I tried this shooting form before watching this and I gotta say it actually works, people always told me to be square and shoot over my head but I simply couldn't shoot like that and could barely shoot for 3. I tried shooting like Liliard and it feels so different, easy release without that extra tension and more accuracy
I'm glad it worked out well for you!
@@ScotShotBasketball what angle do you think his feet are on?
As much as 45°? 🤔
Finally someone who knows how to shoot
Love the vid man. Subbing for sure. I've also noticed that Dame doesn't tuck his elbow in at his set point. Coaches will tell you to have your elbow tucked in at set point so that your forearm is vertical. But he bows his arm just a bit. This has always been a tendency in my shot as well and I think it's because it's not natural. It's hard to find the balance between what's textbook and what's actually more natural and comfortable for you since in my opinion a jump shot is all about feel.
Interesting point. I think biomechanics are the most important thing to consider for things like this. The ratio of the lengths between your joints are very important (shoulder to elbow and elbow to wrist). This as well as your natural shoulder joint angle and your flexibility are all factors for jumpshot form. So I agree it's about finding a balance between what's "textbook" and natural. That being said, I take the stance that some things are very important for good shooting and that's what I highlight in my videos. Thanks for the Sub!
This ws a great breakdown! Thank you for this video
thanks man, appreciate the support!
Damian also has a relaxed hand is what i have noticed. Thanks for the video
I need to watch this video every day

Thanks for the support, I'm a full time student so I'm quite busy. Look for me to post videos when I get some time off!
Hey I love the videos! I have a low setpoint like most guards in the NBA, I have no problem generating power beyond the 3 point line and have great arch as long as my I shoot it quickly, but I found that in games when I'm shooting closer to the rim I don't have as much touch. My coach is saying I need to jump higher but I know that's a recipe for disaster since the higher I jump when I shoot the less control I have, also I have a floppy release most of the time and everyone is saying its to floppy but I can't control it, just happens naturally. Any advice?
Great vid bro!
how does he get rotation if he’s a palm shooter? I shoot almost completely on my palm. I can still drill shots but there’s no rotation
Always shot like this. 5th grade aau teacher tries to get me to adjust until he saw how good of a shot I had. I think being undersized you have to have a quick and low shot
This helped a lot thanks
great video,
Love your videos! Awesome advice. However I have a problem with my jumper in generating energy and power from my legs when I shoot from far. I barely jump when i shoot like lilard and steph and that works for me when I shoot from from close or mid range. I barely miss BUT when i go beyond the 3 pt line I struggle to generate power. How can I fix this problem?
+Scot Shot Basketball sent it
great video man , but I need a little help , I can't shoot efficiently from the 3 , but my mid range is great and I can finish at the basket , any tips for shooting further ?

How do you find a comfortable set point likr imagine shootingbnear your eye dont feel comfortable and you shoot a two motion shot and that feeld confortablr like how can i find my comfortable set point is there any drill or something like that
Tough to answer without seeing you shoot, check the description if you want individualized coaching
How to magic/Evan era 💀
I think he jumps a lot higher on his shots now
good job😎
I think that it is very similar to Stephen curry's shooting form,am ı right or am ı badly wrong?
I think you're very right. There are some small differences but they are more related to the player's different biomechanics than anything else.
Curry = true one motion shooter
Dame = quick two motion shooter
can you do Paul George??
His shot looks the most effortless even more so then Steph's imo
Idk about that one chief
@@vinuzo9548 thats why i said 'imo" for "in my opinion" cadet
Is Damian Lillard's shot a one motion or two motion shot?
Michael Lopez it's one motion but how is that helping you
There is no way this guy shoots 37 percent no way
kemba
1st
lol who would want to learn how to shoot 41.9% from the field during the regular season and 36.8% in the playoffs??
these are tips to help your shooting, which it did for me. you don't have to completely copy his form
He shot 38% from 3 last year which is definitely good. I agree that his field goal percentages are not to be admired but if you watch him play, you'd have to agree that he misses a lot near the rim because defenses can load up on him due to the lack of talent on the trailblazers. those misses shouldn't be factored in when you talk about jumpshooting.
I guess, that would explain a low field goal percentage at the rim. But even when he had good teammates like Lamarcus Aldridge, he was still a pretty inefficient scorer. In addition, shooting less than 37% in the playoffs is unacceptable no matter what teammates you have. Lillard's career best Fg% was 43.2 last year. That's just plain bad. I still enjoy watching him play though and he is a top player in the league.
I think you're making valid basketball points here. However, I make videos about shooting and field goal percentages are a result of more than just a jumpshot. I don't think you can argue that Lillard has a bad jumpshot. You can say he makes bad decisions, takes tough shots, is not athletic enough to get open, is too small to be efficient, has bad teammates etc. I'll stick by what I think about his shot mechanics. Thanks for your thoughts!
This comment didnt age well😂
Lillard and Irving copied Steph Curry' shot!
Obviously not.. they shoot differently
