I didn't learn this until very late and it was been very valuable. I used to wake up with back pain and it was pretty chronic. Then I began a stretching and walking program and the back pain went away. Bolstered by that situation and knowledge I continue to look for answers as far as what more I could do and to improve my bone density. I had no idea about the relation between muscles and bones. And then I found your channel. So grateful.

Stretching is definitely helpful for improved movement and feeling better. I do the reaching upward stretch whenever I think of it during the day, focus on the spine straightness it gives, and slowly lower my arms while maintaining the straight back. It resets my poor posture and makes me conscious of maintaining better posture.

Hi Sarah, I remember you said you drink kefir. Did that help you at all with your RA? Also, are you taking any meds to manage RA or are you managing it with just exercise and wholesome diet? I asked because my RA has been getting more and more painful when I wake up each day. I drink kefir daily that I make myself with the grains. But it's not really helping much. I heard that kefir could help, that is why I started drinking since Dec 2023. I have not seen a rheumatologists at this stage and wondering if I should. Hope to hear your kind reply.

I think kefir is good for us generally and I like drinking it. I am not sure if it makes a difference for my RA... I drink it and still have flare ups. Sigh. I have been prescribed medication for my RA, but I am not currently taking anything. I am not opposed to doing so though. I want to maintain the ability to use my hands and medication may become necessary at some point. I use yoga really gently and carefully to get into my body and to be able to use both my hands and my feet every day. I know what you mean about waking up stiff. I know that for me, things are worse if I eat sugar, feel stressed, or have had bad sleep. I find that having a shower with warm water first thing in the morning is also really helpful for becoming les stiff. I don't know if that helps, but I hope so ❤

@@sarahmapes_bonebuildersystem Thanks! It's good to know that for now you are still able manage without needing to take meds. I do get worried when i see bone deformation in the long run as a result of RA. I am really not sure if mine is RA but my rheumatoid factor has always been on the higher side in my annual bloodwork. I should go see a specialist soon. As for kefir, i was really sold on the idea from a you tuber that it helps with arthritis including RA but i think maybe the notion is overhyped.
      Take care!

What is your opinion on Yin Yoga to help promote bone "growth"? Thank you for your videos.

Yin yoga can be a wonderful way to stretch and develop flexibility, but it is not a good way to promote new bone growth. If you find an osteoporosis safe yin class that could still be lots of fun though ❤

@@sarahmapes_bonebuildersystem Thank you for your reply. I agree Yin yoga may not be the best for osteoporosis, which I unfortunately have. But I do yoga, pilates, and weight bearing exercises. I really enjoy your channel.
