2 changes I would LOVE for blizz to think about is giving feral another a third baseline single target ability. I hate just spamming shred after applying rake. Back in Cata atleast we had mangle which applied the increased bleed buff which was enough to satisfy me. There is of course Moonfire as talent choice but it's damage is sooooo low and to much energy feels like a waste. Make Moonfire cost 10 energy and that would make sense. Second change would to make Savage Roar just a updated buff to Tiger's Fury, just like Incarnation is to Berserk. It would help make the row not only damage choice decisions but how you gain back/use energy decisions. Soul of the Forest- passive regen Incarnation- doesn't give back regen far as I know but does reduce ability cost by half with a decent CD Savage Roar- would be short CD doing something slightly different from Tiger's Fury but still gives back energy with damage buff.
feral main since BC, still staying feral, but really butthurt about losing Glyph of Savage Roar, as it made the buildup time for getting your rotation going not as much of a pain in the ass. oh well, i still love the spec. great vid preach
You can try use SR and elune's guidance. It's really enjoyable. You EG SR rake, moonfire (with LI, which I like) and then you can already Blood talons rip. It's actually better than WoD openers imo. I've never had more fun on feral, as every 45 I have really strong fast paced action. Way better than the 30sec TF that is supposed to be the mini burst (although with HFC, TF was perrmanent lol). Just my opinion, I think you'll enjoy feral.
life would be easy with out SR. I agree all day. It's a pain to have to push a button to maintain your damage and feel like you're losing out put. But it's worth it for the next 45 second. My complaint is about our laughable aoe. Realistically I should get up bleeds on all targets. Yet warlocks can do that at range. We don't feel unique. We did with RO-RO from throne of thunder, but they killed cool trinkets. -Feral since TBC
Vendetta Gaming Yeah I just wish they buff swipe and thrash, gave an AoE finisher and just stop us having to spread bleeds everywhere individually. It is a pain in the ass for sure.
how about just as little idea that struck me for ferals: instead of the usual more combo points = more effect/damage or so on. they reverse it, so using a finisher with less points has the best efficiency for energy spent/output. set this up as a talent and u'd get the ferocious feeling of a wild cat constantly tearing into it's target. also u'd need the change the builders around so that they generate 2/3 as base, but when they crit they generate 1 less combo point. simple idea, and i know it's unlikely to ever get implemented or even seen here, but it's an idea.
not really. it's just changing the style from banking up combo points like rogues, to wanting to spend them as soon as possible without banking them. the fewer points u spend when using a finisher, the effect is worth more than if u spend more combo points. this would allow for a very fast and ferocious play style, while allowing talents that slow things down to have a better fit :D in my humble opinion anyway.
Preach, I believe what Blizzard could have done to solve the feral AOE issue is what they did for hunters back in WOTLK with the stacking barrage buff. If you remember back to wrath, casting "Barrage" as a marksman hunter would buff you, stacking up to 3 times. If my memory serves me right, this buff reduced the energy cost or reduced the crit chance of your next barrage; (I can't remember which). Even Survival Hunters had a modification of this where "Barrage" would apply "Serpent Sting" to every target. If Blizzard revived this mechanic and implemented it, (Maybe even enhancing the cat-like fantasy with a spreading bleed, etc.) this would certainly be a interesting and REWARDING mechanic; Just as I remember it being a TON of fun on my hunter.
I really like the Affinity system for Druids. I have played Feral Druid since Vanilla where all your forms mattered and a good Druid used all of them. I understand that has to be very hard to balance, but this at least gives me the illusion that my other forms matter and it's not just 'cat form all the bloody time'. Also, I have two cats and they are incredibly precise and meticulous. They never miss their mark. They can sit on a fence for half an hour and all it takes is for a bird to fly too close once and the cat swats it from mid-air with one lightning quick, precise, perfectly timed swipe.
+gamblor67 yup. And not to mention every ranged class is really bad at the beginning of each expansion because the lack of haste and stats. Every class you see will be Melee in pvp.
Brutal slash would be for cleave fights, the charge system balances it a bit. The thing is cats were never amazing at 2-3 target cleaving because swipe didnt generate combo points. The fact that this one does means that in cleave fights where you have 1 primary target plus a couple secondary targets you are after you can actually use your AoE without hurting your single target DPS.
To be fair ferals have kind of had that ability for a long time. One of the major strengths of the spec (since MoP) has been how you can do great cleave damage almost without your single target damage suffering at all.
I never really thought about it before, but I agree with the weird fantasy thing. When I think of a cat, I think of speed and fast reflexes, not really raw and slow power, and when I think of a feral animal, I think of something that does not conciously think about what it does, it just lets instinct take over and do what needs to be done without any higher thought. The Feral Druid spec is the complete opposite of these things, being one of the slowest melee specs still in the game even with the speed being increased in Legion, and a very thought oriented spec due to it being the only spec still with snapshotting and talents like Bloodtalons, and just sitting back and going through the motions without thinking about it will lead to a larger dps loss than most other specs.
also Savage Roar now lasts only half its duration in Legion. So you will have to rebuff it way more often (and thus decreasing the amount of bites / bleeds you can do)
For me this spec has been a blast, I've never been a fan of Feral until this point so it's been something that is fresh for me but I do see some of the points you make
I agree with mostly everything you said. And I'm one of those feral mains who plan on rolling a new class, mainly because feral has stayed mostly the same for several expansions, while other classes have gotten amazing new features and whole new set of distinguished animations. The feral attack animations have definitely improved, but not really by much. it just looks a little smoother. That's not really what I would expect. I want to see new unique abilities, and I want to see feral shine the way it should. Like a warrior really shows his strength and fury in a battle, a paladin radiates with holy light, A demon hunter flows through enemies, and a warlock bursts with the infamous Fel. A feral druid just looks like a cat, a cooler cat in legion, but still just a cat. The cat form feels so static and bland. Sooner or later I just hope that the way the cat form behaves will get revamped somehow. Maybe I'm asking about too much, I understand the difficulties of making an animals attacks more interesting. Anyways, done with my rant for today, sorry for wall of text.
I'm actually re rolling Feral Druid for Legion, was having a blast on the beta compared to other specs. Also Preach, I would recommend using Elune's Guidance with Savage Roar, great set up for people who are new to Feral, will also help with your AoE! Pop Elune's Guidance, Savage Roar, Thrash, Brutal Slash, Swipe for filler, rinse and repeat. I also want to add in the fact that once you have the artifact power, we will obtain Shadow Thrash, which will help our AoE damage Immensely!
Feral seems amazing. I havn't played feral since... fucking wrath, because boomkin was always the more preferred spec for so many fights. The whole point of feral is to have the downtime, to think about what your going to do next and plotting the duration of spells like rip/rake/savage roar to increase your dps. Feral takes skill, and management, imo the one class that has always taken the most skill and concentration to play. I want it to be this kind of playstyle. The better you are at managing your bleeds, the more dps you do, it rewards skilled players, and is rewarding if you play it correctly. The only thing i would change is reverting the shred animation/sound to how it was before. That sound effect for shred is so lame... looks amazing though. Really looking forward to trying it out after release.
I've been Feral Druid since 3rd day after WoW Launch and hit level 20. I've always liked Feral, and I still like it in Legion. The only thing I don't like is the Thrash/Swipe aoe stuff. I've always wanted like Thrash to make Rip AoE or an AoE Bleed finisher. I've always had the idea that Thrash gave you a 10-15 second buff that made Rip and Ferocious Bite AoE with a damage reduction per target...And make Thrash give a combo point.
I see my enchancement shaman friend using 3 abilites (4 if you count bloodlust) over and over again in WoD and he does 300-400k dps on Hellfire Assault. I use Thrash, Swipe, Rake, Incarnation, Rip, Ferocious Bite, Shred, Berserk, Tiger's Fury, etc. etc. (I think you get the point) and I can maybe meek out 100k dps. And I'm 4 ilvls higher lol.
9:17 have you never seen a cat hunt mate? Cats are incredibly precise and methodical. They can stalk prey for hours before deciding it's time to attack.
they should give the feral a finisher that works like the demonhunters' blade dance and hits all blleding targets or has some other synergy with the bleeds
I think something like Genesis for Resto could be cool. 5 Combo points could could be 1 sec to do remaining bleed damage, +1 second for each missing combo point.
@Preachgaming I think, as someone who has never played Feral and would like to, and as someone who listened to the entire video, I think Feral's job IS to be the best STDPS it can, an assassin to rival the Rogue in single target mayhem. You also have to remember, that the Feral Druid has to take advantage of those hybrid specs. Sneak around and pop heals if need be, emergency tanking on that mob that randomly changes threat, or taking advantage of that ranged ability inherent in the moon/sun attacks. There's a lot of utility damage no?
The first time this song came up in Revengeance I immediately thought I had just found the definitive Feral Druid / Hunter main theme. Such a cool song.
I don't think the cooldown on Savage Slash will make it bad at all. Unless you AoE a huge horde of mobs (6 or more I'd wager), then it will always be more worth it to Thrash the mobs, rake each one, dump your combo points on finishers and even refresh Thrash early if you get to snapshot. If you've done all the above, then you might start thinking about using Savage Slash. I doubt that you'd want to use many more charges than three per AoE pack even if you could. EDIT: Appears he edited his comment to something completely different lol.
I think you'll only want to use Brutal Slash during Tigers' Fury, it lines up very well with it (charge CD = 15s, TF CD = 30 secs, so exactly two charges per Fury and three at the beginning of the fight). Also, it's probably energy efficient and bursty enough to want to use it on even as few as 2 targets. While Brutal Slash is on CD, if the pack is big enough, spam Thrash to fish for extra Shadow Thrash procs, if it's only a few rake and rip up as many targets as you can.
Maybe add to Brutal Slash that thrash ticks have a chance to reset it? Or maybe make Brutal Slash a passive that causes Rake to apply to all mobs in 5 yards?
Preach - What do you think of this idea for a "fix" to damage management. Swipe - Now forces a "tic" of all active bleed effect to be done immediately. This would allow a lot of burst, and also allow the full damage to be completed better. For flavour it fits with feral cats in the wild, they fight ferociously and with frenzy, so this means the more you swipe it opens the current bleeding wounds faster. I imagine some people may not like it due to increasing the amount of times you have to place bleed dots, but for players that want to see their bleed damage be completed. This could do it. I don't know mate, just had the thought and am very curious to see if A) You read this, and B) your thoughts on this idea.
Many choose Feral for its high skill ceiling, so that's why the older mechanics like Savage Roar still exist. I honestly wouldn't play feral if it didn't have Savage Roar, as it forces you to always weigh the pros and cons between which finisher to use, which is a playstyle that no other spec has. It's indeed a very precise spec, and I wouldn't have it any other way. The fact that people can chose which playstyle to go with through the talents is great for everyone involved.
I like that it's getting incredibly fast again, or will get. I totally agree that Feral is quite fine with single target, and maybe one add that has to be focused down, but AOE... Without Predator basically impossible, and then you still rely on others to kill mobs for you ironically, and it's still lackluster. Something like the Firemages have or had with the spreading of their DoTs would be optimal, but then other people will probably cry... Personally I will take Savage Roar in fights where I don't have to do too much in terms of movement and can constantly keep it up without endangering Rip. Heavy movement might make Sabertooth worth it to avoid to big downtimes while Jagged Wounds is the go-to in every other case, especially with enough crit to easily keep Rip up. Blood Talons and Moment of Clarity will probably come down to personal preference. What's definitely worth mentioning is the damage increase that Berseker/Incarnation gets via an Artifact Trait, making it my first choice when I am not dependent on the extra energy anymore; again meaning enough crit. Which brings me to another Artifact Trait: The one that increases the Crit Chance of Shred. This makes Incarnation even more interesting because it DOUBLES Shred's Crit Chance (including the 15% bonus at 3/3 rn), meaning that we actually get a "soft cap" of sorts with 35% crit, or 25% with Blood Scent. Rule of thumb is still "the more, the better", but depending on the Set Boni, Combo Point generation is even more of a nonexistent issue than it already is. And Incarnation might even get better than Savage Roar with the right Set Boni and three Relics that increase this Trait. I will definitely torture myself with Feral, simply because it's the specc I have most sentimental attachment to together with Restro, but I don't know yet if it will survive until the end.
Gotta say. Love your videos, but your new intros look like they're made by a 12 year old in 2004. Gameplay with a cheap filter and metal music? Common Preach, you're cooler than that.
To reflect your tone back at you, I'd say what reminds of a whining 10-year old is the way you stated your opinion. Not cool. Personally, I don't mind it, but it doesn't really add anything to my enjoyment of the videos either. I actually prefer a bit of face-to-face, it feels more personal to me. But I get the impression Preach is mostly just playing around here and trying to find something he likes - and appeals more to his audience - more than what he's done before. :)
+Penterax it's not whining, he's providing feedback on an entertainers video, maybe not in the most polite way. but the only one whining is you. this is not a hugbox we all don't have to have the same opinion
Lol at the intro. From a pvp perspective, that pve gameplay coupled with the badass music was some seriously funny shit. +1. You might as well have been playing a video of elderly people knitting, haha.
Nearly all of the Feral AOE is tied into the artifact weapon. Shadow Thrash is the main one. As for brutal slash, it's not shit. Right now the niche for it is for single target. You run with Savage Roar, and Jagged Wounds. The low energy cost of Brutal Slash it to keep the uptime on both Savage Roar, and Rip. Since Shred is 45 energy.
I've been a huge fan of cats and have always considered myself to be apart of the feral community ever since I started playing one back in Wrath. The artifact skins look amazing, and so do the new animations we get. But our cleave has always been and likely always will be lackluster unless they buff the damage to swipe since the energy cost is retarded high. Thrash's cost needs to be lowered as well if they're trying to make our cleave more viable, because as it stands right now..it's only going to be used when a clearcasting proc comes up. But with that said, I'm thinking of MSing my druid into a bear since I've never raid tanked before..and honestly right now I find it enjoyable. It's a nice pace compared to what MDPS is. But with that said I'll definitely still be keeping feral as a very geared OS, as it's always been a spec I've enjoyed no matter what.
I don't main feral, but it's a close second to my arcane mage. Personally, I like the Affinity talent tier. Mostly because I like Ysera's Gift, since I love throwing out heals in between clawing faces, so healing allies just by existing feels nice to me. Likewise, I'm really glad that Bloodtalons still exists. Since I try to make my instant cast healing touches count, the damage buff takes a little pressure off me as DPS. I feel like I can spare the extra 1/4 second to actually aim the spell because the damage buff 'makes up' for it, so I stress less. (I kind of stress out a lot. In fact, I'm a better raid healer than dungeon healer, simply because having other healers around makes me worry less about screwing up, which in turn actually makes me screw up less.) My wife tells me I "cat intensely," and loves to link me damage meters when we raid together. Personally, I don't really care about the details, since I only raid LFR. Who cares about being the top DPS in LFR? It's LFR. Just so long as I'm doing my job, I'm happy.
Some Shadow Dance-like finishing move where you pounce on multiple enemies would be sweet; forget about Raking every target just simplify it to Thrash and Swipe till a full jump around finisher (maybe 5 targets or so).
How can that talent be anything but "the best" option though? There is literally no other way to balance it. It needs to be the best choice for single target, otherwise the extra rotational difficult is for naught.
karlzone2 Because Blizzard claimed that they didn't want any talent being just all-around better than other talents of the same tier. Obviously, they are stepping back from that idea in Legion.
DrPluton That's different though. Savage Roar HAS to be the best talent in single target when a person executes the rotation right. That said, if they balance it right (which it doesn't look like they've done), then other talents would be close enough to be viable if one can't handle the difficult rotation, or if the fight were something different than single target. They got this right during MoP, where they balanced Dream of Cenarius with Heart of the Wild and Nature's Vigil. DoC was the best talent, as it ought to be, but few people actually played with it, as most would get better resuts without. Savage Roar has to be "the best" option, the others just shouldn't be that far behind.
If you roll the Elune's Guidance talent it makes it more BEARable ~.^. Anyways if you want to play feral for PVP then you don't have to roll Savage Roar if you don't want to, Incarn is a better option for burst in arenas and such.
Savage roar should be baseline or even activate along another skill to be a major cooldown window. It used to be baseline in wrath I believe, unless it was just an "in the way" talent that you had to take on your way to berserk.
I get that you're not a fan of feral but I definitely would have liked to see some discussion of the T19 set bonuses as they will alleviate some of the issues regarding aoe as well as adding more depth to the spec
I have been playing and maining a feral since vanila, and I really enjoy feral on the beta at the moment. It reminds me a bit of wotlk, which is when i enjoyed my kitty cat the most. So im pretty excited for Legion.
I feel feral could really benefit from an ability similar to D&D for unholy, where for example after a swipe your next cat ability affects all target with swipe debuff on. Just a thought.
I think that what they should do with their aoe situation is possibly just remove thrash or swipe and keep one of them, reduce the energy cost but keep the bleed damage it can do. Maybe even add stacks to it as well.
Preach, just a curiosity question. You say you hate savage roar. I understand that and agree to it. However, if I remember correctly, you also stated you liked slice n' dice for rogues? If so, seems odd to like one and not the other. I personally hate both, just as I hated MoP's ret paladin keeping up inquisition too.
He answered this in another video: The problem is not maintaining a buff, but that the buff you get is so incredibly boring. Having saveage roar doesn't feel any diffrent or fun. Slice n' dice on the other hand is really fun to use, since you notice attack speed a lot more than a flat dmg buff.
I think that's entirely a weak argument. Either way, you're a good player to have 100% upkeep and bad to not. They both share a lame mechanic that really doesn't need to be there. Slice and Dice could be a 10% attack speed talent choice in artifact weapons and would be just as interesting because it's..faster.. if that is all that much more exciting than more damage (since that's what it is)
It's called Rules of Nature from Metal Gear Rising. It's making fun of the Feral montages while the "Rules of Nature" thing fits Feral. It's just a joke.
the anti-synergi between the low duration of SR and jagged wounds is real, they really need to make the SR duration longer for this specc to be playable
As a longtime Feral Druid myself, I hate Savage Roar with a passion as well. Its antiquated and backwards compared to other classes. I honestly think its only around because a Developer or two loves it so much that they want to keep it around if anything as a idiot filter with two subpar talents in its tier. It should have gotten the axe with Ret Pally's Inquisition.
all the talents in the tier are SUPPOSE to be around the same amount of damage increase.... guess blizzard is blind or some shit.... cuz i dont see how 30 energy after every finsher could POSSIBLY = more or less 30% BONUS DMG 100% uptime...
Agreed. Been a feral main for 10 years and can't stand Savage Roar. I actually started to like it with the WoD glyph, because it was nice to have that auto-trigger with stealthed Rake, but now feral just feels painful to play. :(
+DanceHallGooniesz Well, I haven't done extensive testing yet on a target dummy, but I've tried a few things that I did before 7.0.3 and I'm WAY less effective. I die much faster, even with the Guardian affinity; the ramp up time is very steep before I can manage the same dps I was doing pre-7.0.3, etc. Generally I'd say that it feels 10-15% less effective and efficient than it was before they mucked up the talents and abilities. I used to be able to run into the east area of Ashran, gather up about 4-5 enemies, and faceroll them without losing hardly any health. I tried the same thing the night 7.0.3 dropped, only with 3 enemies (just to be safe), and I was at half HP before I'd managed to get the enemies' HP down to
Probably going to main Feral again for the simple reason of no more mandatory Savage Roar. By the gods I so HATE that ability. Also really like Moment of Clarity for speeding up the spec. As for AoE with Brutal Slash, you could just Thrash -> Tiger's Fury -> dump all Brutal Slash charges -> spam Thrash to fish for Shadow Thrash procs. If the description is correct Shadow Thrash isn't limited by RPPM (it says 25% chance per cast) so more Thrash casts = more Shadow Thrash procs. What Brutal Slash does in this case is compressing your Swipe casts into 3 GCDs every 45 secs so that Swipe no longer competes with Thrash when the latter is already applied. So the real dps increase of Brutal Slash in sustained AoE would in fact come from more Shadow Thrash procs and not so much Brutal Slash itself. Not the most well thought out system but I think it can work. Also, Brutal Slash gives burst AoE and fixes the problem that you mentioned of "I cast Thrash but before it's done any real damage the Warrior already Bladestormed everything to death". Oh, and I just absolutely
"every other class has fancy stuff" - feral is a BADASS cat ! what more would you want? + you will be able to be glowing cat!! there is nothing more cool i guess.... i said on your survival video that i am going to reroll, and I will , but since it will be gnome and Horde is my home i will definitelly roll a feraal for horde , and yes it is truth that i am that kind of player who is going for visuals, I hate when my charaaacter does not look cool to me :D
you for got to mention that feral druid is little bit weak if you pull more than 2 mobs if you dont stun the mobs you're most likely to die as i play feral on beta. like warriors can just pull 6 mobs and still kill them with ease with out getting killed in the process. i think bliz needs to give a little bit more survive ability , like if you get the healing spec from the tallents you should be able to use them with out coming out of cat form that would be a good idea i think. what do you think @Preachgaming ?
IRL feral cats such as lions pounce on a target then bite down on the throat and hang there waiting until the prey suffocates. So I'd say blizz nailed the down time aspect of feral lol
Id love to see ferocious bites animation turn into something like you climb into the mob and savagely rip out its throat or somthing. But i guess wows graphics cannot make that happen. Also as a feral cat its hard to come up with aoe attacks since in the wild a lion for instance wont be able to take down 2 animals at once. They are supossed to be fast so maybe have some sort of multiple charge in there which gives a bleed effect on all the mobs you have pulled. Just a few suggestions i thought of from the top of my head.
I go Jagged Wounds+ Savage Roar for dungeons, works ok, but still doesn't get ferals close to other classes' AoE/multi-target :( The bigger problem is that even if the fights last longer you're still not doing the numbers that other classes are, at least not atm.
I have had fun with it using jagged wounds and savage roar it feels more busy. the class still seems flashy to me with the artifact forms so I like it.
All I can say is that Feral druids seem very much like a cat would be. Look at any predatory cat, they are very meticulous and precise with all their abilities and if a predatory cat misses an opportunity in the wild, it loses it's kill..... Its pretty accurate to me, so it may not be for you but I like it.
Feral Druid might need something like when a DOT Crits it then deals all left over damage of that DOT instantly and then reapplies the DOT., limited to happening once every now and then. Might help, but might be well OP lol.
This is a good idea. How about you make a finisher that is called "Tear" and this ability is a finisher based off combo points. The damage scales depending on the cp. However it puts a tear on the target that increases thrash and swipe damage by 50 percent for each mob hit by "Tear" kind of like what the monks have at the moment with the 12 stacks of spinning crane. I think this is a great solution
I love feral druid and have always liked the theme they represent (who doesn't like being a cat?) and yet, I feel like assassination rogue is just a better version of this spec- minus the kitties utility. I really hope blizz can do something soon in order to bring it up to speed gameplay wise with the rest of the specs in the game. The rest of this comment is silly thoughts I have to maybe help them do so. Feral has always had the issue of being a spec that was like a rogue disguised as a cat (at least imo) blizzard desperately needs to do something to get away from this feeling, especially now that it feels more like a cheap version of a rogue. How blizzard can do this has many answers, one I have been incubating is the idea that the feral druid abandons it's magic completely in order to be one with the wild nature of a cat. This would mean that they lose their utility of healing or casting spells (except rezzing) in favor of vicious abilities that unleash their claws and primal fury on those who stand before them. Gameplay wise, they would likely still be bleed centric, but simply removing the "mandatory" utility talents can open a path to wonderful new possibilities to make this spec FEEL better. As preach said, one thing they could desperately use is an AOE finisher- rogues don't have one anymore, so this would be something unique to cats. One thought I had was to make Thrash this finisher, or something similar ; an aoe bleed that does damage similar, but less than rip would to all targets affected. Maybe even make this a talent you can spec into, "Turns your Trash into **** which costs combo points to apply a strong bleed effect to all targets" Another thought I had on the topic of aoe finishers, is to simply make a talent that causes both Rip and Ferocious Bite to become aoe. Obviously this would require some delicate tuning to make it only good for 4-5+ targets. Maybe even make this talent a CD, such as "Your Tigers Fury also causes all of your finishing abilities to hit all enemies around the target for 10 sec." Thats just SOME of my thoughts on kitties, please reply with anything you have come up with. I'd love to read all of your ideas.
I think it's at this part we should note that legion wants to move away from every class and spec being able to do everything, IE a Swiss army knife. Ferals AoE can be lacking if it's strong point is single target, and that's the choice a raid leader will have to make for what would suit this fight better.
which absolutely sucks... when rumors speculated that savage roar was joing to be optional.... i got extremely excited... then i see thats its basically baseline again.... =/
It's somewhat balanced right now. The tradeoff for the additional 30% damage is obviously the amount of combo points and gcds you spend on casting it. I mean of course it is the top single target dps choice, but that's really the way it has to be, as it increases the skill needed to pull it off by a lot.
Absolutely agree with Savage Roar. That is the very reason, and only reason, I didn't enjoy WW monks (tigereye brew). Now that its gone it feels so much better.
For me Tiger's eye brew felt better. It wasnt like I had to waste say FoF if I popped it, unlike in feral I'd lose a rip or a bite. Tiger's eye simply enhanced my damage without taking away from it.
dossnake true its not exactly the same, but if you didn't have high uptime on it your damage was shit especially in lower gear when your mastery is not high it feels much better when I can do steady damage all around compared to: shit damage..... BOOST MEGA DAMGE.... shit damage.... imo
dossnake I mained WW as well. For a while. Until I got sick of Tigereye. New mastery in legion looks fantastic and makes you think before you press button, which I just the way I like to play. Pretty excited to play WW again.
Elune's Guidance helps a ton with it, reliable opener ability with a very small cool down, I would highly recommend running it if you feel this way, or are new to feral. I myself will be running it until I am 100% comfortable with feral (finally switching to feral in legion).
So basically they removed the energy starved portion of feral rotation? Please please please say that they did, I might actually play feral for PVE if that's the case... I mean, druid is basically my favorite class of the game as it is, simply because it's the original "Do anything" class, so it's still my main go-to since I can tank, heal and DPS without rerolling. Even though I have to admit that monks are a lot of fun, and I will probably level my monk alt to cap right after my druid.
Damn, I hate savage roar so so so much (I just hate ramp up time). I think I'm gonna swap to a dk over druid this next expansion, been wanting to try a new tank anyway, great review Preach! Thanks for getting this out there so I have more info! :D
Can someone explain to me why preach hated assassination was kinda okay with the feral druid? their playstyle is basically the same, and assa probably had even more to offer and manage.
Rip and the energy need to apply another 5 combo rip does indeed leave very little room to do anything else. I might switch to outlaw rouge, but the weapon looks pretty nice.
Wouldn't the talent "Elune's Guidance" guarantee you losing out on damage in terms of wasted combo points? With the global cooldowns and the rest of your rotation in mind this feels like it would have a huge waste of combo points in pretty much any scenario.. Or did I misinterpret it?
I've never been good at kitty but I love to do is casually, so I will very much like this on a distant alt that does like LFR at most. For that content I can see this totally being fine since I will naturally fuck up but won't mind, since I just love being a kitty.
Soul of the Forest- passive regen
Incarnation- doesn't give back regen far as I know but does reduce ability cost by half with a decent CD
Savage Roar- would be short CD doing something slightly different from Tiger's Fury but still gives back energy with damage buff.
bad ass introduction
intro music sucks
METAL GEAR RISING IS AN AWESOME GAME :D
Emo as all fuck
Thumbed that up with your other 9 "rwerwr pknwpn" accounts did you...
No, it's shit. FFS go back to how it was before.
The first five seconds of this guide seems to indicate I will need aviators and a can of red bull to play kitty.
Good choice of music! love the soundtracks in MG Rising. Nice vid mate
feral main since BC, still staying feral, but really butthurt about losing Glyph of Savage Roar, as it made the buildup time for getting your rotation going not as much of a pain in the ass. oh well, i still love the spec. great vid preach
didnt need to read passed feral main since bc, you're obviously bad at decsion making
+TAScartoons Savage, but kinda true
The intro music made me feel 16 and edgy again.
how about just as little idea that struck me for ferals: instead of the usual more combo points = more effect/damage or so on. they reverse it, so using a finisher with less points has the best efficiency for energy spent/output. set this up as a talent and u'd get the ferocious feeling of a wild cat constantly tearing into it's target. also u'd need the change the builders around so that they generate 2/3 as base, but when they crit they generate 1 less combo point. simple idea, and i know it's unlikely to ever get implemented or even seen here, but it's an idea.
So it'd be more like... Runes in a way?
not really. it's just changing the style from banking up combo points like rogues, to wanting to spend them as soon as possible without banking them. the fewer points u spend when using a finisher, the effect is worth more than if u spend more combo points. this would allow for a very fast and ferocious play style, while allowing talents that slow things down to have a better fit :D in my humble opinion anyway.
+Jonathan Mercieca That's actually not a bad idea. It hits with the class fantasy of a quick and sneaky cat. I like it.
Really liked the intro... sets the mood. Well done!
I've been waiting on this for a long time. THANKS PREACH!
Class intro is Epic ,hope you continue starting your overviews with it ;)
I really like the Affinity system for Druids.
I wonder why blizzard hasn't added any ranged classes? They added the DK, Monk and DH. Which are all Melee classes besides monks healing
dont forget making a hunter spec melee
+gamblor67 yup. And not to mention every ranged class is really bad at the beginning of each expansion because the lack of haste and stats. Every class you see will be Melee in pvp.
Yeah it's a little absurd.
Maybe well get a necromancer soon :D THAT WOULD BE COOL !! and he can be like the first Tank caster or something IDK
Tank casters would suck and it doesn't make sense.
That Intro gave me Preach PVP flash backs :D
+KangarooKidd. 4IL higher and 300K dps less I think that problem is in you I dont have problems with enchacements with my feral
Keep it up preach man, loving the guides!
@Preachgaming
I think, as someone who has never played Feral and would like to, and as someone who listened to the entire video, I think Feral's job IS to be the best STDPS it can, an assassin to rival the Rogue in single target mayhem.
Such a cool song.
savage slash seems like it does need to spread bleeds like the hunters cleave. if they made it into that it might actually be worth it
I don't think the cooldown on Savage Slash will make it bad at all.
It's not bad but in boss fights I can't see it being the best thing cuz like u said 6 mobs but if they just let it spread bleeds it would be too good.
Rogue + tmorph into cat = happy Feral
Maybe add to Brutal Slash that thrash ticks have a chance to reset it? Or maybe make Brutal Slash a passive that causes Rake to apply to all mobs in 5 yards?
I die inside every time i see hunter doubling my aoe dps using one skill while i'm working my ass off trying to set bleed on multiple targets
I don't know mate, just had the thought and am very curious to see if A) You read this, and B) your thoughts on this idea.
loved your insights! You confirmed what I was affraid of. thanks!
I feel like he was mocking the countless amount of generic feral montages out there, but idk
That's actually from MG Rising Revengeance, and it's Rules of *Nature*, because druids, nature, get it? Did I hammer that in enough?
Cooler = Him sitting there and talking in the corner of the screen for ~20 seconds? Sure, whatever you say.
Preach, just so you are aware - you are the new Totalbiscuit. Be prepared when the day comes.
I don't get the intros, is watching you do a rotation on a boss in black and white supposed to be cool?
In fact, I'm a better raid healer than dungeon healer, simply because having other healers around makes me worry less about screwing up, which in turn actually makes me screw up less.)
My wife tells me I "cat intensely," and loves to link me damage meters when we raid together.
As long as Savage Roar exists and is arguably "the best" option, I will avoid the spec like the plague.
When I listened to your intro, I immediately remember your vanilla pvp video D:
YEAH! Being a huge druid fan I've wanted to play Feral since Vanilla. All praise the WotLK gods who finally made Feral viable.
Thank you preach you always make my day
I feel feral could really benefit from an ability similar to D&D for unholy, where for example after a swipe your next cat ability affects all target with swipe debuff on. Just a thought.
I got way more interested in all this when the warrior showed up to the dummy area.
gotta love the early youtube montage opening
intros are getting good preach!!
I agree that feral aoe suffers however a feral will throw out big numbers on boss fights, and with great healing takes some pressure off of healers.
He answered this in another video:
The problem is not maintaining a buff, but that the buff you get is so incredibly boring.
Slice and Dice could be a 10% attack speed talent choice in artifact weapons and would be just as interesting because it's..faster.. if that is all that much more exciting than more damage (since that's what it is)
Whats with the opening music? It sucks
Well that' just, like, your opinion, man.
It's called Rules of Nature from Metal Gear Rising. It's making fun of the Feral montages while the "Rules of Nature" thing fits Feral. It's just a joke.
And it's a bad opinion :P
He did this with his last video too, think he is trying to do something new. personally not a fan and prefer the old deathwing intro.
How many more times you going to spam that shit...
FFS he did it because you have to get what its tired too. Like he does all the time...
the anti-synergi between the low duration of SR and jagged wounds is real, they really need to make the SR duration longer for this specc to be playable
*****
im not resubbed yet. have you done testing yet ? what kinda of DPS difference is it making ?
I tried the same thing the night 7.0.3 dropped, only with 3 enemies (just to be safe), and I was at half HP before I'd managed to get the enemies' HP down to
*****
hey me again, try any different builds yet ? whats your current build TBH, whats your bnet, lets sort out this feral business.
I nearly cut my hand on all the edge from the intro.
I am actually thinking of boomkin from my current feral because I still want to be able to off spec in bgs and dungeons when needed.
Nice video preach! Any chance we could see enh or ww next please? Keep up the good work!
That intro, i was waiting for something to happen because the music was epic but it was just standard gameplay lol.
Wow, preach that intro was super fucking dank. Swag
you for got to mention that feral druid is little bit weak if you pull more than 2 mobs if you dont stun the mobs you're most likely to die as i play feral on beta. like warriors can just pull 6 mobs and still kill them with ease with out getting killed in the process. i think bliz needs to give a little bit more survive ability , like if you get the healing spec from the tallents you should be able to use them with out coming out of cat form that would be a good idea i think. what do you think @Preachgaming ?
IRL feral cats such as lions pounce on a target then bite down on the throat and hang there waiting until the prey suffocates. So I'd say blizz nailed the down time aspect of feral lol
So basically, Preach, Blizz learned nothing from WoD and the catastrophy that was Feral AoE. Fucking splendid....
finally! man I've missed these. pull your finger out!! Haha 😂 peace
Great video! Feral is an awesome class.
That's the fun in feral setting up bleeds.
When will the next legacy video come out :b and will you do any update of the older videos? :D
I go Jagged Wounds+ Savage Roar for dungeons, works ok, but still doesn't get ferals close to other classes' AoE/multi-target :( The bigger problem is that even if the fights last longer you're still not doing the numbers that other classes are, at least not atm.
Have you considered artifact talents? Some of those seems to aleviate the concerns you're having with feral.
I have had fun with it using jagged wounds and savage roar it feels more busy. the class still seems flashy to me with the artifact forms so I like it.
Intro got me like "damn is it 2006 again?!"
THANKS FOR DOING FERAL OMG FAVOURITE
Maybe even make this a talent you can spec into, "Turns your Trash into **** which costs combo points to apply a strong bleed effect to all targets"
Another thought I had on the topic of aoe finishers, is to simply make a talent that causes both Rip and Ferocious Bite to become aoe. Obviously this would require some delicate tuning to make it only good for 4-5+ targets. Maybe even make this talent a CD, such as "Your Tigers Fury also causes all of your finishing abilities to hit all enemies around the target for 10 sec."
Thats just SOME of my thoughts on kitties, please reply with anything you have come up with.
Is Savage Roar gonna be Too much TO not take? I feel that 30% is pretty significant to the Fearl Druids Damage Output.
which absolutely sucks... when rumors speculated that savage roar was joing to be optional.... i got extremely excited... then i see thats its basically baseline again.... =/
They fucked over the duration on it too so you have to refresh hit even more.
krandomk
not understanding why the fuck they would do that.... on a 10 minute encounter, your casting it over 20 times... WHYYYY, WHYY
It's somewhat balanced right now. The tradeoff for the additional 30% damage is obviously the amount of combo points and gcds you spend on casting it. I mean of course it is the top single target dps choice, but that's really the way it has to be, as it increases the skill needed to pull it off by a lot.
ok, which is fine.... but why anal the duration ?
So I guess you're still planning to do a vid for each spec?
Holy shit the swipe/thrash keybinds! Thanks bruh
I mean even something like Furball-Causes your ferocious bite to damage all targets with a bleed effect on them or something?
Absolutely agree with Savage Roar.
That is the very reason, and only reason, I didn't enjoy WW monks (tigereye brew).
Now that its gone it feels so much better.
For me Tiger's eye brew felt better. It wasnt like I had to waste say FoF if I popped it, unlike in feral I'd lose a rip or a bite. Tiger's eye simply enhanced my damage without taking away from it.
dossnake
true its not exactly the same, but if you didn't have high uptime on it your damage was shit
especially in lower gear when your mastery is not high
it feels much better when I can do steady damage all around compared to:
shit damage..... BOOST MEGA DAMGE.... shit damage....
imo
***** I totally understand, im just a bit bias as a ww main lol
dossnake
I mained WW as well.
I myself will be running it until I am 100% comfortable with feral (finally switching to feral in legion).
love all these vids. don't care what spec it is
would love to see you use cam when you explain, with hand movement and facial expression:D
Hi Preach! whats the name of the Addon that shows the health bar and combo points underneath your toon while in combat? or is that a wow UI thing?
Rip and the energy need to apply another 5 combo rip does indeed leave very little room to do anything else. I might switch to outlaw rouge, but the weapon looks pretty nice.
5:50 i agree with Kalisia :D
Though he/she might have been sarcastic :3
Wouldn't the talent "Elune's Guidance" guarantee you losing out on damage in terms of wasted combo points?
With the global cooldowns and the rest of your rotation in mind this feels like it would have a huge waste of combo points in pretty much any scenario.. Or did I misinterpret it?
Hey, does rip benefit from Tiger's fury when you refresh it with with Ferocious bite with sabertooth ?
I've never been good at kitty but I love to do is casually, so I will very much like this on a distant alt that does like LFR at most. For that content I can see this totally being fine since I will naturally fuck up but won't mind, since I just love being a kitty.
