Send Ty France to AAA. I can’t believe he was still on this team to start the year.
And Garver. Polanco. Haniger. Canzone...
Okay Jerry, we're waiting....
M's should make "an aggressive move" only if they feel that they are close and need just a little more - like we should have done in 2001-2003. We're not close. There are too many holes on the roster. To expect that the ENTIRE offensive roster does a 180 flip for the next 3 months and becomes productive is a fantasy. Maybe get some bullpen help. Maybe find a cheap alternative for Polanco/France/Robles etc. Maybe a backup catcher that can help. Nothing big & certainly nothing that robs future potential.
Passan is right. The time is NOW. This is the window for the Mariners to be great with this pitching staff. NOT 3 years from now hoping some prospects come up and kill it while the pitching we have is on their way out. That is an awful awful risk to take. Do. It. Now.
The time was two years ago. They could see the pitching was coming and the hitting wasn’t there. Keep going with budget bats on the decline. Now they need more than one or two bats. Not likely they will get enough bats and they will blow up the system.
Ty France, Mitch Haniger and Jorge Polanco have to go.
It would be nice, but with the draft this Sunday, even Jeff should know that is extremely unlikely. Nevermind, the amount of teams still in the Wild Card race especially in the NL.
THE TIME IS NOW!
Hate say it. Change is needed and it’s at the top almost the top, Scott needs to go. Had plenty of time these last few years to get these guys to perform at least at a average major league level. But it hasn’t happen and is getting worst and the philosophy must change. Either Jerry fires himself or Scott but someone has to go and shake things up. Sometimes change of faces is needed and now is the time.
I have been saying that for a while. So I totally agree.
I have PTSD when I think about Scott trotting robbie ray out of the bullpen late in that game. With his tight pants grunting while throwing meatballs down the middle. And Scott is still making boneheaded decisions to this day. He needs to gtfoh NOW
You can fire Servais, but that doesn't treat the malignant tumor that is DeHart, Dipoto, and Stanton. Stanton refuses to spend money, Dipoto cannot scout talent to save his life, and DeHart is the most inept hitting coach in the league. Not disagreeing, but removing one dude because he's the obvious target ignores the serious issues elsewhere.
I think you ate 1 too many jars of paste if you blame Servais and Dipoto for our anemic offense, but if you do then you also need to credit them for our dominant pitching staff. However, if you’re blaming Stanton then I apologize for the above comment about eating too much glue and couldn’t agree with you more. Mariners were literally the number 1 most profitable team in the mlb last year(highest net income), even above the Yankees, and our payroll went down. You can only do so much without spending on free agents or tanking to line up your minor league system to all mature at once (like the Royals & Orioles). At the end of the day Mariners need to make another Castillo move, but for the offense AKA sign a big name bat and spend the money to retain him.
@@PropaneIsLife look at the few players that have left or were not offered a new contract and have been hitting on other teams. They leave and then they hit ?? Why is that. I don’t know but some of the greatest managers in the game have been replaced because maybe they’ve been there to long and the team isn’t responding to him anymore. It happens, that Scott just can’t get anymore out of the team so it’s time for a change that’s all I’m saying.
You can talk all you want about an aggressive move. But when are these hitters going to take ownership. In a typical plate appearance the Mariners take the first pitch. Which is a fast ball in the middle of the plate. After that they going to work swinging at every breaking ball/off speed pitch out of the strike zone. The fact of the matter is that these guys want to be a hero(home run) when they turn into a zero(striking out). When these Mariners get two strikes they need to put the ball in play. Instead of striking out trying to hit home runs. It's insane.
Nailed it. They are not aggressive enough. Though in last night's game they were more aggressive and it paid off. I do think the lack of ambition early at the plate is part of DeHart and Servais' strategy to drive pitchers into deeper counts and get to the pen sooner. That only works when your lineup can make quality contact when getting thrown junk. Which they are abysmal at.
JP Crawford is COMPLETELY overrated! Had one “ Decent “ year and a mediocre organization extends him a contract.
No, he’s actually pretty dang good. He really knows how to work the count, plays solid defense, and leads the clubhouse!
L comment. This guy makes the pitcher work every at bat and is incredible in the field.
L Comment??
Many M’s fans feel the exact same way.
Career .248 hitter with no power ( Minus his best year last year w/19 )
I never said JP was a bad player he’s just no ALL STAR like some fans think he is.
In order to buy, they need a seller. No one will sell until the trade deadline
Passan is wrong.
This team can't make enough big trades to improve the offense enough to be almost average.
They should make a few small trades to get a few quality contact hitters and hope that Julio gets hot.
Or if you're looking at it from ownership and Jerry's perspective, they won't win this year no matter what, but they still have a chance to trade away the future.
Won’t happen: they have no money while being #1 on Forbes list of most profitable teams blah blah we have no money or some such nonsense
If the Mariners announced tomorrow that they traded Emerson Hancock and 3 minor league prospects for Vladimir Guerrero and another speedy outfield prospect [which is the solution if you want to win a World Series] I couldn’t allow myself to be excited even if we went on a tear and won the Divisional Championship by 20 games. Why? Two words: Scott Service.
If you're going to write a paragraph to attack one guy, you might as well spell his name correctly in the grand reveal.
@@Franchise364 thank you Franchy!
It’s easy to make sense of JP Crawford not being good: He’s never been good. That was easy. Mariners fan overrate that guy so much.
Completely over rated! Country club fan base and media turned him into a Seattle darling somehow.
Appreciate his energy and passion but skill set as a shortstop is below MLB average
"The time is now for the Mariners to make an 'aggressive move'."
WRONG.
The time was the last two offseasons to make aggressive MOVES. That's why they have a lineup now that can't hit water if they fell out of a boat. They half-stepped their way through the 2022 and 2023 off seasons.
Aggressive now = overpaying for overrated players not even good enough to be a part of their current team's future. It means overpaying for guys who won't hit better IN SEATTLE than the burnouts they already traded for.
Haniger, Graver, Polo and the golden child.. Trade all of them DFA what you cant... Send TY to AAA he has an option. hopefully you can break even with the golden childs contract.. but i doubt it.. no team wants a 200 mil player with a stat line like this dude.. Fire Scott.. been there way to long ZERO results....
