I had been wrestling with trying to clean wayward food particles out of the front of these Samsung drawers for a month now. I had the hubby do the disassembly following your video instructions. To prevent the need of disassembling these ridiculously designed drawers, we are going to permanently seal the entire crevice with a clear acrylic caulk. Thank you for posting your video. There is a ridiculously placed reset switch inside the ice maker. You have to pull the ice drawer out, locate the switch at the top, back, right and hold it for about 3 seconds.

@@WRLAustralia It took 3 tries for my ice maker to work well. Samsung has recently come up with a new computer board to help reset the entire ice maker to keep from freezing up. Because I was under warranty it didn't cost me anything and I'm glad of that. I haven't had any problems, knock on wood, since that board was installed aprox. 5 months ago. All previous attempts to replace the ice maker were only temporarily fixed and the problems would start up again (leaking water when the ice dispenser was utilized and then freeing up in the unit itself). If you continue to have problems I would hope you could recommend to your Samsung repair person a new computer board, if they haven't offered that option already.
I've found it useful after you pull the ice drawer out to use mugs of boiling hot water inside the ice compartment to melt the ice. You just have to line the plastic with a towel so it doesn't melt the plastic and replenish the mugs frequently with new hot water to melt it. It works even with the fridge doors closed. Hope it's useful! It's not a preventative measure but at least you can use it again.
Thank you for this video. NOTE: you do not need to go though step one and remove the white plastic. Also do not push all the way in step two as you will end up breaking either the bottom of the drawer or the front panel. Instead, press on the tab on each side and push front panel away from the drawer. Once the bottom is released, rotate the front panel and it will come off.

Ha ha got me. It broke on both sides. You couldn't actually show how to "just pop that up" with a camera less than 5 feet away, could you? As in, exactly WHERE did you put in the screwdriver? My drawer is now trashed. Thank you. You win.
@@juliatillery7805 hardly the video's fault. Samsung has at least 5(that I've seen) different drawer designs, all with terrible, fiddly clips in different spots on plastic that goes through a fair amount of temp fluctuations and gradually gets more brittle. Samsung gives you the choice of breaking them or letting crumbs and mold build up.

Thanks for the video! Removing the white trim from the top of the drawer is actually not necessary. Its comes apart and goes back together with it being attached.
Letha W- thank you for this! As an aside, this method has worked for me every time. But I'd much rather have a crack in the drawers than food particles trapped in these horrible drawers!
Thank You! I finally found the time to clean the fridge, and scrubbed and scrubbed on both sides of these drawers, but couldn't get at the crud. Thought that surely they must come apart, but how? Checked manual; nothing there. And found you! I'm not sure how you figured it out, but I'm glad you did. I used the skinniest screwdriver I could find so as not to break the plastic. Thank you so much.
This method does NOT work for the 4-door model (2018). No tabs. Instead there are plastic studs where Letha shows tabs. But her video made be aware how the drawer is constructed (so Kudos). For this model. the top plate /trim does not remove. At the studs, you must place a flat object into, and pry forward where the face plate meets the body of drawer. This is not a sustainable method of cleaning because the plastic can / will crack when passing over the stud. The solution is to separate the face place, clean well, reassemble and then place a clear silicon caulk line on the inside of the drawer along the the length of the seam where the drawer meets the face plate. And, yes, what an insanely stupid design by Samsung, an unfortunate trend of poor engineering and design which afflicts the connectivity of both Samsung Smart TVs which I own.
THANK YOU! I thought it was possible to take it apart and it was getting a bit gross. So glad I googled it. Bless you for saving my fridge! I really appreciate you!
YES! Thank you for taking the time to make this video and post it. I am certain that I would have turned that three-piece plastic drawer into a DOZEN pieces if I tried it without watching this video.
Thank you for this instruction. It is far more than Sumsung supply. Most likely because, this is the stupidest drawer design ever. I followed your instructions however found that both the top strip and front of drawer where much stiffer/harder causing brittle plastic to crack. This was despite the fact that I took great care trying not to damage anything. Now I need to find out whether anyone supplies parts for these drawers. Thanks again for the great video.

Thanks so much! I'm a pretty handy guy and I couldn't figure this out to save my life! It wouldn't be so bad if dirt couldn't get in there. What a terrible design!
Found your video during my 1000th time trying to clean the drawers on our fridge.....known in our household as Samsuck due to several issues .....but I digress. Anyway....we were finally able to clean the gunk between the layers of the crisper drawers thanks to your informative video. We are absolutely jubilant...for real!! Bless you!!
Thank you for posting this! Unfortunately, I just tried this and the top part (silver for my model) cracked in several places. We didn’t want to force the front off so I just resorted to using my kitchen faucet sprayer to spray out as much of the crumbs as I could. Now there’s some water trapped there but most of the crumbs and gunk are out so I’ll take it. What a shitty design! For a fridge that was nearly $2000 (on sale), I really expect a whole lot more.
Thanks for taking the time to put the video online. I tried the method in the video, but could not get the door tabs to click out. I also tried hot water without success and managed to crack a little area. I gave up with the screwdriver and thought about it a bit. Finally decided to use my AIR COMPRESSOR. Took a few minutes, but if you direct the compressed air in the area where she puts the screwdriver and run it all around the seams, eventually it will blow all the debris out. Sweet. It worked a treat looks and looks better now. I guess for spilt milk and maybe liquid mess that gets gathered in there then soak in hot water first then blow it out with a compressor - should work fine. Good luck!
Nicely done Letha - guessing the design has something to do with air circulation otherwise why would Samsung go the extra step (and expense) of segmenting the front of the drawer that way. Using a narrow flat-head screwdriver and the edge of the drawer as a fulcrum was just the thing. Having your bravery and cleverness as inspiration made the job easy and fast! Thanks:)
Shame for samsung desiners to build a dirt trap in this drawer and it's almost impossiblie to clean and open. We all need to protest for recall and replacements. We spent 4 hours and then the plastic break.
Thank you for this video I am so glad to finally get this clean. There are some lessons (thanks to some of the comments below too): 1. The top strip comes off fairly easily, but I had a tiny piece break. Don't stick the screwdriver in too far. 2. Before taking off the front panel use a hairdryer to warm up the plastic, in particular the plastic in the bottom corners where the 'tabs' are. 3. Continuing on the front panel, you will find one side is much harder (ie. "impossible") to dislodge. Don't "stress" the plastic and damage it, go to the other side. 4. In learning the above I did lose a couple of small pieces of plastic, but nothing affecting functionality or the cosmetics. If you follow the video with the above in mind you may get through undamaged! I finally have clean drawers :)
Thanks for the video. But I must say that it is completely unreasonable for the end user of these refrigerators to be expected to go through all this just to have a sanitary refrigerator. Very bad design! The drawer should be factory sealed so that no food products can leak in between the parts.
If you're going to attempt this, I would let the drawer warm up first! Can't guarantee it won't break, but you'll stand a better chance...also, they're not all 100% the same! Mine look very similar but the tabs release differently
First I bent and ruined the white molding, would not come off, then I broke the lower clips and my screwdriver. Thanks for the video not your fault these are just not meant to come apart and breakage is likely.
Hi Letha W! so pleased to find your video! Thanks for doing this! Maybe it will save a few marriages (below) but at least I can properly clean my drawers! And, I suspect, I will have to be careful to make sure I see the tab I am "clicking". :)
Totally worked! TY! Side note, I got away with avoiding the first step (removing the silver bezel/handle piece) on a Samsung fridge that's only 3 years old. All other steps were needed.
What I did was use an exacto knife to whittle down the bottom 2 tabs first, so that they take much less effort to pop. Still hold fine, but just need a little pressure to pop rather than a lot of force which risks cracking the plastic. QED :-)
This Samsung design is THE worst. They have made the design of the drawers SO complicated in order to clean them! You might think they did this design on purpose just so there is a chance of breaking it so you’ll have to buy the part, which are VERY expensive! I do NOT recommend there products!!!
Whew! Only one broken tab when I ( mistakenly) asked hubby for a bit if help. Otherwise the salmonella risk is now lowered. Next fridge will be taken apart completely in store before any purchase is made. Curse you Samsung engineers!
So, I say to my wife, "What are the odds there's a video on YT showing me how to disassemble the drawers for my Samsung frig?" Answer: 100%, evidently! Thank you!!!
That noise you hear is the plastic breaking. Any company that would make such a complicated system to do something as simple as cleaning food debris from a simple drawer sho/uld be made to pay for ever broken drawer theey forced on the consumers.
I am so pissed...thousands of dollars for a fridge that was designed by very very unintelligent men who have never cleaned a fridge in their entire life!!! Almost broke my drawer so now I just soak my drawers and shelves in hot soapy water and sometimes have to use the hose to get the rest which is easier than taking the pieces of trash apart. There are dozens of other places all over the unit that trap food. You pretty much have to give it a full detail like a car with qtips, toothpicks, and a sponge. Worst refrigerator design EVER. The ice is really bad too...small, irregular, freezer burned, and white not clear at all. My old fridge had great cubes!!! Samsung sucks!!!Thank you...NEXT!!! 🗑
Thank You so much. I had somehow gotten pieces of shredded cheese stuck in the front pocket of one of my drawers. Realizing it was impossible to clean (after 24 hours of soaking and rinsing) I thought it would be there indefinitely. I could see the openings on either side of the drawers but did not know how to get it open. It took a lot of effort for me to get the white piece off and I had to slide a larger flathead screwdriver up underneath the lip to allow me to completely get it off. Then I actually cracked one side of the drawer a little bit (at the bottom) while trying to pop the bottom off. But most importantly I cleaned it and got the cheese out ! Thank You for the video, just be careful when popping the bottom off so you do not crack it like I did.
Tried doing this procedure and ended up cracking the bottom part. Im not blaming you but whoever came up with this design needs to get punched in the face.
I wouldn't try this. Plastic gets brittle over time and cracking is the potential outcome before it unsnap. My Samsung has cracks in several door clear fronts and a crack appeared on the lowest shelf right in the center. Nothing we did caused the cracks. It's the cheap method of design and engineering of consumer products in today's economy. In the past engineers designed. Now the bean counters tell the engineers what they have to design. Appliances today will never outlive the appliances they are replacing. It's as simple as that.
Korea has such great appliances but, the design staff need to be fired! Please simplify. I agree, otherwise there is a special place in hell for these guys.
SOLUTION (without breaking the plastic): run the white plastic under the hot tap (or use a hair dryer) until it gets hot. This will make it more pliable and less brittle. Use a metal bottle-opener keyring (with the hook-shape) to lever the inside lip of the white plastic up in small increments along the length. When you need to lever out the ends of the white plastic, use a flat, stiff butter knife to lift the white plastic instead of a screwdriver (see this video). The click sound referred to is the mild adhesive sealant that Samsung pasted in between the surfaces detaching. Levering the bottom holes with a screwdriver achieves this snap sound but you need the butter knife again to help the two clear plastic parts away from each other. Take your time and use minimum pressure. Hope this helps. Nowhere on the web has a good description.
there is no way in hell a butter knife will fit in that small square hole post a video on how you would go about sticking a butter knife in that small hole this i would love to see !!
This does not look like fun! I thank you for the instructions, however; I’m very scared I may brake those little snaps, so many people ended up breaking theirs! Not a very good design!
If you do successfully remove and clean the fronts of these drawers use a clear kitchen sealant to fill the gap thus preventing future buildup of food in this annoying spot.
First, I'll thank the user for posting this video (since Samsung offers no help), although I did break two drawers trying to do this. I broke one side of the first drawer and was able to get some of the gunk out of the drawer by spraying with my kitchen faucet with a jet stream of water through the little hole on the side where you can pry the screwdriver in and then the gunk came out of the broken end. I guess having a broken tab on one side and being able to get some of the nasty crap out of there inspired me to break the second drawer to do the same thing. Crappy design just like the ice maker that never works unless you use it 5x a day, which currently is a large brick of ice. I also have a Samsung dishwasher (crap) and a microwave (it works). I'll never buy another Samsung appliance again. They should stick to making TVs.
THANKS for this straight-forward process video! I love my Samsung T9000 refrigerator (which I have had for 3 years), but have found the 2 drawers in the upper section to be impossible to clean THOROUGHLY...even soaking didn't work. Something had leaked in one of the drawers and it collected between where the front of the drawer overlaps. I had found no way to reach the soiled area and it was driving me nuts! Your instruction was perfect and I followed it without any problem. ~BLESSINGS~
Thank you so much. This design is driving me crazy. Ours did not come apart as easy as yours did, but your video was so helpful. I lined the bottom of the drawers with paper towel and I HOPE this will help keep the tiny crumbs out of this ridiculous crumb trap. :)
Thank you so much! I have (unsuccessfully) tried cotton swabs, tiny brushes and toothpicks but there are still ugly bits stuck in there. I tried to figure out how to take it apart but didn't want to break it!
Thanks for video. I wonder if a bit of silicone would prevent mess entering that gap, and prevent drawer from having to be taken apart again. Has anyone tried it?
Thank-you it worked. My wife found your video after I told her that it wasn't meant to be taken apart. So thanks, I guess. It would probably be a good idea not to do this with a cold drawer as there would be a greater risk of the tabs breaking. I soaked the front section in warm soapy water prior to attempting this and it worked fine, just like in the video.
Letha W, thank you for taking the time and effort to post this seemingly mundane video, but when your refrigerator needs a serious deep cleaning, and you have a French door Samsung, this is the one to watch.
I really think this fridge is fantastic... apart from the difficulty of these pernickety cleaning jobs. Thanks so much for your helpful vid, Letha. I must admit I still found this procedure very difficult, and even with your good instructions I still cracked the bottom a bit. I hope Samsung fixes this silly design glitch soon and we can retro-fit these parts. Cheers!
Thank you so much for making this video. I was so annoyed that stuff got in the middle of the front and I couldnt spray it out. And you're the only one that shows how to get it seperated that I could find
Thanks you SOOOOOOO much for this!! Words literally cannot express my gratitude. If it weren’t for this I would have probably killed my fridge with fire or something cause it was so nasty to look at. I still broke the drawer a bit as a small piece cracked off but at least it’s clean.
I have a different Samsung refrigerator and the drawer pulled apart. Samsung were hopeless in giving help on how to fix it. Your video gave me the confidence to have a go myself, so I took out a screwdriver and had a go. Fixed it in minutes and saved myself £45 for a new drawer. Thank you so much!

Thanks so much! I'm a pretty handy guy and I couldn't figure this out to save my life! It wouldn't be so bad if dirt couldn't get in there. What a terrible design!
THANK YOU! I broke every nail and a piece off the drawer, but it was totally worth it to get the gunk out!
Welp. Mine came off after the plastic broke and came flying off when I tried this. Bummer. New drawer needed.:(
OMG I love the internet. Thank you!
Good luck!
This works! Condensed air also
This is wonderful. Thought I was going to have to buy new drawers. This saved me a lot of money. Thanks
I was super careful, and I still broke my drawer using this method.
Jenine Weinstein same
same. wish I would have read the comments before trying this. just cracked my drawer and deformed the front seal! BS
Same in two places. Im seriously thinking of trying to find a plastic container to fit inside to avoid this problem again.
I cannot believe this is what is expected to clean a crisper drawer! Thank you, I had given up.
Thank you for this video I am so glad to finally get this clean. There are some lessons (thanks to some of the comments below too):
Thanks for this! This was very helpful.
Totally worked! TY! Side note, I got away with avoiding the first step (removing the silver bezel/handle piece) on a Samsung fridge that's only 3 years old. All other steps were needed.
Thank you SO much for this! Couldn’t find this info anywhere on the Samsung site! Plus, it’s just a crappy design 😢
Thank you so much for posting this. It is good to know how to do it and how much force you need to apply.
What I did was use an exacto knife to whittle down the bottom 2 tabs first, so that they take much less effort to pop. Still hold fine, but just need a little pressure to pop rather than a lot of force which risks cracking the plastic. QED :-)
I'm thinking if I manage to clean it. I would use a clear silicone sealant or even cello tape to seal the gap.
I cracked mine too, even with these good instructions. And I'm quite handy, so Samsung: please fix.
Mine cracked as well, it's really a terrible design : (
Why do you put your hands in the way? A close up would have helped. Thanks anyway. At least I know it comes apart.
I cracked the white part when I tried. Guess I’ll just have dirty drawers. This is the only thing I hate about my Samsung fridge.
Thank You a million times! I'm embarrassed to say how long I've spent on trying to figure that out!
Thank you SO much for posting this!! Worked like a charm
Tried doing this procedure and ended up cracking the bottom part. Im not blaming you but whoever came up with this design needs to get punched in the face.
Your video was a life changer I just got to go buy a screwdriver
Take my advice and put it in the top shelf dishwasher. So much easier and comes out great.
This does not look like fun! I thank you for the instructions, however; I’m very scared I may brake those little snaps, so many people ended up breaking theirs! Not a very good design!
Thank you for this!! I was losing my mind trying to figure how to clean the bottom front.
Thank you! At last, clean drawers!! Samsung you suck!
If you do successfully remove and clean the fronts of these drawers use a clear kitchen sealant to fill the gap thus preventing future buildup of food in this annoying spot.
Out there doing God’s work. Thank you!!
Thank you so much, I have a diffrent drawer but the concept is the same
First, I'll thank the user for posting this video (since Samsung offers no help), although I did break two drawers trying to do this.
Thank you for the video I was going insane standing for over half hr wasting my time by the sink trying to figure it out.
Your are a life saver!!
Thank you for this! I’ve been pulling at my drawers - even standing in them and pulling!- with no luck. Thank you!
Thank you very much! This video was a life saver 👏🙂
~BLESSINGS~
Yes, talk about the worst design! Wait till the dishwasher goes- I bought a Samsung dw too!
I'd been wrestling with it for10 mins until I decided to search for this. Thank you!
Happy to help!
Great instructions!! Thanks for doing this
Thank you so much.
Thank you so much! This is EXACTLY what I needed!
Thank you so much. my mom has what i refer to as OCCD obsessive compulsive cleaning disorder and this was totally stressing her out. you are a heroine
THANK YOU. This worked perfectly. I’ve been looking for the solution to no avail.
Letha W, thank you for taking the time and effort to post this seemingly mundane video, but when your refrigerator needs a serious deep cleaning, and you have a French door Samsung, this is the one to watch.
Thank you so much for the video 😀
Samsung refrigerators SUCK
Thank you SOOO much for sharing how to get the drawer apart. I had almost given up and purchased a new one!
But my white part snapped as I tried it. Stupid fridge.
Worked for me. Thank you!
Saving time and money- hurray!
