate that you took the time to show the levels of power and as importantly (for me at least) the sound they make.
    I bought this over 2 years ago. I use it with the AR1000 battery rucksack meaning it has a massive amount of power.
    I have a question. I have found 2 issues with this tool:
    1. I find it under-powered and I am not a professional, just a professional home owner :) If my memory serves me, I was happy with the power at the start but months later, it's like it dropped the power for all levels. The only thing I did was change the strimmer cable to another supported type (for this model) also made by Stihl.
    2. I have had past issues changing the power level from 1 to 2 to 3 and back to 1. I had no issues at at the start when I first bought it and none now but did have some for a few months a year ago. I took apart the trigger housing and checked inside but couldn't find anything wrong with the mechanism. Because the electronics are potted, there is no way to tell if something is burned out. That said and as already mentioned, changing the power seems reliable again so perhaps I tightened something mechanical up.
    Have you ever had any similar issues? Perhaps for me, the two are related... Thank you for your time!

      Haven’t had any problem switching between the power levels on mine yet. But it does seem to switch back to 1 or 3 on occasion. I usually use it in 2, so I likely could be bumping it out of 2.
      The line you are using can surely make it feel like there are differences in power. I have a couple heads that I use with different line loaded and I have noticed that some line makes the unit feel bogged down so I need to increase trigger pull. But I think this is normal. I haven’t noticed the unit being underpowered or any loss of power. I think I am in my second year of use now. I would buy this unit again for sure. Thanks for your comment!

    So you still like it after a year? Any issues with it? Looks like a good strong trimmer.

    • @ApacheRanch

      Yeah, I still like it. The fact that it always starts (no matter how long it sits) and the power that it has really makes it ideal for my situation. I would buy it again.

      @@ApacheRanch That's awesome. I think that is what a lot of people want to know. Is going to battery equipment now better than gas. I think the answer in many situation is yes.

    It seems great besides the fact that you have to wear the waist strap. Not sure about that. I wish the battery would go inside the unit.

    • @ApacheRanch
      @ApacheRanch  2 роки тому +1

      I thought the same thing. I have the edger also (see my other video) which doesn’t use the belt. It’s definitely more weight to carry with your arms but not so bad on an edger vs trimmer. These are well built pieces of equipment and they weigh accordingly.

    One problem I see. If you are left handed the cord into the unit would get in the way. If I am wrong please let me know. Thinking of getting one.

    • @ApacheRanch
      @ApacheRanch  3 роки тому +1

      I’m left handed too. The cord sits at your waist but the angle doesn’t poke you in the hip. It works fine for me both ways.

    Have you ever tried edging a sidewalk with this trimmer? I was looking for a video with somebody edging a sidewalk, if you can recommend a video or create one? That is one big question i have with having the cord, is there to much slack with the cord or would the cord get in the way.

    • @ApacheRanch
      @ApacheRanch  3 роки тому +1

      I’ve edged my driveway with this on occasion, but my primary edger is a dedicated unit. This has enough power to edge and it’s easy to get it into position. The cord on this is the right length that I never have been in a situation where it’s too tight or too loose or getting in the way. When operating, it hangs off my right hip (I use the belt to hold the battery) and I never really notice it until it’s time to take it off and put it away. Hope that helps.

      @@ApacheRanch I just wanted to say thank you for getting back to me so quickly. That definitely helps. I do landscaping for living and have use the gas powered fs 90 for many years and feel like that is a great machine. I also use the fs 55 at home which is an old one that I've had for many years still works good but it may be time to upgrade. It's hard when you get used to commercial power but that has held up well very well. I would like to switch over to most battery powered equipment at some point. I would just like to try to battery string trimmer before i invest in all that money first. How do you feel it compares to gas, relatively speaking? I know gas will always has more power. Have you ever used the fsa 90 or any of the echo battery powered string trimmers? It doesn't like echo has as much a selection as stihl. Thanks again for all your help. I hope you don't mind but I may pick your brain if I have any other questions.

      @@shawnalexander5661 I do not do landscaping for a living but I mow, edge, and blow about 10 acres here year round. Before this unit, for about 5+ years I've used the Husqvarna 326RJ trimmer, 326EX edger, and 674HWT push trimmer (the lawnmower style) for years. I'm tired of tuning them and chasing ethanol-free gas. Since getting this Stihl, I've felt it is an upgrade on performance and now I am going to convert all to battery. So I am looking to buy the Stihl FCA 140 edger next. My only concern in a commercial role is your cost on batteries, as I think you would need to have several in reserve and they are not cheap. I get a lot of run time from mine (it has never limited my work in the course of a day), but not sure that would be enough for your situation. I also own the Stihl MSA200 14" chain saw, which shares the same battery design. A couple times I have used that battery as the backup battery to the default AP-300-S on this trimmer. Maybe you can get better pricing than I can on parts from Stihl? I think their batteries are way too expensive. Cost aside, the power is there and the units are solid. I would not hesitate to use them from that respect. I wish you the best.

    any overheating issues? I have 2 and they both quit when hot (i have a large commercial with 15+ hours of trimming). I loved them until it got hot, now they suck

    • @ApacheRanch
      @ApacheRanch  Рік тому +1

      Wow I haven’t encountered that yet, but I guess it’s possible with electric motors. Not good. I’ve never ran mine for 15 hours. It’s a Stihl. It should run at least a full work day.

      @@ApacheRanch I can get through about 2 or 3 ap300s batteries when the temp is 25 Celsius, then they sit on the trailer. I have a fsa135r as well with no issues but I don't like it for extended sessions as it feels like a boat anchor after using the 130

    Is the string head the same old self load type ?
